Alright! Let's provide some feedback on the apps to date! You can find your feedback in the spoiler below your name! Raven with Valisilwen Build: No real comment here, looks fine. Physical Description: In the picture she has a gun. You do not have a gun. Personality: Kind-of a dark personality...and being so manipulative I could see that easily causing inter-party strife, for good or ill. I would like to know how she "learned that early on", but that really segues into... Background: How/why did Vali learn these skills? Why did she need them? You tell me that she did, but don't tell me why. Also, you did not provide a reason why she wants to travel from Black City (or any city) to the Orange Isles. Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Why does she want to build a "survival" team? To what end? Wanting to take down the "best trainers" is a nice dream, but is that really "survival"? Rooting out corruption is another good goal, but I don't see the connection with it being a matter of survival. That's fairly minor though. RP Blurb: Those first two questions were not an RP prompt, sorry if that was unclear, and while these questions are optional, it really strikes at a critical point for me. Being secretive between the players is fine, but being secretive toward the GM really only hurts the play experience. If I don't know details about your character's history, such as key background NPC's (trainers, love interests, powerful people she pissed off, and so on), fears, flaws, and motives, then I cannot be expected to bring those aspects of your character's personal story into the overall plot. So, yes, I would like to know, they are my concern, and I'm not only asking about people that you depend upon. For the actual RP portion, the response is very analytical, almost robotic. She pays very close attention to the people, but not to the surroundings. Also, it's sort-of implied that the other 2-3 "new trainers", i.e. the party, are viewed as a threat...but nothing in her background supports a new trainer being a threat, only established, prideful trainers and corrupt officials. Overall: I think there is a great, interesting character hiding in there...but that's just the thing, she's hiding, and rolled far too well on her stealth check. With her dark persona though, I do have concerns she may not be a great fit for the majority of the plot, as I have it planned out so far... Harbringer of Insanity with Steven Malachite Build: Looks fine, Mr. Skill Monkey.
Physical Description: Picture's worth a thousand words, and you have words too. Looks fine, but that jacket might get hot...
Personality: Hates boredom, and can be a bit of a thrill seeker. Hyperactive, over confident, and tone deaf. Gotcha.
Background: A few typos here and there (I chuckled at the "stave of boredom"), but overall good. As far as significant NPC's go, I would feel really weird bringing in another character that you made for another game...Lionel, though, I could work with.
Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Wants to go experience things and do stuff that isn't boring, and the Orange Isles fits the bill for him.
RP:Blurb: Looks good, although with off-key whistling I'm sure he would've irritated something in that forest.
Overall: A solid app. I feel like an extra significant NPC closer to his age wouldn't be a bad idea. Breakthelevee with Matthew Weiss Build: Steel Ace on a series of islands. Brave man walking around with an team of anchors hanging from your belt. Physical Description: No comment here, looks fine to me. Personality: So he's a normal, smart mouthed teenager with the vocabulary of a sailor. Got it. Background: Like the background, and it gave me the initial idea that evolved into The Battle Ship...and the 15 or so NPC's that entails... Only real complaint is that Valencia Island is not a usual stop for The Battle Ship, but I guess they could make an exception. Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Charting his own course through life's turbulent waters. Makes sense, and thematic. I can work with this. RP:Blurb:I liked it, showed his determination, and it highlighted just how out of his element he is on dry land, though perhaps a bit light on surrounding details. Overall: I like it. Lots to work with here, and The Battle Ship is going in with or without you. Joshuwatt with Jean-Francois Clemenceau Build: What did you choose as your first terrain for Survivalist? Grassland, Forest, Wetlands, Desert Ocean or Urban would be acceptable. Physical Description: Looks fine to me, no real comments or criticism. Personality: Good stuff, I can work with this, although being awkward around people could cause friction, hopefully that's nothing character growth wouldn't eventually fix. Background: When I saw "Nigel" I had to double check to make sure your character's last name wasn't "Thornberry". Kind of harsh for his parents to just leave him, and strange for him to just accept it...but at least they promised to write. I can work with this. Also, which of the Orange Islands was he born on, and which did he live on most? Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: A Question: What's more important: the Orange League or his parents? RP:Blurb: Good, very descriptive of the surroundings. I liked it. Overall: Solid. Not too much in the way of questions or criticisms here. oddeyes with Lita Build: Looks fine although Confuse Ray is not an acceptable egg move to know right away due to the Scene frequency. Physical Description: Looks good! Personality: Looks alright, though being socially awkward can cause inter-party strife, which can be good or bad depending on how it is handled. Background: I find it a little hard to believe that her parents would abandon her and leave town without her, especially at age 12... Also, she discovered 2 pokemon? Ralts and...? Why'd she leave the other one behind? And why buy motel rooms when you have a house? Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Interesting. Seems like she holds the Kanto Elite Four above the Orange League... RP:Blurb: I liked it. I like the little bit of comedy introduced. Overall: The somewhat dark background seems a little at odds with the rest of the character. Other than that I think she's shaping up well! 13rett with Jared Jones Build: No complaints or comments here. Physical Description: Picture reminds me more than a little bit of Seto Kaiba in his school uniform...but that's not necessarily a bad thing... Personality: A face like Kaiba, but a personality like Joey Wheeler...lol, Interesting. And a fear of Bayleef, you say? Background: Which island did Jared come from? ^.^ Also, you could've just requested a Froakie from Professor Ivy... Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Makes sense. RP:Blurb: I assume this was in the bottom of the background...and it's fairly light on details. No details about his surroundings, nothing that he would've seen or interacted with...it leaved a bit to be desired. But, then again, this is only optional. XD Overall: Looks good, although I would like to see a significant NPC that isn't a parent, or Professor Oak. Maybe a worker at his mom/dad's place, or a younger kid he knew from school as a few suggestions? gintash with Rick Build: Looks like you missed your free "Training Feature". Physical Description: Looks like that will stick with you! Very stark and not easily forgotten. Looks fine, and fits with his poor stealth. Kudos. Personality: I, too, like the water. How does Rick get along with other people, and when faced with challenging or stressful situations? Background: True fact, infants can actually swim really, really well...they just usually don't do it for years and forget how as they grow up. Initially I felt like the reason for going to the Orange Isles was pretty weak, as Hoenn is also a very water-friendly region...but I can see an underlying motive for his parents sending him away. Hoenn is the battleground for Teams Aqua and Magma, Rick loves water, Team Aqua loves water. Makes him a potential recruit, so his parents subtly send him away to a region with more water and less Team Aqua...subtle, and clever...and kudos if you thought it up and I just picked up on it. Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Everyone in the Orange Isles has a unique appreciation for the power and usefulness of water type pokemon. Everyone. XD That said, becoming a renowned trainer and an inspiration to others is a pretty solid motive, and he has a justifiable fear. RP:Blurb: N/A (Or I missed it, in which case I blame Jim...) Overall: Looks good. Initially I had my doubts about the background, as Hoenn felt like the most difficult region to justify coming here from, but I think it can be made to work...and, again, kudos are in order if you were subtly hinting at that. If I just made that up on my own and you had nothing of the sort in mind...then just smile, nod, and accept the kudos anyway. DataNinja with Valerie Dragmire Build: A Taskmaster?! But...but...but... All joking aside, looks fine. Girl looks like the kind to crack a whip... Physical Description: ...it must be the blood red eyes, white hair, and gloves. And that hairstyle/neck ribbon. Gotta be one hard person to rock that do. Like with the other white-haired, red-eyed person, you stick out like a sore thumb! Not easy to forget. I'm almost scared to ask what kind of footwear she has... Personality: Interesting personality. A bit bipolar, but practical too, if extreme. And hates the cold, you say? Orange Isles are nice and toasty, you say? Really now? Background: Solid, with reason enough to want to leave Snowpoint, and the much colder Sinnoh climate, behind. I'd like to know more about this brother, though... Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Any sub-goals within her primary goal? "Not going home" is pretty broad...anything she wants to accomplish while not going home? RP:Blurb: Interesting. So she gets seasick and can't swim. What could possibly go wrong? Overall: Looks good, despite the fact that you listed what amounts to The Burning Bush as a type shift. A few quips and questions here and there, but nothing major. Also, the question was asked whether or not there were problems with invasive species of pokemon in the Orange Isles. After deliberation, the answer is no, they do not have such problems. The Professor, her staff, and the League in the Orange Isles is very focused on conservation, and they watch out for that kind of situation regularly. Also, I feel like I should clarify something. You are not required to have a Trainer License to keep/own pokemon in this setting. However, you do need a Trainer License in order to battle in the Region, challenge Gyms, and compete in the League. It is simply difficult to go out and get a pokemon without having a pokemon. This is one of the many reasons why Professors offer a free starter pokemon to beginning trainers. Also, also, Llyarden, I didn't forget about ya! I just chose to not really review Olivia Martinez until she's complete.

