As therapy for her earlier encounter with Phantumps Nette had her new friend out the entire journey from the city to the desert. She had planned to also hug the adorable thing but quickly found out that her idea clashed with Phantumps Ghost Typing - her hands simply passed right trough! Anyway it helps - cauz' he is adorable!
But that couldn't be her focus now! She was on a mission to explore, so she had to keep her eyes open! And she did, for a really short while. Then went back to petting her Phantump and occasionally switching him for Mawile and petting her instead. They are both adorable ... But eventually she started to notice all the sand ...
"Oh, we are close. I think?" the tree spirit exclaimed and looked around.

The desert showed little sympathy for any adventurer; that, after all, was the job of the oasis. Thus the blaring heat of the sun seemed to push heavily on the shoulders of any adventurers walking through it. The only solace one could hope for, outside of the oasis, would be the shade provided by a few large rocks scattered about. Despite being a desert, there is a very clear entrance provided by the path. Various wooden signs note the harsh conditions reading "Beware of heat strokes" "Temperatures may vary wildly... from hot to inferno." and other such signs. Above all of them however, lies a sign reading "Welcome to the dancing dunes! Come find us in the Shimmying Oasis for a nice drink!"
This last sign seems surprisingly well kept.

Merit Sol is looking down at his map, carefully noting their position and orientation while Aria the Murkrow sits on his shoulder. The newly acquired Murkrow is staring at the path ahead, her red eyes glinting in what seems to be anticipation. So engrossed was Merit, that when Nette exclaimed her question, the battle medic nearly jumped, causing Aria to give a low, creaking caw that echoed ominously into the desert expanse.
"We are more than close," Merit says with a smile, then peers at the signs while shielding his eyes from the sun. "We're right at the start of the Dancing Dunes, and from what I can tell, the Shimmying Oasis is farther in." He pauses to wipe the sweat from his brow. "I think we should try to find the oasis first. That way we can go back there when the desert gets too much for us."

"A nice drink does sound really nice!" Nette nodded. The sunlight felt nice on her leaves, but the heat would probably bit outside her comfort zone. I don't have any cacti in my line I think, would have been handy now! With both of her pokemon out for a moment Nette contemplated which to have out with her. Mawile was more experienced but the small pokemon would no doubt find walking over scorching dunes to be a chore. So Phantump it was! Returning Mawile to her ball Nette stepped forth and eagerly started wandering down the path. "I am ready. Let's find that oasis!"

The signs at the entrance rattle as a small stiflingly hot breeze blows. This desert shows clear road marks and one can see various dunes all throughout. The first road goes south for a moment before heading east to an east south split.

Following right behind Nette, Merit continues to map with his head down and out of the sun's rays. Shortly after their eastward turn, Aria suddenly caws, and Merit lifts his head, seeing the east and southern split. "A split. Which path should we take?" He peers down both paths, trying to see what lies beyond from his position.

"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm." Nette tilts her head to the side and carefully studies the two choices. They wanted to visit the oasis first, but where would that be? Maybe she could use her knowledge of nature to make an educated guess ... (Survival roll 15). Finally she decides and points to one of them and nods. "That one!"

Nette's survival instincts pay off as she notices that one of the paths has a slope of sand that would prove highly difficult to cross and possibly dangerous had she not noticed it. Thus the eastern path appears to be your only option for now. Not far forward though you spot a winding path heading a bit north to the desert border with a sign reading "dead end ahead". On the other hand, the eastern path ahead of you appears to go on for quite a while.

"Should we go for that one first?" Nette asks and points towards the dead end sign. "So we don't have to backtrack and map it later!"

Merit smiles at Nette once he looks up from his mapping. "That sounds like a great idea!" After a couple scritch sratches on the map, he starts to walk the winding northern path, Aria carefully watching their surroundings as they walk. "This has been a lot less stressful with two rather than four; the exploration, that is." He chuckled. "Then again, Falon certainly kept our team moving along fast." He paused, his expression decidedly thoughtful as he wiped some errant ink off his hands. "How was it? Your first mission, that is."

"It has been." Nette nodded in agreement. She wandered a few steps in silence, thinking. "But it wasn't that bad with four either, actually." With a cautious look around she made sure the only phantump in the vicinity was her own before continuing. "Only stressful thing was being ambushed really! And ooooh! We found a really stinky room. That wasn't fun - but otherwise it was really nice!" She concludes with a vigorous nod, then walks in silence for a few footsteps again. "How do you think it is going for the others?"

After a moment, Merit grinned. "I'm not sure how things are, but I'd bet my first aid kit that Falon's running blindly ahead of his team." He becomes silent for a brief moment while he double-checks his map work before continuing. "Olivier seems like the friendly type, so I think he'll do well in town. I doubt Helios will have any problems gathering resources alone, based on his skills. Henry is level-headed, plus he's an excellent shot. I hope Nithia doesn't trip and fall, but she can handle herself, especially if what Helios claimed about her this morning is true." The medic gave a wry smile. "His burns aren't going to completely disappear for a while, even with my balm. As for Bee Burton...." He shrugs. "I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet. If she fights as well as she can map, then she'll be just fine."
Merit stops talking to pull out his personal canteen. After taking a small gulp, he lets Aria take a quick sip. "Did you bring any water? You can have a sip if you want." He holds it out to the forest spirit.

At the end of the small road you come across a shining search point (Mining). If you wish to take it, you may roll your search roll (1d20).

Reaching the dead end, Merit searches the shining spot (10), all the while holding out his canteen to Nette. Aria eyes the spot with a gleam in her eye.

"Oh, Bee was a good shot! So then they are all probably okay." Nette nods in agreement with herself and takes the canteen, taking a few careful sips. She had some water of her own, but it was impolite to refuse a gift! It's sorta a gift right? Then she looked over Merit's shoulders to see what he found in the shiny spot.

As merit's hand reaches for the vita infested end of the road, it begins to swirl and within Merit's hand lie a Corundum and a Granite ore. The rest of the dead end shows little of interest.

"Yey stuff!" Nette cries out in a somewhat accurate mimicry of Sariah and giggles. She hands back the canteen to Merit once he had time to put away their loot and heads back down the path. "Let's explore that other route and find the Oasis!"

"Yeah," Merit nodded, "let's explore the east path." Storing his canteen and the ores away, he makes his way back to and down the eastrn path.

The eastern path quickly leads to a small split as it leads you around a grouping of cacti. From your point of view you can see that the path reconnects on the other side continuing east, but you also spot two other paths going north and south.
(Perception rolls from all involved please DC 10)
