Sokka's actions initiate combat! In the future, please list initiatives before making attacks--I rarely allow surprise rounds. Initiatives! Aipom - 14 Sokka - 10 Poochyena - 10
Aipom moves at the top of the round--unthreatened as of yet, he holds his action until speed 1. Sokka makes an attack! The attack hits solidly, smacking the small creature hard enough that its purple fur starts to stain visibly read as Sokka catches the boomerang. In response, the aipom seems to react almost instantly, smacking the boomerang hard enough to slightly dent it. Sokka is going to need to fix it before he can use that attack again! Poochyena howls below, waiting. The Aipom shrieks its rage at being struck! It skitters down the tree, swinging gracefully between branches, until it throws itself at Sokka from above, claws small and scatching at his skin! Sokka's attack hits! The Aipom takes two injuries! It activates Spite! Wounding Strike is now disabled. Poocyhena boosts its combat stages! The Aipom uses scratch and lands behind Sokka! pWbmN8aF1d20 vs AC 2 to hit 2d6+17 Normal, Physical Damage

"Gah!" Whatever he'd expected the weird creature to do, it wasn't launch itself at him like a raging moose lion. Thankfully the little demon didn't quite have the aforementioned beast's worrying size. The yet-unnamed pup lunged after the monkey-like creature, darting around Sokka in order to take a swipe. Coming to his own senses, Sokka turns light on his feet and falls into a much more familiar attack pattern. His switches his grip on the boomerang and slices forward with it. "That hurt! C'mon buddy, show me you can take this guy!"Pooch Shift: Move around Sokka to flank the Aipom, so it has -2 Evasion. The Aipom just shrieks at Sokka's claim of being hurt. It continues shrieking as Sokka hits true, wincing backwards, and reacts by attempting to claw at Sokka again! Poochyena, in the meantime, attacks with teeth, attempting to grab something. It pulls back with nothing more than fur between its teeth, but blood drips from its attempt and the small purple creature collapses. WHq7AX_Q1d20 to hit, AC 2 Scratch on sokka 2d6+17 - Physical, normal damage on a hit
Sokka strikes true! The Aipom flinches backwards. It retaliates with Scratch! Roll above. The Poochyena uses covet! It hits! The Aipom isn't holding anything--but the damage knocks it out! You've successfully won your first fight! +5 TXP for Sokka, and 9 pxp for Sokka to split between his teammates. At least half must go to pokemon who actively participated in this battle. The Aipom sits collapsed at your feet. If you intend to harvest, now is your chance.

Pooch will use Sentinal Stance as a shift action to take the attack, with 10 DR. 26 - 10 DR - 6 DEF = Pooch takes 10 damage.
Sokka wipes a trickle of blood from his cheek, chest heaving. "Nice moves, pup. Glad you're on my side."With that, he leans down over the body of the impish pokemon. It might have been a cute companion, but his own survival came first. After praising the Pooch further, he gets to work finishing the job. Going to do experience training (and focused) at the same time, for Pooch. Pooch gets all the experience from the fight. (9+7)*1.2 = 19xp.

Sokka doesn't struggle to end the small purple pokemon's life with a quick wrench of its head. After, though, he finds the butchering process a lot harder than he was expecting without a nice sharp knife to help with the process. The Poochyena's claws help a bit, but not as much as he'd like. From the single harvest, Sokka manages to scavenge around 180 points of food. It's an oddly small pokemon that doesn't leave much after he gets rid of the inedible parts. He also manages 60 points of build scrap, mostly consisting of sinew and a bit of furred skin that wasn't too scarred up. He's disappointed to find that the pokemon's bones are far too small and brittle for the sake of being used for any sort of useful building. kjGN0INM1d20 1d20

"Better than nothing," he comments, putting the goods away for later use. His tummy was rumbling but the pokemon hadn't had much meat on its bones, unfortunately, and he still had yet to put a fire together to cook it properly. With a glance back the way he'd came, Sokka decided it was probably best to press on. Three days was long enough to spend in one place, and as much as the clearing had been trusty and free of enemies, it was probably time to give up on the hope that Aang and Katara would remember exactly where they'd left him. It wasn't the end of the world, really--he hadn't come across any Fire Nation soldiers yet, and even if they did he had backup in Chilly and... the dog, so surviving on his own wouldn't be that hard... right? He shook his head. "Okay. First of all, you need a name. Barky? No, you didn't want to bark... oh, you howled though, didn't you?" The pup tilts his head. "Like... like a viper-wolf? Awoooooo~?" Seeming to understand from that pathetic display, the Poochyena tilts his head back and lets loose another high-pitched (very puppy-like) howl. Sokka grins. "Right, well. Howl it is."Howl looking all the more eager at his side, Sokka heads away from the camp, looking once again for food--or anything else unusual... Sokka and Howl wander for a while. Their earlier fight seems to have scared anything that might have been nearby off, if not the strong scent of blood from the butchering. Sokka does manage to find a stream as he travels though, if the thin, shallow trickle of water can really be called a stream. Near the water source, he finds a patch of wild strawberries--enough to fill several handfuls, at least! They're much more /tart/ than the few he's had in the past. There's some good, tall grasses that grow nearby--Sokka recognizes them as sturdy enough to weave with, at least. They'd make decent build materials.
Near the berry bushes, Howl sniffs at the ground. As Sokka finishes collecting, the small dog lets out a soft bark. Under his nose, dug out from under the bush, is a small yellow shard of some shiny, bendable material. Sokka looks through the bush, and finds several other pieces as well as what seems like several intricately connected pieces of metal. It seems like some sort of...shattered device, originally yellow...maybe a circular disk shape, 2 inches thick. The front of it is still connected to the dangling metal shattered bits, a black circle with a thick white....symbol on it. It's a simple symbol, two lines, one starting at the center of the other and running perpendicular to it.

