Puka can't take anymore and it faints, much to the boy's dismay. He scoops the little mouse up and runs away, leaving whatever object he was tinkering with behind.
Rei earns 1 xp and 7 poke xp.

And he's gone. Rei sighs sadly and goes to inspect the item he left behind. She'd have to try and return it afterall.

Rei has no clue what sort of device the boy left behind, but she takes it anyway in hopes of returning it. Meanwhile, she looks around to find another (potential) Pokemon friend. She finds a small, orange fox-like Pokemon sunning itself by the side of the road.

Rei takes it, hoping to look for the boy, and begins following the path she saw him take. When she sees the small pokemon sunning, she approaches it directly, but non-threateningly. She hopes it won't be surprised by her approach.

The fox opens its eyes and watches Rei carefully as she approaches. It doesn't start or run away, merely watches her to see what she does. It's a very beautiful pokemon, and seems used to humans enough that it isn't acting defensive.

Looking into its brown eyes, Rei gets the feeling that perhaps it merely didn't find any previous humans worthy of its presence. Not to say that Rei is miraculously "the one", but she seems to have made a few of the right choices to earn its interest, if nothing else.

After finishing up and the Vulpix being much better groomed now, Rei stands, and gives a light bow to the Vulpix.
"Well that's fine if you wouldn't like to join up. I wouldn't want to have any pokemon not willing to join me. That'd just be cruel! But I must bid you goodbye for now, I have someone to find."
Rei heads back out into the city, hoping to track down the kid.

Rei doesn't spot the exact same kid, but she does happen to notice another urchin child heading for an alleyway. Maybe they know the one with a yellow mouse named "Puka"? As you head over there to ask, the kid vanishes into the alley. Upon reaching the entrance, Rei hears a very faint *thump* like something heavy sliding back into place, and the urchin is nowhere to be found.

Alas, her words fall on deaf ears (well, deaf walls). Nobody seems to come to her call. When she checks her bag, however, she notices that the item is now gone. Nothing else was taken, but it appears someone snuck up on her while she was busy poking and examining walls.
