Luke's eyes widen when he hears Dave's command. Ghosts, his only weakness! Still, he doesn't give up hope. He still has Maia on the backburner, and Dave didn't know about her... Gawain'll just have to soften Hal up till he's out for the count. "Gawain, follow behind him and use Tail Whip!" Gawain runs after the Porygon and stops just short of him, before... waggling his tail about, looking about as cute as an Eevee can be (which is to say, very). Luke uses Focused Training as an order
Gawain uses Tail Whip. AC2: 22, Lower Hal's Defense by 1 CS, Gawain gains 5 DR

"Oh, yes... I'm terrified of your vaunted waggling tail," Dave's voice oozes with sarcasm. "If that's your 'strength', you can keep it. I'll show you some of my own. Hal, let's go. Show them." The Porygon unleashes a dazzling bolt that Dave has to blink to clear from his eyes. Whoops. At least that was a good surge this time... After that, the Eevee is laying down on the floor, while Hal floats around back to where he was, beeping cheerfully. Well, the announcer said I was outnumbered... wonder what he's bringing next? A Sandile, with my luck.Hal crits with Psybeam for 53 Special Psychic damage. Hal gains 1 momentum.
Hal moves to D11. Hal gains another momentum.

"Gawain!" Luke shouts out as Gawain is hit by the Porygon's Psybeam, knocking the Eevee out cold. Though he knew this was going to happen eventually, it still stung... especially with the enormous amount of power the Porygon was putting out. Why couldn't it stay glitchy...He returns Gawain and grabs his second ball. "We're not done yet! Maia, show them what you've got!" he releases the Patrat in the same spot as he had released Gawain. "Go after that Porygon! Use Bite!" The Patrat sprints toward Hal, slowing down just in time to jump up and bite the synthetic duckthing. Luke releases Maia and binds Plainly Perfect for 2 AP
Maia uses a sprint maneuver to move over 7 to the left to H11
Luke uses Focused Training as an Order
Maia moves 3 to the left to E11 and uses Bite! AC2: 14, 28 Physical Dark Type Damage |

"Hmmm..." muses Dave. "That isn't good." Hal probably couldn't take another hit. Thinking quickly, Dave calls out, "Hal, go through the rat, directly away." He has a plan... but, it might not pay off. He'll have to see. Hal Sprints to L11.

"Okay, we'll play this smart, Hal." Dave says. "Tackle, then move back out of reach." He has to jump to the side, though, as the rat comes flying towards him... oops. Didn't quite think that part through. Dave uses Expend Momentum to roll an 11. Hal uses Tackle for 18 Physical Normal damage. Maia is pushed to I11. Hal gains DR 5, and one momentum.
Hal moves to P11 (If Detect is used, move to R11 instead) and gains one momentum.
Momentum: 6 (5if Detect used.)

"My complements to Gawain for his abilities, by the way," Dave says, still with his half-smile. Hal moves to L11. Hal uses Sharpen, and gains +1 Attack CS, and 10 DR. Hal gains 1 momentum.

Luke shakes his head. "Doesn't matter how sharp you make Hal, that Tackle isn't gonna bring down Maia. Maia, stay put." The Patrat plants her feet in the ground, keeping a watchful eye on Hal, but other than that not moving an inch.

"You do realize Porygon don't blink naturally, right?" counters Dave. "So, I think it'll be you." The Porygon continues its sharpening, reverting closer to a larger version of its old evolution. Hal uses Sharpen. +1 Attack, 10 DR.

Luke grins as Hal finally moves in close enough to attack. "Gotcha now..." he mutters as Hal bashes into Maia, knocking her back a few steps. "Yeah sure, that was effective. But so will this be... Maia, bite, now!" The rodent springs forward and clamps her teeth down on the Porygon. "AGAIN!" And again Maia bites Hal, leaving him reeling, nearly... almost... but still floating upright. Focused Training both turns

"If you're going to go for the kill, make sure you do it right," Dave says, though his confident veneer is definitely showing some major cracks. "Okay... Hal. Psybeam it. Make this one count." The rodent dodged the first shot, and Dave paled, but then it paused for just long enough for Hal to unleash a second bolt. There's a large flash of light, and only when he sees the collapsed rodent on the arena floor, does Dave let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding in. Expend Momentum to roll an 11.

Luke looks on in horror as Maia only barely manages to dodge Hal's first Psybeam, leaving her no time to attack before being hit by the second one which knocks her out cold. He, too, lets out a breath as he holds up her ball, recalling the knocked out Patrat, a sad smile on his face. "You did well, little one. Have some rest."
He walks up to Dave, still smiling sadly. "That was a good fight. Hal was pretty impressive. Good luck in your next fight," he says as he offers Dave his hand.

"I don't need luck," Dave says, shaking the hand, "Luck is something that you rely on to make up for a lack of skill. Not a lack of Pokémon." Though, he does think to himself, I do admittedly probably want to make a further attempt to expand my repertoire beyond Hal. That last battle wouldn't have been so close, I imagine, had I not been relying solely on him.

Jack had been cheering for the two throughout the match on the sidelines, watching the tactics employed by Luke to try and beat Dave and Hal, and by Dave to try and make up for his lack of pokemon. As the match was now over, Jack jumped up, running onto the field.
"Wow, guys! That was such a great match, and really close too," he said. "Congratulations on your win, Dave, but don't get too excited. It's me and Bolt's turn next, and we're no pushovers!," he said, looking at the older, pink-haired boy.
Then Jack turned his attention to Luke. "Luke, you, Gawain, and Maia did so great! And it was such a close match. Porygon are really tough pokemon, and finding out Hal had evolved was such a shock, but you handled it like a real champ! That was so cool!," he said with eager enthusiasm, smiling at Luke, Bolt echoing his enthusiasm from atop Jack's shoulder.
For Jack himself, pokemon battles hadn't been this exciting...Bolt had always been the Enthusiastic one, but this battles he'd just watched, this whole tournament had stirred something in him he couldn't quite explain. He felt...anxious...trepidation....excitement...and he couldn't really explain where it was coming from...but thinking about the battle ahead, he kinda liked it...

"And the winner of that....interesting...battle was Dave Dyson of Larousse City with his Partner Hal the Porygon2! He will be moving on to the finals with the local Jack Roberts!"
Throughout the fight, the audience had been mostly silent, cheering when either side hit, and watching in anticipation during the calm moments. The fight was so different when compared to the rest of the Tournament, more methodical, more technical. The announcer was going throughout, making sure to point out that most amatuer trainers would have rushed in mindlessly and the two sides taking their time and scoping each other out was a sign of a skill level above most of the competition. This seemed to keep the audience interested and the cheer that erupted when Hal dealt the final blow was deafening. Though above the rest of the crowd, a girlish "NOO" could be heard. It seems that Luke was going to have something to deal with later.
Dave was able to take Hal to get healed, quickly and with no issues once again, before taking his side opposite Jack. This time, the battle would take place on a raised stadium, the field slightly smaller then the previous.
"Alright! HERE IT IS! The finals of the Fifth Annual Tournament of Heroes! A battle between two of the Heroes of Nuvema Town, brave enough to stand up against members of a gang claiming to be Team Plasma!" The audience erupted in cheer "Now, who will win, Dave Dyson and his technical style, honed in the famous Battle Tower? Or the Hometown Hero Jack Roberts and the power of his Pichu, who beat his last opponent in a single hit? Only one way to find out!"
"BATTLE BEGIN!"
