"Oooohh Ok." Zoey seemed pretty lonely. Being somewhere out in the woods, and her mom not around. But why did she have access to the castle basement, and an underground city? This girl seemed cool. She seemed playful and cute, but who was she really?....Anyways, she looked like someone who just followed Rei because she was super bored, and not because this was going to be Tiki's replacement...."I do wanna see that place. Seems spooky. Oh. I saw you had that Eevee. What other kind of pokemon you got?"

Rei listens as Clay and Tiki's day seemed to have gone about as well as hers. Although she grimmaces 'slightly' at the mention of them trying to get help from Darkrai. She herself has lost too much faith in legends. She continues to listen to his statement of his goal/request before finally responding.
"I was wondering if this ever would come up. Your parents, I mean. But yeah 'maybe' they were past guildies. Although... there could be a ton of reasons they were out with you. But I suppose with the guild being such a local establishment it's a great place to start. I would suggest to you to maybe look for anyone with your similar gifts. Gifts like your aura tend to be passed down through birth. Usually not by 'accident'. You said your branch knew a bit about aura, right? Getting their help in the search may be the way to go. Or at least some direction to go on."
She pauses.
"As for requests..."
Flashes of some of her thoughts come into her head (Finding a way to kill D'mara, gaining power, that strange piece of paper she found in the library), but she decides to keep that to herself and shakes her head.
"I have none for you there. I've been in both the psychic branches occultist leaning library and the grandest library in the nation and haven't come up with much. I've really got no more to research or hope that it'll actually help."
She rubs her temples.
"But moving on, it is expected that D'mara is covering her tracks. I went into the castle basement... and by sheer chance I stumbled on a pathway to D'mara's secret mansion. No, I am not kidding. It was about as clean as you described, outside of one very clear thing..."
Rei turns, unable to face him.
"Zoey is D'mara's daughter."

Zoey glances back, and Tiki notices the "Eevee" has mysteriously disappeared, and there is now an extra chair at the nearby table. Strange, she doesn't recall seeing anyone move a chair. She giggles as she turns back to Tiki. "Well, my 'bodyguard' Pokemon, Ty, is a bit too large and scary-looking to show off in here, so you can meet him later, buuuut, I'm sure all my other cute friends would love to meet you!" She produces four additional apricorn balls from her shoulder-bag.

Clay has a lot he could say, especially about Rei's suggestion - which is a good one apart from being hampered by the fact that everybody he talks to says they've never seen abilities like his before. The only exception is Brenda, who still doesn't connect as easily or as closely with Pokémon as he does according to the Blaziken. He gets about as far as saying, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna let this get in the way of -" when Rei looks away and drops that last bit of information.
"She's what." That's kind of stopped his whole line of thought about his private search. "Okay, so D'Mara cleans up after herself, that makes sense... but she left her kid behind? She doesn't care about anybody, does she?"

She stays looking away, extracting a berry as an excuse to not look back to hide the guilt on her face.
"From what she's said, it looks like D'mara raised her out of obligation rather than anything else. She told the mansion's servants to keep her there and she was never let out. Once I found out D'mara was her mother I wanted to leave her there but... She seemed so lonely I couldn't leave her there. So I invited her to come along."
She puts the berry away and sighs.
"Talking to her about what we are doing has to be done delicately. Especially with-"
Rei stops herself. He can't know.
"Nevermind."

Tiki marvels at some Pokemon she had never seen before. She also shows & tells with some of her own Pokemon as well. A thought popped into Tiki's head.
"Hey! I actually have lots more Pokemon who are apart of my team. Wanna go to where I stay, and see 'em. It's just a short walk, and the others are busy talking. Wanna ride ontop of my Tauros?"
Tiki thought she might as well start having some fun. Seeing this hyper active girl definitely made Tiki remember some traits she lacked for a while now. Also a lack of friends was a thing, so why not jump at the chance for a new friend?