Sokka slowly gathered all of the pieces of the strange object, running his fingers over the foreign parts with eyebrows drawn together in confusion. "Good find, boy," he mumbled half-absently, "...I think?" Unsure of what to do with the pieces for the time being--he had no tools handy besides his boomerang, and definitely no paste to try and fix the ruddy thing--he put them carefully into one of his empty pouches and turned to the berries and heavy grasses. Those were some things he knew what to do with! He began to carefully gather as many of the strawberries as possible, shoving a number of them into his mouth as he ate. He cut a large bundle of grass as close to the roots as he could, hoping he wasn't messing up too many of them. Should I be rolling again for this stuff? Or using the above rolls? :S

He'll have eaten 100 food points worth of berries while picking them. His Mechanical Info page post updated. Satisfied for the time being, he has a second thought about the odd device Howl'd found earlier-- and lets the Poochyena sniff it to gather a scent. "Do you think you can track whoever this belongs to, buddy?" He asked, an edge of desperation to his voice. After all these days, to have another human being to talk to... at this point, he'd consider taking his chances with it being the Fire Nation, too. Howl sniffs at the pieces and lets out a warble he sniffs around the edge of the berry patch--around and between and seems particularly interested in a tree, where he digs at the ground for a few moments. He finds a small, shiny smooth packet of some kind. It's covered in symbols similar to the the on the face plate of that one device, white on one side and yellow on the other--or no...no, it's clear on the other side! The yellow comes from a thick, sour and salty paste of some kind that leaks out of a ripped edge of the pouch. Howl sniffs some more, but it's difficult. After a few minutes of walking, following the scent, the dog lets out a sorrowful howl as the trail goes cold in another tiny clearing. There's another of the small shiny pouches, this one unopened, and a scrap of purple fabric on the ground, but Howl doesn't seem to be able to find anything else that he can follow.

Intuition roll to determine whether or not the yellow paste is meant to be a food (or even edible): |ZuOeUWU3d6 Sokka tied the purple fabric to a point on his belt, and opened the second pouch carefully to see if the contents matched the ripped one. He didn't recognize the yellow paste, but wondered if it was some kind of foreign food or spread from the Earth Kingdom. The more food the better... even if it was made with vegetables, of all things. Beggars couldn't be choosers, right? He looked up to see where the sun was in the sky. How long had he been out and about already? Before it got too late into the evening he would have to set up a campfire in the very least, or else the meat from that odd monkey would go to waste. After stooping to drink a bit from the stream, he decided to follow it--a water source was always good, and people often built close to water, didn't they? Upstream or downstream I have no idea, just whichever is more in line with the direction he was walking earlier. Don't wanna backtrack! 3d6

Sokka is...pretty sure it's meant to be eaten? It's not the weirdest thing he's seen people eat. Might even go well on some grilled meat. Mmmmm. Meat...
Sokka follows the small stream of water as it flows through the forested area. It flows southwards, parallel to the path they took to find the second pouch, actually. The stream flows for about an hour of walking, wherein Sokka finds himself walking at a bit of an angle and stands above a valley, where the trees give way to lush grass and a hill that would probably make a good sledding hill, if there was some snow. At the bottom center of the valley is a small pool of still water that the stream trickles into. It's a still valley, covered in wild flowers. Near the pool, there's a vaguely humanoid shape pressing down the grass that Sokka can't make out the details of at such a distance.

Was that... a person? He skidded down the slope in a (mostly) controlled manner, only stumbling a bit when he reached the bottom and began to make a path through the tall grasses and wild flowers.
"Oi!" he called out, keeping Howl close to his side and his boomerang on hand. "Are you alive? Please tell me you're alive. The last thing I need right now is a dead body." he continues up to the flattened section of grass warily, hoping there would be a positive reaction... Or honestly, any reaction at all would be a good start.

Sokka stumbles down through the flowers--and he swears he sees something move out of the corner of his eye--but who /cares/ because that's totally a person! And as he gets closer, it's more and more obvious that it is--there's a young boy, skin flawless and pale, hair brown in huge spikes around his head, sleeping in a bed of grass and flowers. He's wearing bright red pants that balloon around his legs, huge yellow shoes, and an alarming number of zippers and chains. Fingerless gloves and a crown pendant finish him off. There's a small, brown furry fox looking creature curled up against his side, and there's a large, oversized metal weapon of some kind next to him--a long metal rod with metal teeth and a bright yellow handle, with a dangling charm that looks like one large sphere with two smaller ones coming off it.
As Sokka starts to talk near him, the boy doesn't open his eyes. He does shift, throwing an arm over his face. He mumbles something sleepily. The brown fox creature opens an eye and stares up at him, lifting its head in a yawn.

