It's been three days since Isabelle first awoke in this strange place, and she wakes up on the fourth day with the bright morning sun shining into her eyes. The clearing she's found for herself is small and warm, with a wide pool of water between the trees that steams constantly. The ground itself is hard or damp, depending on where she lays down, with scattered tree branches that stick under the foliage and make it difficult to sleep sometimes, but the hot water helps with the aches, and she's even seen a few of the small creatures of this world appear for the pool without bothering her. The day she arrived, she was so weak she could barely stand, feeling like something had been ripped from her chest. It's taken these past two days before the aches have faded, and this is the first time she's woken up feeling like she has enough energy to actually try...doing /something/ besides figuring out the strange differences in this body of hers, and meeting the strange pokemon that has refused to leave her side. The black book rests on the ground beside her when she sits up, though she doesn't recall having placed it there--but this, too, is something she's starting to get used to... Around her, she can hear the soft sounds of the forest--chirps and growls and cries of the animals--no, pokemon--that live here. It's day four, and the weather is clear, and Isabelle is ready to explore. [Start us out with a Perception roll, please.]

Isabelle starts her day by writing as much as she can about the area. She didn't know how far she was from town, but she should make a note of it. Perhaps this would be a good spot for one of the Public Works Projects. Wait. Something was off. Isabelle looks at her hands to check-WAIT! HANDS!?!? "When did I get these!? Do you know!?" Isabelle asks the dog who had stayed close to her for that past three days. Somehow, she had missed the whole hands thing earlier. She was too confused to check. The dog only barks as a response. Oddly enough, Isabelle doesn't understand it. Normally she understands these things, but now she doesn't. "I'm sorry...I didn't catch that. Can you say it again?" Isabelle sheepishly asks. As an answer, the dog once again barks. After a few more repetitions of this, Isabelle realizes she can't understand the dog. At all. "What're we going to do!?" Isabelle asks the dog, once again getting the same bark. "Wait a minute! You look like Cookie!" The dog once again, barks. "Cookie it is, then! C'mon Cookie! No use sitting around! We've got a town to find!" She exclaims as she gets up, Cookie once again, barking. Isabelle spends 1 AP to take a Record of her current Location. Isabelle looks around before she starts off, Cookie standing to follow her. There's a soft noise that catches her attention, and she looks back to find another of the strange pokemon not far from the hot spring, watching her as it approaches. A dark blue color, with a tan belly and feet, the pokemon continues to glance at her as it sits at the side and kicks at the water. It's very round, she notices, and it almost looks like it's wearing a dress by the way its strange fur falls. Cookie, though, seems uninterested in this strange pokemon. Rather, it rummages under one of the trees, sniffing at the ground. It paws at ground that, Isabelle notices belatedly, seems strangely churned up, as if something were digging there recently...

"What're you up to there, Cookie?" She asks, as Cookie responds with the same bark. "I see..." She starts to walk over before noticing that...uh..Pokemon?"Do you need something?" After waiting for some kind of response, she blushes slightly. "I...See...I'll be with you in a second!"
Of course, she didn't actually understand the thing, but she was too shy to actually let it know. She'd be an embarrassment to the entire town! The Mayor's right hand woman not even understanding a simple phrase!? Still, she tries not to think about it as she goes over to the dirt Cookie is pawing at. "Looks lose here..Maybe it's a fossil!" Isabelle excitedly looks through her pockets for a shovel, but can't find one. "Must've left the shovel at home today, Cookie. Guess I'll have to use my hands!"

It takes Isabelle around twenty minutes of digging to pull what seems to be a medium sized black box from the ground. Mostly, the time came just from figuring out how far she had to dig to get a good grip on it, if she's honest. In the meantime, the blue pokemon has made its way into the water and is blowing bubbles and laughing not far away, seemingly unconcerned with her presence.
The box is around a foot in every direction, made of a shiny, sturdy black material that's cool to the touch but doesn't seem heavy enough to be metal. Whatever it is, the box seems perfectly sealed, with no obvious openings. Instead, the cool material is engraved with silver markings--dozens of interlocking square based runes that Isabelle has no understanding of, however long she looks at them. Perhaps they're simple decorative?
On one side of the box, though, there is a different shape: the outline of a human hand with small ovals where the finger tips would press.

"No fossil? That's too bad. I wanted to donate it to the museum! They always need more." Isabelle explains.
Looking over the box, her brow furrows. She's never seen something like this, not even Crazy Redd would sell such a thing! Not that she buys from him, of course. She's an upstanding citizen, after all.
"Maybe Blathers would know what this is?" Isabelle asks herself while trying to stuff the thing in her pockets. That doesn't work, so she just puts the thing back on the ground. Once again, she looks over the box, this time focusing on the hand outline. She looks over her own hand, and realizes that it would fit.
"Should I try it out, Cookie?" She asks, a bit afraid of what will happen. It might be someone's personal storage of Bells, and it wouldn't be right for her to dig that up and open it without reason! Cookie barks, and Isabelle takes that as a yes. She tentatively reaches out and puts her hand on the hand-print, both nervous and excited to see what's inside.

