The first moments of the battle move fast! Blue darts past Jack, carving into his skin with sharp claws. Jack cries out, as the monkey behind him shrieks in glee! "Good job, Chester! I think..." Isabelle praises, a bit reluctantly. She isn't quite sure if hurting something like that was supposed to be a good thing or not. It didn't seem like it, but the monkey was hurting Jack. If they didn't do anything, he'd be in quite a bit of trouble. "Do that thing you did again please!" Chester nods, letting out a bit of a coo. He waddles over next to Jack, and tries to push the other monkey into the waters of the hot spring behind it. Isabelle uses Inspired Training on Chester!

Mankey Blue strikes at Jack! But the small boy jumps, dodging the foot nimbly. He responds with another blast of snow, as the Mankey behind him strikes at Chester with a sloppy kick. Chester's strike, in the meantime, sends the blue monkey flying into the water. It bobs in the water, face down, and doesn't move. Initiative List!

Somehow, Chester manages to turn, barely missing the red monkey's attack. He probably didn't mean to do it, but if he didn't, then Chester has some great luck! Using the momentum from his turn, Chester tries to push the red monkey back again. Isabelle winces a bit, seeing those monkeys get hit like that. She had friends that were monkeys! Though...these monkeys didn't seem like they wanted to be friends. "Chester, keep it up!" She yells, taking a tentative step forward. After her words of encouragement, she calls out to Jack. "Are you alright, Jack!?"Chester dodges Mankey Red's attack!
Isabelle applies Inspired Training to Chester!

Jack jerks his head over at Isabelle. "I-I think so!" He stutters out. "A bit hurt! I'm sorry!" As he talks, Red runs back forward and sweeps into a kick in Jack's direction. Jack spins in place--or he would, if the Monkey didn't viciously twist, hitting him in the kidney and knocking the pale boy down. He hits the ground, rolling, and doesn't rise again. The monkey nimbly jumps over Chester's attack as it turns to face him, fangs bared. Initiative List!

As Jack falls, Isabelle cries out and runs toward him. The worst medical emergency she's had to deal with is a few villagers getting bee stings. Before she can try to properly assess Jack's wounds, she realizes she needs to get him out of the way, and fast. As quickly as she can, she squats, hooking her arms up under Jack's armpits. She doesn't even try to pick him up. There's no way her small frame could handle his full weight, even if he looks quite light. Instead, she does her best to just drag him out of the danger zone for now. Struggling a bit with Jack's weight, she continues to order Chester, hoping that he can get this mean monkey out of their hair. "Chester! Get the monkey as far away as you can!"Chesters agrees with a hardy, "Munch, munch!" before waddling behind their assailant, attempting to knock it out of the way like he did with it's friend. Isabelle moves up 4 meters so she's next to Jack. She attempts to drag him. She has a Power of 4, so assuming Jack doesn't weigh more than 280 lbs, she should be able to. I'm not sure if dragging would end her shift action, but if it doesn't, she'll drag Jack back one square. I marked it on the map with an X. I'm also not positive if dragging/starting to drag something would count as a Standard Action. If she still has a Standard Action, Isabelle is going to apply Inspired Training on Chester.

Seeing the battlefield now clear, Isabelle continues to drag Jack back towards the tree-line. Once there, she stops. Isabelle wants to put some distance between her and those monkeys in case they wake up, but if Chester was going to leads them towards a food source, she didn't want to reset all the progress they've made. She makes sure to beckon over Santa to their little sitting area. Before she starts looking over Jack, Isabelle issues a few orders to her team. Cookie, who has been standing loyally by Isabelle, ready to strike if something tries to attack her trainer, tilts her head as Isabelle speaks. "Cookie, can you keep watch? If you see those two monkeys move, just bark." Cookie nods, then moves slightly close to the two passed out monkeys. "Chester, you just stay here. You've already worked hard." Isabelle says, giving Chester a caring pat on the head. With everything set up, Isabelle begins to look over Jack, checking for injuries and trying to think of a way to cure them. Chester takes 9 Damage!

Isabelle finds that Jack has two injuries, one a quickly darkening bruise on his cheek where he hit the ground and the other a slash in the sleeve of his hoodie stained a dark red on the edges. The bleeding has already started to slow, though--he seems like he'll be alright, with time to rest and heal. At least as far as Isabelle can tell? Still, it might be a bit before he wakes up on his own... And the monkeys might also wake up eventually...

Isabelle sighs. This isn't good. With Jack's condition, they really shouldn't be moving around, but they shouldn't wait for those monkeys to wake up either. After thinking it over, Isabelle decides that trying to find a safe place to camp is probably a better idea than staying around here. "Chester, do you know anywhere that we could camp? Somewhere safe." She asks Chester once again. Isabelle wishes she had a better way to travel with Jack with his injuries, but there isn't much she can do about it at the moment. Hopefully wherever Chester takes her won't be too far away...She'd hate to have to drag Jack around for hours. Isabelle is asking Chester to take her to a Build Zone.

