Steven glances at the clock quickly, nodding as he sees it's almost time for the battle. Getting up, he gestures for Sirius to follow him and goes to the trading place, figuring that Julie and Matt are probably still there.
Once he gets up to the place, he approaches the two, holding his hand up in greeting for a moment. "Hey guys, we might want to skedaddle to the Battle Zone. It's almost time for our 'audience' with the King." He grins, "And we wouldn't want to have the royalty waiting on us, do we?"

Matt tosses his newly acquired Pokeball in his hand before standing up with a grin "I dunno, I kinda like the idea of making a king wait. But, I guess you're right, we should get going"
He stretches back before placing the Drilbur on his belt "I wonder what the rules for the battle are going to be"

Julie stands up with a sigh after the trade, a little more relaxed and unwound than she was earlier, although not much. She turns to look at the boys for a moment, then shrugs. "I'm ready whenever you are."
As they begin the walk to the Battle Arena, Julie pulls out Petilil's pokeball and releases the small plant in her arms. "I'll probably have you sit out for this battle, but I think I've finally settled on a name for you: Demi. How does that sound to you?"

Leaving the Pokemon Center, our trio was able to make their way to the Battle Stadium--and what a Stadium it was! You saw it well before you got there. The massive structure resembled a gladiatorial colosseum more than a pokemon battle arena. At the entrance there were two lines--those for tickets, and those without. The line for those without tickets was easily a hundred people long...the other line--your line--was nonexistent. Walking right up to the attendant, he scanned your tickets, pushing a few buttons on his console, and handing you back your tickets. "Welcome to the Battle Stadium!," he said in a voice that oozed with enthusiasm--the kind you have to pay for. "Please follow the hallway behind me to the common area, where you should be able to find your party. Your Battle number is #426, found printed on your ticket. When the number before yours is called, you will be asked to enter the staging area, and after their battle is concluded, your battle will begin! Inside the staging area, make sure to enter any names you would like to be introduced as in the console found there, and our announcers will do their best to accommodate you," he said. "Best of luck, and have a pleasant battle!" With that, he unhooked a rope and allowed you to enter the Battle Stadium. The interior, much like the exterior, was designed like a Colosseum, with great stone sculptures of pokemon in heroic poses lining the walls or serving as pillars. After a short distance the room opened up into a large common area with easily twenty or thirty people waiting inside. As you came in, you heard a familiar vote call from your right. "Hey! Matt, Julie, Steven! Glad you made it!," the King of the Safari Zone's Trainer, Joey, called. He walked over, two young boys following behind him. The first boy ran up past Joey, greeting you enthusiastically and hugging you each around the neck without much chance to refuse. "Oooh, it's so nice to meet ~chu! Joey was telling us all about ya from the Safari Zone!," the boy said with entirely too much excitement and enthusiasm. "I hope you're ready for our battle, and don't be shocked when we win! I'm not gonna take it easy on ya just cuz we only just met," he said, putting up his fists in a mock fighting stance and winking at Matt. "I'm sorry about him...," the other boy said in a more reserved tone. "My name's Jimmy. It's really nice to meet you all," he said with a polite bow. "Oh, right! And I'm Kuna!," the excited one said. "So, you guys ready for our battle?," Joey asked eagerly. "I signed us up for three pokemon each, I hope that's alright," he said, clearly eager himself.

Steven gives a long and low (and shrill and off-tune) whistle as he sees the Battle Stadium. "Impressive..."
Once in and greeted by Joey, he raises his hand to greet him as well, only to find himself trapped in a hug by a younger kid. "Hiiiii? Nice to meet ya?" he says unsure, as the kid releases him and proceeds to hug the others.
He shakes his head a few times, still confused, before grinning at the other kid. "Eh, it's alright. Pleased to meet ya, Jimmy, Kuna. I'm Steven."
He turns his head to Joey, nodding once. "Fine by me, yeah. Looking forward to it." He grins.