"Sure!" Zoey chirps excitedly. "Come on, ZsaZsa, we're going out for a while!" The mystery chair then begins...moving. On its own. It follows them out, while several other patrons in the inn pointedly ignore it. Probably under the impression that 'it's best not to ask' or something. Once outside, the chair is now gone, replaced by something wholly different. This fox-like Pokemon stands almost as tall as Zoey, with a fabulous mane of curly red hair. It waves at Tiki with a snicker. Zoey seems completely unperturbed by this, like it's perfectly normal for her "Eevee" to suddenly become a chair, and then turn into...whatever this is.

"With the fact that we're gonna have to take down her mom, and probably do worse than that?" Clay remembers Rei's estimate of how likely D'Mara is to start doing her proper duties as Death perfectly well, and frankly he shares it. Though the question of who'll have to do the deed and take over is a different one. Clay's never intentionally killed anything for any reason besides food - and even that only rarely - and doesn't really like the thought of starting, even with someone as deserving as D'Mara, but if it's absolutely necessary...
"I mean, if I thought my parents had left me behind just because they couldn't be bothered, I wouldn't want to defend them, I'd wanna beat them up myself. But maybe it's different if you've been through it." He shakes his head. "I dunno how much sense of obligation D'Mara's going to hang on to. She's already using her students as puppets... Bringing Zoey along is probably the right thing, especially if D'Mara decides she's more of a loose end than a daughter. But it means we're gonna have to either dump her, or let her in on the thing, 'cause I don't think all of us are gonna be able to keep it a secret if she's around all the time."
Privately, he's kind of glad. What little he's seen of Rei lately has been so cold that it's good to see the side of her that took Holly in again. "I'm all for telling her and letting her make her own decisions, honestly. Trying to keep her in the dark isn't gonna end well." This is his honest opinion even if it's also kind of a jab at how little Rei's been telling him about what she's doing.

Clay sighs quietly, as if this is less a surprise than an inevitability. "I know. We were always gonna have to, weren't we? If D'Mara planned to be a good death god we wouldn't be in this mess to start with. And she's done things that can't be forgiven. I don't like it but I'm pretty sure there's no way around it without doing something worse, like messing with her brain."
The additional information about Zoey's attitude to D'Mara kind of puts an unpleasant wrinkle in telling Zoey about what they're doing. Clay's shoulders slump a little. "I know what you mean, but she's gonna have to find out somehow. If we wanna be her friends we owe it to her to tell her at some point, or she's gonna wind up doing something like trying to stop us fighting D'Mara when we get down to it and we're gonna have to do something I'll like even less."

Rei turns back around, not really expecting Clay to have those kind of thoughts. She still has her arms folded, and can't look him straight in the eye, but the fact CLAY was thinking these at least gives her some pause about her actions lately. She had assumed that he would oppose her on this.
"The main issue is actually killing her. She is effectively death right now. And I've been warned about some of Yveltal's other abilities that makes me think we shouldn't kill her around anything living IF she has her powers. So we either need to remove them, or get her far away from living things."
Remembering her conversation with Namira gives her an idea.
"Actually if you DO go back to Saffron, I met a girl with long black hair called 'Namira'. She said she was kind of a scholarly member of the psychic branch? But she seemed to know a LOT about Yveltal but she was being shifty. If you could find her she knows 'something'."
She looks off to the side.
"But with Zoey that 'is' going to be something we need to talk about. She more or less guessed we are opposing her mother but she doesn't know the extent of her plans. Or ours. She still believes there's good in her, and we'd have to convince her otherwise before she is truely on our side."

Clay raises his eyebrows at the look on Rei's face. "... Were you really trying to hide stuff from me just 'cause we were going to take out D'Mara eventually? I know people have to die sometimes, Rei. I don't really like it - I've never killed a Mankey in a territory fight or anything and I'd be upset if I did it by accident. But D'Mara's not going to back down 'cause we beat her, or decide we're too much trouble and go find lunch somewhere else like a normal predator."
He blinks and cocks his head thoughtfully when Rei mentions looking for this 'Namira' person. "I didn't see anybody like that when we went there before, but all I really saw was Lady Anya. The Psychic Branch are kinda... somewhere else right now. Don't ask me where, Lady Anya teleported Tiki and me there when we went to their wing looking for them. I'll give it a shot, but I'm just warning you - I dunno if she's going to want to bring me back just because I was looking for somebody. She's nice, but they're hiding for a reason."
Clay leans against the wall with a sigh. "Okay, so Zoey's... what's the word? Optimismic about D'Mara. I'd say let her try to bring the good out of her, except that D'Mara pretty much left her locked in a house to go on her world domination thing, so I don't think it's gonna happen." He rubs his forehead. "Ugh. People are so hard. Anyway I think the dying-around-living-things deal is probably something Xerneas can help with, if it can block her Auras or whatever too."

