Slight correction, now that I look at it closer. Michael's MOTHER is also a champ, not both of his grandparents.
I'll rewrite that to be more clear, while I flesh those two out a little, mostly just a name and title to give some airs.

You say Intelligence from 1.04 is under the allowed materials. Do you mean you'll be using it GM wise or do you mean something else? It's a bit confusing to me, and I'd like clarification, if possible!

Just making sure I'm understanding the first post but, Independent and Foreigner are a class of Trainer however for creation purposes we're limited to the 4 Schools?

For everyone who have an application or plan to apply, please list out how you spend your 8 points of starting package either on the post or in your sheet. Alright, question time: DarnellJermaine 1. I am interested in Greg's family background and how he ended up in the street. Is his family on the unlawful side of the world? Or perhaps he is forced into this life because of poverty? Or it was some "bad friends" who pull him into the dark side? Or any other reason, really. 2. What's his greatest criminal achieve -- oh wait, that sounds like I think crime is good. What's the most heinous crime he has committed as a biker gang leader? 3. You mind coming up with the gang's name? 4. Any trigger or incident in the past that made him want to become a Pokemon Trainer all of a sudden? It's a risky career and not many people start late without a valid reason and Greg picked this over the plethora of careers out there. That and not many get accepted because of the tests, but of course Greg is talented enough to do so. Or perhaps Greg is using his underworld connection to buy him a slot into the college? Every business has its dark side and I am not shying away on that if you prefer that story. 5. Any particular reason of picking Terrakion over others? 6. I really don't mind him being more than 200lbs if you want and I personally think he should be more than that to be one hulking beast of a man. A random search of some 6'4" athletes in physical sports like American football all yield result higher than 200lbs. The game has flying human so having crazy muscle mass isn't that out of line. 7. What's his family's view on him being a criminal since his youth? Is he still close to his family? 8. Just so we are clear, you will not be starting with a bike. You can have a broken bike that you can repair later on or just get a new one when you have the money or just get a ridable Pokemon. This is to make sure everyone starts on foot and has identical traveling speed at the beginning of the game. oddeyes 1. Any particular reason of sticking with Keldeo, the college with the highest ratio of aspiring coordinators, when she doesn't like them? 2. Pardon me if I have missed it but what's her favorite class? 3. Do her parents support her dream? 4. Does she has an idol or more? Or someone she dreams to become as a celebrity one day? Feel free to make up any character. 5. Any reason why she chooses to involve Pokemon in her life/career? She can easily just go to an art school, which arguably gives her an easier access to the entertainment industry than a Pokemon Academy, if that's her life goal. 6. Between acting, singing and dancing(or both singing and dancing at once as a pop star), what would you say is Gwen's first choice? Most celebrity starts with one before branching out to other stuffs. shadowblaze94 1. Mind sharing a little(or more if you want) about her family or childhood? 2. It would be cool if you can be elaborate on how she stumble upon martial art and fall in love with it. 3. Just to be clear on your goal, you don't really have to beat the Elite Four in this game, which is explained in the "Elite Four & 'World Cup'" section. But if you are confused by that, do tell me here and I can elaborate. 4. I see that you have Paleotologist, mind sharing with me me about how Nina comes to learn about fossil and such? Judging by your character build with backpacker and high Survival, I would assume Nina has spend plenty of time in the wild when she is younger? Or maybe have a family background in careers involving wildlife exploration and/or science? GM_3826 1. You mind switching some of the pathetic skills to non-education skills? I am sure this is not your intention and you do have your fluff for it but putting pathetic on all educations is an "easy way out" because your character will only have one weakness(on skills that are not used often and with low consequences on failing) instead of three if you have put them on other skills. 2. It's easier for me if you put all your level up points, including those of level 1 to the "Level-Up" column rather than doing them on the base stats. 3. How's Aiden's relationship with other students? I can see that not everyone hates him but I don't see him being very popular either being a very opinionated person. 