Julie looks around the massive battle stadium, her eyes wide at the scale of it all. They really didn't mess around on Tangelo...
As Joey calls out to them, Julie raises her right hand in greeting, still cradling Demi in her left. As she watches the pikachu boy assault Steven in a hug, her face wrinkles up in disgust. As she sees him turn towards her next, she very quickly raises up a hand, ready to push him away if she has to. "Please don't touch me, I'm feeling a bit sick."
Then, she gives a small up nod to Jimmy. "I'm Julie." Otherwise she stays quiet, waiting for the battle to begin.

Matt looked down at Kuna with a confused look on his face as the kid hugged him "Uhhh" He says, before he said something about him winning. At the mention of Matt, Steven, and Julie losing, Matt began to chuckle "Bul and me always look forward to a challenge. Though I'd like to see you get past us."
"Jimmy, Kuna" Matt says with a nod towards each of them "The names Matthew Weiss, though you can just call me Matt. I hope that you put up as much of a challenge as I'm expecting from Joey over there, and his King of the Safari Zone, Scraps"
"Hmm, three huh? I guess I can work with that. Bul, Brig, and....I'll figure out the third later!" Matts enthusiasm was growing as the battle approached

"Ooh, but hugs make everything better...," Kuna said sadly. He would've been pouting if Julie hadn't stiff-armed him, giving his face a squished appearance. "Bul, huh? Well Buddy, Beaux, Mary and me won't be BUL-lied!," Kuna said, recovering quickly and giving Matt what could best be described as angry...although it was the kind of angry look a toddler gave an adult, and it didn't last long. "Looks like you've got your team picked out already...as usual...," Jimmy said, shaking his head. He looked at Matt. "Don't you worry about that. We're no slouches like Joey and...Your Majesty...over...here...," he said, sniggering and suppressing a laugh. Joey was beat red. "Yeah, laugh it up guys! We'll see who's laughing after our battle!," he said, clearly still embarrassed that he'd been caught playing with his pokemon in such a childish way. "Anyway, it's good to meet you guys--Steven, Matt, Julie. There's one group up before us, and we'll have access to their staging areas before that. They try and make it as close as possible to official Pokemon League matches. It's pretty cool.""Mmhmm, it's suuuper cool! You guys are gonna just love it! And there are people watching up in the stands, and even VIP boxes sometimes! It's really over-the-top!," Kuna said, his anger vanishing and being replaced almost instantaneously with enthusiasm once again. "So yeah, why don't we get to know each other a little before the match? Where are you guys fro~?," Joey started to ask, but was interrupted by an announcer coming over an intercom. "Attention Trainers! Battle number 424 has just concluded, and battle number 425 will be beginning shortly! All participants in battle number 426 please begin to make you way to your designated staging area, printed on your tickets! Once again,..." the announcer repeated. Checking your tickets, you saw 'Staging Room B' printed on them. "Well, I guess that's us," Jimmy said. "See ya on the battlefield!"With similar well wishes, Joey, Jimmy, and Kuna departed. As you all made your way to Staging Room B, you were met with a rather utilitarian space, similar to a gym locker room. There were lockers to hang excess clothes in, should you need to, as well as a terminal in the room. The terminal seemed to indicate that each of you would need to register three pokemon to participate in the battle--no more, no less. There was also an 'Introductions' text box, although there was no description for this text box and it was left blank. You guys will have a round or two of posting to discuss strategy and register which 3 of your Pokemon you will each be using. Once you choose those three you'll be locked in and you won't be able to choose a different Pokemon on the fly. You can use less than three, but there's no benefit--any empty slots are treated as an automatic K.O.

Matt smiled when they made it into the room "Heh, I'm glad we got pulled away before going into where we're from too much. I kinda wanna keep who my dad is on the down low, at least until AFTER I battle people. Don't want them going in with any expectations, it's not like I fight like him anyways"
He held Bul and Brig's Pokeballs out in front of himself "Alright, I know I'm using these two since they cover different areas, but I'm not sure who I should bring as my third. Torque still seems a little weak to be used in an official match on account of being so young, but I haven't really used the Sandshrew I caught, and shoot, I haven't even really let out the Drilbur I just traded for!"
He began to pace before slapping his forehead "And I didn't even think of what you both would use!" He looked at Steven first and scrunched his face in thought "I'm guessing Sirius of course, since he's your strongest and has advantage over at least one of their known Pokemon...well the one" He scratches his head "But what about your other two? The Oddish and Scatterbug? Or one of your new catches"
He finally begins to slow down before turning to Julie and scowling "And you have so many choices! I don't think I even know everything you have anymore."
Leaning against the wall with a sigh "Err, sorry for going off like that. Battles like this are just big in my family, and this is my first one since going out on my own, I really wanna make it count. I didn't even think to ask for the two of your ideas. Any secret plans to help us win?"

