Clubba continues to stare at Emolga, infatuated with its cuteness. Musharna disengages from Absol, floating back a bit before giving the most adorable little howl. A thin bolt of lightning lances from its snout, striking Absol square in the chest- Thunder Wave! Lightning wraps itself around Aku like chains, causing him to snarl in frustration. Initiative -Absol 22 -Emolga 19 -Jamie 13 -Chroma 13 -Helen 10 -Shako 10 -Clubba 5 -Musharna 1 OOC Clubba is still infatuated. Aku is now paralyzed. Shako OOC There, in the entrance of the ruins! There's a man leaning against one of the pillars, watching- how long he's been there, you can't say. You can't make out many details, though; he's hidden in the deep shadow, and his clothes are dark. From what you can see, he's wearing black jeans, black combat boots, and an open black trench coat. Apparently, he likes the color black.

Clubba is waving his club up in the air, trying to get the attention of the lovely Emolga when it uses shock wave. All of a sudden, the lighting that looked like it would have hit Aku instead turns and strikes Clubba's bone club. Clubba's lightning rod activates, redirecting the shockwave to him. Negating all damage, and increasing his SpATK by one stage.

Pondering the battlefield, Helen concludes that the circumstances call for Thumper's Ice Punch. "Yikes! Thanks for the assist Clubba! Thumper, get out here to back Aku up! We can't let that flying rat get another attack off on him! Aku, whatever you are going to do, do it quick!" Thumper is sent out at H8! With Agility Training but no agility orders its Init is at 21. Thumper will get command next round. Aku receives agility orders. It is still at Init 22 if it chooses to act without command next round.

Aku snarls once and charges Emolga, using a rapid Feint Attack and knocking Emolga out cold. Even with its limbs stiffly splayed in unconsciousness, Emolga is still unbearably cute. Aku looks at Emolga's prone form for a moment before giving a single satisfied nod. As the dust settles, you hear someone clapping slowly- almost in an insolent manner. A deep voice, one almost like a distant rumble of thunder, speaks, carrying clearly across towards you: "Oh, well done. Well done, indeed." OOC Congratulations, you just won a fight with the odds 3-to-1 in your favor. For such courage in the face of such overwhelming danger, you each get 61xp to distribute among your Pokemon as you see fit. Additionally, each trainer also gains 1xp. Shako OOC The voice and clapping are clearly coming from the man in black you observed earlier.

Helen completely misses the sinister context of the words, and takes the opprotunity to boast a bit without even bothering to try and look for the speaker. "I know. I know. It was actually fairly academic. Safeguard plus anti electric abilities apparently equals a bad day for Team Tempest."
Helen struts over to her victorious Absol, and rubs its head. "Especially if you happen to be packing a hard hitting badass like Aku here. I mean damn, you dropped most of them yourself... Three out of four! That has to be at least 60%!" The trainer coos, perhaps accidentally revealing her lack of basic math skills.
She then notices some of the injuries and damage on her Pokemon, and frowns. "Looks like that winged rat and her bully trainer kicked you around a bit though. I think you've earned a rest in your Pokeball for now. Thumper, you got my back if any more show up, right?"

As Helen recalls Aku, the mysterious man chuckles. "'Bully,' is it? I don't recall her picking the fight. No, dear Helen, if there is a bully here, that bully is you. You insisted on a three-to-one fight with Sasha, much like what Natalie did with you not too long ago; you knew how difficult it would be for her, and yet you didn't care. Some could argue that such an act makes you far worse than any bully you met, for you personally endured the pain that you just inflicted." The mystery man moves forward a bit, and, while his face is still more or less shrouded in the shadows of the ruins, you all can see his black clothing- black boots, black pants, the open black trench coat- Wait. Did he just call Helen by name? And did he just casually recite a portion of her history prior to arriving in Holon?

Helen falls silent as the bluster on her face is replaced with a humiliated blush. Not only was she shocked that the stranger knew so much about her, but his words also hit close to home. The young trainer's mind begins to churn, as she both attempts to both rationalize her behavior and figure out how this man knew that particular chapter of her life story. This train of thought leads Helen to psychic powers, and other occult happenings. bvvE713v4d6 Occult Education - Brainstorming explanations for the stranger's insight 4d6