Isabelle finds that her hand fits perfectly in the center of the the marking, each of her fingertips barely pressing against the circles when the engravings begin to light up, spreading from that center point. If she attempts to pull away, she finds that her hand seems to be stuck to the box, which seems...significantly heavier. It barely budgets if she pulls away. As the engravings finish lighting up, some of the etchings seem to shift on the box and there's a soft *click*. The box begins to...dissolve is perhaps the best word, the materal melting away under Isabelle's hand to reveal a small pile of...stuff. There doesn't seem to be any trace of the original box at all, even under the various items that it has been replaced by. The mysterious pile of things contains four neatly tied parchment scrolls, two jars, one large and full of some sort of greenery and one small with some sort of orangeish paste, and a small box with hinges, not unlike what Isabelle might expect a ring to be displayed in. Two of the scrolls are tied with a red ribbon, one is tied with a yellow ribbon, and the fourth is significantly smaller and tied only with a piece of string. The larger scrolls seem to have a series of intricate runes on them that make her head hurt to look at, not dissimilar from the etchings that were on the box, in fact. The smaller scroll has symbols much more in line with those she's seen in the black book--or she thinks, anyway, because when she next blinks, she's staring at a simple paragraph written in an almost perfect standard english font of some kind. It doesn't say much, and probably raises more questions than it answers, but seems to speak of using the other scrolls to 'capture' the essence of pokemon. It reads...very much like an instruction guide. The larger jar, when opened, smells strongly of herbs and...medicine, honestly, like the creams Isabelle has seen used for when the poor villagers run afoul of a bee's nest! The smaller jar smells...weirdly sour and gross to her, but Cookie seems to perk up at the scent, sniffing the air. The box swings open to reveal a shiny, smooth glowing green stone...it's very warm to the touch, in fact. Behind her, the splashing seems to have stopped and the blue pokemon is hiding at the edge of the water closest to her, peeking over the top. It gazes intently at the jar of orange paste. Isabelle has found a hidden cache! But who buried this? How did they do it without her noticing in the night? And, perhaps most importantly....why? She obtains: - 2 Basic Scrolls
- 1 Great Scroll
- 1 Myserious Scroll of Instruction
- 1 Collection Jar
- 600 points of Medicine scrap
- 1 Baby Food
- 1 Revive Stone

Isabelle's brow furrows as she reads over the Instruction Scroll. "Catching...Pokemon...I guess it's a bit like catching bugs then?" She asks herself aloud.
She looks over all of the items once more, trying to place if she's ever seen them before. The medicine is at least somewhat familiar, but everything else is a mystery. "Hmmm...How...Weird!" Isabelle exclaims before trying to stuff everything in her pockets. It doesn't work.
"Even weirder..." Isabelle muses, making a note of it on her pad of paper.
Seeing the blue Pokemon looking at the jar of orange paste, so picks it up, walks over, and offers it to the pokemon. "Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?" She wasn't sure it was food, because it didn't really look like it, but both Cookie and this pokemon seemed to enjoy the smell at least.
While talking to the other pokemon, she tries to come up with an idea of how to carry all of her stuff to town. Her pockets were full, so maybe she'd have to enlist some help. Then again, maybe she should try to get her bearings first before walking off into the wilderness.
"Cookie, what do you think I should do? Should I stay here for a bit and risk embarrassing myself in front of the mayor, or set off now and risk getting lost?" She asks her furry friend. Cookie barks in reply. "Oh...ummm...Thank you." Isabelle replied, still flustered by not being able to understand ani-Pokemon. Not being to understand Pokemon. She'll have to get used to that.

The munchlax makes a noise of glee at Isabelle's words, practically salivating as it tries to climb it's way up out of the hot water. It's efforts are largely in vain, though, as it gets about half way up before sliding back in with a splash and a wail. It's fur is slicked down as it rises from the depth and it sniffles, climbing up the rock instead. It flops on the grass just outside the water, sputtering.

"I guess you were hungry!" Isabelle says with a giggle. After waiting for the Pokemon to recover from falling in the hot spring, she sets the food next to it. "Are you alright?" She asks the thing, looking it over to see if it was obviously hurt. "Do you know the way around these woods?" She asks sheepishly. Hopefully she won't have to tell this part to the Mayor; they'd be so disappointed! If she can't even navigate the woods by herself, how is she going to manage money, or keep track of all the villagers!? Cookie prances about the pile of stuff before laying down, protecting it in case anything should happen. Medicine Edu to see if the Munchlax is hurt: COmciNkK3d6+1

The munchlax doesn't seem to be injured--and is more than happy to sit there and stick its furry fingers into the jar and suck the orange paste off of them. The blue fur is stained pretty quickly, covered in specs of the paste that start to dry. It stares at her as she speaks, tilting its head, and sticks its pastey hand back into its mouth to suck. "Muurrnchh," It mumbles around the obstruction. Isabelle proooobably wouldn't have understood it even if she could understand these strange creatures...admittedly.

