The Scatterbug materialized, wiggling and stretching for a moment, and looked up at Steven. As soon as their eyes met the otherwise impassive Scatterbug's eyes turned hostile, glaring angrily before turning away in a huff, raising its head. "Bug!"
It clearly remembered you, and hadn't forgiven you...but the fact that it hadn't tried to run away or attack him yet was something, at least...right? At any rate, it seemed to be willing to at least hear Steven out.

Steven sighs slightly at the Scatterbug's behaviour, equal parts frustration and relief. Well, my face is still clean at least, that's a start. "Alright, I know ya don't like me and all and I apologise again for what I did, but I really need your help here, so if you give me a hand here I'll try and do my best to make it up to you, okay? Could you please snag up those balls over there" - he gestures to where the safari balls are laying - "for me? We kinda need them back and if we're not careful we're gonna tick off this field of Foongi... which I doubt you want to have happen either..."

The Scatterbug is stock still for a moment, keeping its eyes shut tight and its back to Steven...but eventually its composure breaks. "Scat," in says, it's voice still irritated, but clearly an agreement. Without warning it fires a stringshot at your shoulder and reels itself in. "Scat-at-at," it said, clearly waiting for some form of instruction. In front of you, in the midst of the field of Foogus, there appears to be three safari balls. Which one will you ask Scatterbug to grab? Roll me a d3 to choose a safari ball, and a d20 for each attempt. The d20 is for my purposes only.

With Steven's direction, Scatterbug starts the Safari ball retrieval. With its first shot it snags a Safari Ball, sending it hurtling back towards them and dropping it in Steven's hand without incident. Things were going well.
With the second shot, it scores another Safari Ball, and starts to reel it in. As it hurtles closer, Steven notices that the ball is coming in low...very low. On a direct course for his family jewels, in fact, and he manages to leap out of the way, the Safari Ball clattering on the ground behind them.
This causes Scatterbug to giggle with amusement. "Scat-at-at-at-at," he laughs with a smirk at Steven's near miss.

Steven frowns slightly at the Scatterbug's actions, though relieved he had actually managed to dodge the shot. "Cheeky little bugger..." he mutters darkly, though a grin is tugging at his face. "Well, get on with it. Grab the last ball."

Scatterbug finishes his laugh, and once he's settled down fires off the third shot. It hits...but at first tug, it doesn't move. This surprises Scatterbug, and so it pulls harder, digging into Steven's shoulder for traction. Just when it seems like it might not give, there's an audible pop, and the third 'Safari Ball' starts flying toward you. As soon as it does though, it is immediately apparent it is not a Safari ball at all.
A Foongus lands unceremoniously at your feet, wiggling around, and eventually finds its way upright, looking around with a very confused look on its face, but the coloration on this Foongus is different. It looks like a Safari Ball, instead of a normal pokeball!

Steven's eyes widen in surprise as suddenly a off coloured Foongus comes flying his direction. Seems like some of the wild life had adapted to the local technology... "Oops, sorry pal, my mistake. Y'okay>" He asks, kneeling down next to the Foongus and taking a closer look at it.

Matt looked at the Safari Foongus and raised an eyebrow "Huh, that sure is something else...."
Looking at the gathered crowd of the grass type Pokemon, he seemed to fidgit in place for a moment "So, er, now that you have the balls back, we can go, yeah?"

"I'd agree with Matt on this one," Val says. "There's an awful lot of the little guys here, and even if I wanted to catch one, I wouldn't want to risk fighting all of them at once. Might be fun to try... but not out here. I'm not stupid." She grins, trying to project a confident aura... but her darting eyes betray her slight nervousness. Dinah was injured, and Ajax was... well, she hadn't had much time with him. Not the best odds.

At the sight of the special Foongus, Julie's eyes widen. While she didn't want to cause trouble, encountering a special variant pokemon was not an everyday occurrence, and there was no way she was leaving without one of them catching it, she turns to look at the other two, confused. "What? Don't you know how rare this might be? We can't just leave it!" She then turns to address Steven, saying in a hushed tone, "Try to convince it to come along with you, or maybe battle you one on one! It's way too cool to just leave it!"

