Teddy's normally stern expression splits into a wide grin. "Ah, Moon!" He reaches over and pats the bear that flashes light inside. "No more tears, we found work!" He ruffles the fur on the bear's head, who responds by squinting up and setting the book down so he has a free hand to pat it back in place. It ends up standing on its tippy toes to shove the book onto a counter, and the pair set off inside to look around. Teddy peers around looking for a light source--something to turn on, light up, the usual. Maybe he'll head outside, get some supplies, start a soup or something simmering to warm the castle stones up and provide lunch when...whatever is happening with the Merchant stops.
"I wonder what would happen if the book were destroyed?" He muses to Moon, who is sniffing around in the cupboards.

Stan makes his way through the long corridor out of the castle, spying the still-open doors out to camp. (Continue in other thread)
This kitchen, as with the other explored rooms, seems surprisingly modern. Two gas-stoves and two sinks lie along the north wall here, while three chrome tables, probably for food preparation, are in front. All of these fixtures, dust notwithstanding, are surprisingly spotless, and the drawers under the prep tables are devoid of utensils or otherwise. The three pantries in the back, with glass fronts, are unfortunately empty.
As with the foyer, there are white light panels on the wall, but they don't seem to work in here, nor do the stoves power on when their various switches are flipped. The water, however, seems to work fine when Teddy tries the faucets.

Teddy makes a note to himself to seek out some light sources. Maybe some of those nice sticky ones, the ones you put on a wall and just tap! At least until he can figure out why some of these strange locations have electricity and light, and others don't. Maybe he should seek out a good electric type just to use as a generator...and a fire type, for light and cooking. He pulls a scrap of paper and takes notes on the things he needs, adding cleaning supplies to the bottom.
"Do you think we can just hire people from outside to clean?" Teddy asks Moon, raising an eyebrow at the small bear. "Dusty..."
He looks around and notes the doors, two on one side, and a third close to him. He approaches the door to the west and attempts to open it. "Moon, light here." He calls the small bear with its flashlight. The book remains on the counter for now.
[If this door is locked, he'll try the other two until one isn't, unless they're /all/ locked]

Fortunately, the west door is unlocked. Shining the light inside, Teddy finds what appears to be cleaning supplies. A bucket, a mop, various sealed metal bottles (about 13 of them, all unlabeled), some rags, and some powdery substance in a small cloth bag. This almost seems like a janitor's closet.

Teddy lets out a laugh. "We have our supplies. Now to find a kid willing to do the work!" He laughs, ruffling Moon's fur. He considers opening the bottles to smell them, but decides finally that it wouldn't be the best idea. Maybe he can get that kid, Stan, to write a report of their contents for him...he seems like the sort.
Teddy moves to the next door, north most on the opposite wall, and tries it.

The next door Teddy tries opens as well. To his (possible) surprise, there is actually FOOD in this one! Two barrels, one in each of the rooms back corners, hold between them about 8 loaves of long, stale bread, each loaf about three feet long. There's a shelf to his immediate left, upon which rests eight little paper sacks with string attached; tea bags, presumably, with colored tags to track flavors. There are also three metal boxes, unlabeled, on the shelf immediately below the tea bags. If Teddy were to pick them up, they would be somewhat heavy, indicating they may hide food as well, but there is no lid or otherwise to access their contents.

Teddy makes an interested noise, sniffing at the breads and teas. How...how old /was/ this place, that it had barely stale bread? He sniffs again at the bread--still good for stuffing, maybe, or croutons...? He'll rummage at the small boxes, shaking them consideringly and listening to anything within, before shrugging and setting them back. He makes a mental note of their presence. "We'll come back to this," He says with a smile to Moon. He admires the room in general, making plans to move some basic supplies in here if he can get the power in the kitchen working, before trying the third door.

The third door thankfully opens like the rest; this final room has small open compartments along most of the walls, apparently sized for dishes, glasses, and utensils. Sadly it seems that most of them are gone, but scraping along the little storage spaces, Teddy finds a single plain glass, and a somewhat less-plain knife, with a handle of brass and a worn blade of iron. It seems like an ancient steak knife.
Teddy thinks he hears rustling in the kitchen as he is in the closet. (Perception)

"...dirty." Teddy frowns down at the knife. He sighs and slips it into a sturdy pocket anyway. Maybe he can clean it up? He glances at Moon by his side, considering, but leaves the jar where it is. The small bear has enough to hold.
He starts to leave, back through the kitchen, and pauses. Had he just heard something? Had the merchant finally broken from his painting fix?
E6ySs_aU2d6 Perception 5d6 Moon's Perception, if relevant
He moves back through the rooms, a mental note in mind about some supplies that he'll need. Stan's absence is noted, as its Merchant's continued painting. Perhaps if the man finishes his picture, he'll stop? He shakes his head, moving on. Time to find some boys to clean for him.
He pauses in the foyer though, glancing at the three statues. He assumed the others had looked at them...Still, he pauses for a moment and stares at them, probably feeling them over to see how solid they are. Castles like this, they always had secrets in books. If he moved an arm or poked an eye, would there be a button to play with?