Julie's head spins as Matt begins to talk in the staging room, and similarly her mind is spinning trying for figure out what pokemon to use. When Matt finally stops and gives her a chance to speak up, she speaks slowly, considering her options. "Alright, so the pokemon I have available to me are Tear, Cloak the Sewaddle, Demi the Petilil, Pidove, Hippopotas, and the Makuhita I just traded for. I also have the Starly, but he's in the box at the moment. I'm definitely going to use Tear. Cloak is rather useless right now, so he's out. Demi could be used, but I've been relying on her a lot recently, so I'd like to use someone else if possible, if we need a grass type though, I can use her. Pidove, Hippopotas, and Makuhita could all be used, depending on what types we want. I know Pidove has a dark type move that can hit multiple enemies, but she's also the weakest of the three. So... what do you guys think?" She looks mainly at Matt as she says this, a little bit lost in the current situation.

Steven grins as Matt starts rattling off options, letting the others talk as he thinks over what would work best. "Definitely gonna be using Sirius, yeah, and Leila as well. As for what else to use... Hmmmm..."
With that, he starts thinking. What would be best here... He considers what he knows of their opponents, how they might fight, what they might use, what feel he got off of them....

Matt placed his hand on his chin "Alright, so Steven is bringing Fighting, and Grass and Poison at minimum. What about the Blitzle? That way we have something for Flying Types at minimum. Just an idea"
Raising an eyebrow, he continued "And Tear is a water type so that'll be good if they throw out Fire. I know you don't want to use her, but Demi might come in handy with her status moves, especially since I don't really bring any of that to the table myself. I also think the Makuhita could be helpful, more Fighting is never a bad thing, especially since we know that at minimum they have the Ratatta. But that's just my thoughts"
He reached down to his belt and nodded "I think I've decided on going with the Sandshrew for now, mostly because it has a nasty combo with Defense Curl and Rollout, so he should be able to knock some hard damage even though I haven't worked with him much. And he has a little Range and coverage."
He looks to his teammates "What do you think?"

Steven is quiet for a few minutes as Matt talks, mentally connecting dots, deducting factoids, making gut calls and following his instinct. Eventually he nods, more to himself than anything. "Alright, I have some idea of what we'll be facing. Joey is gonna be using underdogs, most likely, like his Ratatta. Not sure what he'll be using, but best not to underestimate whatever it's gonna be. Kuna will be using electric type. Not sure if only electric type, but definitely at least one of them. Jimmy is trickier. Something that requires some tactics to use, something specialised, less straight forward. Oh, and a Slugma. Seems like a Slugma kind of fellow." He shrugs at the last remark. "Not sure how helpful that all is, but thought you aught to know. I was gonna be using Tracey first, really, but if there's going to be a bunch of electric types floating about, Victor might be a safer bet... even if he doesn't actually know any electric moves..."

Matt raised an eyebrow at the Slugma comment before shrugging and trusting Stevens intuition " Well, if he's bringing a Slugma then Tear and the Sandshrew will come in handy for sure. And maybe you should bring the Hippopatas instead Julie, another Ground type won't be bad if they're bringing Fire and Electric" He holds his choices in front of himself " Yeah, I think I'm pretty set on these three, even with Stevens gut calls. I think we can do this guys" He grins to his friends and waits for them to make their choices Locking in Bul, Brig, and Sandshrew

Julie stays quiet, deliberating on her options, until she eventually sighs, making up her mind. "Alright, I don't like it, but I think I'll use Demi. Will just have to watch out for the Slugma. Tear is in as well. As for the final choice... And I think I'm going to gamble with Pidove over Hippopotas. Will just have to try and clear out the electric types first." With that, she walks over to the machine and locks her three pokemon in. Julie locks in Tear, Demi, and Pidove.

