After the glow subsides, in Fraxure's place is a new Pokemon. It is a bipedal Pokémon with a black covering on its back and most of the front. It has black skin covering its torso, tail tip, and thighs, as well as red talons and claws. Its large tusks, which resemble scythes, are black and edged in red, and are located on its upper jaw on the side of its mouth. These tusks, which can cut steel beams, are unbreakable. Its medium-sized eyes are red with black pupils. Ridged plate-like skin travels from its back to its head region. It has solid armor and the legs and tail have a dividing line pattern. Its arms are quite small, with three digits with two elliptical triceps and biceps and circular elbows. Its hands are small and circular with small red claws. Its legs are formidable and strong with three toed feet with a red talon on each toe.
Maya is too stunned to notice Rei's condition, though Sorra walks over to check on her. "Rei? Are you alright? Do you need medical attention?"

In between coughs Rei manages to get words out.
"Running... to intercept... and I can't help... but to need air... when I take hits... and there was lots of sand... and I got hit a lot..."
Rei coughs a bit more before noticing the HUGE dragon Maya's pokemon evolved into. She exhales in surprise, and that was a mistake. It becomes hard to breathe and she finally desperately fishes through her bag for one of her waters and guzzles it to clear her throat. After a minute she finally feels like she can talk without dying, and looks to Maya.
"Ok... now that I'm not coughing my whole life away... Maya. Look at it!"

Maya is practically giddy with excitement. It's.. a little unnerving coming from the normally serious archer. She's walking all around her new Haxorus, admiring the sheen of its black scales, and how they practically absorb the light that shines onto them. The newly evolved dragon seems to just bask in the attention it's receiving. It's injuries are still quite notable, however, so once she's done praising it for fighting so hard against the Gigalith, she calls it back to let it rest. When Rei offers refreshments for her and her dragons, she gratefully accepts a couple to get them fighting fit again.

Rei silently giggles at seeing Maya so excited. Nothing wrong with it, though. Maya deserves it, she and her dragons earned something like that. That's for sure. After quite a bit of time to rest, Rei finally hefts herself up, and readies to continue.

The next area seems much tamer compared to what you faced before. Just a small group of hostile Sandshrew.

Rei was really starting to hit the point where she felt they coming in to beat up a ton of pokemon 'might' have negative effects, but with most of them hostile, they have little choice. At least this seemed a 'bit' easier! Rei sends out Shinpuru and holds back, a little too worn out from the last battle to fully participate. Shinpuru is popped out next to the right of them, and bowls with a wet tail through two of them, hoping to end this battle fast. Rei uses Yoroi step but stays back cause ow.

What? They aren't felled to his awesome power? Shinpuru will fix that! While Shinpuru continues to bash away, Rei gets a little closer, gearing herself up for the fight if she needs to. Rei uses Dance of Blades!

Shinpuru falls to the dig/Vortex combo, and falls with a small squeak. Rei switches him out for Alligapod, who makes a battle stance but can't act yet. Rei moves over and does another aggressive dance, but with the attempt to dazzle two of the sandshrew. Rei uses Dance of Blades! Power Piroette to confuse both 1 and 4

Maya and Vibrava focus on #5 next.

Dragonbreath AC 2 vs 1d20 Paralyze 15+ Damage: 2d8+23
Crit: 3d10+10 Sniper: 3d10
Sandshrew #s 5 and 1 get taken out in rapid succession, prompting #4 to burrow into the ground in a last ditch effort to deal damage. After the last Sandshrew burrows into the ground, Rei suggests they just move on since it may have even just run away. Maya is okay with this, but no sooner have the girls gone to recall their Pokemon when Vibrava begins to shine with that telltale glow!
Its new form resembles a slightly insectoid, bipedal dragon. It is primarily light green and has a pair of large rhombus-shaped wings with a red trim, toeless hind legs, and skinny arms with three-clawed hands. Its tail has several dark green stripes and three small green rhombus shapes with red trims at the end. It has large eyes, and a pair of green antennae that point back. The eyes have red covers that prevent sand from getting into its eyes. With its wings, it kicks up sandstorms to hide itself. Its wings make a "singing" sound when they are flapped, earning Flygon the name "The Desert Spirit".1d20+2·3d10+50·1d20·2d8+23·3d10+10·3d10

Seeing the last one dig away Rei just assumes it's running after her group messed up her friends. She suggests just to leave and heads on.
That is... before Flygon evolves. Rei gasps (without dying this time).
"Maya, that's two now!"

Maya's eyes are as big as saucers as she hugs the newly-evolved Flygon. Once outside the cave, after they rest some, they can begin working on teaching Flygon to carry her into battle! She can't wait to give it the freedom to fly all over the place. At this rate, her Shelgon may even evolve before they finish exploring/training in this place! Sorra congratulates Maya again as the insectoid dragon is recalled while they move on.
Back in the area they just left... Sandshrew #5 pops back up, ready to lay the smackdown on these---wait, where'd they go? Aww, it wanted to show them what it was made of!

Rei also praises Maya again before they move on. So including hers, they've had four evolutions between the two of them. Gryz has grown so fast and Duch's final form seems very powerful if the last battle was any indication. She pops Shinpuru with some healing before heading on further in the cave.

The next area is actually much better lit. If only because there are some scary-looking dog Pokemon breathing fire everyplace. One of them notices your group and howls an alert to the rest of the pack. They all howl in unison, sending an involuntary chill down everyone's spine as they gather for battle. No sooner have the two of you sent out your Pokemon of choice for the fight than the Houndoom spring into action with a snarl.

Rei and Zumu are nipped at pretty quickly, and things are not seeming great. Zumu turns and does his special ability on Rei to help with her dances. Rei then does one, pumping up her defenses and offense pretty quickly in a special dance. Zumu uses Simple Beam on Rei!
Rei then uses Yoroi Step and Power Pirouette to gain 2 stages in def and 1 in attack (Both doubled!)
