Clay considers the door for a moment. On the one hand, Clay is pretty good at hitting people hard, but a door is another matter, especially one meant to hold up to people hitting it. It's not like busting boards, those are meant to be pretty easy to break even if you're not very strong... which Clay isn't, really. He's small and skinny, he just knows how and where to hit people and make it hurt. So he considers the door, considers himself, then considers his belt. And calls out the biggest and bulkiest Pokémon he has with him. The room abruptly gets a bit more crowded with the addition of a large and eager to please Arcanine. "Okay, buddy. What I need you to do is hit this door right here as hard as you can." Red Child makes a low "whuff" sort of noise in acknowledgement, then backs up as far as he can and charges the door. Red Child slams into the office door with all his physical might. This snaps off the deadbolt lock and flings the door open, causing it to crash into the doorstop set up on the wall specifically for this. The downside to all of this? The door was trapped, obviously. Red Child vanishes suddenly into a darkened portal, then is dumped back at Clay's feet unconscious as the portal fades just as quickly as it appeared.
Red Child is Fainted and has 0 Current HP with 3 injuries.

Tiki blinks for a moment, and checks on the big Arcanine. "Oh my gosh! Grrr!...This place sucks!" Tiki gets up, and looks into the now open doorway.

The room looks like a typical office space that you'd find in any building, though there are a few more of those glowy, spiny fern plants inside. Bigger ones too.

"Oh what the damn!" That's when Red Child vanishes. The minute he reappears Clay hurries over to check on him as well, trying to figure out where or how badly he's injured. After a moment he sighs and recalls Red Child. "Okay, weird space-hole booby traps. Can she just set those up, do you think, or does this mean she knows we're here?" The only person he's ever seen do that is D'Mara herself. He frowns at the plants that fill the room. "I was wondering if she just kept a dangerous plant for decoration because she's weird, but this is definitely on purpose. Wonder if we can burn these or if that would just put poison in the air. Poison plants do that sometimes. Maybe we better just try to work around them."Clay starts looking around the room for anything useful, peering into cubbyholes and rattling drawers in hopes of finding one with something useful inside. Or just one that's locked, which might mean there's something useful inside. Med Edu (what injured Red Child?): D4UH1puu2d6 Perception (search the room): 2d6 2d6·2d6

Tiki moves around carefully. "Save one to take to the infirmary. I'm sure they would be interested in seeing it. Burn the rest if ya want. The grass, and poison branch would be helpful here..."

Clay discovers several nasty lacerations on Red Child's flanks, like something clawed him up pretty good. Now, he's had experience in looking at wounds caused by things with claws, but this doesn't look like anything he's seen. Mankey claws aren't big enough to do this, and most other mountain-dwelling pokemon are rock types. Maybe a Charmeleon could do this, but that doesn't fit with the theme. Just then, a thought occurs to him. That weird 'disaster Pokemon' that followed Tiki home that one time (whatever happened to it anyway? Did it just leave on its own?). It had nice-looking claws on its feet. It would make sense if D'Mara had one of those herself, though Clay can't recall ever having seen it; or any Pokemon that D'Mara has, come to think of it. Eh, questions for later. In any case, Red Child is cut up pretty bad, but it's nowhere near life-threatening. A trip to the infirmary would probably be enough to fix him right up. Whatever did that to him though, is probably not something Clay would enjoy fighting.
While Clay is examining Red Child's wounds, Tiki examines the room itself; avoiding the poisonous plants obviously. No need for a second head trip, after all. The desk is rather sparse, decorated by one of the smaller variants of the glowy, poisonous plant, with a fine layer of dust sitting atop it. Well, dust covers rather the entire office space. Except the plants. Either they somehow repel dust, or they glow brightly enough for it to be unnoticeable without touching it. Well, that or they're new additions. New additions would indicate that they were placed here more recently, but without disturbing the layer of dust that settled on everything else. Maybe more 'portal' shenanigans? D'Mara seems to like those, after all. All of the drawers are openable, though one has a lock on it. All are empty but for a few scattered office supplies.

Clay taps his chin thoughtfully as he recalls Red Child. "Hey, Tiki. You remember that black and white Pokémon that was following you and Rei around for a while, before you left the Guild? The one with the one big curved horn on its head. Did you ever see it after you left?"
He gets up to follow Tiki around the room - and zeroes in on the locked drawer. "I don't think I'll risk burning these things. You burn poison plants, sometimes you get poison smoke. You're right about grabbing the one outside to check out, though. This drawer... Think you can help me get it open?"
He gives it one gentle tug, to see if he can get a sense of how firmly the lock sticks it in place. If he had Kaa here they could open it from somewhere safe across the room with his vines, but unfortunately Kaa is back in Celadon. All the same, Fan chitters a concerned noise - she's moving around the room too, trying to light things up for their search without brushing up against the plants, and she doesn't like the idea of Clay falling into another trap like the one that caught Red Child. Clay waves her off, though. "I'll be fine, sis. We gotta figure out what's going on somehow. No danger, no results."

The drawer with the lock on it is actually not locked, and opens easily, revealing an empty space. Seems like D'Mara cleaned the place out and doesn't plan on coming back anytime soon.

