RP sample below.
Lisa went over her list for the third time in her head. Pokeball? Check. Electronic blood test and stylets? Check. Pills that she really didn't need? Check? Sunscreen covering every inch of exposed skin?
Check, but Lisa added a bit more just to be safe.
The boat shook slightly as the crew dropped the ramp onto the dock, and a tinny bellow from the ship's speaker let her know it was time to take the first steps of her big adventure. She stood from her seat on the hard mattress of her cabin bed and began the considerably difficult process of getting her overstuffed knapsack onto her back.
Midway through hauling the bag up onto the mattress for leverage, Lisa was interrupted by a knock and the creak of an open door. "Honey, are you coming?" said her mom softly.
"Yes, mom, I'm ready, I'm reaaaaa-aack!" Lisa's protestations were interrupted by the boat lurching at the port, sending the overbalanced girl staggering to the side.
"Lisa!" her mom cried, concerned. She rushed to steady her daughter, but Lisa batted her hand away.
"Mom!" she shouted harshly. Then, softer: "Mom."
Lisa closed her eyes, focused her overtaxed body, and through sheer willpower forced herself to stand upright. The backpack, filled with clothes and textbooks and pokeballs and her very first chemistry kit, dug its straps into her shoulders. Once she was absolutely, positively sure she was steady, she cracked her eyelids again. Determined blue eyes met concerned ones.
"I'm grown. I'm healthy. I'm going on a pokemon journey. Please mom, I love you and dad so much and I love everything you've done for me. But I need to do this myself."
Lisa's mom hesitated, but only for a moment. She smiled, blinking away the traces of tears. "Well then, dear, hurry up. See you on the dock!"
Lisa's mom turned and stepped away. If Lisa knew her mother at all, she was probably biting her lower lip and using all her willpower to avoid turning right back.
Once her mom was out of sight, Lisa took one last breath and stepped, squinting, into the Orange Island sun.
All on her own.
Check, but Lisa added a bit more just to be safe.
