Wealth. Fame. Power.
The man who had achieved everything in life, like none before him, was the Pirate King, Gold Hatcher.
The few words he spoke at his execution drove people the world over to take to the seas:
"My treasure? If you want it, you can have it.
Seek it out! I left everything in my life at that place!"

The few words he spoke at his execution drove people the world over to take to the seas:
"My treasure? If you want it, you can have it.
Seek it out! I left everything in my life at that place!"
Twenty-two years ago, these words, dispensed by the fabled King of Pirates Gold Hatcher before the spears of the executioners silenced him forever, ignited a fire 'round the globe. All across the world, men, women and even children aspired to take to the sea and find the legendary treasure, One Piece; all accompanied by their pokemon. These fantastic creatures; friends, protectors, servants, or even slaves to some; stepped boldly alongside humanity into a "Golden Age of Pirates" or an "Age of Dreams" as some have called it. People and pokemon alike fight side by side for their dreams, no matter how big or small; how good or evil.
Unfortunately for you, this means about as much as the price of tea in Alabasta at the moment as you stare up at the cracked grimy brick of the city jail you've been thrown into. You and three others share this particular cell block; placed here by the Marines that recently arrived on Shimotsuki; rounded up a number of "troublemakers" and "criminals" for various charges before dumping them all in the little-used jail and have been making great use of the people's stores of food and drink since.
So yeah, I'm picking up where Warr left off, and attempting my own try at a One Piece PTU game. I'll be creating a skype chat to discuss things as we go. Recruitment will end at noon on New Years Day, eastern time.
I will only be taking four players. Please take note that the quality of your backstory will have a large impact on your chances of being picked, and that characters without any backstory will not be considered at all.
Players will start at level 2, with a level 10 starter, with 1 egg move, following the rules from the September playtest. Anyone wishing to have a Den Den Mushi may have one at level 1, but it will cost 1000 on top of the cost of the pokeball. No pseudo Legendaries please.
Age range for the characters: 17 - 24
Starting cash for gear is 10,000. Crude weapons cost varies from 0 to 100 depending on the type of weapon, Simple Weapons cost start at 1500 and Fine Weapon costs start at 4000. Depending on the weapon in question the cost may rise at my discretion. Armor costs are halved, shield costs stay the same. Any leftover cash will be "lost" when your possessions are placed in impound during your arrest.
Allowed books include GoT, and DPDoM. If anyone wishes to have a Devil Fruit or Berry upon start, they need to hash everything out with me. B&D material will be allowed at a later date, but will not be immediately available. All playtests will be in effect and their resources available. Be advised, in order to take Maelstrom, you must be a Fishman, which can carry its own set of social issues in this setting. Aura Guardian is also a locked class for starting.
There are going to be a large number of homebrew mechanics going on in this setting.
Races of the world!
Devil Fruit/Berries
There are two separate types of Devil Foods; Fruits and Berries. Berries only affect pokemon, while Fruits only affect humans.
For the most part Devil Fruits will be simply refluffing the classes of the character that ate the fruit within a theme; with elementalists (with the exception of Maelstroms) usually being Logia types unless a good argument for a Paramecia type can be made. Supernatural classes are also good options for Devil Fruit refluffing, while Aura Guardian can stand as a Haki user parallel.PCs will NOT have access to Zoan fruits, they're simply too much of a headache. After speaking with several people, I have found a plausible workaround for Zoans.
They will use THIS class; with some provisos and limitations. Ignore themention of Spliced, Hybrid and Genetic, those reference another campaign and have no bearing on this one.
1. Size and shape will be limited to human or near-human. I intend to add a feat tax to gain access to large mon shapes, especially airborne ones. You're not turning yourself into a party taxi right from the start.
2. Evolution will also be locked behind a feat tax.
3. Congratulations, even in human form you now have that mon's elemental weaknesses.
4. There are no sea-faring Zoan Fruits. You are not going to become a Gyarados Human.
5. Absolutely NO Legendary Devil Fruit of any kind at start. These things are major arc hooks at the least.
Kudos and credit to Captain_Six for this class.
For Devil Berries, the effects differ by class.
Generally a mon will refuse to eat a Devil Fruit. If they're forced to do so, they lose a point of loyalty, and are Badly Poisoned.
if a human for some idiotic reason eats a Devil Berry, they are Paralyzed and Badly Poisoned.
A Devil Fruit is about three to four times the size of a normal fruit. A Devil Berry is twice the size of a standard berry, and both have the same swirled patterns to them.

- Paramecia would add moves, types or passives based on a theme.
- Zoan would allow the Pokemon to have a hybrid and full form of another Pokemon. (Maybe not modifying their movepool but changing their type/stats?)
- Logia would force their type to a specific one and give them an ability like Pixelate/Galvanize. Turning other typed moves into their type. It should give some sort of unique resistance as well.