"Oh...uh...alright." Isabelle replies. "Cookie, can you ask it if it'd like to come with us? I don't think it understands me very well..." Cookie nods, then barks at the Munchlax, trying to communicate with it. While Cookie does that, Isabelle makes sure that she's properly noted everything about the area. If she's going to try and figure out where she is, she should make sure she recognizes this area first. After that, her mind thinks back to those instructions and the scroll. Maybe...she could try it. The catching thing, that is. It couldn't be too hard, right? She could catch bugs, so she could catch this thing! She grabs a scroll from her pile of things, and wait for Cookie to be done talking to the Munchlax. "Cookie, would they like to come? Bark for yes, lay down for no." Isabelle asks, scroll in hand. Isabelle places her record in her Travel Archive.

The growlithe does its best to attempt to communicate with the munchlax, being a highly intelligent soul beast of the woman who commands it, but its attempts are met with the blank expression of the munchlax--and it's nibbling on the orange crusted fur of its hands. The munchlax waddles close to the growlithe, pats its head with a slobbery paw, and slams down to sit on the ground, where it makes cheerful noises and continues sucking on its fur.
Does Isabelle use the scroll?

"Well...I suppose there's no harm in trying..." Isabelle says to herself. The thing seems friendly, besides, with more pokemon at her side, maybe she wouldn't get as lost as she thinks she will. It couldn't be much harder than catching bugs! Isabelle stands, and moves over to where the Munchlax is now sitting. She holds the scroll over it's head, and attempts to drop the scroll on it while it's busy licking the orange goo off it's fur. I'll use the earlier roll, since it was already made. Just needed confirmation. The munchlax looks up and mumbles something around its paw as Isabelle approaches, but doesn't seem particularly concerned. As she drops the scroll, it taps against its head and falls to the ground next to it--where it immediately begins to move on its own, the red ribbons growing in size and shooting out to wrap around the pokemon's arm. It makes a noise of confusion just as the rest of the scroll begins to wrap itself around it, slowly hiding the blue furred creature from sight. The paper wrapped blob starts to shrink and glow--and Isabelle winces, glancing away from the flare. When she looks back, she finds that both have vanished completely. In their places, she finds a sheet of parchment sitting on the grass, undisturbed by a breeze that makes her fur...no, her /hair/ tickle the back of her neck. If she picks it up, she'll find it slightly warm to the touch, with an image in the center of the blue pokemon curled up and asleep. Her black book will come to mind. If it wasn't in her pockets already, Isabelle finds that when she looks around, it sits a mere inch from her feet. Touching it at all while touching the parchment causes the book to start to flutter, pages turning on their own until it simply falls open somewhere along the middle and ink starts to appear--etching out first an image of the blue pokemon, and then, slowly, letters that describe it. She opens her other hand to find the original parchment has vanished, but there's a curious burning sensation on her skin, like someone was pressing a brand against her... Isabelle has captured a pokemon! +5 TXP for your first successful pokemon capture! Your new pokemon has joined your team. You gain a marking, and it's information can be found in the pokedex. "I guess it's a little different than catching a bug then!" Isabelle laughs. Looking at her arm, where the burning sensation was mere minutes ago, Isabelle notices there's an apple tattooed on her arm. "Definitely not like bug catching then. Not even like fishing!" Cookie barks, seeming to agree. After examining the mark some more, Isabelle moves back to her pile of stuff. She goes over it once more, then shoves it all into her pockets. There's a bit less space in there than what she's used to, but that being said, she does usually carry things like furniture in her pocket. "Now...How do I get that uh...Pokemon, back out here?" She asks herself aloud. Normally when she catches something, she can just pull it out of her pocket, but this isn't like catching normal things. Finally, after a few minutes of searching and remembering, she touches the tattoo as her last ditch effort. She sighs, laying her hand on it and hoping something will happen. To her surprise, something does happen. Once the Munchlax is back out, Isabelle starts talking to it. "You need a name...You look kind of like Chester, so I'll call you that! So, Chester, do you think you could guide us without getting lost?" Chester nods. "It seems we've found our own survival expert!" Isabelle exclaims, as her and Cookie follow Chester off into the woods. Chester's survival for not getting lost: EXlP2stC3d6

Chester starts walking, leading Isabelle out of the clearing. Where the bear is leading her is certainly questionable, but he at least seems to be going /somewhere/ relevant. They've been walking for nearly half an hour when Isabelle feels a frigid wind, unusually cold compared to the rest of the forest, brush against her face. When she looks around, trying to find a source, she notices a flash of something blue and white in a nearby tree, peaking out from the needles.

As Isabelle looks up into the tree, she can see the dirty bottoms of someone's feet dangling off of a tree branch. A very pale face leans over to look down at her, expression vaguely disinterested. It's a boy, his hair pale and white and spikey short. His skin is white as snow, and he wears a dark blue hoodie over slightly dirty looking tan pants. A darker branch seems to be lain across his legs. As she looks up at him, the boy's disinterested expression twists into surprise.
"...hello?" He says quietly, the words barely reaching her. He opens his mouth and hesitates for a moment before continuing, "Can you....see me?"