If I just made that up on my own and you had nothing of the sort in mind...then just smile, nod, and accept the kudos anyway. Thanks for the advice, I think that I tapped out most of those dents. Also, glad you liked my little motive that I was trying to hide. I wasn't exactly sure what time this is based in comparison to the Hoenn games and so didn't want to just come out and say that. I was thinking that at that point Team Aqua was just starting to gain their reputation and that his parents, knowing he was technically an adult (in the Pokemon world at least) could have left at any point and chosen to join them. So this was their way of removing him from the choice, at least for a while until he returned having matured and learnt about being a trainer and the world and hopefully, assuming Team Aqua were still in power, that he would then know better than to go and join them when he returned to the Hoenn region. That all being said, I did his backstory from what he knew, so he knows nothing about Team Aqua and what they are doing or about the subtle reasons his parents took him to the Orange Isles and let him become a trainer. Which is also why there is nothing in there that just outright says "OMG! We must save our son from a life of evil in Team Aqua! We must send him far, far away so he can learn things and know better than to join them!" But either way, I am happy that you like what I tried to do there.

In the combat tab I have Wetlands listed.
Cool
Yeah when he gets to know people, it'll be fine.
I'll add a bit more detail, the more I think he would have protested but they would have convinced him that it was too dangerous for a child to go with them.
His favorite island to visit is Mandarin Island North because it's kind of like a vacation for him since he's always surrounded by nature. He's been to just about each island at least once but the one he's normally on is his home island, Valencia Island.
His parents are more important to him but he knows his home, the Orange Islands are important to him and to his parents so if something like Team Rocket wanted to do something to the Orange Isles/Orange League he'd fight for them.
Cool for the last two.

I have been in the skype for a bit but I have just finished the first iteration of Gale Landreth. I don't know about keeping the running shoes for the character as 2000 is a bit expensive for a mainly RP item (so he would have closer to Doduo's speed) but other than that Im pretty happy with the character.

Maybe a worker at his mom/dad's place, or a younger kid he knew from school as a few suggestions? ... Hehe. First of all the Yu-Gi-Oh comparisons were completely unknowing. I haven't seen that show in ages. I originally didn't name the island as I couldn't remember if any had the kind of the facilities Jared's father worked at. Then I forgot to go back and look, whoops. I've looked through Bulbapedia at the Orange Archipelago and didn't see any island where one was mentioned so I decided on Ascorbia Island due to it's size and idea of a Squirtle fire department. I also decided to get Froakie through a partnered facility as it sounded like Professor Ivy mainly had the Kanto & Johto starters whereas Froakie is from all the way in Kalos. Yeah I put the prompt response into the Background section. I didn't want to make a new document that was detached from the character sheet so I just added it in there. I've now reworked the Background section a bit to spruce up the prompt response and added a friend while I was at it. sheet link

Alllllllllright! Here's one of (possibly) two applications I'll be putting forward. Julie Latra, mildly disgruntled researcher's kid who's really a lot more fun if you can distract her from the climate.

Alright, so I've gone over the changes made based on the feedback I gave, where applicable, and they look solid so far. I can see you guys don't want to make this easy for me, and we're only a few days into the process. XD
As for the new apps, I will try and provide some detailed feedback later today!
Also, for whatever reason, some people had Skype guest accounts, and those expired...I would definitely encourage you to set up regular accounts and hop back in the chat. XD