4. I assume his interest in Pokemon has been there since he was a kid? Lockon 1. Out of curiosity, what's his father's occupation and life about? Is he involve in the whole Pokemon Battling business in some fashion? With a father and a wife like that, I sort of imagine his father has been part of the business, not necessarily a trainer but a comittee member of the PBCA or something. Or maybe he gives no Rattata's ass about the Pokemon sport at all. Feel free give me more details. 2. Are any of his many cousins a Pokemon Trainer/Coordinator? 3. Has any of his military ancestors achieve great things of valor on the battlefield? They don't have to btw, I am just asking. 4. As an Assedo native, what's Michael's view on foreigners? Is he xenophobic(or borderline racist) like the older generations of Assedo or is he more open? Nether 1. How close are his parents or Oleander himself with Team XXX or any other mob group and whatever crime organization you can think of? Are they completely out of the underground scene? 2. How is he with cute Pokemon? Does he still find them cute but unlikely to be part of his team or he has establish some form of dislike on those Pokemon? 3. Are there students, perhaps the minority, who are afraid of getting close to him because of his family background? Reputation can be a beyotch. 4. Would it be cool to you if his favorite class is Ecology(or some other biology-based subject, Zoology and what have you), in which you study how Poison Pokemon live in the wild? Or maybe Medicine class(or even Wilderness Survival), in which poison is part of the subject? The subject names are more general so "Poisonous & Venomous Pokemon" would likely be a chapter in "Pokemon Typing or Ecology and whatever" than a class name. 5. I like your goals. 6. Any fluff on pathetic tech ed.? I would assume Team XXX would use a lot of eletronic device for all sort of criminal activities, especially since the region has scanners and such, and the criminals have to be tech-proficient to be effective. 7. Has he been poisoned before, be it voluntary(what can I say? Some poison freaks be crazy) or accidental? twilightkiwi Sorry about that, I have moved the notice to the top of the post. And I will be sure to tag you if I do change that rule. For the Psychic Elementalist question, they are all Psychic Elementalists as a whole. Or just Psychic, in short. It's just that their power are so distinctively unique that the classification has separated them under different names so they can be referred as the same name as in the book, so Telekinetic, Telepath, Warper are all official name for people who possess such power. Warr It's for reference purpose and helps RP to a certain extend. Some of the dumber species will act like...dumber species in battle. For instance, a group of wild Growlithes will try to swarm the Croconaw you put in front of them ineffectively instead of trying to get around it to attack you while a group of wild Kadabras will employ more efficient strategies like hit'n'run against melee Pokemon or teleport to find better angles and so on. Of course, you are a trainer so whatever Pokemon under your command will fight as smart as you are. This also supports the canon theory that Pokemon fights better under a trainer. There will also be Pokemon that are dumber and smarter than their species. For example, I can give you an Intelligence 1 Machop that fits the bill of a stereotypical "The Muscle" trope, who can't understand much of anything complex and resorts to using sheer strength to solve any problem he finds. Mechanically, there are some homebrew rules I am working on to counter the issue in trainer combat battle, in which swarming and taking down the trainer is the fastest and simplest way to victory. The trainer has to be on the field against 7 opponents - 1 opponent trainer and 6 Pokemons - and unless your trainers have 4 tanky battle classes in the book, he is bound to go down. One of the rules is that a high Intelligence, high Command Pokemon(there will be Poke Edge to increase a Pokemon's intelligence) can serve as second-in-command(or pseudo-trainer, if you will) that take the role of the trainer in decreased efficiency when the PC goes down. nadodan Yes, you are correct. Independent is closed for this campaign but could be open in future campaign set in Varius, if I ever get to do more. Foreigner is more of a fluff entry. Basically, you will be meeting trainers from the Four Schools, Independents and Foreigners in tournaments. Independent trainers are usually more exotic, like a tribe member who worships Zapdos and has his own philosophy and regime when it comes to Pokemon training; but can also be trainers who are homeschooled because their parents believe they can do better or because they come from a small town somewhere rural and cannot afford the tuition fee, but has the raw talent to compete against the best(so they are more underdog than Terrakion in general). Foreigners are people like Ash Ketchum without the "soft reset", who have started their career somewhere else and are looking to test their skills on another region. Your character can be from other regions, he just has to be a student in the Four Schools and starts his career in Varius. Or he can restarts his career if you want, as long as he graduates from the Four Schools.

