The Mankey's glowing punch hits Vincent right in the side, likely going to leave a nasty bruise later if not attended to. The boy winces, but the fight hasn't left him and he remains ready to support Machiavelli. If only he could actually pierce the Mankey's defences. Vincent is beginning to have doubts about their ability to take on the Mankey considering how the fight as gone so far, but he shoves them to the side. "Just keep trying to do some damage with Fire Fang! You'll get it eventually."
JoJo's assistance at this point was very welcome to him and he smiled at the girl thankfully. It was a little embarrassing that he had to get help after making the fight a 2 v 1, but he'd take any help he could get at this point.
Machiavelli was getting frustrated himself and is becoming eager to fall onto the attack he was more trained in, Bite, but he relents at Vincent's command. A spark appears at one of his teeth and then his jaws burst into flame. He tries to bite into the Mankey using his fiery teeth.

Jax recalls Abra and silently lets things continue. Mister Roth seemed like he wanted to do this on his own, and now that the little Pokémon from the sidelines has run off, and Miss Joyce and her Pokémon are helping, perhaps Jax can withdraw from the fight in order to show Mister Roth some respect and afford him a little dignity as well.
Jax watches from close by, remaining ready to jump back in if needed.

The Mankey, who was more injured than previously thought, falls to the ground with a grunt as Vell's Fire Fang does its job. Unfortunately for any who may have wanted to capture it, poke balls do not work on unconscious foes. Of course, there is no reason you couldn't revive and capture it, or drag it with you to be healed and battle it again (or perhaps just ask if it will come with you).

With the battle coming to a surprising end, Vincent looks at the Mankey for a moment before shrugging.
I didn't mean to knock it out, but its a Fighting-type, it should be safe against the Bugs of the forest. Probably.
He walks a few meters back and picks up Machiavelli's Pokeball, as well as the empty one he dropped.
Machiavelli growls deeply in victory. He sounds so happy to have dealt the finishing blow that Vincent can't help but smile and rub the reptile's head affectionately. "Well done Vel," Vincent says to his Pokemon, and then he turns to the group. "Well, even though this Mankey was interesting, it wasn't a Scyther. I hope you don't mind if we look a little more? After one or two more encounters I think I'll call it quits, since we don't want to stick around for night fall."
With that said, Vincent pulled out another bottle of Enriched Water and guzzled the drink down. He also zipped down his sleeveless jacket, pulled up his thin vest and poured a little water where the Mankey had hit him. Then he continued walking.

Walking around a bit longer, the group doesn't seem to find anything. However, JoJo gets the sense that something is watching them.

"Oh, hello," Jax says when the Volbeat's Glow spread far enough to eerily illuminate him, his voice holding its ever-cheerful tenor. "I have brought the Mankey with me."
Abra knocks around in his Poké Ball, unable to get out. He sends Jax mental warnings that something else is in the area, aware of the group's presence, but sometimes people just aren't in tune to receive psychic messages and Jax doesn't register them.

Vincent simply nodded at Jax, noting how eerie the lighting made him appear. Who wears a mask in the evening anyway. Doesn't that inhibit their sight or something? Vincent mentally put his mind back on track. Anyway, it seemed the masked boy was either kinder than Vincent expected or a real Pokemon hunter, since he had decided to bring along the unconscious Mankey.
Now, it was unlikely that Jax was who or what JoJo had been talking about. As creepy as the masked teen could look, JoJo should already be used to him. So what was it that made her feel something was wrong? Vincent cast his gaze about, trying to determine if there was something he should be worried about.

Neither Vincent nor JoJo are able to discern anything in the growing darkness. The sun by this point is below the treeline, making the forest much spookier. It's always possible that JoJo just has "the creeps" from being in a spooky place at "night".

She pulled out her backpack and rooted around for a moment before pulling out some ornate sticks with glowy bits on the end.
"Alright, let's rock!"
She started spinning around violently on one foot. She pretended not to get dizzy as she waited for the glowy bits to alight

The creepy feeling only intensifies over time, but JoJo seems to do her best to try and ignore it. After spending a good 10 minutes searching the area with her dowsing rods, JoJo manages to find a green shard. Just as she bends down to pick it up, something appears right in front of her face! Vincent jumped at JoJo's scream. A command for Machiavelli was already on his lips, before he realised that she wasn't under attack. Seeing her interact with a strange pumpkin Pokemon, Vincent's heartbeat returned to normal and he relaxed once more.
Damn, that nearly gave me a heart attack. I suppose trickster Pokemon do like to come out at night.

The floating pumpkin Pokemon twirls in the air. "Pumpkaboo!" it shrieks, clearly having enjoyed startling everyone. As you reach out to touch it, your hand passes through, identifying it as a Ghost Type, if it weren't already obvious from the way it appeared out of nowhere.