Chester hesitates, looking around the clearing they're already in. But after a few moments, he realizes Isabelle doesn't consider this successful--and gives the warm, nice hot springs a longing stare before he starts walking, continuing through the clearing the opposite side of the way they'd gone in. With Isabelle dragging Jack, even with Chester and Cookie's help, their pace is slow enough that Jack wakes up long before they reach anything that might be a good place to stop--less than half an hour after they started. He lets out a grunt as she drags him, suddenly flailing as he comes to with the realization that he's being carried.
It takes a few moments for them to catch their bearings--and Chester seems happy to sit by a tree and rest for a few moments while Jack rubs his face and checks his wounds. He flushes a pale blue, looking at Isabelle sheepishly. "I, uh...I'm sorry. And thank you? I guess you rescued me, huh?" He laughs. He leans heavily on his staff, swallowing. "I, uh, I'm okay to walk. A bit sore, but..."
He trails off and frowns. "How long were you dragging me? I...honestly, I feel better than expected for having been beaten into unconsciousness...And, uh, where are we going?"

"It's alright, I'm just sorry I had to drag you. I hope I didn't make it worse!" Isabelle explains, blushing as well. "It hasn't been very long, maybe twenty minutes? I asked Chester if he could find us some place that would be good to camp. We knocked out those really mad monkeys, but I didn't want to risk camping there and having them wake up. I thought that if we found somewhere to camp, we could focus on getting you healed up!"
Isabelle looks up at the sky, trying to judge from the position of the sun how many hours of daylight are left. She pets Cookie as she does it, trying to thank the dog for her loyalty. "Cookie, while we walk, can you keep a watch out for any danger? I think it's best to be a little more careful now." Not sure what skill it'd be to tell time by the sun, so I'll roll both Survival and Perception.

Jack shakes his head, looking down at the cut in his arm with a concerned frown. He seems honestly more upset about the rip in the jacket as he pulls it away from his skin. "It's okay. Probably better that you got me away from those things. What on earth /were/ they?" He says with a sour expression as they walk.
Isabelle is likely distressed to find that the sky is quickly growing dark above them. They have less than an hour of sunlight left, if the colors in the sky are anything to go by--but she does know, from the past few nights, that the stars in this place are bright above the trees.
Chester seems adamant on leading the group forward--and eventually pauses as they approach a small clearing within that hour. It's barely a clearing at all, really, just a bit of space in between trees that a few people could lay prone in. There's barely enough room for much more than a fire in the center, but it's not the /worst/ option. Chester turns to gauge Isabelle's response--but keeps looking in the direction he was originally walking, as if he still wants to move forward.
Cookie, thankfully, doesn't seem to find much that bothers them in this short time. At most, the pokemon growls at a small white creature that glides over their head between trees at one point before vanishing into the branches.

"I don't know..." Isabelle replies, pursing her lips in a mixture of confusion, concern, and sadness. "I'd say they're monkeys, but I know a few monkeys and they usually aren't so mean. This whole thing is so weird! I can't make heads or tails of it!" As she talks about her current predicament, Isabelle is reminded of the fact that she's no longer a shih tzu. The even weirder thing about this whole situation is that she's starting to get used to it. It's similar, but different to what she's used to. She's used to walking and talking (She's a civilized woman after all!) but it's surreal to look down and see fingers instead of paws and no longer feel a tail wagging. "I'm not sure how I ended up here, and why I look more like a villager than a dog, but right now I think there's more pressing things to attend to." Isabelle muses quietly to herself, ending her train of thought. Looking over the area Chester brought them to, Isabelle furrows her brow. It's not awful, sure, but it isn't the best option by far. With less than an hour left of sunlight, it's far from ideal to be wandering around in the dark in an unfamiliar place. And with Jack's condition...Then again, Chester could be onto something, and it could be more beneficial in the long term to follow him now. "Jack...What do you think we should do? We could stay here for the night, but Chester seems to want to keep going. There isn't much sunlight left, though, and I wouldn't want to push you too much with your injuries. If we follow Chester now...maybe it could help us in the long-run?" She asks. If Jack wants to keep going, Cookie is going to keep on the lookout. If Jack wants to stop here, Isabelle is going to forage for Build Scrap with Chester, and leave Cookie to guard Jack. She'll instruct Cookie to howl if something goes wrong.

Jack makes an agreeable noise at her discussion of the monkeys, and seems deep in thought as they walk for a while. As they come to rest in the very small clearing, he looks around, humming to himself. "I think it's probably a good idea if we stop," He says after a few moments of consideration. "I'd like a chance to stop and check over the cuts, to be honest. And...." He pauses, hesitant. "I've seen some things the past few nights, and I think it's best if we aren't wandering around in the dark." He releases Santa from the symbol on his skin and looks around. "Let's gather supplies--I think we could use a fire for light, maybe...and you seem like you could use the warmth." He says, hesitantly. They break to scavenge. Isabelle returns, relatively safely, with 1360 build scrap in the form of largely branches and some long, sort of sharp sticky plants that seem like they'd bind rather well together. Jack seems to have scavenged while she was gone--he's grinning widely as he walks back with his hoodie held open around a huge mound of small yellow fruit. Cookie is giving him disapproving looks at the fact that he left the clearing after Isabelle ordered Cookie to watch him. Santa has a few more of the fruits, and they dump them in the center of the clearing. "I didn't find much for building, but I found a patch of these growing nearby! I got as many as I could find that were ripe--they're kind of weird, but they're sweet!" Jack returns with 1080 food scrap to share with the group!