Hiya I'm glad to get a response and I'll answer 1 at a time 1. I figured Greg would have found himself in the grips of poverty with a family that was simply apathetic to him- working too many jobs and not caring enough for their child to be around, which led him to find his own path and wind up in the clutches of the gang. 2. I think the most cold blooded thing he did would be having nearly beaten a man to death- something to the tune of a large gang war broke out and after his friend was killed he beat the man within an inch of his life- barely leaving him alive. Besides that, probably small time robberies and charging people 'Protection Money' 3. I like the name Road Hogs- but really anything works for me, it can even be pokemon themed like the Grumpig Garrison or somethin. 4. I did actually think about this for a bit and was brainstorming ideas- my biggest being one day he found himself alone surrounded by gang members- when a strong trainer swooped in and used his pokemon to protect Greg at no benefit to himself- after nearly dying, Greg realized how unfulfilling his life had been and was awed at the bravery and power the trainer wielded- inspiring him to drop gang life and take up the role of a trainer just like his savior. 5. I had three reasons in mind- for starters, he would have lived in the large, hustle and bustle of the city- so to get away from that and all his old contacts, he'd move near the area that was more historical and had older people with not much of that around. Also- thematically, Terrakion is sort of the college that's always seen as the least favorable- just like how people would take Greg's appearance and previous lifestyle and deemed him the scum of society- lastly, the idea that every pokemon can be used to their potential is a theology I believe Greg would take strongly too. 6. I'd be glad to up his weight- I'll look up a more proper weight for that height, I was sorta guessing xD 7. I feel like his family wasn't an important role in his life- they didn't hate him or abuse him- they merely didn't care, and after a while he just left home to live with his gang, to which his parents never even tried to find him. 8. I didn't expect that, I figured it would be too overpowered- plus thematically, since he wants to get away from all his old connections that might be seeking him out- whether because they want him to rejoin the gang or because they feel a hatred for his sudden absence- he'd stay away from anything that might give them a clue where he is. I was thinking maybe way later in the game if you were willing he could arrange to contact an old mechanic friend or something to obtain a motorbike- but only if/when you deem it to be appropriate. Thanks for asking me these questions and hopefully I gave good answers if there's anything else you need or would like to ask please feel free- I'm really hyped to hopefully get in this game as my first PbP campaign Point Spread: 1 Point $500, 2 Points Starter Package (3 Basic Balls, 3 Potions, 4 Enriched Water) , 5 Points Deluxe Survival Package (Sleeping Bag, XL Tent, Lighter, Flashlight, Water Filter, 25ft of Utility Rope)