"... Well."Clay sighs and runs a hand through his hair. He gives a casual glance around the room. "Is there another door out of here?" Or, failing an obvious door, maybe there was a secret one... He may be grasping at straws, trying to find anything that made coming here worthwhile, apart from proving that the Dark Branch had been gone long enough for things to get all dusty. Come to think of it... He starts examining the dust more closely, looking for tracks that weren't made by their little group. If there is a hidden door somewhere, all this dust would make it easier to find traces - assuming it had been used recently, of course. By someone with feet. "Hey, see if you can find footprints that aren't ours? I'm starting to wonder if there isn't like a secret door around here or something. D'Mara would totally do that."Fan immediately starts treading more carefully as she picks up on the search. Neither Clay nor Fan can spot any extraneous footprints in the dust. Aside from their little group, seems nobody has been in here for ages, despite the odd lack of dust on the glowing plants and their pots.

Tiki feels around the drawer with the lock on it for any secret compartments. "Umm...No. I don't remember seeing a pokemon like that."

Tiki finds no secret compartments within the drawer. Which seems unusual for such a secretive person at first, but then, 'secret compartment within a drawer' is a fairly obvious trope, and D'Mara seems to be focused on obfuscating as much information about herself and her habits as possible. Thus, she is unlikely to use one of the 'common' tropes in literary works.

Clay sighs quietly. "Nothing. Well, if there's nothin' else here we can grab the plants and see if somebody in Grass Branch recognizes 'em. I've never seen anything like 'em, maybe if they're from somewhere special it might tell us where to look next." He pauses and admits, grudgingly, "Poison might know, too, I guess. But out of the two of them I'd expect Grass to still have somebody here. They gotta have somebody to take care of the plants, right? They can't just pick up the whole garden and bring it with them."
Well, that, and he wasn't exactly very impressed with the Poison Branch leader the last time he saw her, so even if they're still here too, he'd kind of prefer Grass Branch first.
"I'll get the little one from outside, 'less you really want to carry it."

Tiki shudders, and steps out. "Ugh. No thanks. You can carry it." Tiki sighs, and scratches her head. "Investigating here was a bust I guess. Anything else in the guild worth investigating?"

"Apart from seeing about these stupid plants, I don't think so. I gotta have the healers see Red Child and then we can head out to the plains like you wanted to do yesterday, I guess."
Clay follows her out of the office; he doesn't particularly try to prop up the broken door. It's not like D'Mara doesn't know they're looking for her. He leans down and takes hold of the pot with the glowing fern outside the office, carefully avoiding touching it.
"Hey, uh, do you know how to get to Grass Branch?" It's probably not that hard to find, but Clay has a plant in front of his face now so navigating is a bit challenging.

For just a moment, it seems as if the plant is infinitely heavier than it really is; but then it isn't. Nothing out of the ordinary about its weight. Heck, it came and went so fast that Clay may not even have noticed it. Either way, he and Tiki continue on and find somebody to direct them to the greenhouse at the back of the building where the Grass Branch hangs out. Poison Branch turns out to be just around the corner from it, not that Clay wants to go back there. It's quite possible that the Bug Branch is nearby as well, but with no real reason to go looking for it, Clay just heads on over to Grass Branch. Thankfully for him and Tiki, someone is actually tending to the plants when they enter and is able to guide them to the part of the Branch where the adventurers actually stay. They are escorted to the Branch Leader's office.
"Welcome to Grass Branch, my friends. My name is Sage, and I am the one in charge of the greenhouse and the Grass Branch in general. I see you have brought a plant for me. Please, set it down here on my desk so I can examine it." When Clay does so, she questions him about his reasons for bringing it here. Bio-luminescence is rare, but not unheard of in plants.

Clay takes a deep breath. He'd been quiet about their investigating the Dark Branch to the healers mostly because he didn't know how well in the loop they were about the situation with D'Mara, but Sage is a Branch Leader, so surely she's been kept more or less up to speed.
"Okay, so you know the whole... thing with D'Mara and the Dark Branch? We've been sorta dealing with that. We were checking around the Dark Branch, and this thing was sitting outside the door to her office. And it's full of bigger ones. Uh, Tiki tried to handle it yesterday, and it hit her with some kind of poison? The healers said it was..."
He trails off, trying to remember the word. "Hal-loose... in-oh-gic? Is that right? Anyway, she didn't exactly leave a lot of clues lying around, and there was at least one weird trap, so we were wondering if you knew what these things were and maybe where they were from, so we could figure out if it tells us anything or if she just put them around everywhere to be a pain."

"Yeah what he said! I tried to pluck some leaves, and it jabbed me with something! Then everything went all crazy! I saw lots of colors, and the world went all swirly. Lots of of other crazy stuff too." Tiki shudders as she recalls her bad trip.

Sage listens carefully as Tiki describes the effects of the plant, then leans in close to it to examine it herself. She slips on a pair of gardening gloves and begins to carefully handle it. After a quick brush of it, she pulls her hand away and holds it up to them. Her glove is covered in tiny spines that glisten ever so slightly when the light hits them just right.
"These spines here are likely what poisoned you, Miss Tiki. They are this plant's natural defense mechanism against being eaten/damaged." She picks up a pair of tweezers and begins to slowly remove each of the spines from her thick glove, placing them in a small dish for later examination. "You see how the spines glisten ever so slightly? That's the poison that the plant excretes. I'll send a sample next door to Leader Nalkeya for analysis. This may aid us in determining where this plant may come from as well as creating a proper antidote should it become necessary to do so. As of right now, I can only reassure you that the additional plants in Lady D'Mara's office will be removed and brought here by my own Branch Members for safekeeping while I study it." She smiles at Clay. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention, though I wish you wouldn't have tried to touch it before consulting me in the first place. Who knows what may have happened." She looks to Tiki. "I trust this will teach you to be more cautious around strange plants in the future? Plants can be just as deadly as any Pokemon under the right circumstances. Woe to any would-be Adventurer who does not remember this."