Despite what he heard, Teddy doesn't seem to spot anything around him. Must have been his mind. Moon immediately suspects the tables with a low growl.
Seconds after their observing, the far sink in the room suddenly switches on.

Stan makes his way to Merchant's painting station, sealing the musical score neatly in an accordion binder. He cautiously slips it into Merchant's robes, wherever they'll stick, and waits for a response.

Teddy narrows his eyes. Had he imagined--the sink turns on, and he squints into the shadowed room. "Moon." He says, and turns his head as he realizes the small bear has started growling. "Moon! Is it dangerous?" He asks, keeping his back to the wall. He takes a breath, watching carefully--and prepares to give into his instincts.

As he slips the score in Merchant's robe, the book scribbles up a response.
Teddy's survival instincts don't flare up that much, not as much as they would if he were, say, facing down a charging Rhyhorn. Moon's growling also seems to be somewhat defensive, but he seems more curious than scared. He feels more like something is just... around, that there's no ill intent to sense.
Teddy hears more rustling coming from the general direction of the running sink, like wood rattling.

Stan's expectations have already been met tenfold; he hasn't died horrifically yet!
Regardless, everything was in Merchant's hands now. All the office monkey could do now was continue to search the castle for clues. Perhaps a closer look at some of the mulled-over rooms? He didn't exactly get a good look over the frigid living room; perhaps there were further clues there!
...well, the door was right next to Merchant's perch. Might as well take another go at searching it.

Aside from the bear rug, which gives Stan a mini heart-attack as he spots it EMERGING FROM THE FIREPLACE LIKE A DEMON FROM THE DISTORTION WORLD shortly before realizing it's inanimate, he doesn't spot anything different than Teddy did during his initial survey here. The big painting gives him weird non-temperature chills, but it doesn't completely captivate him.

Teddy frowns, letting Moon handle himself for now. He approaches the sink, staring at it curiously. He reaches to turn it off, moving slowly. "Hallo?" He asks the empty air. He raises an eyebrow curiously. There are pokemon types who can do stuff like this, aren't there? One of the girls he left in charge of his restaurant had a...a..what was it called. Frost something. Looks a bit like a woman, a ghost type that had been /amazing/ in the summer at keeping the air conditioning bills down!

Right then; get rid of the rug. Rug needs to be going where it won't haunt anyone again.
Stan made a move to roll up the rug again, then took it to the chair where he would sit down. All this running around not getting mutilated by traps was exhausting, and that recliner looked rather comfortable. He'd take a few moments to rest up, attempting to identify where the landscape painting might be depicting (Gen Ed: 7BaiJDlg1-61-61-6 ). If it seemed like his investigation over the room's weirdness was going nowhere, however, he'd move to check the book one final time, then begin heading back outside to get the rug disposed of. 1-6·1-6·1-6

Teddy turns off the sink.
Something immediately flips the switch to turn it back on. Teddy swears he can hear a very faint laughing. (Perception)
The big painting doesn't ring any big bells; it just seems reminiscent of those big tall mountains, like Sinnoh's own Mt. Coronet, Mt. Chimney in Hoenn, and Mt. Silver between Kanto and Johto. The lone cabin depicted in the painting is what really catches his eye; who would live on a big blizzard mountain?
The book has some new information for Stan:

A present? Oh, Merchant would want to hear about this right away!
"Hey, Merchant! Got some more information for you! It seems as though there's pokemon that visit the village just to see this Ju Mei girl. One of them has come in recently bearing a present for you and Hiraku; a Ponyta. Have you seen anything like that?"
Well then, that's taken care of. Now to dispose of the super-scary bear rug...
...
...yeah, actually, lets leave this for someone else to take care of. This thing's downright frightening! Stan would leave the decoration back in the fireplace where he found it (head turned AWAY from the door) and would go deeper into the castle to check on Teddy's progress. With any luck he might be making more progress on freeing the trapped merchant than he was.

Teddy squints and reaches to turn it off again, holding the knob in the off position as he looks around the room suspiciously. "Hello?" He asks as he looks around. "I am Teddy. I will not hurt you. Come say hello?"