1. How close are his parents or Oleander himself with Team XXX or any other mob group and whatever crime organization you can think of? Are they completely out of the underground scene? The way I imagine it, his family essentially went deep hiding after leaving the organization - so new names, new location and possibly faked deaths or horrible accidents. But that assumes Team XXX goes with an 'You never leave the family' philosophy. It has, however, the benefit of keeping them out of play unless we explicitly want to bring them in. Which ties in with... 3. Are there students, perhaps the minority, who are afraid of getting close to him because of his family background? Reputation can be a beyotch. ..this question. Keeping his identity hidden (he does know it himself - at least enough for 'try to not show off the tricks we taught you in front of the guys who dress funny') means that there's really not many chances for others to dislike him for it (plenty enough chances to dislike him for the persona he puts on for those who don't get it or don't play along, though).. but it also means that if it -does- come up with someone it'll hit harder and feel more like a betrayal. In short, I'm tentatively putting this down as 'not yet'. 2. How is he with cute Pokemon? Does he still find them cute but unlikely to be part of his team or he has establish some form of dislike on those Pokemon? He sees the appeal, but basically doesn't care for it. You know, like those kids who go "Yeah, puppies are cute, but I wish mom let me keep a snake!"? Exactly like that, except his mom let him keep a snake. I'm going with biology, it's the only one that reasonably fits into a non-untrained skill (Pokémon Edu) 7. Has he been poisoned before, be it voluntary(what can I say? Some poison freaks be crazy) or accidental? Realistically, it happens often enough that he considers it a normal daily hazard. Like normal people consider papercuts. It all started when he got lost while looking for Venusaurs as a young kid and hungrily devoured delicious-looking berries and it continued when he heard of a shiny Muk living in a nearby garbage dump, got lost and ended up face-first into pool of way-too-glowy-to-be-healthy liquid. The last episode was him getting sure he fixed his sense of direction problem, and proudly declaring "If I get lost again, I'm going to lick a Koffing". So, yeah. It happens and it happens often, but very rarely from actual pokémon attacks - they tend to like him. 6. Any fluff on pathetic tech ed.? I would assume Team XXX would use a lot of eletronic device for all sort of criminal activities, especially since the region has scanners and such, and the criminals have to be tech-proficient to be effective. I'll admit it started as a shameless 'Well, I really have no idea what to dump now' pick, but then I got to thinking. Maybe his parents weren't field operatives - specifically, his father a breeder and his mother one of those who research rare and legendary pokémon to come up with all the crazy schemes of "We really should use Kyogre to dump half the world under the ocean!", so they did most of their work respectively straight-up with pokémon or buried eyebrows-deep in ancient tomes. Their approach to tech - exactly because it was so prominent in all the other Team XXX activities - was a bit of 'Well, there's someone else who can take care of this for sure', and they passed that on.

1. A fairly successful businessman in the major industry of Assedo, although that was far from his original ambition. Being the son of a legendary trainer, he initially tried to follow in his father's footsteps, attending Terrakion. Alas, while his technical knowledge was excellent and his passion there, he lacked that certain gift necessary for stardom. After an extremely lackluster career, never achieving more than a D-Rank, he retired to no fanfare. While the family has been supportive, especially his then girlfriend now wife Rebecca, he's never quite recovered from the experience. There's no overt denouncing or anything like that, but... his experience tainted the sport for him. While he does his best to not let it affect his son, especially after Michael displayed a natural talent that he sorely lacked, there is a certain awkwardness between them. 2. Are any of his many cousins a Pokemon Trainer/Coordinator? Several, many of them also being Terrakion Alumni, with a smattering of Virizion and Keldeo... and there's the one Coballion. While he's still part of the family, there is many unspoken rules about what is taboo conversation at family gatherings and holidays. 3. Has any of his military ancestors achieve great things of valor on the battlefield? They don't have to btw, I am just asking. Well, the surname is derived from one of his ancestor's knightly titles, so, yes, there have been a few war heroes in the family line. While there's not always a Swordsworth in the military, when duty calls they've never failed to answer. 4. As an Assedo native, what's Michael's view on foreigners? Is he xenophobic(or borderline racist) like the older generations of Assedo or is he more open? He is definitely a "merit over origin" kind of guy, although he does have some awkwardness around some of the more exotic types. More of a "I don't know how to talk to you" rather than any actual racism. As for his grandfather Horatio... he was a classic Varius face back in his day, and some of his stage persona has seeped into his personal attitudes. He doesn't hate all foreigners, he in fact has many close and dear friends from outside Varius, usually earned on the battlefield, but he has a bad habit of painting with too broad of brushes and too dark of colors. Starting Package: Survival Package, Pokéball package and 1000 spending cash. Most likely first course of action will be heading out into the wilderness to find some more team members, with company preferred.

