As the first 'Grimer' screams and assaults Clay, several more come swarming out of puddles or other such places nearby. There are 5 in total, each targeting a different person. Battle begins with a 'surprise round' as the Grimer Horde make their initial moves. After, initiative begins as normal from the top.

Sano gags at the stench of the glob in front of him, as he staggers back. Covering his mouth and nose with one hand, he releases Mitis with the other.
Sano Disengages, shifting 1 meter back and Releases Mitis, who joins Initiative.
Mitis pops out of her ball and smacks the nearest Grimer with her tail.

Tiki recoils as a big glop of mud hits her, and some getting in her eye. Tiki yelps, "Uaghh! It's in my eye! Help!" She scrubs at her eye, as Star moves from behind Tiki and puts itself between her, and the grimers.

"Ack! Pbbbth!" Clay tries to claw the stinking muck out of his face, shaking his head. "Gerroff!" One of those hits is going to leave a lovely bruise in the morning; for a formless pile of glop it hits pretty hard.
He flails back at the goopy Pokémon in front of him, the one he managed to pull up on the stick. Despite the mud in his face he tries to keep calm enough to aim his strikes well, but it's hard to be sure where to aim at a mud monster.
"Sandy! Show these mud things who's boss!" The Mudkip trills and leaps forward, spraying water at the Grimer in front of Clay as well. He's in his element here, after all.

Grimer #3 gets beaten up by Star while Sano and Clay direct their own Pokemon to enter the fray. Clay smacks the sludgy monsters, but finds his strikes to be less effective than he would have liked. Sandy's Water Gun proves far more effective than Clay's physical strikes, however. After, Tiki begins to hum a lullaby that puts Grimer #s 1 and 5 to sleep (the only two within 2 meters).

"Oof!" Clay is really not enjoying himself here. With the Grimer in front of him asleep, though, he turns his attention to the one that's still throwing mud at him. "Stop that!"
He closes the distance between them and lashes out with a low heel kick. Against something that actually had legs, the attack might trip his opponent up - hopefully it'll at least make the sludgy thing a little more cautious.
Clay shifts toward Grimer 4 and attacks with Low Sweep. AC 2 vs qBFJ23ks1d20-2; 2d6+19 Physical Fighting damage and target's Speed CS -1

Clay is starting to realize that his fists and feet aren't accomplishing much here... not to mention that hitting piles of reeking swamp slime is extremely unpleasant. What he needs is more leverage. He shakes Grimer goo off his foot and swings his staff in a wide arc, slamming the end into the hardening sludge coating his target.
Clay uses Bash! on Grimer #4. AC 3 vs RUMtV6Rg1d20-2; 2d10+19 Normal Physical damage. On 15+, target's Initiative drops to 0 for one full round.
"Sandy! Back me up!" Sandy wheels around to do just that, edging around him to spray more water at the Grimer. Hopefully the Water Gun will bypass the hardening slime.

Tiki eyes the battered sludge, when a thought pops into her head. "Oh yeah!" She reaches into her bag. and pulls out a pokeball. "Yeah! Hopefully this will do it." Tiki rears back, and flings a pokeball at the grimer. "Here. We. Go!"
Capture Roll on Grimer 3: Pokeball AC 6 vs KsHcZtot1-20; Capture Check: 1-20
Tiki cheers, and jumps with joy at her successful catch.
Feeling a little concerned for Star, Tiki swaps her out. "Great job, Star. Come on back! Justice, it's your time to shine too!" She takes Justice's ball from her bag, and tosses it. The chikorita pops out out of its' ball, lands, and lets out a valiant cry. "Chiko!!"
Activate Quick Switch and Juggler ("Trigger: Your Pokémon Faints; or an opponent sends out a Pokémon Effect: You may return and send out a Pokémon as a Free Action. You may perform this Feature on your turn without a Trigger. Pokémon sent out by Quick Switch cannot trigger another trainer’s Quick Switch. When you swap Pokémon using Quick Switch, you do not lose a Pokémon turn.")
(Using Quick Switch costs only 1 AP. Whenever you send a Pokémon into an encounter from a Poké Ball, they receive a +10 bonus to their Initiative during that round.)
Tiki shifts her focus to one of the sleeping grimer. "While it's out, get 'em Justice!"

Grimer #3 is pelted by a Poke Ball and sucked inside! Moments later, it flashes, indicating a successful capture. (Grimer is level 10, Relaxed, Male, with the Stench Ability.)
Grimer #5 is bull-rushed by Justice the Chikorita and sent sprawling backwards. It wakes up suddenly, confused by what just happened.
Grimer #4 takes a renewed beating from Clay, then is hosed down into a puddle by Sandy. It reforms after a moment, but seems more sluggish than before. It must be weakening!

The remaining Grimer don't seem to know what that mewling sound was, but it distracts them somewhat, allowing Sano to tag one with a Poke Ball as well.

Tiki's eyes go wide as a smoke cloud envelops her friends; Justice especially. The chikorita wanders out of the gas without her trademark goofy smile, and coughing. "Justice!? You..." Tiki then grinds her teeth, pulls out her knife with a flourish, and lets out a scream of anger.
Supersonic on Grimer 5 Supersonic AC 6 vs w|3zgS241-20 (The target becomes Confused. On miss, the target suffers a -2 penalty to Accuracy Rolls for one full round.)

Clay doubles over coughing in the cloud of fumes. There's a little sneeze from ground level as Sandy's caught as well, but Clay is definitely looking green around the gills. "Ughhh... stop that! C'mon, Sandy, let's teach this thing a lesson!" He jabs at the Grimer with his staff again - he's vaguely aware that the one that initially attacked him is awake, but splitting his focus seems like a dangerous proposition. Better to take this one down first.
Clay uses Struggle on Grimer #4! AC 5 vs ihGbOdrw1d20-2; 2d6+17 Physical Normal damage.
He's looking a little wobbly now, though. Sandy fires off another Water Gun, but winds up giving a squeaky little cough of his own. He's still obviously in much better shape than Clay.
