Rei pauses as things become a little awkward.

Namira ponders a moment before responding. "Hmmmm.. I suppose this one. Psychic. It's the only one out of the specific Branches with a decent library. I'm more of a scholarly member though. I don't even own a Pokemon."

Rei felt like she should go at this point. Something about Namira was off. She seemed like a font of knowledge, but Rei can't ask her the questions she really wants to without trusting her, considering its all doom dream related. And Rei is getting the feeling letting that slip to her is a bad idea somehow.
Rei moves to get up.
"I should probably go check the other Library out. I should save my reading for later. As... Well I have something unpleasant in the morning and if it goes bad I may not want to leave my room for a while. My reading could be done there. It was nice to meet you."
Rei gives a little polite bow and turns to leave.

Clay wanders back into the guild in a better mood than he has done the past couple of days. His losing streak seems to have finally broken, which is nice. And means he's not leaking money quite so badly anymore.
He considers the staff Master Nob gave him thoughtfully. It's certainly served him well, but it's starting to look a little beaten up beyond what he can do to maintain it, and his fighting style has evolved a lot even considering the relatively short time he's been at the guild. He's certainly not going to get rid of it entirely - it has sentimental value if nothing else - but maybe it's time to consider that he needs something new.
Where does one start looking for a new staff? He wanders down to where the guild merchants operate in hopes of finding someone who can point him the right way.

Rei finds a fair bit of information about the Lunar Duo, almost everything she could ever want to know and then some speculation to top it off. Now, the accuracy of it is probably in question, but it seems less biased than the book on Oneiromancy, and even cites a few scholarly sources, so hopefully it is more accurate. Not like you can really fact check a book about quasi-mythical beings anyway.
Clay, meanwhile, finds the Guild Vendors with a little bit of work. It's in an area of the Guild he's never been to before. Thankfully, his wandering feet took him where he wanted to go. They tell him that if it's weapons work he wants done, they outsource that to a local Smith elsewhere in the city. Granted, this man only works in metals, but a metal staff would surely be sturdier than a wooden one, and not too difficult to make. They offer him directions to the smithy in question.

Rei grabs a few of the best books to take out and gathers them up in her arms, and tries to carefully carry all the books back to her room. If anyone wishes to find her, she'd be more likely to crash into them at this point.

Clay takes the directions gratefully and heads back from the vendors, wondering whether it's too late in the day to go see this smith guy now. He should... maybe be paying more attention to where he's going, because when he crosses the hall leading away from the library he walks right into somebody.
"Oh, wow, I'm sorry, I didn't even see you there! Here, lemme... oh, hi, Rei. Sorry." He gives her a sheepish grin when he recognizes her. Frankly, if Rei had a big enough stack of books she might just have flat-out not seen him over them, as short as he is. Either way he leans down to start trying to gather up any of them that dropped. "Didn't know you were back yet. How was being underground for days?"

"Oh I'm sorry- Clay! There you are! I was about to go look for you when I dropped these off!"
She and him pick up the rest of the books, and she sighs and sets them down so she can actually 'see' him.
"Yes I got back not too long ago. Rock Tunnel was... well it was full of pokemon that wanted to beat us up. We made it down many floors before we had to stop because supplies were running low and we were getting worn down. Other than that, I'm glad to be breathing regular air again. But ummm..."
Rei sighs as she has to bring up more 'unpleasant' things.
"So I know you said you wanted to make sure we didn't outright kill each other. I've left a note for Tiki that I'm meeting her outside the eastern gate of Saffron. You know, the exit facing the swamp? Right as the sun comes up. So if you want to make sure it doesn't get too out of hand, meet us there."
She quickly tries to change subjects again to not linger on it.
"Have you been up to much while I was away? Oh-! Right. We stopped in Cerulean along the way and I had a nice chat with the Mayor while we were there. I told her I'd bug you to go visit her soon. I mean... I know why you haven't left anytime recently. I suppose Tiki and I are at fault there. But maybe after the fight you should go. Instead of worrying about us constantly."

Clay holds out his hands, offering to carry some of the books. He may not be able to read them, but at least he can help carry them so they're not stacked way up. His face falls slightly when Rei starts going into details of the duel, but he takes a deep breath and nods firmly. "Yeah, I'll be there."
He flushes sheepishly when Rei mentions the Kalani. "Yeah, I just... didn't wanna abandon you guys with everything going on. Going to visit Kalani is kind of an all-day thing and she'd probably want me to stay overnight if I didn't have something important to do in the morning. Tiki's gotten a little better the past couple of days but I didn't want her to feel like she was being left all alone." He chuckles quietly. "We had a big fight a couple of days ago. I made her mad on purpose 'cause I was tired of her being depressed and not caring about stuff, and she completely kicked my tail. Seems to have cheered her up a little bit, at least once we talked the next day and she knew I wasn't mad."
He lets out a long, low sigh, lowering his voice again as he rubs the back of his neck. "She got the dream, too. I dunno about what, I'm guessing it was you or maybe Holly, knowing what happened with our dreams. She says she doesn't care about the dream stuff, that was kinda what we argued about - I'm hoping if she stays we can get her back on board, at least."