1. Any particular reason of sticking with Keldeo, the college with the highest ratio of aspiring coordinators, when she doesn't like them?
1.) I would say that the school's dedication to the arts, and the integration of the arts into pokemon battles definitely appeals to Gwen's ideals. I feel that she would stay despite all the coordinators is that she could prove to herself, and the world that Keldeo can produce stars who just aren't coordinators. I also kinda glanced over that she was a failed coordinator, probably failing in her freshman year, so, she buckled down on her acting/singing/dancing. Her failure, and the success of other coordinators, led to some of her dislike, but not enough to dissuade her from attending Keldeo. 2. Pardon me if I have missed it but what's her favorite class? 2.) Her favorite class is Theater Arts. 3. Do her parents support her dream? 3.) Gwen used to be rather quite, so it came as a suprise for her parents, but they do support her dreams and passions. 4. Does she has an idol or more? Or someone she dreams to become as a celebrity one day? Feel free to make up any character. 4.) She looks up to/envies Lisia and Wallace Despite them being coordinators, Gwen adores their ability to capture the hearts of people along with their beautiful pokemon. 5. Any reason why she chooses to involve Pokemon in her life/career? She can easily just go to an art school, which arguably gives her an easier access to the entertainment industry than a Pokemon Academy, if that's her life goal.
5.) Gwen loves pokemon. Including them in her dreams, and performing onstage with them is a great source of happiness. Also she ADORES doing theater. You don't do theater cuz it's an easy job, you do it cuz you love it. 6. Between acting, singing and dancing(or both singing and dancing at once as a pop star), what would you say is Gwen's first choice? Most celebrity starts with one before branching out to other stuffs.
6.) It would probably be acting. The singing and dancing mostly pertains to musical theater, but moving into pop star, or even idol work, could be a cool way to go also.

How's Aiden's relationship with other students? I can see that not everyone hates him but I don't see him being very popular either being a very opinionated person. 4. I assume his interest in Pokemon has been there since he was a kid? 1. No, I don't. I was thinking about maybe taking away his Pathetic in Technology Education and putting it in Charm. This will be just dandy. 2. OK? I do not really think that's how that's supposed to be done, but sure. 3. Some people are inclined towards debate. Others aren't. He's a polarizing figure more than he is unpopular. 4. Yes, he's loved Pokemon since he was a kid. Although, as you pointed out, it's less Bulbasaur on the side of the road then Magikarp jumping over a 100 foot waterfall. The power and potential of Pokemon is what Aiden loves, specifically. The point spread I used was thus: 1P #500 2P Starter Package 5P Deluxe Survival Package Edit: Ultimately decided that Aiden's weaknesses should be in Medicine Education, Technology Education, and Guile. This experience has taught me that I should probably come up with the Skill Background after the fluff.

Hello! I would like to throw my application into this. Link! At the moment there aren't much in it, but unless any distraction pops up I am planning on writing down most of the backstory tonight. But here is a quick summary; Aila is a Virizion Academy graduate that focuses on the interactions between Pokémon and various items to win. And I suppose I should add a bit about myself in the progress! I'm an twenty-something engineering student currently looking to finish up my courses and graduate. RPing has been something I have long been interested in, but sadly when I started attending university scheduling face-to-face sessions became a bit bothersome and I migrated to Play-by-Post. I mostly play Pathfinder overt at the Paizo site but recently realized there was something as awesome as a pokémon rpg and started lingering around here too. At the moment I'm also playing in Shouri's game as the forest-spirit Nette. Cheers : )

Posting interest, but I had a question.
How are Channelers/Oracles seen in this setting? Are they as feared by the public as Elementalists? Are they seen as weird, but harmless? Or are they just better able to hide it, unlike Elementalists?