Tiki jaw drops when a moving chair becomes a pokemon! "Wooow! Sooo coool!" She circles, and inspects the super cool pokemon. When she is done marveling at Zoey's poke, Tiki brings out her Tauros. "This here is Toppo. He can get a bit wild, but he is calm most times. Hop on up." Tiki helps Zoey onto Toppo's back, hands her the reigns, and they start at a pace towards the mansion.

The pair soon arrive at the mansion, and after a quick walk through its halls, they arrive at Tiki's room. She guides a bunch of the smaller pokes outside to group up with some of the larger ones. Tiki shows off some of her mainstays like Star, Lovers, and even the shiny Aeon. Some of the small critters are busy running around like Sookie and Tower. Justice happily chases after the Floof army who are riding ontop of porygon. The larger mons like Empress, Chariot, and Strength lounge around in the sun. World the Goodra quickly lumbers over to give its trainer a big slimy hug. From the dragons loving, goopy grasp, Tiki looks to Zoey. "Here's the family! What do you think?"

Rei flinches when she’s accused.
”I... I was. When we conversed with Xernes, you seemed more on that side of the debate. The side of life, and order. But it’s also the fact that I’m not talking killing in defense. I’m talking about murder. She can’t live, Clay. Not with that power. If she gives it up, fine. Let her rot in chains. But if she agrees to just become death, then I will never feel safe again. The gods let one of their own die! Do you think they will notice when we pass from this world and we enter hers? What she’ll do to us?”
She turns toward the rooms window.
”No, she has to die. I will lose my mind trying to live forever otherwise...”
She rubs her temple and turns back.
”As for the other things: Namira I may suspect may not have gone with them. She may be around the guild. And it’s more of a ‘If you find her’ sort of thing. And Zoey... We will have to find some way to prove she’s behind some of this. Or that she really doesn’t care. Until then we tread lightly.”

Zoey happily runs off to play with all of Tiki's Pokemon who will let her. She lets all of her own back out to join the fun. All of the smallish ones eagerly join the party, while the one Tiki hadn't seen before, Ty, stands watch nearby. Just keeping an eye on Zoey.

"Rei, she's killed two of our friends, tried to kill you, and I still don't know what she did to Holly when she had her. She uses people she should be teaching and looking out for like puppets. Just because I don't like killing unless I have to doesn't mean I don't know when somebody needs to die. Whether or not she's trying to rip our throats out right at the moment, she's a killer and she's got her eyes on us."
He huffs quietly and folds his arms. "If you really think she's going to manage to fool every god who sees her that she's not gonna abuse her power, sure, I'm with you. I realize you've got less faith in 'em than I do - I mean, like, as people, not as gods - but I don't think they're all that stupid. Xerneas for sure knows what she's done to get to this point." Lowering his voice a little, he adds, "And I don't think they let the old death die any more than we let Sano and Divini die - they didn't know anybody was after it, they didn't even know this was possible. But yeah. If she doesn't give it up, then she has to die. I just think she's more likely to spit in all their faces than actually convince them she'll do the job."
Clay slides down the wall until he thumps to the floor in a sitting position. "Okay, I get your point about Zoey. I just don't think we can hold off on telling her for very long before the decision gets made for us."

Rei just listens silently to his response. Ignorance isn’t an excuse, really. The gods can’t act like all powerful and appoint humans as champions in one hand and feign not knowing in the other. She opts to not speak on this point.

Clay sighs and picks himself back up off the floor. "Yeah, you're right, of course." He's repeated his point enough that there's no reason to say it again.
"Well, if you don't have any suggestions I'll just have to see if I can find anything useful there on my own. If I get a chance to talk to Miss G and get into the Archives, I mean."
He runs a hand through his hair. "Guess we should go see how the others are doing, huh?"
