Plot: The Stiola Region is known for the many different kinds of Pokémon living there. It's also the place to be for aspiring performers to show off their skills! You are a group of performers traveling together to train for and participate in various different contests and earn ribbons and awards to be able to compete in the Grand Stiola Spectacular! Every year, the best performers from around the world come together to celebrate this competition and crown the winner Grand Maester!
Players: I'm looking for 2-4 players to join in. Beause of the nature of contests, this will be both cooperative as well as competitive.
Characters: Trainers will start at level 5, aged 15-30 You get one level 20 Pokémon and one level 15. They can both have an egg move according to playtest rules. No legendaries, other than that there are no restriction on the Pokémon you can choose. The starting money will be P$ 10.000 One TM of choice for free You can choose whatever classes from core, got and dpdom. b&d can't be chosen at the start, but might come into play at a later time (if it comes to bear, it will be a free edge) All Playtests are applied. Map of Stiola
If you have any questions left, feel free to ask them.
Applicants so far:
Also, which I forgot to mention, I'd like you to write something about one attack you are using during the contest, for example:
Tepig using Flame Charge:
Tepig starts dashing forward through a haze of fire, his small feet turning up the speed of his movement! The crowd grows increasedly wild as the flames envelop the little Pokémon as it sprints around the stage.
"Now, Tepig, Jump!"
Tepig jumps up into the air, flames still roaring around him, spinning around as it does so. The flames dissipate in a shimmer just before landing on his trainer's head. The audience goes wild!

So as far as League battles/trainer battles/wild encounters/contests whats the ratios? It will be around 50% contests, 20% will be training for the contests (by which I mean pure roleplaying), 20% wild encounters, and each 5% trainer battles and League battles (League isn't really a thing in this region, though I might include it more as an entrance exam for certain contests) Also, which I forgot to mention, I'd like you to write something about one attack you are using during the contest, for example: Tepig using Flame Charge: Tepig starts dashing forward through a haze of fire, his small feet turning up the speed of his movement! As GoT is allowed, would we be allowed to use our own elemental powers to complement our Pokemon's in some events?

As GoT is allowed, would we be allowed to use our own elemental powers to complement our Pokemon's in some events? In what way do you mean? Like for certain types of contests? Because there will be contests where the trainer actively participates too, it will just not be possible in all contests

When is the deadline for applications? I'd like to join in but equally I'm unlikely to get time to make a character this week.
Also is there any information for the region available?

I'm interested! I'll likely be a Smart style ace with a focus on poison types, maybe with a sideline as a chemistry researcher or a poison-type ace.

No problem, I'm new to the contest thing too, but I'm sure it'll work out all right When is the deadline for applications? I'd like to join in but equally I'm unlikely to get time to make a character this week. Also is there any information for the region available? Deadline is november 21, after that I will read all the applications and try choosing the team by november 22. The region is a work in progress, but it's based on an island with a lot of grassland, forests, a few deserts and also a mountain towards the middle of it. Here you can see an outline of the map: Stiola Map Unfinished
I still need to add cities, towns and roads though. You'll start out in the top area, close to the largest of the rivers (so the right one)

Ruby PhoenixTrainer is updated, features/edges should be set. Pokémon I think are set. May make my Braixen the level 20, and choose another for the 15...not sure yet.

Allow me to present Tony Terrell! The bulk of the work is done; all that's left is the fluff. Now, some points: First, you said no restrictions on Pokemon, so I chose two that're a bit hard to get: Beldum and Milotic. Hope that's alright with you. Second: lots of outdoor travel? Because if not, I need to change my items. Third: What format will this game be in? Skype? Discord? Play by Post? Fourth: Do we get a Pokedex? (Knowing what mysterious Pokemon the other guy is using could give us a leg-up!) I'll ask more questions as they arise.

I'll ask more questions as they arise. 1) Yup, Beldum and Milotic are ok. 2) There will be outdoor travel, but as there are plenty of small villages and huts around in most areas you won't need a tent etc. 3) Added it to the post title, it will be a PbP thing 4) No pokédex will be handed out, if you want information on a certain Pokémon you'll have to do a Pokémon Education Check of appropriate difficulty

Thanks for the prompt response! I do have a few more questions, mainly pertaining to the game world (so I can make the fluff stuff): Any information about the starting area (like important NPCs, etc.) that we should know? In your description, you say that people from around the world come to this region to compete, so I suppose it doesn't matter if we're native or not. Any ideas on how we as a party come together? Any criminal teams active in the region? And is there a map of the region you could post (if not, that's fine.)

Any criminal teams active in the region? And is there a map of the region you could post (if not, that's fine.) The starting area is a port town where the first contest arena is located, everyone arriving on the island starts there as it is a sort of hub place for everything. From potions to moon stones, you can all find it there. There aren't really that many notheworthy NPCs in the town of Ecrin, the only one I can think of at the top of my head is Samwell, the resident contest judge. It doesn't matter where you came from, you all got there with the same thing in mind, winning the Grand Stiola Spectacular. You will all arrive on the same boat, but won't know eachother yet (unless you can agree on a way of knowing eachother). I have an idea on how to make you team up, but for surprise reasons I can't tell it yet. There have been cases of criminal activities on the Island, but no word on organisations as of yet. This is a map of the region: Stiola Island. Towns and villages will be added as they come up (you don't know the exact layout of the region yet) If you want to be a native, you can make up your own town and where on the map it would be and I'll include it around that spot on the map. Other towns will still be added once you hear about them.

Tony Terrell is fluffed and ready. If there's anything you think I missed, please let me know. It's looking good, just be sure to fill in the level 2 skill edge and the level 5 general feature or (Sp)Att stats

I promise I'm still interested, just been quiet for a while due to a busy life. I've started making a Tumbler/Juggler, though I'm very tempted to cross into Wind Runner for a supernatural twist. Besides that, I'd like to give my character a pair of roller blades as Feet Equipment, and I'd like to know how you would handle the item's effect and cost. If you'd like a reference, there's an old homebrew class that introduced a Skates item for $3,000, with the following effect: "Skates reduce your overland to 1/2 of its normal speed when you're on particularly rough ground (eg. tall grass, tree roots, gravel, mulch) or on stairs. This does not have to be rough terrain, but can stack with detriments from rough terrain. Skates increase your overland by 1 plus 1/2 of your Athletics rank when you're on particularly smooth ground (eg. city streets, hardwood, tile). When you buy this item, you choose rollerblades or rollerskates; both are functionally equivalent." To generalize the effect, the Skates item Slow you when on Slow Terrain (basically quadrupling the movement cost), but increase your Overland by 1 + half of your Athletics rank on any terrain that was particularly smooth ground (so most regular terrain). Just to be perfectly clear, I'm cool with not having them as actual equipment and just fluffing when my character uses them. I just thought it'd be a neat idea for them to have a tangible effect.