"Look, Julie..." Val says, "You can try catching it, if you want. I mean... I guess it looks interesting. But, I don't know how well the others would take to you balling their friend. So, uh, if you don't mind, I'm just going to head thataway, before you risk annoying... I don't know how many Pokemon." She begins walking away from the Foongus patch, before looking back and asking, "Oh, uh, is anyone else going to come? Maybe watch from a safe distance, or something?"

Matt looks back and forth between the two girls, and then over at Steven, before sighing and staying where he was
"Look Val, I want to get away from it as badly as you do, maybe even more. But like.....If something happens I wanna be close so I can help..." He placed his hand on Brigs ball, just in case, before looking back at Julie and Steven and whispering "Please don't tick them off"

Steven looks at Julie a bit concerned, her a bit too eager tone of voice unnerving him, before slowly standing up as to not startle the Foongus. "Sorry Julie, but I gotta agree with Val here. It's not worth the risk. You can try and convince it if you want, but I don't think the others would really like it if you snagged their friend away from them," he says, gesturing to the field full of Foongus. "And I don't know 'bout you, but I don't really fancy finding out first hand what it feels like to be hit by pounds of Foongus spores."

Julie blinks for a moment, her cheeks puffing up in frustration. Why were they all such scardy-meowths? Well fine, even if they were going to pass up this opportunity, she wasn't! Slowly, she reaches to her side and releases her yet-to-be-named Petilil onto her shoulder. Then, she makes her way over to the Safari-ball Foongus and crouches down next to it, smiling pleasantly to it. "Hey there little guy... I was wondering if you would like to come along with me and my friends? Petilil here is one of them, why don't you introduce yourself, Lil?" She'd look expectantly to the little flower, then back at the Foongus. "Is there anything I could maybe do for you to help convince you?" Julie Charm: 15 Petilil Charm: 12

The Foongus looked up at Julie, staring blankly at her, and then looked back at the large field of Foongus. "Guuus?," it asked in a slow, drawn out tone.
"Gus!," they all responded loudly, and began to get quite animated. "Foon-Gus! Foon-Gus! Foon-Gus! Foon-Gus!~," they began to chant, the whole field moving and excited by the situation unfolding.
The Safari-Ball Foongus slowly turned back to look at Julie as the field of mushroom pokemon continued their rhythmic chanting and waddled toward her, its blank stare meeting her eyes. It turned to look at Steven and his Scatterbug, then at her and her Petilil. "Fooooooooooon?," it asked in a drawn-out, slow tone once again. It seemed to be waiting for her to do something.

Steven stares at the Foongus for a second in confusion, before it hits him. He groans, throwing his head backwards. "Oh, for Mesprit's sake, you serious? The shroom is asking permission. Seems like they think I... chose it or something." He rubs his face, thinking. "Pretty sure that at least they won't get ticked off when you catch it. Not sure how well it will listen to you while I'm still around though, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there."
He turns to the Foongus. "Go ahead, team up with her. She's good people."

Julie nods and pulls out another safari ball, giving the Foongus a little time to see it and get used to it before lightly tapping it on the head with it. Assuming it captures, she'd then stand up, giving Steven a big grin before suddenly remembering something. "Oh, do you have my other Safari ball? I wanna see if I caught that Starly or not."

"Alright," Val says, approaching Julie, but still staying a good ways back from the field of Foongus that probably is bigger than she is, all put together. Or maybe it just seems that way. They aren't really being in a good, cooperative, counting formation. "Now that you've made your capture, can we leave, at least a little ways away? I'd love to get a good look at the little guy, but that mass right there is just making me nervous... No matter how friendly they seem, I'm just always nervous about being significantly outnumbered."

Matt dropped his hand off of Brigs ball and raised an eyebrow "So, that's it? It thinks you chose it and so it's just gonna come along no fight?" He shrugged and walked away a bit "Not gonna claim to understand it, but whatever I guess"
He looked around, blocking the sun with his hand, before turning back to his friends and cocking his head "So which way should we go next? Or do you wanna play with the mushrooms some more?"

"Here ya go." Steven hands Julie the Safari Ball stuck snugly inside the case, meanwhile trying to see if his own ball had caught anything... After moving away from the field of Foongus.
