Also I'm done with the edits.

Greenwolfkate That's very interesting and definitely a new medium of doing so. I have not think the whole musical techonology level thing thorough for Varius(just don't think it would come up in the campaign) and I am probably Pathetic in Music Tech Edu., but I think your character will have to also come up with tools that connect the gloves with the stage equipments herself for the gloves to function. And yes on the idea itself. Good good! To be honest in real life I'm probably also a Pathetic in Music and the Tech that goes with it. But I just got so interested by the musician's idea and how cool it is, I had to try and make a character inspired from that! Now onto working on putting backstory into actual words from my brain. EDIT: I've gotten some of her backstory down now and added it to the sheet.

Whoops, sorry. I guess profanity begins to slip out when dealing with my little brother. Also, you're right, the concept loses its punch hard if he's going to a college after all - the whole point is that he's basically decided that if he can't enter a college, he'll make his own d(wait no)arn way. If that's not permitted, I suppose I'll have to come up with something new. Let me think for a bit.

And done!...ish Ran into a slight problem in that I initially wrote up a super sick Poison Ace/Trickster >_> So here we are, first draft of the second character. Missing a few things, because I have a couple questions~ Does this character actually make sense? Are there extreme enough environments in Varius to give this guy something to do? How scary are the Pokémon, specifically, miles into the wilderness? In other words, how screwed is a level 8 starter on their way into the wilds? I don't want to move too fast and end up getting myself and my starter killed, but I do like the idea of kicking things off by working my way into the wilds. EDIT: Forget the other two, boyz n gurlz, I think I'm good on those fronts after all. As far as development is concerned, I've tried to leave as many thematically-appropriate options open to myself as I could. Intuition and Survival cover Water, Ground, Rock, Grass, and Ice Ace between them, allowing for very strong synergy with a single type of weather should I run into many 'mons that fit one archetype. From a more general perspective, I've left Paleontolgy as an option open too, with an eye to possibly putting an Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire style spin on things. Pokémon from an age when primal monstrosities warped the world with weather-related abilities? Right up my alley. Plus Fossil Pokémon like Carracosta and Kabutops have great synergy with Climatology allowing me to keep up Rain and Sand for them to abuse simultaneously etc. Lastly, I was considering making this guy a Travel/Technique Archive Chronicler for a while, the fluff being a nutjob with a handheld video camera racing around after natural disasters. I decided it didn't fit the theme of the campaign as much as anything else, and Survivalist and Climatology do the same stuff but better for most of the game, so I dropped it. But it's still gonna be there at the back of my mind as a route I might go down much later on. Rough goal for the very start of the campaign is find a fun-looking bit of wilderness, make a beeline for "Dangerously far from civilization", and stay there until I have a 'mon I like or I run out of supplies, at which point I'll come back to train, restock etc.

Honestly the fact that I'be been reading over my fluff and my fluff and Nether's look almost as good makes me feel a bit better about my chances, aha. On one hand I chose to play a stereotypical Ash or Hareta-type, but on the other I'm usually the first to criticize myself. Seeing that there's not so many Terrakions compared to previously cheers me up a bit too. Hopefully one of us both gets in.

Applications for the Application pile! Here is Benjamin Tollhouse!A Berserker/Trickster and a professor's son, Ben mixes brains and brawn in a bid to prove that Terrakion is just as good, if not a better college than Cobalion! I'm looking forward to questions on this one. Those are always fun! Edoot: Forgot to spend my points. 3 - Fine Weapon Pack 2 - 40% Coupon 2 - Starter Kit. 1 - 500 Pokeyen

Haha nobody wants to be on the winning side, it seems. Though looking through the characters, I think the only one that would make sense switching to Cobalion is Nether's, with the flimsy justification of proving them wrong by working his way up through their ranks without their system.
Guess people just like to innovate, which is understandable.

Style wise, Ben ironically works better with Cobalion College. It's only that his dad's influence that keeps him with Terrakion.

As I've stated, Aiden McLain would go to Cobalion College, but he's so focused on only doing what he wants to do, personally, that he ended up going to Terrakion instead.

Robot, what's the gig with your guy being a symbol of Cobalion and a Type Ace? Is he actively pushing against the System, is it to hide his identity further etc? Not trying to be rude, I'm genuinely curious. Oh, and before I forget, I'm resubmitting my character as I've applied to a different game as a Survivalist/Type Ace and I don't really want this guy to end up going down the same route. So I've swapped out the Intuition Edges for Apricorn Balls and Stealth, plus made a few other small changes. Presenting Richard Basir, Version 2.0!

Well, the Cobalion system isn't completely cut and dried by-the-numbers, there's room for personalization. That and Type Ace doesn't necessarily mean you have to use Pokémon of that type, especially Electric Ace which pretty much only affects Electric MOVES rather than Pokémon. Electric is an excellent coverage move on a lot of Pokémon, with very little actually resisting it, those that do being types that usually are pretty easy to exploit with other moves.
Thunderbolt + Ice Beam is a classic combo for a reason, being able to hit literally every single mono-type for at least neutral damage. On top of that, Paralysis is a great status condition that cripples several Pokémon and majorly hinders most others, reqardless of typing.
Not that I speak for Robot, I'm just giving my thoughts on the matter.

I mean, I totally get that there's space for personalisation within the system, it's just that I feel if he were a "mascot" of sorts he'd be a lot more by-the-numbers about things.
The point about Electric Ace affecting moves more so than 'mons is a good one though, and makes sense to me. I am of course still interested in Robot's answer, since he built it, but that's a good point and I am satisfied.

Part of the character's goal is to pick at Cobalion system. See how flexible it is, where it's weaknesses lie. Electric Ace may as well be 'paralysis ace' for how it's first feature works, which is a bit more fluid then most aces. I also really wanted to play a type ace, but wanted a solid type that isn't viewed as inherently weak, such as bug. So I went with one of the most solid all-rounders for offense and defense. Many things can get electric type coverage, and it uses Focus as a skill, which I have always considered Focus, Command, Perception, and Intuition to be the core 'battler' skills. Everything about the character was thematic, from his dump skills to his edge choices, like instruction. In a solo sandbox game I will never get use of it, but I took it anyway because it fit.
More to the point, this isn't one of my usual power plays. Goliathus has expressed interest in using this as a test and improvement of his beta world, so I made a character who is an explorer and adventurer first. I put a good chunk of time into making a living and breathing character that will go forward without being disruptive to the power gradient of the game, while still fitting into G's world.
