Another question on that topic; what sort of mean did the First Sons use to destroy the caravan?
Conventional weaponry of some age (guns, spears ect), mad max-esque flaming junk or perhaps just powerful pokemon?
Would help to set the tone right, but I guess our characters might not know : )

@ ThRevanchist Yes and yes. @ Lessah: They used a combination of almost professional weaponry and extremely powerful Pokemon. They weren't a screaming bandit gang. These guys were professional and efficient- almost machine-like in their actions.

Very interesting. I have a couple of ideas bouncing around in my head (really like 4 concepts, honestly), and I have a couple questions.
1) How do you feel about young mute/semi-mute characters? One concept I was working up was a child Oracle that is basically just a support, almost entirely non-combat, and his first Augury vision (seizures) when he was a kid was the destruction of the world, which left him mute after seeing it. Of course he doesn't understand what he's seeing, or saw, but the sheer depth of the destruction was enough to scar him and he hasn't spoken since and has to communicate in other ways.
2) If we make characters with Smithing, do we get the cost reduction for initial crafting at character creation? And how does that interact with the prices you listed in here? Totally different character I'm toying with.

Well I have a couple character ideas bouncing around but definitely count me as interested! I like the setting a lot, seems like a fun post-apocalypse setting that I can sink my teeth into.
1) Lyra Renaldi a Marksmen Skirmisher who scouted for the caravan and only survived because she was away from the fighting when it happened and returned to find herself suddenly orphaned and alone, besides the few other survivors that is. 2) Blake Ciar a Survivalist Backpacker Rogue who was hitching a ride with the Caravan but was horrified by the actions of the Last Sons and now burns with the desire yo aid them and help the survivors. 3) Noba Kya a Trickster Provocateur Type Ace(Haven't picked a type yet) who saw her original starter Pokemon brutally killed by the attackers and left her with only the young child of her original starter and a desire for revenge.
So those are what I'm working with right now, any thoughts on which would work best here? Conversely can I apply with multiple characters?

@ JPThunda Age is not a factor; nor is class type/combat role, for that matter. Anyone could have survived the attack. Smithing would not reduce the cost of what you recover- you're basically scavenging, not building new weapons. In relation to the costs, the costs represent the worth of materials needed to smith the weapon. gameofchampions I'd say the first and third would work best. Feel free to apply with multiple characters, by the way (this goes for everyone); it'll increase your odds of being chosen.

Another random question in relation to the playtests; some classes (medic & backpacker I think) are only present in the playtest packs.
Are they okay to pick or off the table like the other content of the playtest packages?

No playtests will be used; the game will be using PTU Version 1.05, as it's the version I'm most familiar with.

Alright, cool, thanks for the responses. Oh, another question. I saw you mentioned picking starters appropriate to a Savannah. Would a charmander be an acceptable starter, or would you prefer something with the habitat Grassland?

I won't actually have time to work on a character until Tuesday evening, but I've got an Apothecary/Chemist in mind. Serving as the caravan's alchemist, concocting useful medicines and other elixers. However he refuses to risk any new admixtures on his companions before first testing them on himself, with mixed results over the years. Because of this his body has been warped and twisted Quasimodo style, giving him a monstrous appearance but also enhanced physical capabilities. Probably go for Athlete as a secondary class to represent this, and eventually one of the Elementalists as he grows. Not sure which one yet.

Hi, here's a 'first draft' completion of my character, Violet. It is mostly done, but I might still be changing things here and there. I had the concept of a 'mysterious carer' in mind, and this is the result. She is primarily supportive. I would like to ask, to what extent can Mentor training features be applied to my Pokemon before the game starts, if at all? If I am missing anything or if there are any issues, let me know.

Ok so Lyra and Noba are good then. So for starters that work with the setting I was thinking a Skorupi for Lyra since they work with the whole dry wasteland thing and then for Noba I'm toying with her being a dark ace and giving her a Sandile to start with since that also works and then later she may dip into Shadecaller when she has more dark Pokemon. Or maybe a Grass Ace and start her with a Paras or Cacnea.
Thoughts on the starters?

Then for my second character, one who took care of plants. Her name is Esminalda, but her friends call her Min, if she ever finds some.

OK!! Here is Lyra Renaldi the Pinpoint Scout! On a side note I'll have Noba Kya my Shadow Trickster up later today, I ended up deciding on Dark Type Ace.

I'll have my Druid/Botanist/Climatolgist with a Portable Grower up later today. I just wanted to ask if Egg Moves were allowed. I didn't see a mention one way or the other.

For those of you wondering about the starter: as long as it's relatively reasonable, then it's fine. Bergamite, for example, are not reasonable (where did you get an ice type in such a warm climate?), whereas Charmander are somewhat reasonable (the caravan may have passed through some badlands the Charmander called home.) Each starter can have one egg move of your choice, if you like. Mentor features can be applied (it's assumed that you owned your starter for a while.) I'm not going to advise you on class/character optimization, though. While I have some ideas as to how the game is going to end, I've got no clue how it's going to get there. A lot can happen.

So the starter rule is completely fine but I'm wondering will we ever get the chance to get pokemon like that? For example some of the Pokemon I want are a Sneasel and a Horse but I don't think I'll be able to get those by these rules. If not that's fine I'll just take them off my list I'm just curious.

You won't be able to start out with them, but as your travels take you all over the place, you'll be able to catch the ones on your wish list. I wouldn't be much of a GM if I didn't give you that chance, now would I?

I don't know if you can get a horse, unless you go to the real world. ;P
How would terravores work? I was thinking about having one as my starter, but I feel like that would be kinda cheesy. I don't want to completely ignore one of the systems like that.

I'm pretty happy with my ponyta starter and rider class. A lot of Jessica's other pokemon are gonna be hard to find though. Good thing I plan on being able to make apricorn balls.