The man chuckles quietly at Helen's reaction before stepping fully into the light, walking towards you. You've heard the phrase "man among men" before, but never has it been so perfect a fit until now. Standing at least six and a half feet tall (about two meters), he is clad in all black- black boots, black pants, and a black compression shirt under a (surprise) black trench coat that hangs open. His hands are clad in black, studded, fingerless gloves. The right shoulder of his trench coat is adorned with the Team Tempest logo- obviously, since he's a part of the Team and not in a standard uniform, he's extremely high-ranking in the organization. As he comes closer, you're able to see his face in detail- a face like nothing you've ever seen outside of celebrity photos. Though he's at least in his fifties, he's certainly aged well, as he still retains the handsomeness of his youth. A stylishly unshaven face and short-cut salt-and-pepper hair round out his features. Were he an actor, he would be one of the most popular, either as an anti-hero or a handsome villain; were he a teacher, he'd command the absolute attention of the boys and the affections of the girls. As he stops not far from you, you can make out his eyes- a strange shade of red you've never seen before, an odd color that unsettles you in a way you can't describe, but that also lends him an exotic look. Helen's breath catches for a moment as she beholds him. Smiling a beatific smile, he looks at the boys. "Oh, don't be too confident, Jamie, Shako," he says. "I know all about you two as well." With a flick of a finger, red, translucent holographic screens appear around him. Selecting one with but a touch, he brings it to the front expands it to about four feet a side with gestures simulating what you would do with a touch screen. On this hologram, you see pictures of each of your smiling faces, with lines of text below, unreadable at this distance (about 10 or 15 feet.) "Don't get too cocky. I know all of your dirty secrets as well. In fact, I'd say I know more about all three of you than you three know about yourselves- or each other." OOC If you want an idea of what the screens are like, watch the (relatively) old TV show Motorcity. Watch the video here to see what I'm going for. Helen Your first thought is oracular powers, but the information divination powers provide is usually broad and general- not this specific. Anything beyond that would indicate oracular abilities of near-godlike proportions. It is as this thought crosses your mind that your breath catches, and your heart flutters as you see him up close. Any other girl would've assumed that they were just reacting to his good looks (and he is quite good looking, despite the decades he has on you.) You, however, were able to detect a tightness in your chest as an unseen force compressed your lungs slightly, forcing the gasp and the fluttering heartbeat. You feel your hair stand up slightly as you realize that he telekinetically squeezed the air from your lungs.

Jamie doesn't quite know what to make of this man. He is obviously a Tempest member and therefore a criminal, no matter his rank in the organization. But there is something about him that spoke of... purpose. He doesn't seem like someone in it for money or power, because Jamie is sure he could get those in other ways than becoming a criminal. Now that Jamie thinks about it, he got the same feeling from... Sasha. She didn't seem like your average goon, especially when compared to her sleeping teammates. Still, for the man to call Helen a bully is a little audacious, none of this would have happened if the Tempests weren't restricting access to the ruins. And how did he know all these things about her anyway? That required further thought. For now though, Jamie wanted to defend his friend's actions.
Jamie narrows his eyes at the tall man. "I assume you're Darius? What right do you have to call Helen a bully when you drove Trainers away from the ruins just yesterday? You Tempests seem to believe you're better than other people and that this belief gives you the right to do what you want. So what if you have an operation going on? You could have appealed to the league, not in your Tempest personas of course, and have created an official expedition. Then you would have a legitimate reason to keep other people out and no one would have argued. Doing this via force and intimidation is bullying plain and simple. It's undoubtedly illegal too. I have no doubt that whatever information you have on us was acquired illegally too. Don't brag to us about your criminal activities."

Jamie's rant is enough to snap Helen back to reality, and she nudges her friend with a weak elbow to get his attention. She speaks at normal volume, for if she was speaking the truth trying to hide her words would be a fruitless endeavor. "Not illegal, Psychic. The man is telekinetic... I'll bet he is a telepath as well."
She then turns back to Darius. "Digging in a teenage girl's mind for information to hurt her with? That isn't just bullying, you know, its just plain creepy."
Despite her words, there is clear fear on Helen's face. Anybody with the level of psychic control required to manipulate her innards was likely way out of her league.

"Don't worry, Helen. I'm a telekinetic, not a telepath," Darius chuckles. "And I'm not worried overmuch about what your thieving friend thinks of me. Oh yes," he says, looking at Jamie. "I can tell by your accent that you're not from Holon. No doubt you hope to secure some Holon Pokemon for yourself to take home- possibly to the career criminals you laughably refer to as your family. Unfortunately for you, Holon Pokemon lose their unique powers when they're removed from Holon. They cannot go further than the Dragon Frontier before their powers fade and they become indistinguishable from others of their species. And you're mistaken in our motives to keep people out. These ruins are dangerous, and larger groups attract more danger for all concerned, no matter their motives for exploring. I cannot protect everyone in the ruins- I could barely protect the team I brought in with me. The only recourse was to keep the others out while we explored, but the danger was still too great, hence why we cut our expedition short." Behind him, emerging from the ruins are haggard-looking scientists limping out, with their research equipment tucked under their arms or hastily packed in metal crates. With them are about a dozen black-clad Team Tempest members, wielding long batons that spark and sputter with electricity, their uniforms stained with dirt and torn in several places. The forlorn looking group slowly makes its way to the helicopter parked over yonder. Darius watches them. "Of course, today's youth don't listen to their elders," he sighs. "They listen to nothing except brute force. I took no pleasure in destroying them, but it was something that needed to be done, and likely saved them from a bad end inside the ruins."

