Welcome to the Vesperia Region. It is a fresh, rugged land, full of promise, mystery, snowy winters, and adventure. Settled just over a century and a half ago by settlers from other Regions, for the longest time it was solely considered a place to exploit the resources of, or for researchers to try and discover the mysteries of the enigmatic ancient “temple” structures spread throughout the land. It has only within the last decade and a half become large enough, and prosperous enough, to be considered a true Region, with a Pokémon League, and everything. And so the development began, and infrastructure was constructed. Only recently has the project been completed, and, with that, the population centers have begun to fill with those in search of new challenges, or a better life.
You are one of these people. You and your family have recently arrived in Vesperia, for whatever reason, and settled in to one of the cities. Like many others who have newly arrived, you’ve received an invitation from Professor Andrea Maple to visit the regional Pokémon Lab in Kouchi, extending an offer for you to register in the Vesperia Pokémon League.Again, welcome to Vesperia! I’m sure you’re all excited to get set on preparing for an adventure here, so, I might as well get the important stuff out of the way before you get distracted by the mechanical bits. This campaign is nominally a Gym Crawl adventure, but, there’s plots and mechanisms lurking in the shadows, should you choose to go looking. I just find it best for there to be at least some structure, so there’s always something to fall back on. Anyways, I’m going to be looking for three (3) players for this game, and I’d ask that you make sure that you can post at least every second day. Preferably every day, but I understand that it’s not always possible. Regional details can be found HERE!Applications will be open until 8:00pm PST on Saturday, March 25.Character CreationAnyways, as for character creation! Because I’m sure that’s the part that you want to get to. Fluffwise, your characters should be within the 18-19 age range, and have recently moved here from some other region, along with your starter. Do make sure to choose the town that you've moved to, though. You’ll be starting at TL 1, with a level 10 Pokemon. Yes, this may be low, but I do plan to be giving out at least somewhat frequent levels. Pokémon Requirements: Underdog, non-pseudo legendary, with at least one evolution. Check with me before choosing a Ghost, Steel or Dragon type, though. For instance, a Misdreavus will probably be fine, a Honedge, not as likely. I do reserve the right to ask you to not select certain other Pokémon, just that I’ve found to be problematic. As they come up, I’ll add them to the list below. Banned Pokemon: Nincada, Wynaut, Pineco, Porygon, Onix, Wailmer, Dwebble, Vanillite, Minccino All the playtest packets will be in use, except for the alternate capture rules. No splatbooks will be allowed. In addition, no Supernatural classes will be permitted. The Feature Pokémaniac and the edges PokéPsychologist and Basic Psionics will also not be permitted. The Twisted Power Pokédge requires a Pokémon's Attack and Special Attack stats to remain within 3 points of each other, in addition to the other requirements, or else lose the benefits of the Ability. DEXP will not be used. One egg move will be permitted for your starter to begin with, following the playtest requirements. If the move you chose is not valid to begin with, it may be put on your starter’s inheritance list. If you choose a variable damage move for this (ex Revenge, Five-Strike moves) it must be put on the inheritance list, to be gained at level 20. Your Pokémon may have a skill background if you so choose, with one skill raised, and one non-education skill lowered. You will begin with 2000 in cash, which may not be used on TMs, as well as a beginner trainer kit: -5 Basic Balls -3 Potions -2 Bandages -a PokéDex In addition, since I think this helped in the last game, and, also to make sure you’ve read all of this, I’d like you to, with your application, submit the answers to a short series of questions, listed below. I won’t be judging you on your answers, though, they’re just to help provoke some thought. Keep in mind, especially if you applied to my last game, that this is being answered out of character. (Honestly, the first one is just to make sure that everyone gets their backgrounds correct. I’ve been… surprised before.) 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia? 2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why? 3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character? 4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why? 5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be? If you wish to join this game, at least some participation in the Skype chat is mandatory. To join that, either contact me on Skype if you have me, or PM me with your Skype Name if I don't have you (this way I can keep track of who's who). Alright! Here is my application Jericha Spencer Ace Trainer/Athlete. She is a pride fighter, and with her Riolu, she is looking to achieve the glory by becoming champion!
Questions! 1.)She is from the Unova region. She moved to Vesperia because she wanted to rediscover herself after failing at her dreams back home. 2.)Her favorite season is the Spring. She likes fair weather to where she can wear athletic wear without it being too hot. She also enjoys rainy weather like spring showers. 3.)Her father would be the most important person. He was strong, a well renowned fighter, her trainer, and biggest inspiration. Disappointing him is her greatest fear. 4.)A Tyrogue best represents Jericha. She is still young with tons of unlocked potential. She can also branch into different was of fighting be it full contact or pokemon battles. 5.)Her Championship Belt. Obviously this is her own island, and she is now retired with what is rightfully hers.