"Yo, kid." Sokka moves closer to the boy and nudges his shoe (those are massive shoes, he notes) with a foot warily. "Hey. Wake up. You have any idea where we are? Kid." He persists with annoyance until the boy shows some sign of being more aware of his surroundings. This field, being a bit too out in the open for his liking, was not a very desirable place to be, flowers or not.
Meanwhile Howl is a bit more edgy at his side, glancing around the area as if he expected to be attacked.

The boy grumbles, jerking his foot. After a few moments, his arm covering his eyes, he grumbles out, "Go /away/ Donald, I'll clean it...later..." He yawns, turning on his side and curling up. The small brown creature rests in the crook of his curving body, and stares up at Sokka. It lets out a yipping noise when Sokka doesn't move away, narrowing its eyes at him.
Howl, in the meantime, has found that there are quite a few living things near him. And...on him. There's a small, tiny sprite hovering that lands daintily on his nose and attempts to hold onto the fur with tiny hands, letting out a soft chiming noise. Several others stand on the flowers near them, watching curiously.

"'Donald'? What kinda name is 'Donald'?" Frustrated that the kid wouldn't seem to wake up no matter what--and that little pokemon beside him didn't look all too pleased, Sokka dropped his hands overdramatically to his sides and looked towards Howl. His words died in his mouth as he noticed the little... things surrounding his pup. He couldn't recall ever seeing anything like them. A shiver crawled across his skin, making the hair on his arms stand on end. Something that small couldn't possibly be a pokemon (one way or another, there wasn't enough meat on them to feed a mouse). Or... were they spirits? Just in case, he bowed to them politely, insecurity twisting his gut. Why were there so many of them--and around this boy, of all things? Was his garb--and the weird metal object beside him--signs of a shaman he was simply unfamiliar with? Sokka scowled, glancing around the flowery field. He wasn't sure if this meant he was more safe, or less so. He'd thought that finding another person would be a gleeful, reassuring occasion. Now he just had even more questions. He couldn't see a shelter in sight, so while the boy was sleeping he decided to start working on some things. First, a hatchet would be great for gathering more materials. Then a firepit would be useful, flames being a way to cook food and provide warmth. Maybe the construction would wake the kid up and he'd be able to help out. Providing this is a suitable build zone (I really hope it is!) Sokka's going to build a hatchet (150 scrap) and a firepit (300 scrap). Tech rolls will be below. I don't have a great idea of how big this valley is, but he'll build the firepit about 10 feet away from the pool of water. Also making a survival check to discern whether the water from the pool looks/smells reasonably safe to drink...

The ground is far too slanted and uneven for Sokka to manage a firepit that he doesn't worry would set the grasses and flowers nearby on fire. The more level land right next to the water is too soft and damp. The hatchet is much more manageable, though, and doesn't take Sokka long to finish. In the meantime, the tiny spirits have taken to landing on him as well, one hovering on his shoulder while several attempt to braid Howl's fur in neat sections.
The water seems reasonably safe. The tiny spirits don't hesitate to drink from it anyway, nor does the small brown fox creature that eventually gets up and wanders away from the sleeping boy to come watch Sokka, sitting neatly beside him. Maybe twenty minutes after settling in, the boy grumbles and yawns, sitting up with his eyes still closed and scratching through his...alarmingly, /alarmingly/ spiky hair that probably shouldn't be physically capable of moving like that. He opens his eyes, rubbing the crust away.
He stares at Sokka for a few long moments. "...you're not Donald..." He says, tilting his head. He looks around, and awareness enters his eyes. "Oh...oh, right, the forest." He mutters, looking up at the trees around the valley. He jerks his head back at Sokka, eyes widening. "You're human!" He says, grinning. "Are you a native of this world? Do you know what this world is...actually? I think my gummy ship crashed a few days ago, but I haven't even been able to find any blocks or anything from the crash, let alone the ship..." He frowns.

Sorry for the longer-than-expected delay ;__; After giving up hope that a fire pit would work in the area, he hears the boy wake up and wanders back over warily, his new hatchet clutched in one hand. The boy didn't recognize his clothing--good--and didn't know where he was either. Even better. "I am Sokka the Fierce and Powerful, greatest warrior of the northern Water Tribe! State your name and your business, and... er..." he blinked rapidly, trying to figure out whether this kid would be a burden to him (or full of surprises, like the last boy he found asleep in the middle of nowhere). "A-and then perhaps we can forge an alliance!" He nodded, more to himself than anyone else. That had sounded rather impressive, hadn't it? He didn't dare ask what a 'gummy ship' was or why it needed 'blocks'. Was the kid part of a sea crew-- a pirate perhaps? He didn't look the part... Guile, as requested: dzTi2MAU1d6 1d6