This... this... what. Just what. He calls me a thief? A criminal is actually calling me a thief? Jamie doesn't usually get angry easily, but this man is pushing all the wrong (or right) buttons. Jamie's eyes seem to gain a cold shine different from their normal warm hue and his voice is glacial as he speaks. "You, of all people, call me a thief? I called the police to investigate my own parents. I can't imagine you called the police on those goons who try to steal that farmer's, Atticus' Mareep. Just so you know, not that it's any of your business, I have no desire to return to my parents, or to Kanto at all." Jamie shakes his head derisively "It's becoming very clear that you don't actually know as much as you think you do. I caught Holon Pokemon for mostly the same reasons that I caught my other Pokemon; because I love Pokemon and love learning about them, teaching them and training them in addition to the fact that Professor Laurel wants to study Holon Pokemon. I suppose a criminal like you wouldn't understand those values though. Jamie frowns, not because of Darius, but because in his anger and eagerness to prove the man wrong, he mentioned Professor Laurel. I'm sorry Professor. I hope these criminals don't give you any trouble.
He raises an eyebrow at the reasoning for stopping people from going to the ruins. That seems almost noble. No doubt I'm missing something. "Did you explain that to all of them? Because we sure didn't get that explanation until now."

"Ah, yes. Laurel." He pulls up another screen, this one with Laurel's picture on it. "Swept the Holon League at the tender age of ten. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hoenn's most prestigious university at the age of fifteen. Returned to Holon at twenty to accept a position as the region's official Professor." He closes his eyes for a moment, speaking almost to himself "No doubt, her motives are pure. She seeks knowledge, a pursuit I can respect. But how long will it be before her research leads robbers like you to Holon? How long before an army descends upon this land to plunder its power?" He looks back at Jamie. "I always explain myself- upon request too, believe it or not. But not everyone is willing to listen, such as the trainers yesterday. Thus, like spoiled children, they needed to be reprimanded." His mouth twists into a smile as he says this. "Children these days. They think they know everything."

Helen scowls, "If I thought I knew everything I wouldn't be out here searching for knowledge. It's backwards hicks like you, who worship and protect the sanctity of the land above all else, who seek to stop civilized people like me from learning."
She turns, and gestures for her friends and Pokemon to follow. "Lets go. The only lesson these people seek to teach is 'leave us alone', so there is no point hanging around and debating them. They seem to be leaving as well, so we can heal up at the center and come back later."

As Helen begins to walk away, Darius dismisses his screens with a flick of his wrist, his smile vanishing. He holds out one hand in a claw-like gesture, as though he was doing a Darth Vader style Force Choke. The frightening thing is, it works. An invisible, intangible force constricts Helen's throat and lifts her a good three feet in the air- while her breathing is labored, it's not hindered, though it does sound like she's choking. The boys see that Darius's eyes glow- literally glow- like twin crimson lanterns. "You know," he says, his voice dropping to the lower end of your range of hearing, "the last group said almost the exact same thing. Let me tell you a truth you may not know: the first inhabitants of this land, the Nuyans, possessed power beyond anything us humans could imagine- the secrets of which are locked within these ruins. It's not power humanity can understand, or wield. But do you believe that is going to stop others from trying? No. Hadrian, a Kanto native like yourself and the boss of Team Tempest, plans to harness it for his own ends, and he won't let his lack of knowledge stop him- he'll initiate the destruction of Holon, if only he could wield a hint of that tantalizing power. Call me what you will, child, but never accuse me of having base or selfish motives. Do I make myself clear?" His voice contains a menace none of you have ever heard from a human being before. Coupled with his unnatural eyes and seemingly godlike psychic powers, you wonder if Darius is, in fact, human. OOC Helen was hit by the move Telekinesis. Jamie Nevermind that Darius is teaching Helen to fly; did he just insinuate that a civil war is brewing in the Team Tempest ranks? Helen As you writhe in the air, helpless in Darius's telekinetic grip, your mind flashes back to all the times you were bullied. Never have you felt this helpless before- even when being subjected to the worst beatings. All the fear you felt at the hands of your bullies, all the taunts, all the jibes, everything they did that made you feel small and helpless and unworthy to live is suddenly put into proper perspective. Darius just set a new gold standard for angst. Shako You feel seriously out of your league. You've heard only stories from your grandmother about the devastating power psychics wield, and Darius is only seeming to validate them.

Shako just quietly watches everything transpire between Jamie, Helen and Darius. He hadn't really said anything about him all that much except for his name. Shako knew this guy was being straight forward and throwing no punches in the vocal department.
He didn't expect what would happen next though. With Helen suspended in the air, and Darius' eyes glowing that bright color; Shako knew he was way to much for anyone to handle. Without thinking about himself, Shako steps in between Darius and Helen's levitating body. Raising his hand as to imply to stop; Please sir, don't hurt her. We wont bother you, or get in your way any longer. Putting his hands down, and lowering his head. Not really wanting to look Darius directly into his eerily glowing eyes. Please accept an apology on behalf of my friends. We acted without thought, or regards for anyone's well being, including our own. He then looks back up at Darius. We just wanted to see the ruins we were told about. If it wasn't for you stopping us, we would have probably got injured in there like you said.