Heya, I like to present Stefan Wells, a Taskmaster/Roughneck. With nothing more than his money and Shinx, he is looking to prove he can be something far greater than his family can ever hope to achieve.
1. He is from Kanto, and he moved to Vesperia after finally choosing to settle down. Its far enough away from Kanto, which suits him just fine. 2. He loves Autumn, because he enjoys the sounds and sights of the season. The crunching of leaves, the way they turn red orange and yellow, all of appeals to him. Not to mention that's when most of his favorite foods are readily accessible. 3. His father was the most important person, and in someways he still is. If only because he taught him some valuable lessons, even if the end results were not what his father had in mind... 4. Spinda. To him, it represents how different a Pokemon can be from one to another despite being the same species. 5. His sleeping bag, gotta stay warm during the nights~

Here's Leanne Dewbright, The shy Kalosian dancer from Laverre who came to Vesperia alongside her family with the intent of building a better life for herself.
1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia? R/ Leanne comes from Kalos, and moved to Vesperia because her parents got a mayor opportunity to open a fine dining restaurant in Kepek.
2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why?
R/ Winter, because the stark contrast that the snow creates over the landscapes are gorgeous in her opinion. Autumn, the perennial colors of her hometown, comes a close second.
3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character?
R/ A tie between her parents and Valerie, Laverre city gym leader. They are her role models and she knows that if it wasn't for her parents' hardwork and Valerie's kindness she probably would not have found (and fallen in love) with dancing, music and pokemon.
4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why?
R/ Her natural grace and beauty can draw similarities to Milotic, but Leanne's mother thinks she resembles Cherrim a lot more. The first because Leanne often hides herself due to her shyness and reluctance to be the center of attention, but when the time is right and she works past her insecurities she transforms and shines with incredible radiance.
5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be?
/R Her music player plus solar charger. She can make do with most of the other things she needs, but being stranded on a desert island without any way to channel her emotions and/or source of entertainment would cause her to snap rapidly.

Presenting Riz Zima, hothead from Unova. And other miscellaneous locations, but mostly Unova. I feel bad for making that joke, earlier... Here in Vesperia because of the unique and formidable challenges it promised, and because her parents were lured in by the promise of... promise. Really, it was their choice, and she was just all too happy to go too. Information at-a-glance: Classes: Martial Artist, Fire Ace (EC allowing) Starter: Vulpix (Inheritance: Energy Ball) Hometown: Aspertia City, Unova Current residence: Turngate City, Vesperia
Questionnaire: 1) Unova-born, coming from Aspertia City (one guess how well she took to Trainer School...), the Zima family moved to Vesperia for the opportunities! From a land of promise... to a land of even greater promise! That, and it was an economically sound move for her parents, though she couldn't be bothered to listen to the details.
2) Winter! Surviving through the harshest of seasons is proof of mankind's dominance over nature, and some of her fondest memories are from family excursions way, way out to Sinnoh, and north into Snowpoint. Unova was sorely lacking in such a tough season, so Riz hoped Vesperia would prove more formidable.
3) The most important would (annoyingly enough) be her older brother, Cyril Zima. No matter the contest, he would prove more than her match, and yet after every crushing defeat he was back to blithely encouraging his fiesty sibling. As much as Riz might admire him, he was insufferable... Nothing would make her happier than finally beating him.
4) Perhaps a Deino? Violent, tactless and none too stealthy, but exceedingly strong for it.
5) Gosh, that's a tough one. Hopefully there are things to fight on that island, outside of meals. Riz would be foolish enough to declare that she had enough to triumph with just that, eking out just enough to survive. Whether she would admit it or not, it would be really boring... An epic adventure story would take her a while to work through, though. Minor updates made, and the questionnaire is now included here, for your viewing convenience. Cheers!

