Merit pulls out 10 En from his bag and sets it on the bar counter, waving as he walks away. "Thank you for the refreshments!" He looks at Nette as he returns Aria to her Pokeball. "Let's get going before it gets too late, Nette. I have a feeling that the desert is really mean when night falls."

"Mhm. And the other might miss us!" Nette adds with a vigorous nod. She was a bit sad they didn't have a chance to visit the sandile again, but then again, there would be other days! "Let's head home!"

"Thank you and please come again," she shouts out as she waves you on. "It's a straightforward path, you should pass the 'Oasis shortcut' sign on your way there! Good luck out there!"
Now that the sun has nearly fully set, the northern path is a bit more difficult to see but it's manageable. The path cuts left almost immediately and you can see the tunnel like entrance into a dune that leads back to the entrance. It's clear that this path is man-made from the various wooden beams and sheets that line the walls to prevent the sand above from falling in and closing this path.
It appears that a few people have taken the liberty to draw rather nice paintings on these walls. A few of the better ones among these are signed " - S." below the paintings. Despite being painted on wooden sheets, you could swear the painting was done on top quality canvas by how wonderful they look.

"Look!" Nette points to the paintings and leans in to take a close look with a huge grin on her face. "Someone drew these pretty things! But why is there a tiny Ekans on these?"

Merit looks at the especially beautiful art. "So these particular paintings were made by someone called S." He continues down the tunnel path, expecting Nette to follow shortly. "I wonder if this S character always paints in such strange places? Could you imagine finding their art deep in the forest?" As he says this, he makes a note on the map about the tunnel art. Maybe this S character does other work?

"Maybe 'S' is inspired by the free drinks then? Or the Cacti..." Nette chuckled and lingered a quick moment to soak up the art before following Merit. "We usually don't have much art in the Forest. Although we do make some pretty leaf-arrangements in the autumn!"

"Leaf-arrangements?" For a few moments, Merit thinks as he gently massages Matchi in his arms. "Sounds pretty interesting." A few moments later, his face makes a ponderous expression. "I wonder where exactly near the enterance this tunnel leads out? I didn't see any tunnels when we first entered."

"Yepp. When they start changing colour you can get all wondrous shades of red and yellow to work with!" Nette happily skips along the path. "Also, they said something about a rope-ladder. So I think we will be going down a cliff or something like that. Hmm... I wonder if we can leave it down to get there quicker? Maybe that won't be needed if they get their Pole working again ..."

As the two of you continue down the tunnel, the freshness of the night has started to kick in and it has begun to get a bit too chilled. The contrast to the desert heat of earlier is a bit jarring. You see a few more paintings along the way including a few pictures of some legendary pokemon. The last cave painting shows a trainer commanding a Zapdos to attack a large group of soldiers.
As you reach the cave's exit, you realize it has dropped you off near the top of a sand hill and you spy a rope ladder somewhat haphazardly rolled up at your feet. From this point of view, you can also see a piece of wood sticking out of the ground at the base of the sand hill within reach of the path.

"Huh." Nette carefully approaches and unrolls the rope-ladder. "You think that piece of wood would let us get this ladder from bellow?"[/font]

"So the sand pile at the beginning was the exit," Merit murmurs to himself. "I think so," he answers. "Although, I don't think we will be entering from this particular entrance much, with the Geomagnetic Pole registered to our guild."
Merit helps Nette with unrolling the rope-ladder, and once it is situated, he climbs down the hill. "We're almost out, Nette," he says as he heads down to the desert entrance. "I don't want to stay out here much longer." He gestures to the moon above and shivers. "It's getting rather cold."

"Okay! Let's hurry then." Nette climbs down after Merit and takes a quick look-around before following him out of the desert. "Mm. You think the others found anything nice?"

With your trek through the desert finally at an end, you make note of the new shortcut leading into the oasis. The desert area is still not fully explored, but today's adventure definitely left you weary since you are still new adventurers. Perhaps the next time you visit, the geo pole will finally be fixed!
The trip back to town takes another hour after sun down, but you eventually make it back to the guild where a series of delightful shenanigans have just occured.
