"Okay, okay!" Clay isn't about to admit that he's not experienced in swamps, just out in the wild in general. He's pretty confident in his navigation at least.
But he does want to catch one of these before he leaves. He singles out one of the larger candles with a big grin - he'd like to take on the biggest, but Sandy's still pretty small and Clay doesn't want to push him too hard. Okay, buddy! I challenge you! If I win, you come with me!
[After the battle]
Clay breathes a sigh of relief as the ball closes, and he scoops it up. Great job, Sandy! He rubs the Mudkip's head behind its fin affectionately before turning back to the others. "Okay, let's go! I think I can get us there..."
And since they're insistent that he lead, he sets off to the west, waving goodbye to the candles as he goes. See you around!

Tiki claps, and whistles. She goes up to Clay, and says, "Great job, Clay! You got your fire type, and it looks really special too! That is one mission down, and I believe 3 to go? Find the disturbance, and Sano and I need new pokemon!" She grins, and brings everyone in for a group hug. "Let's keep it up guys!"

Sano winces a little as Tiki pulls him in, but the prospect of catching another Pokemon is exciting. He looks around for a particularly smoggy area where a Koffing or Venonat might be lurking.

Nothing here but regular old swamp gas. And mud. And... whatever else swamps have.
Point 6: The group is just trudging along, minding their own business.. with the ever-silent Divini floating in the back. Until someone notices that Divini isn't just silent, she isn't even there anymore! She seems to have vanished at some point!

Tiki is happily strolling along when she goes to move some low hanging leaves out of the way. "Boy, it sure is difficult to get around in this place." She reaches for Divini's sleeves, but grasps at nothing. Tiki looks around and sees no one behind her. She freezes, and stares at where Divini would be floating. She then turns back to the others. "Ummm...huh...uhhh....UMMMM!!" At a loss for words, Tiki flails her arms about, and points to the empty space beside her.

"Huh?" Clay turns around to try and figure out what Tiki is failing to communicate. "Geeze, Tiki, even I'm past the waving and grunting... wait. Oh. Whoops."
He glances around worriedly. "Hey, Sano? We lost a floaty lady." He didn't say he was much past the waving and grunting stage. He cups his hands to his mouth and shouts out into the swamp. "HEY DIVINI! WHERE ARE YOU?"
This is probably a bad idea but Clay's reasonably confident they can take care of anything that comes to investigate them.

Clay makes a weird noise in the back of his throat that almost sounds like a laugh - it's hard to learn to curse when you're raised by gibbons - and leans down to shake Tiki. "Hey, come on, wake up! This is not a good place to sleep."
He'll leave Sano to look around and figure out what's going on, at least to start with. Mostly because he's still somewhat easy to distract.

Sano is unable to see anything, but people don't just randomly fall asleep in the middle of a swamp. Or at least, most people don't. With some effort, Tiki is awoken.

Tiki's eyes slowly open up, and lets out a soft, "Bwuah....." She sits up, and tries to shake off her groggy state. She rubs her face, but recoils as she spreads mud and dirt everywhere. "Eeewww...Wha-...What happened?..." She gives a big yawn, as a worried Star hops into her lap, and looks up at her.

"I have no idea..." Sano glances around, trying to find any source for the sudden sleepiness.
"I felt nothing, and Clay seems okay so it has the trappings of a single target attack. Perhaps there is a Pokemon messing with us somewhere?"

Sitting out randomly on a rock in the middle of a rather large pool of fetid water is a berry. It's hard to tell what kind it is from here, but it looks sort of orange-ish?

Tiki comes to a halt at the edge of the water, puts her hand to her brow to block light, and peers out at the berry. "Oi! Check it out! Out there is a berry! Think we can get it?" Tiki grimaces at all the nasty looking water.

"Maybe... Want me to try to get it?" Clay wrinkles his nose a little, squinting at the berry. "Geez, this water smells funny." Despite being raised by Fire-types, Clay doesn't have much objection to water in and of itself, but this particular water seems pretty unpleasant.
He looks around for a stick or a rock to test how deep the water is.

Rocks are in short supply, but there are a few dead branches on the ground that are usable. You find a particularly large one (about half your height) and stick one end into the stagnant water. The smell that is released on disturbing the water is even worse than before. Just then, something grabs the stick and pulls!
Make an Athletics check! (Others may also roll to assist, with each assistant granting a +1 bonus.)