"You really shouldn't be moving around and exploring so you don't get anymore injuries, but...thanks for the food!" Isabelle says, a bit annoyed that Jack would put himself in danger like that, but thankful for the food. Since night is fast upon them, Isabelle decides the first order of business should be a fire. They'll need light while they build, after all. She normally didn't do much building herself, just coordinating, but Cyrus had taught her a few things that would (hopefully) come in handy. "I'll try to put together a fire for us before I start trying to make a shelter. Maybe we could try and roast some of the fruit on it when I'm done?" Isabelle explains, trying to remember how best to arrange the sticks and kindling. I wasn't sure if you wanted all of Isabelle's actions for the night in one post, so I broke it up, but if you'd rather have everything at once, I can do that. I just didn't want to throw fifty "if this happens Isabelle will do this" statements at you at once.
Isabelle is spending 300 of her 1360 build scrap on a fire, leaving her with 1060 left.

It doesn't take very long before there is a roaring fire in the center of the clearing. Jack seems to wince back from it, a little, coming closer only hesitantly and only just. He seems slightly discomforted by the intense heat, and sits back a bit further. "I wanted to help. It's not that bad, anyway--it's already starting to heal." He pokes at the wound, grimacing. "I didn't know I /could/ be hurt like this, to be honest. It's....strange."
Jack settles nearby, taking up some nearby leaves and starting to wrap the fruit in them, so that they can be placed nearby the flames to roast. "I don't know that I've done much shelter building. Do you think one would fit in the clearing?" He looks around, tilting his head. "I might climb up, see about finding a good branch to sleep in, honestly. I don't know if I'd be able to sleep on the ground, so easily in reach..."

"Well, at least we know for the future. I'll put it in my notes so we remember." Opening up her pad and taking out her pencil, she writes "can be badly hurt" under the section about Jack. She thinks it's a bit obvious, but maybe it was uncommon wherever Jack come from. Nevertheless, writing it down couldn't hurt. As Jack wraps up the fruit, Isabelle takes out the miscellaneous food she had manage to find in the last couple of days, adding to the food pile. "Honestly, I think it's a bit small to fit a shelter, and it wouldn't be worth it if we aren't going to be here for long. Hopefully we can find a better spot tomorrow, if that's alright with you, I mean!" Isabelle quickly adds. She isn't used to having this much say, and she wouldn't want Jack to feel left out of the decision. "If you're going to sleep in a tree, do you want something to sleep on anyway? I think I can make those." Isabelle gives her 350 Food Scrap to Jack to cook along with his.
Isabelle is going to make a 2 meter sleeping pad for herself, and also for Jack, if he wants one, spending 300-600 scrap.

Jack turns her offer down with a friendly smile. "I've got it, I think," He laughs, and after they've eaten, climbs up to settle against the tree. He's very light on his feet, even injured. He gives her a small wave, closing his eyes to lean back against the trunk. The night is still and quiet, though Isabelle finds herself waking up several times in the dark to look around at the sounds of normal forest life. There's a close call with a small yellow pokemon that tries to get into their food supplies, but upon noticing that it's being observed, it bolts before it manages to snag much more than a few small berries. Dawn comes early, and brings with it a slight chill and dampness to the air. Dew shines on the plants, and on Isabelle's exposed skin. Jack snores quietly up in his tree, the leaves blocking the sun well enough that he doesn't stir just yet. Isabelle stirs to the light and the cold, and to a slight feeling like something is watching her. You've finished your first day! Rollover! While eating her share of the berries, Isabelle makes sure that her accounts of both Jack and Santa are correct, and then records a bit of information about the area they're camping in, Chester, and Cookie. Isabelle wakes up from her fitful sleep feeling somewhat rested. Her makeshift sleeping pad helped a bit, but it wasn't anywhere close to the comfy bed she was used to, and the open air isn't anything like a house with heating! Still, there wasn't much she could do right now. Maybe if she could gather some more supplies she and Jack could build something, but they should find a better place for that first. She stretches, then gets the eerie feeling she's being watched. She was going to give her Pokemon a pep talk before Jack wakes up, but she didn't like the idea of being ambushed. Instead, she touches her wrist to send out Cookie (just in case!) and looks around for whatever's watching her.
Isabelle has 1/2 of the food scrap (858) and records/archives Cookie, Jack, Santa, Chester, and the area they're currently camping in.