Let's see if I can get back into Pokemon. It's been a while. Here's Roy Imperato! What he lacks in confidence he makes up for with team spirit. I still need to work out his inventory but the rest of the crunch is there, and his fluff is done. Although I might end up changing his starter - I kind of want a Paras later for help with Chef ingredients beyond just foraging and don't really want two Grass/Bugs... but Sewaddle is otherwise perfect for the character... hmm. 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia? Roy is from Lilycove in Hoenn, and lived there his entire life until now. His family, celebrities in the contest circuit, were asked by Contest officials to help spread the joy and wonder of Contests to Vesperia. 2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why? Winter. He likes the fashion of the season, and cold weather doesn't bother him, even if it's a time when many of his favorite Bug types are less active. He also appreciates how it tends to bring people together, whether for holiday gatherings or just around a warm fire. 3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character? Roy idolizes his older sister Reine. She's self-assured, beautiful, athletic, kind - everything he wishes he could be. For her part, she knows he has confidence issues and does her best to encourage him, to see in himself what she does. And he does tend to look at her through rose-colored glasses - she's not as perfect as he believes she is, prone to selfishness at times even if she doesn't mean it. She's not spoiled, but all the attention she's gotten her entire life can make her a little resentful whenever she's not in the spotlight. 4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why? Roy would be a Weedle. He thinks he's small, unimpressive, unimportant, but he doesn't realize that with some time and effort he can grow into his real potential - whatever he decides that should be. 5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be? If a living thing counts as an item, he'd want to bring his Pokemon. I think he'd be kind of miserable stuck alone. If not, maybe some means of communicating with the outside world, but I think most of those would also allow someone to find him eventually? So... I suppose he'd want a photo, something to remind him of the people and Pokemon he's missing.

May I present Courtney Reed, an Ace Trainer/ Chef from the Alola region who wants to become one of the greatest who ever lived, alongside her Hippopotas. Only need to include a few more things (mainly statting her starter and spending money) 1. Courtney is from Alola, she and her family moved to Vesperia due to her fathers job 2. Courtney's favourite season is Spring, due to the symbolism behind it (growth, renewal, starting fresh etc.) 3. Courtney doesn't have one most important person, she instead looks up to a lot of people, ranging from her parents to past Champions and she hopes that she can take a little bit away from each of their example 4. Courtney is best represented as a Hawlucha as even though she isn't the biggest or the strongest, she has the skill and determination to push past that 5. Courtney would take writing utensils to document every day on the island on how she is growing as an individual
Also, my skype name is astar142008

And here is Samantha Steward, batty goth teenager, future fashionista supreme. The answers to the questions for her are: 1. Samantha moved to Vesperia from Kalos to Kepek, 1 month previous 2. Samantha likes Spring and Autumn best, when it's not so hot that her black clothes leave her overheated, or so cold that she has to hide it all away under bulky layers 3. Samantha's Mom Vivienne has always been the most important person to her. It was Vivienne who taught her how to make jewelry and sew. While she didn't fully get the whole Goth thing she was always supportive. 4. Either Woobat or Gothita. On one hand, she's got the whole goth thing going on and that's kind of her thing, but she's also kind of a batty person in general. She seems to jump to strange conclusions and do her own thing, then just makes "doing her own thing" look like another bit of the don't care attitude (she actually cares like 115%) 5. Her sewing kit. She is going to look good even for just herself. Plus having something to do will keep things from getting... weird.

