Location: Fire Lizard Landing Site
The area surrounding where the Fire Lizard touched down on Murder's surface was unsurprisingly desolate; an uninhabited desert-like wasteland as far as the eye could see, and one unexplored, unending red sands. Temperance was the first to step out onto the surface, her little self stuck into a space suit. She landed cleanly, but even she produced a thud, leaving the slightly heavy gravity no stranger. Turning to face you guys, she beckoned all of you out, along with five or so other crew members who were also in suits. Each of you had a suit to wear sized for you. They were colored like the uniforms, and bore EEC insignias. Temperance was the first to speak.
"Meow, listen up. We each have a small radio communicator in these suits. It has enough battery to last us a three Eos nights, so if you lose contact with someone, assume the worst. We'll be splitting into teams. I want complete ground coverage as far as we can get. The atmosphere here is thin, but poisonous, and we have confirmed it as being a Low Toxicity Environment, which I'll refer to from now on as an LTE. We have marked the surface as having a Gravity Rating of 4, hereby to be referred to as GR4, so it is slightly heavier than it is on Eos. Your suits have one hour of oxygen. I want the new recruits to come with me. The other five will form their own group. Commander Tairenar will be watching from the ship, and keeping tabs on things. Aside from unknown hostiles, any questions?"
Temperance was to the point and no-nonsense as usual. Perhaps the risks meant she wasn't willing to snark as much?
Mechanics: Low Toxicity Environment (LTE)
-- Survive without Oxygen for a number of hours equal to Weight Class.
-- Subsequent hours impose on injury per hour.
-- Every second hour, a cumulative -1 penalty applies to Athletics, Acrobatics, and accuracy rolls.
-- A single Antidote can remove a single injury gained in this way.
Mechanics: Gravity Rating 4 (GR4)
-- For each step the Gravity Rating differs from your Home Gravity value, you receive -2 to Athletics and Acrobatics rolls.
-- For each step the Gravity Rating is higher than your Home Gravity value, apply the following changes...
---- Decrease your Evasion by 1.
---- Decrease all Movement speeds by 1, to a minimum of 1.
---- Decrease your High Jump and Low Jump values by 50%.
---- Decrease your effective Power capability by 1.
---- If the Gravity Rating is higher by at least 2 steps, you may not use Levitate or Sky speeds.

Eric was finally in his element. Ground operations. This was where he excelled and what he had been ultimately trained for in the EEC.
He listened attentively as Commander Temperance made her spiel. Mentally Eric went through everything the Commander was telling them.
'So we have small radio communicators in the suits? I suppose that means the datajack based communications network that Wolfgang, Tomoe and I have won’t be needed,' he thought.
'Gravity Rating of 4, huh,' he then thought. 'It’s not so bad. I guess I’m lucky that on our first mission the environment isn’t as inhospitable as it could have been. Sure, the air is slightly toxic and a little more oxygen in our tanks wouldn’t have hurt, but I can make do with this.'
As Commander Temperance came to a close with her speech, he took a moment to cast his gaze about, taking in the desolate wasteland. It wasn’t pretty to look at, Eric decided, and the high dunes of sand could hide hostiles, but at the same time his line of sight wasn’t impaired by any fauna or some such as it could have been in a different environment.
Eric shifted a little with nervous energy. He wanted to get going already and explore the area. Figuring that being over-excited wouldn’t help on a mission, he tried to calm himself as he waited for Commander Temperance’s orders to move out. In an attempt to distract himself, he made sure that his posture was perfect as he stood still with the other new recruits of his group. It didn't help much, but Eric's patience wasn't so bad that he couldn't wait a little longer.
Eric somewhat regretted not checking out the firing ranges on the ship earlier. Maybe he could have worked off some of his nervous energy that way and he could be more focused now.
As Eric was trying to stay focused, Wolfgang was having similar troubles. He was still a little disappointed that he couldn’t upload himself into the Fire Lizard’s systems. To make matters worse, his space suit was a little tight fitting. Still though, he paid compliments to the suits manufacturer. Other than the somewhat tight fit, it was perfect. Perhaps the EEC had experience creating space suits for quadrupedal beings?
As he pondered the question, he attempted to sniff at the air, before remembering that his helmet was in the way. It was strange for the little canine, not being able to take in the smells of the environment. It didn’t matter, he told himself. Most likely all he would smell would be sand anyway.
Where Wolfgang looked a little uncomfortable, Tomoe was completely unflappable and focused on the Commander. She took in every word and committed them to memory. The little humanoid otter made a strange sight in her miniature space suit, but she wore it well.

The first thing Rob noticed when he got off the ship was his spacesuit. It felt incredibly awkward and sluggish on him, weighing the man down with his every step. The suit fit fine, and Rob was use to lugging around heavy equipment, it was just the fact that the weight was all around him. The worst part of the suit was the gloves, as they lessened Rob’s feel of his trigger, which was really messing him up. He felt like at any moment his finger would slip away from the trigger, which could prove to be fatal in a mad situation. The gravity wasn’t helping this feeling, either, but he decided to power through his discomfort and give his full attention to Temperance, keeping up the best form he could in his sluggish gear.
He certainly was excited, if a bit nervous, about the new mission. Rob had yet to see any real action in his time spent serving, so this first mission was a big one for him. He was hoping that all his training would finally pay off into something, although “unknown hostiles” factor was making him a bit nervous. He didn’t show any of this nervousness or excitement, naturally, still professional and stoic as ever.
His two companions, on the other hand, won’t holding up as well.
Kenny also felt bogged down by the suit, unable to move at his full speed. He also had a killer itch on the back of his head from the moment he put the suit on, and, without access to scratch it, he had opted to give the itch his full attention in an attempt to suppress it. His plan wasn’t going so well.
Rosa, on the other hand, felt very awkward without her hairs to stick onto things.She was forced to walk on the ground, which wasn't helping her stress. Rob had to calm her down when she first put on the suit, and both he and Kenny would constantly check on her. She had calmed down a bit by the time they were on the planet’s surface, but she was still a bit on edge.
Giving both his companions a sharp glare to get them to stand at attention (which seemed to work, despite the space suits and all), Rob addressed the commander over the radio. “No questions from the three of us, Commander Temperance. We are ready to begin the mission on your command”.

Quinn tugged at the sleeves to her suit, frowning. Learning about questionable planets first-hand was interesting and all, but one hour worth of oxygen? She found herself extremely unsettled at that information, and spent more time checking her suit than being her usual charismatic and curious self. It was heavy, and that wasn't pleasant. And to think she might suffocate in it, or die some terrible toxic death, was just... she shuddered violently as the Commander asked if everything was clear.
"No questions here either, Commander," she replied quickly. Okay, it was a bit of a lie, but she was eager to just get the scouting done and get back to safety long before the oxygen levels depleted to frightening levels. She was a people person, not an exploring-the-lethal-ecosystems person, and really hoped she could rely on her partners to make up for her inexperience in the field.
Kingsley looks mortified that he had to wear an outfit that prevented him from biting. He waddled about like a life-given pillow, his little blue head wearing a nervous expression unlike anything Quinn'd seen on him thus far. Fia didn't seem overly bothered--as was the norm--and stood silently and relaxed at her mistress' side, glancing around with subdued interest. She was already a slow and heavy pokemon, Quinn reasoned, and not needing to move about if it came to battle was perfectly fine for the young Numel.
If it came to battle. And she very much hoped it wouldn't.
Quinn stopped herself from shaking (although it would have been hard for anyone else to tell, given the suits) and awaited the next instructions.