This should be done, I think? docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nyCHq6YerEUYEli8JjVt_nxXPkMxuDDjLNziW29JmRg/edit#gid=0I spent the following point package: 3 Points: Crafting Kit to get a Portable Grower. 2 Points: To get the basic survival package of a sleeping bag and tent. 2 Points: To get 1000$ and use 500P to then buy a Pokeball Crafting Kit, as I couldn't afford it and the grower otherwise, leaving me with 500P. I think I may still need to figure out derived stats, but that's it.

With the way levelups work, only one of those Adept skills would be legal, as you can't use the Level 2 bonus Edge to rank up from Novice to Adept. Also, you erased a lot of the formulas that would auto-fill the sheet to assist you, so you've made yourself more work, either now in filling out an alternate copy, or later when you have to do all the calculations manually.

That's only true for one of them, if I understand correctly, as the 'researcher' class could have been taken at level 2 or after that, and allowed me to rank up the 2 stats to adept that I ranked up with it. The only one that it doesn't work with, is the one that I gained level 2 bonus edge, as far as I know, so I could still keep most of them, no? I just need to drop one of the non-class bonus based ones.

Precisely, I should of specified I was referring to the natural Edges. My apologies. I appreciate the help, regardless. Have any idea where I broke the coding? As if I could just fix it that'd be easier than flipping it all over to the other app, especially if I have no idea if the other app will end up broken in the process, too.

Well, you added your level up stats directly to your base stats, rather than putting them in the Level Up column, and I'm still trying to figure out how the hell your at Level 3 yet have 0 experience without having the formula written over or have 6 level up features for that matter. Not counting your bonuses, although there seems to be 2 too many. I'm not an expert in the system or the sheet's programming so I might be making some mistakes on your mistakes or whatever you did right. EDIT: sandsofazorin, this is why I should get off my lazy butt and get an avatar, as I'm not goliathus, who's running this thing. I'm just offering basic rule corrections to Warr because I'm a nut who likes to help people with game rules.

Lockon, did you forget my question regarding those with Mystic Senses? Goliathus is the GM for this setting, not Lockon.

Posting interest, but I had a question. How are Channelers/Oracles seen in this setting? Are they as feared by the public as Elementalists? Are they seen as weird, but harmless? Or are they just better able to hide it, unlike Elementalists? If discovered, they would get the same treatment as Elementalists especially as science has found no way to lock their power yet unlike Elementalists. One big difference that set them apart from Elementalists is that their mystic power are innate and with them since the time they are born. There are near zero records of sudden awakening. Whether they are discovered or not highly rely on their parents. Some parents, not wanting to see their children be treated like monsters, will try to conceal the truth of their children's power from the public and maybe even teach their children how to "be normal". For the parents who are are looking for a big paycheck of their children's special power, scared of the heavy punishment as established by the government or even their own children, will just tell the government about this. If so, they are on the same track alongside their Elementalist friends, maybe with someone sticking with them or be tracked by GPS 24/7 because no bracelet is going to lock their power out. While they are not a threat by themselves like the Elementalists, the government are well-awared of what trouble they can cause if left unchecked. For Channeler, the risk is that they has the potential to rally a whole forest of Pokemon to crash a city if they want to. Oracle is even more dangerous, they can just crash the stock market and the whole economy in days if they want to, or plot out impossible-to-fail heists with their "metagame" sight into the future and so on. They are, of course, valuable asset if working with the police force(solving a crime is easy with an Oracle's help) and such, so it is really up to how they use the power. Their power are easier to hide than Elementalists though, many have gone hidden under the radar for their whole life. For Channeler, as long as they don't go crazy and control wild Pokemon like they own them, no one will know they have so much more power than they show. Oracle is even a tougher case, because self-proclaimed Oracle are everywhere; everyone in the fortune telling industry say they are Oracles, but who really is? And a true Oracle can always fake a prediction if he wants to, trying to collect proof on them are usually a waste of time. They are a gold mine for conspiracy theorists though. Rogue elementalists do exist, many of them are high-profile criminals.