Presenting Gideon Hayes, the stoic hunter. Background for easy access: Background1.Hailing from Johto, Gideon moved to Vesperia with his family because his father had gained an opportunity to be more productive there.
2.Gideon likes Summer best, when the weather is reliably good enough that he can spend all day outside in the forest.
3.His father is probably the most important person in Gideon's life. Not only did he follow in his footsteps and become a hunter himself, but his accident and following injury helped in part shape the person Gideon is today directly.
4.Absol would probably be the match for Gideon. A serious, solitary Pokémon that lives on the periphery of life, often misjudged by others but not really too bothered by their opinions.
5.A bookcase filled with good literature. Once food isn't a problem, Gideon has little need to hunt and can simply spent his day reading.

Presenting Desiree "Des" Adeyemi. 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia?
Desiree comes from Lumiose City in Kalos and moved to Vesperia due to her father receiving a promotion that involved a high ranking position in Kanadario's Silph Co. branch.
2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why?
Autumn probably. Other than the nice golden brown colour of the trees, Desiree also likes to wear her coat, and this makes more sense when it's actually cold. Winter, while also ideal for wearing coats, is colder than necessary.
3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character?
This is tied between her parents and Joanne, her former babysitter/role model. While her parents are the most important overall and the family shares a connection that didn't strain even when David and Charlotte were often absent from home, Joanne was the person that was always there for Desiree and basically set her on the path that she is now on.
4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why?
Probably a Shinx. She's a social creature that likes to travel in a group, and is positively sparking with personality. Puns aside, she is kinda obsessed with Electric-types so it also makes sense from that angle. She is competitive too, eager to strike up rivalries with people. Friendly rivalries of course.
5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be?
Desiree is not the type of girl to simply spend days eating and sleeping and she would be certain that one day someone would come and get her off the island, so she'd have a diary of some sort that she could eventually publish as part of her autobiography. She would also use it to doodle and write bad fanfiction probably.

Here's Gia Hearths 1. Where is your character from and why did they move to Vesperia? She moved from Pastoria to Vesperia to do pokemon ranching. She wanted to leave the city that gave her such a bad childhood behind her, and with the new pokemon ranches starting in Vesperia, there were ranches willing to try out her methods of raising pokemon.
2. What season is your character's favorite and why? The spring, because it was during the spring that many of the pokemon in the great marsh came out of hibernation from the winter. Allowing for Gia to see all sorts of new sights and types of pokemon. The spring also happens to be when Pastoria has the best outdoor weather
3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character? The most important figure in Gia's life is Allen Wave. Not for positive reasons. His simple presence caused her many of the problems in her life and added up to what made her who she is today.
4. What pokemon best represents your character and why? The pokemon that best represents my character is likely a Goodra, friendly and kind, but still tough.
5. If your character was stuck on a desert island with an unlimited supply of food and water, and was allowed one item (that couldn't let them leave), what would it be?
A hoe, even though it wouldn't be necessary due to having infinite food, she'd want it because it'd allow her to start a garden.