"But you have to watch out for your own self too, Clay. Don't let yourself get swallowed up down with us."
Hearing that Tiki's feeling better after beating Clay seems optimistic... in a strange way. At least she's not trying to go crazy again.
"Well that's good, even if I bet it didn't feel good for you. And yeah, I feel like she probably would have since you and I both got one. I can see why she says 'she doesn't care'. I mean... she does, but it's the last thing on her mind right now probably."
Rei looks down to the books.
"But not mine, which is what all of these are for. Win or lose, I have some reading to do."
Rei looks off and sighs.
"Frankly, deep down, I don't care if I win. I just want Tiki to be better. The line about 'being dead in a gutter' in Celedon worried me more than anything. If she beats me and it fixes her... then so be it."

Clay shifts the books to one hand so he can wave off her warning about being swallowed up with the other. "You're my friends, I'm not gonna abandon you. This whole mess... there's no way it can be healthy. And I warned her I wasn't gonna leave her alone even if she left - I gotta get a rematch some day, you know."
He shrugs his shoulders. "Oh, uh, speaking of Tiki beating the snot outta me - watch out for that one really high note she hits. Took out Peng pretty much all at once, though I guess getting hit from the other side by her Octillery didn't help."
He frowns as Rei keeps talking. This isn't great. Sure, planning what to do if Tiki does win and leave isn't a terrible idea, but he doesn't want her getting all depressed. He reaches out and squeezes her shoulder. "C'mon, we'll work it out. You're not gonna win anything if you go in acting like you're gonna lose."

"It's not abandoning us, Clay. And you are OUR friend too, and we care about you."
Rei winces when her sonic attacks are brought up.
"I've been hit by that attack when our pokemon were stolen and she was upset."
Rei is surprised when Clay grabs her shoulder and stops. She reaches up and squeezes his hand.
"...I know. I just... I just know my history with these sort of things. And... I also know how much I care about Tiki. My wish for her to be happy and healthy trumps my own feelings of wanting her around. If her staying is unhealthy, then it's selfish to keep her around."
Rei keeps moving.
"Though I don't oppose you going to find her from time to time."

"Planning for the worst is okay. Just don't go setting yourself up for a fall." Quietly, he adds, "And don't feel like you have to stay away from her forever if she wins, either, huh?"
He sighs when they reach Rei's room. "Anyway, early day tomorrow, huh? Where do you want all these books?"
Once they're put away, he'll wish Rei goodnight. And say again, "Don't act like it's a sure thing, huh? You're a lot tougher than me, you're probably gonna do a lot better than I did."

"I feel like I have to respect her decision if she wins. For her health...
Rei just points out a table in her room to set the books down and sets her own next to them. As Clay reiterates himself, Rei's expression darkens a little.
"I'm not setting myself up. I'm going to do my best to keep her here. Goodnight, Clay."
Once he walks out she sighs and leans against a wall.
But my best probably isn't enough...
Rei gets things ready for the morning and heads to bed.

Tiki hasn't moved from her spot in the corner. The anxiety she has kept her up throughout the entire night. As rays of light hit her face, she hides her face in her legs, and curls up tighter. She feels like she's about vomit just like before the Ashley fight. She is sweating, and shaking like a leaf. It almost is too much, and feels the need to run away. Run far, far away from everything. Miraculously, she is able to shove all of these feelings down into her gut, she slowly gets to her feet, grabs her pokes, and very slowly shuffles to their meeting place for the fight.

After asking Kopi to wake her early thanks to his insomnia and sometimes creepy inability to sleep at night, Rei goes to bed early. She guesses that Kopi probably at least understands the gravity of the situation, and actually wakes her up at the correct time. He probably just didn't want something thrown at him from an annoyed Rei. She sits up in the bed groggily.
She's in two minds.
Part of her is still furious that Tiki has put her in this position. While the other is horrified about the outcome.
But she has to resolve to do this. No matter the outcome. Rei had already chosen her team the night before. She gets up and gets ready and heads out before the sun is up to wait for Tiki.

As Tiki arrives, she finds a VERY different Rei. She's sitting there leaning against a tree, one hand on a broadsword stuck into the ground. The first very noticible thing is Rei almost looks alien not wearing a kimono. Instead, Rei is wrapped in a lot of athletic tape, with just a simple tank top and shorts held tight against the body so nothing is swinging around. As she hears Tiki approach, Rei's eyes flick open, and the same look Rei gave Tiki when she was issued the challenge in the first place is across her face. (Although if Tiki's looking, Rei also has a hint of sadness to her)
Rei stands, and picks her sword out of the dirt. She looks around to find no Clay. He'll be around. If this battle will go 'too far' it won't be in the beginning. So he's at least got some time.
Rei exhales before lifting her sword, ready to fight.
(Moving to group battles!)
