"Well, it was certainly an... eye-opening experience," Val says, after looking around to make sure nothing else was going to attack. "Back home it's mostly warnings, rather than immediate attacks. At least this was only a few birds..."She pulls out her medical kit, and releases Dinah, making sure that the Solosis was fine. Luckily, this shouldn't bee too bad, as the training Regimes that they'd gone through tended to occasionally be worse. First Aid Kit on Dinah for 14hp. Quick Healing for healing 2 injuries and 20 HP.

Matt stretched a bit, and beamed at Torque "You did great! I couldn't have asked for more from your first battle!"
He then remembered exactly what he had done a few moments prior, and turned to Julie, his face quickly becoming red "Look, I'm really really sorry about what happened. I promise I didn't mean to do it, I really don't even know how it happened."
He held out his chin and pointed "You can hit me if you want, to make it even and all"

Seeing how damaged she was, Julie coddles Tear for a moment before recalling her to her pokeball. Then, she walks over to the pokeball on the ground, picking it up and taking the lock case from it. Catching pokemon was so exciting! She couldn't quite get over how much fun it was, it almost made her forget how awful the heat was... oh yeah. It was hot. Ugh. And she was getting this headache, she couldn't quite figure out wh-
And of course, Matt had to run his big mouth. As he spoke, she crossed her arms, a more ticked expression growing on her face, the heat plus her pained head beginning to get to her. He might even begin to get the feeling that he shouldn't have reminded her that it had happened, even if he was apologizing. When he sticks out his face to take a hit, she snorts in derision and walks past him, looking for a way to get to the bottom of the cliff. "Come on, lets hurry up and find our dropped pokeballs."

As soon as the Pidgey is out of sight, Sirius and Tear both slump down. The fight clearly very draining for them. As Julie cuddles with and tends to Tear, Sirius follies Steven over to where the birds had originally been. There isn't much to see there. A disturbed ring of dirt, lots of footprints, and the beginnings of a nest are apparent. One branch in particular sticks out--an olive branch--but otherwise it appears to be the humble beginnings of a nest. Dinah comes out and sags in the air, conscious, but clearly drained of energy. After Val tends to her Solosis, though, Dinah appears to be doing much better. Torque appears to be very happy at the praise heaped upon him, flying in a sideways figure eight pattern in front of Matt and squealing with delight. When he sees the exchange between Matt and Julie, however, the little Klink's demeanor changes. He looks curious and confused, floating between the two. "Klink?," he asks a red-faced Matt in a high-pitched, squeaky voice. "Klink?," he repeats to a stern-faced Julie. Torque is clearly concerned. A short while later, as you all walk down the sloping hillsides that frame the cliff, the sounds of many different types of pokemon fill the air. You find yourselves walking beneath a canopy of low shade trees, and the walk is very pleasant. Grass and leaves rustle here and there, but no pokemon come forward to challenge you. As the ground levels out, and you exit the shadowed eaves of the forest into the bright, early sunshine, you turn back toward the cliff face. There, in the shadow of the cliffs, is a sight you can hardly believe. A veritable field of pokeballs, all laid out in the shade of the cliffside! Evidently you all were not the first to lose pokeballs from atop the cliff. This was going to make finding your own specific balls somewhat of a challenge... Steven sighs as he sees the disturbed nest. Seems like this is what they had interupted... at least there weren't any eggs in sight, so the birds at least hadn't finished settling in here yet...
He then notices the state Sirius is in, having been somewhat preoccupied earlier. "Thanks for helping me out there, buddy, how 'bout we fix you up a bit" He proceeds to take out a few bottles of Potion out of his bag, applying the medicine to the Riolu's wounds. The pup still looked banged up, but at least he'd have a bit more energy this way.
Steven gets up to leave behind the others when he notices something sticking out of the nest. An olive branch... not really thinking about it, he walks to the nest and pulls the branch out, something telling him it might be a good idea... or maybe not. Who knows, really?
Steven looks upon the field full of pokéball with a slowly growing sense of dread, nodding slightly as he oversees the dozens of balls. After a few moment of staying silent, he sighs. "Of course it is... why would this be easy?" he mutters to himself, before walking in the field slowly, relying on his guts, senses and no small amount of luck to find his own balls. They could always sort through this mess of balls after they'd found their own.

Rather thankful that Dinah seemed to be recovering, Val makes a mental note to use Ajax for a bit, let the Solosis recover some. Heading down the cliff with the others, though, she blanches. "Uh, how few people actually come and recover their balls here?" she asks, looking around. "This seems like a hazard... I wonder how many Pokémon might have wandered onto broken balls... or if any accidentally got engulfed. That's not possible... right? I'm... sure those are all empty." Waving away that thought, she asks "You guys were just using regular Pokéballs, right?"

