The region of Gildarie has recently gone through a change, after an attack from within by Team Sovereign, a team that was tired of the control the League had over their region, and decided to place members of their Organization in key places all over the region. From gyms to contest halls even the head of the local Pokemart offices, had Team Sovereign members in control.
The attack was stopped by the Trainer Bast from Hamada, along with his mentor and a group of friends they were able to roust the Team, though their leader was able to escape into Gildarie's underground. Bast was able to win the Champion title but was met with terrible news; the League was pulling out of Gildarie. The massive security breach completely drained the leagues trust in the Region. It seemed like Bast would be the last Champion.
However, that didn't sit right with Bast. With his companions as his new Elite 4 Champion Bast has rebuilt the Gym Challenge and the League has regained their interest in the region. However to prove Gildarie was ready to rejoin the League, Trainers from outside the region must be able to pass through their challenge. So the invite has gone out, to all regions, asking potential trainers from all regions (League and Ranger Controlled) to come and take their fledgling challenge.
However not all is peaceful in reforming Gildarie, a new group has popped up Team Anarchy a group that does not want Gildarie to be reabsorbed into the League Regions, it's members enjoying the regions independent status, the group is constantly working to prevent the new challenge from succeeding no one is quite sure who leads this Organization or who funds it, but many doubt they have Gildarie's best interests at heart.
Your role in the Story: You are a potential trainer from the non-independent regions (Any region besides Orre). Who wish to come to Gildarie for a chance at a Gym Challenge. There could be a number of reasons you choose to take part a last chance, a chance of glory, or simply your region doesn't allow Trainers.
Gameplay Wise: Adventures in Gildarie, is a bit of a sandbox game, the region and story is set up in a way to allow players to choose the order in which they face the gyms. Gildarie is a region of my own design.
This is the Region:
1 Birsar: Capital of Gildarie and its major port. Home to Normal and Dark gym
2 Groostasie: The grand train station built maintained by Elite Four member. D.C. Smith
3 Wieg: A young farming community home of Gildarie's Daycare
4 Streegroef: A quarry town, produces marble from its many quarries Home to Rock gym
5 Arewa: The northern outpost, home to the Northern Guard who keep a watch on Gildarie’s northern coast and border, also home to the Ice gym
6 Tsoho: The old capital of Gildarie, once the center of a mighty empire now a historical district. Home of Dragon gym
7 Vrucada: A hot spring town and famous tourist spot. Once housed Gildarie's Fire Gym, Hometown of Elite 4 member Alphonse
8 Filay: A town on the grassy plains. Elite 4 member Julian moved here after the release of Talwa's manor
9 Kamakif: A fishing village on the far side of Gildarie, once home to Gildarie's water gym. Hometown of Elite 4 member Blanche
10 Krans: A city built into the side of the cliffs, Home to Gildarie's Flying gym
11 Hamada: A large ramshackle town out in the desert. In ancient times it was a bandit city, now it's one of the 3 major entrances to Gildarie, Home to Ground gym. Champion Bast’s home town
12 Talwa: A village hidden in the forest, once a peaceful place till Team Sovereign disturbed the old manor house now it sits within a haunted forest, home to the Ghost Gym
13 Crossroads: Before the railroad Crossroads was the center of Gildarie, literally and figuratively. Most travelers went through it in their journey. Now that the railroad is open it is frequently bypassed.
The dotted lines are Rail Road tracks that connect those towns.
There are a few homebrew mechanics some based on the fact Gildarie is working toward becoming a League region again
Pokecenter Fee: At the start of the game there will be a small fee to use pokecenters, which will shrink as more gyms are beaten there, will also be ways to bypass the fee (Free Heal tickets for challenging gyms and traversing routes).
Unlicensed Heal Machines: If you’re characters want to avoid the fee all together they will be able to find Free Heal machines (Like the ones in the Coliseum games) They can operate personally however, some of these machines may scan the players team, and let less than reputable people know what is on their team.
Cheaper Items: On the opposite side is that without League Taxes, Item shops will have items at cheaper prices at first that will rise with time.
Banking: At the start of the game the Professor will give the players the option to save a percentage of their Battle winnings(Similar to Pokemon Gold and Silvers System), that can be used to purchase items online (A way for players to buy items that a regular item shop may not carry) or to use automatically at Pokecenters.
The Crunch:
I will be taking 3 players
Characters:
Players will start at Level 1
You can choose a starter from this list at Level 10 Edit:You can put 1 Egg Move on your Pokemon at Start (End Edit)
Torchic,Treeko,Mudkip,Shuppet,Slowpoke,Meditite
Starting Cash will be 10,000 Edit:Money you don't spend pregame will carry over (End Edit)
Edit:Adding a bit more because of some repeat questions. Prohibited Items are TMs and Type Boosters, since your characters will be receiving their starters near the start of the game they won't have foreknowledge about them.
I will still allow you to take Type or Stat Ace off your starters however please do not apply any Abilities that require training yet (Such as Type Strategist). I don't want to spoil too much but there will be a battle right after you receive your Pokemon so you won't have time to perform any action on them that requires an Extended Action. (End Edit)
What material is allowed: Corebook,Playtests, Game of Throhs and the Engineer and Jailbreaker classes from Do Porygon Dream of Electric Mareep.
A Couple things to know when building your characters,
Do not expect personal combat, most if not all of combat will be between pokemon, so don’t invest heavily into player combat skills.
Supernatural is allowed but give a good background reason, don’t make a character Psychic or a Ninja for the sake of being a Psychic or Ninja
Gildarie may not be a League Region, but it’s not completely lawless, if you’re character is planning to go to Gildarie to take advantage of it like Team Anarchy, they will be in for a bad time. There is still law enforcement.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Edit: I've decided to stop accepting Applications as of Wednesday July 27th 12:00 AM EST (End Edit)
Edit: Applications are now closed, I will announce who got accepted later Today, Thank you to everyone who submitted a sheet (End Edit)