More feedback! Llyarden with Olivia Martinez. I realize this is not complete, and it's just a first pass, but I think there's enough here that I feel I can provide some useful feedback. Build: Looks fine. Physical Description: Sounds good, though that big suitcase may become burdensome at times. Personality: Makes sense...and I can work with a perceived fear of water. Background: It's surprising to me that someone who wants to learn about strange happenings, especially pertaining to water, would choose to hop a cruise, as opposed to walking around their own region, but I suppose if she really wanted to escape her village with no possibility of them following her easily, then I could see it. How did Olivia's parents and Grandparents take to her leaving? What excuse did Olivia give them? Also, how do these villagers not all have hypothermia?! XD Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: I can draw them out of the Background to some degree, but a separate description of these would be helpful. RP:Blurb: N/A Overall: Looks solid so far, looking forward to see it completed, and to see what kind of NPC's you come up with. haybalebarn with Julia Latra Build: So...I have a question here, and it ties in with your inventory. It seems based on your features that the freebie feature you took from Researcher was Jailbreaker, enabling you to take Case Specialist...but on the Features tab you call out both Chemist and Jailbreaker. The initial Researcher class only grants you one of those features right away, not both. It just asks you to lock-in which two fields you want. This also means that, unless you modify things to take Chemist, you couldn't have made/purchased Pester Balls... As you're the first Jailbreaker, I should mention, though, as in their descriptions Devil Cases are outright illegal, Storage Cases are rare and illegal without a permit, and subject to some port authority inspections, and Lock Cases are generally frowned upon as a form of "imprisonment", or an "unfair advantage", similar to some types of fishing hooks, traps and nets. Having Lock Cases on your pokeballs will get you a stern talking-to from Nurse Joy...and Nurse Joy...and her cousin, Nurse Joy...and probably Professor Ivy when you send pokemon back to her...and also Nurse Joy...and- Physical Description: Looks fine to me! Personality: Perhaps a more appropriate name would be Debbie Downer. Jokes aside, it looks fine. Background: So...I really like this backstory, and I'm tracking with it...but there's one thing. Once Julia is out on her journey, there's almost nothing, aside from her own recognizance, stopping her from leaving the Orange Isles that she hates so much. Why not just try and leave right away? She seems clever enough to realize that she could... Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Looks good. No real comment here. I can work with this. RP:Blurb: I like it, and I can work with it. Overall: Some issues in the build, but otherwise looks good! I really like some of the NPC's you added in, coffeegrigis with Gale Landreth Build: Looks good, no real comment here. At first I wasn't sure how to even fluff a flying-type Magnemite, what with losing steel type, but I guess it could just be made of lighter metals, like Aluminum...though that would mean it is no longer magnetic, because it's non-ferrous...hmm...
Physical Description: Looks good, and that picture and art style is really cool.
Personality: Looks good, but it's paradoxical with his skill background. How can he be accepting of almost everyone around him if he watches everybody and trusts no one?
Background: Nice backstory...but I do have a few things to say. First...who is Barry? XD Second page, second paragraph. Also, some of the sentences run a little long in the tooth, making it a little hard to read at times. I recommend commas. Grammar aside, I like the story, although what Paul did was basically contributing to the delinquency of a minor, helping a kid run away from home...so there's that, but I can work with that. The Orange Isles are a pretty good place to send someone to hide...
Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: Seems legit.
RP:Blurb: The same grammatical criticisms apply here. Also, Gale would have no reason to suspect that there are any "others" heading up to the Lab, though he could wait to see if anyone else shows up he is not actually supposed to be meeting with a group of people at this lab. Also...who is Swift? I assume this is another mix-up, like Barry. XD
Overall: I like it, and I can see a lot of effort went into this, which is something I really appreciate! I like the NPC's you brought in as well. It just feels like it can use a little polish. As before, shadowblaze94 , I didn't forget about ya! Just not much I can post feedback on yet.

It's surprising to me that someone who wants to learn about strange happenings, especially pertaining to water, would choose to hop a cruise, as opposed to walking around their own region, but I suppose if she really wanted to escape her village with no possibility of them following her easily, then I could see it. How did Olivia's parents and Grandparents take to her leaving? What excuse did Olivia give them? Also, how do these villagers not all have hypothermia?! XD So this may just be my lack of knowledge of the Pokemon world foiling me, but I never really got the impression of Sinnoh being a particularly spiritual place. Also yeah the further away from her relatives the better. It would've been a plane but I've never really had the impression that planes are much of a thing in the Pokemon universe. Like, flying Pokemon yes, but not planes As to how her parents/relatives reacted, I'm going to include that with the NPC listing, but in short: Not brilliantly. But short of outright locking her in her room there wasn't an enormous amount they could do to stop her. Her excuse was just finally being fed up with the village and their spiritualism. Which was kinda true, just not actually the main reason for her departure. And apparently in one of my rewrites I lost the whole thing about the waters around the village being hotter because...generic scientific reasons because I don't know geology. (Which is also the scientific explanation for why there are more fish near the village than there would otherwise be.) But yeah that's why the villagers are keen swimmers despite being in a frigid environment. Goals/Dreams/Obsessions: I can draw them out of the Background to some degree, but a separate description of these would be helpful. Yes, these are also in progress. And I should be able to actually make progress on this stuff now it's the weekend because crazy busy weeks at work are annoying.

This looks pretty interesting, I'm definitely going to be making a character tonight! Edit: Finished with the most necessary stuff on my sheet (character info/Pokemon/etc.). Here's my sheet, so if anyone wants to see what I've made/critique it go ahead and take a look. I'll probably do my RP sample later tonight, and finish my inventory stuff after that.

oddeyes with Lita Sof, a few questions, some of which were unanswered. What were the two Pokemon she used before? Her parent's pokemon, what species were they? Did they have nicknames? Same questions for any of her own pokemon that she released. Also, what are her parent's names? DataNinja with Valerie Dragmire Looks like a few sentences might've gotten away from ya. But neat. So Alex is into contests, is he? Pompous and flamboyant as could be?