Julie sighs a little at Torque's confusion at her and Matt's argument. Sure, it wasn't necessarily that big of a deal, but the way he tried to handle the situation was just... so idiotic. "We'll deal with it later, little guy. But for now, we have some exploring to do, so lets go, okay?" She lightly pats Torque on the head, then continues on her way down to the bottom of the cliff.
When she sees the field of pokeballs at the bottom of the cliff, Julie blinks a few times, her eyes lighting up. So many pokeballs to examine! She releases Cloak and gives him a quick. "Help me gather these all into one place", then begins scurrying around collecting and examining all the pokeballs. Perception - 12 Intuition - 4 Tech Ed - 16

Recalling the little Klink, Matt rolls his eyes a little when he doesn't notice any nearby Pokemon. What good was a Safari Zone without Pokemon, though he wasnt sure he would find many Pokemon that would fit his style here anyways. But, this wasn't about him, the others were really excited about this, and had Pokeballs to find!
Matt looks on as the others begin fussing with the field of Pokeballs, before shrugging and walking out to search for any that had a Pokemon inside.

"Hey, guys," Val calls out, as she looks for a place to sit down, "Do you have any markings on yours? Because there's a lot of Pokéballs here. Is it normal for people here to just leave Pokémon lying about, or throw away balls? Because this is a lot, and not even Safari Balls. You'd think they'd be cleared, right? Unless... we're just allowed to take them?" She thinks for a few moments, before giggling a little. "I'd like to think that people don't just come here to pour Pokéballs off the edge... right?"

As Steven walks to the field, he gets the odd sense that something is ... off. Something didn't quite add up... There were way too many balls here, especially as most weren't even Safari Balls. Plus, they all seemed to be buried in the dirt somehow... the ground wasn't that soft and the balls not heavy enough for that to make any sense... so... how?
He absentmindedly shakes his head at Val's question, his mind mostly on the puzzle in front of him. "No... that's not it, something here is o-"
There! That ball was moving! Now that Steven has spotted one moving, he begins to pay more attention, and quickly notices several others moving as well. That couldn't be good... "Guys... something shady is going on... the balls are shaking... Almost like..." He trails off in thought, before, cautiously, he moving over to one of the shaking balls and carefully nudging it with his toe.

Steven MalachiteAs you reach out with your foot, your toe mere inches away, you suddenly hear something. "Gus!" It sounds like that pokeball--or whatever it is--spoke! This just gets weirder and weirder.

Steven's foot stops mere inches from the 'ball' as he hears a soft "Gus" sound coming from it. He smiles slightly, before dropping down in a crouch so he's at somewhat eye level with the ball, or rather, the - "Foongus. Come on out, little guys, no reason to be shy. We don't wanna hurt ya. Just wanna get our own balls that fell from up top the cliff back, then we'll be out of your ... vines? Roots? Whatever it is you have."Charm Check: 19

Matt pulled his hand back when the 'Pokeball' made a sound, and then Steven started talking to them.
Taking a few steps back, he turned his head towards Val "I'm pretty sure they aren't Pokeballs"

At the sound of the small noise coming from the pokeball near her hands, Julie would sigh slightly. Pokemon. Cool and all, but not quite as cool as pokeballs. Hearing Steven's lead over there, she would slow back away from the one in front of her and smile lightly down at it. "What my friend over there said is right, we're just here to find our pokeballs that fell down the cliff, and then we'll leave you in peace, alright?" Julie's Additional Charm: 10

The 'pokeball' in front of Steven suddenly popped up out of the ground, looking up at him. "Foongus?"
The one in front of Julie did the same, staring up at her quizzically. "Foongus?"
Then the one in front of Steven turned back to the field behind it, waving its arms. "Foongus, foon foon!"
All at once the pokeball-like mushroom pokemon sprouted up out of the ground, making a lot of noise as the whole field began to move and squirm around. "FoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusOddishFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongusFoongus."
The Foongus were all looking up happily and expectantly at the trainers.

At the living field, Val jumps up from the rock she was sitting on, and scrambles back in surprise, getting away from the field. Battling may be fun and all, but being outnumbered by what looked like a hundred to one... not good odds. "Uh... guys? What exactly is the plan here?"

Steven laughs as the field appeared to come to live, squirming and pulsating with small cries of 'Foongus' and... - was that an Oddish? "Leila, if you're out there, come here please," Steven calls, figuring he'd at least get one of his mon back. Meanwhile, he's thinking furiously about what the shrooms might want from them, hoping they can get out of this without any injuries. He waves off Val's concern, grinning slightly. "Don't worry, they're friendly... for now at least. Try not to piss them off."Intuiton: 13

"Odd-ish, Odd-ish, Odd-ish...," comes the happy call, getting a little louder as it gets closer to Steven. Eventually, the Foogus part, and there's Leila, happily plodding along and rolling her pokeball in front of her with the leaves ono her head. She reaches Steven's feet, the same oblivious smile as always on her face, and looks up at him with a pleasant "Oddish".
Your instincts tell you these pokemon want food...or attention...or both, and that you don't have enough time or food to spare to placate them all and recover the Safari Balls. If only you had some kind of way to grab the balls and pull them back to you, with some kind of rope or string...

Steven smiles down at Leila, happy to see she's safe and doing fine. "Good girl. Go rest up," he says, picking up her ball and returning her. He then returns his attention back to the Foonguses... Foongi? Whatever. He stares at them, quickly figuring out what they want, and what the fastest course of action would be... and curses under his breath. "You've gotta be kidding me, right? Ugh, I'm going to regret this, aren't I?" Reluctantly, he takes out the as of yet unnamed Scatterbug's ball and releases the bug. "Would ya come out for a moment, I need a hand."