For your consideration, here is Humbert Vonderheide, Chef and Mentor. I've also considered having him take Cheerleader and Researcher (Botany) and (Pokémon Education.) He's a character I devised over two years ago, and have been constantly writing, workshopping, and roleplaying. From his creation, I've always wanted a proper tabletop endeavor for him. 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia?
Humbert Vonderheide hails from Solaceon, Sinnoh. He set out for Vesperia for a few reasons, really; starting out in his home region provides far too many opportunities to turn tail and quit if the going got particularly tough. It's a lot harder to pack up and ship out on another continent. Not only that, but Vesperia's freshly minted League offers a unique appeal. There's a certain amount of glory in taking on a new region, being a part of the initial Gym rush. Vesperia is also where his deceased father was born and raised, though his Vesperian ancestors do trace their roots back to Sinnoh to begin with. There's a side of his family he's never had the chance to know, save for those that flew out for the funeral. Starting in Vesperia allows him to connect with kin, while also making sure there is a home he can turn to, even if it isn't quite his.
2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why?
Humbert favors autumn, most of all. The temperature is just right, the harvest has come in, everything turns all brown and gold. Not to mention the cider. There's a bittersweetness to autumn, too. It's the season of change. The world dies, beautifully, with the promise of rebirth. Autumn is the season of, "things are going to be rough, but soon, it'll be okay." That poignant sense of loss and the hope for life resonates with him, even if he doesn't quite know it.
3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character?
His mother, certainly. His father had a large impact, and his death an even larger one, but Momma Vonderheide was always there for him with a warm smile and a tender word. She raised him alone, after her husband died, and did the best she could under the circumstances. He loves her more than he could ever say.
4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why?
Probably Audino. Though he resembles an Ursaring more than anything, he's a kind and caring man that has a tremendous need to help others. The caretaker role he fills is perhaps best represented by a pudgy pink Cleric. They share a certain kinship when it comes to abuse, too-- Humbert was bullied as a child, not dissimilar to Audino's designation as the Unovan punching bag.
5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be?
Humbert is a practical man. He'd almost certainly choose his trusty multi-tool, to help him brave the wilderness. A Leatherman would be instrumental in building a new life on a deserted isle. Assuming, however, that along with infinite food and water, he's granted some form of shelter and has less need for a pragmatic selection, he'd choose his harmonica. Being able to play his harp would be a fine way to pass the time.

Here's Jaime Crow all the way from the Hoenn region! 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia? Jaime hails from Fallarbor town in Hoenn, and he moved to Vesperia due to his parents deciding to take advantage of a business opportunity. 2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why? - Summer, when there are plenty of strong vines and plants to use as climbing handholds, and Arborea is active a lot. It also lets him get at possible fossil sites that would be otherwise inaccessible. 3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character? - That dubious honor goes to the Fossil Maniac who lives outside of Fallarbor Town, who showed Jaime the wonder of finding fossils. 4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why? - A Simisage. Jaime's always full of energy, and has a tricky sense of humor (though some have declared it more "warped") and he's always looking for the most effective way to get around an obstacle, rather than trying to just plow through them on brute force. 5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be? - A fossil restoration machine. If he's going to be stuck here, he might as well see if he can literally make some new friends.

I present Simon Sestelo, a young scholar ready to prove to the world just what a scientist can do! 1. Simon origanally came from Johto, but his father, an architect, came over to Vesperia to work on the region's infrastructure and, when that was completed, he brought his family over as well. 2. Autumn, without a doubt. Summer's too hot, winter's too cold and spring has too much pollen getting in both his nose and his test tubes. 3. Cloak, his Grimer, who serves as both friend, confidant and protector to the asocial Simon. 4. A Sandslash - he tends to (metaphorically) curl into a ball and raise his spines to protect himself, but he can open up. Also, while he sticks out a little in most situations, when he's in his element, he fits in perfectly and can be very hard to keep up with. 5. His chemistry set, naturally - if there's infinite food, there's presumably plenty of material for experiments and he may even be able to whip up some things to make his stay a bit more comfortable.

Alright, here is Donovan Fleur 1. Where did you character come from, and why did they move to Vesperia? Donovan moved to Vesperia with his parents, his mother helping to open a new branch of Celadon Beauty in Kanadario City. Originally he came from Eterna City in Sinnoh
2. What season is your character’s favorite, and why?
Springtime is his favourite, as the flowers tend to blossom the most then, filling the air with scents and petals.
3. Who is, or was, the most important person to your character?
Either his mother Grace or the wandering trainer Melody. He looks up to his mother a lot, but not only was he infatuated with Melody, she gifted him with Rose and made him realize a whole other side of himself.
4. What Pokémon do you think best represents your character, and why?
The entire Budew line. Right now hes very closed off, but has the potential to blossom into something great.
5. If your character was stuck on a desert island, with an unlimited supply of food and water, but was only allowed one item (that couldn’t let them leave), what would it be?
Rose's Pokeball. If his partner was with him then not only would it be less lonely, but the pair could cover the islands in plantlife and make it a bit nicer to live on

One thing that I did forget to mention, is that Sleep Pesterballs are not going to be available for either purchase or crafting. I've just found they can trivialize too much.