Steven nods. "That's cool, that's cool. I'll be using Victor then, get some lightning on the field ourselves." He, too, walks over to the machine to lock in his picks. Steven locks in Sirius, Leila and Victor

Shortly after the trio had locked in their pokemon selections the announcer came over the intercom. "Attention Trainers! Battle Number 425 has concluded! Will the contestants for Battle Number 426 please make their way to the field! Our competitors for today's bout will be Kuna Sand, Joey Yuengling, and Jimmy Proton, facing off against the challengers Matthew Weiss, Steven Malachite, and Julie Latra!," the announcer declared as the two trios of trainers entered the arena. The arena was a fairly large, circular area of flat terrain--an even battlefield. There was a fairly sizeable crowd in the stands, and what appeared to be several people in a VIP observation box, although their appearances were obscured. "And wouldn't you know it folks, it appears that the owner of Pokemon World himself has come to observe this battle! Please put your hands together for the man without whom none of this would be possible, Mister Simon Caine!," the announcer shouted. One of the shadowed men in the VIP box above held up a hand to wave. The crowd applauded briefly, but vigorously. Across the battlefield, you could see your opponents. They were waving to the crowd and seemed enthusiastic for the battle ahead. "Alright guys, good luck, and let's go!," Joey called. "Let's stick to the plan, guys! I choose Trick!," Joey called, sending out an Electrike. "Mm-hmm, and I'm gonna send out Beaux!," Kuna called, sending out a Mareep. "Right, and I send out Rick!," Jimmy called, releasing a Rotom onto the field. The crowd cheered enthusiastically as the three released their pokemon, eagerly waiting to see what the challengers would respond with. Battle MapGrey Tiles are Trainer Zones. You are all on the right. You may release your pokemon anywhere on the Right hand side of the black center line. All terrain is considered open, dirt terrain, though some of it is painted in the colors shown. Go ahead and release your pokemon and add yourselves to the initiative order.

As Julie steps out into the battle arena, she blinks in surprise at the sheer size and scale of the place. She had realized it was going to be a big deal, but not this big! And this was her first trainer battle of her career too... She fidgets nervously as the pressure mounts.
As their opponents released their pokemon, Julie's heart sank even further. If she was reading things right, these were all electric types, something two of her pokemon were weak to. She had expected at least some from the annoying one, but this was a bit excessive, wasn't it?
With a deep breath, Julie tries to clear her thoughts, closing her eyes. She reaches to her side and fidgets with Tear's pokeball for comfort before shifting to Demi's pokeball. She opens her eyes makes sure to look only at the battlefield, not at the crowd. Then, she draws Demi's pokeball and releases her in a further back position, saying quietly, "It's all you, Demi."

Steven calmly saunters int the battle arena, grinning his usual grin as he takes in the place, seemingly perfectly at ease.
As their opponents send out their Pokémon, his grin broadens. "Well then, isn't this a shocking turn of event?" He takes out Victor's ball, still grinning. "Well, I suppose I could add some lightning of my own. Come on out Victor!" With that, he releases the Blitzle, a bit further ahead than Demi.

Matt watched as the other two stepped forward and released their Pokemon. His breathing grew shallow for a moment as he hesitated to exit onto the battlefield. This was it. This is why he left. This was his chance to prove that he could make something of himself outside of his fathers shadow, more than just the Captains Son.
With a resolute breath, Matt stepped out next to his friends, a grim look on his face. With one swift movement, he moved both of his hands out in front of himself, fingers interlocking and causing a loud crack, quickly followed by one as he shifts his neck from side to side. With another move that felt natural, he swung his arm back behind him and grabbed the Sandshrews ball. This was his first time using him, but he had high hopes for the Ground type, even if he wasn't Matt's preferred Steel type.
As the Pokeball flew through the air, Matt called out to the Pokemon as it exited "Alright Caravel, you're my vanguard today, let's show them what we can do"
The Sandshrew now on the battlefield, the young trainer crosses his arms, hoping that his act might hide the fear of losing that was the only thought that was racing through his head.
