I have reached out to the other previous applicants. 1 response so far. Received a message from Metal Lance on the other forum website we frequent, and he is interested in coming back. Both are working on characters. Max Press isn't returning, but it seems like he may be interested in filling in as the capture specialist of the group. Time will tell.

Just a note to the remaining player, madviser, that I've accepted a place in this game. Hopefully you're not too surprised by the sudden post.

Posted. Also did you train your pokemon? It's been two days in character, so you should've have time to apply experience training if you wanted to

Bug Catching ContestThe score earned for a given Pokémon is the following: - The level of the Pokémon relative to the maximum that can be found in the contest. (e.g. pre Badge #1, the maximum level of anything is 10.)
- The Pokémon's HP relative to its maximum, as a percentage
- A rarity factor, either 60 (Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, Wurmple, Silcoon, Cascoon, or Kricketot), 80 (all Pokémon not mentioned), or 100 (Scyther or Pinsir)
Other factors, such as Shininess, do not affect the outcome.
A list of prizes and other such things can be found on the Bulbapedia page for the video game version of the Bug Catching Contest. For easy reference, it shall be posted again here (including edits to keep this from dragging on too long): The Rules: To compete, Trainers must catch the single best Bug-type Pokémon they can find. To do this, Trainers are given ten Sport Balls, and they are only allowed to use a single Pokémon from their party. The rest of a Trainer's Pokémon and all of their items remain with the contest officials until the competition is over. Any Pokémon caught will be recorded in the Pokédex, but only one Pokémon can be kept to be judged. The Pokémon that is judged may be kept after the competition. The competition ends when all the Sport Balls are used, the Trainer blacks out, the Trainer leaves the park, or 20 minutes have passed. After that, the judging will occur, in which Trainers are scored on their skills of capturing rare and powerful Pokémon. List of available Pokemon:- Caterpie Family
- Weedle Family
- Nincada
- Paras
- Venonat
- Scyther
- Pinsir
- Wurmple Family (both branches)
- Volbeat
- Illumise
- Kricketot
- Kricketune
- Combee
Prizes: All competitors may keep the Pokemon used for judging. 1st Place - P2000 and a Random Evolutionary Stone. 2nd Place - An Everstone 3rd Place - Random Tier 2 Berry. Consolation Prize - Random Tier 1 Berry.

A new player will be entering the game soon. He is another Bug Catching Contest competitor. You may now add Abra to your pokedex.

Everyone's pokedex should have the following Pokemon marked in it: Abra, Bulbasaur, Sandile, Kakuna, Dustox, Beldum, Cleffa, Rattata, Sentret, and Zigzagoon. You may level up whenever you get around to it.

Keep in mind that you may only keep one of the Pokemon that you capture for the contest. Additionally, once everyone has encountered at least 4 Pokemon (whether or not you battle/capture them), I will be ending the contest.

I just had a look at Jax' Wild Encounter Thread and darn you're right, I forgot I shouldn't have been able to use a Revive. Sorry about that, Raven! I tend to be kinda forgetful.

Agreed, that was also great for getting Dex EXP, even though Vincent didn't end up catching much.

It's just like the video games. I always lost out to an NPC there as well, lol.

All about luck. I frequently won the contest, but usually only by catching something at the max possible level at full HP. Often this was going to be scyther or pinsir, but I saw NPCs win with freaking Butterfree over a scyther I caught.

The only shiny I ever legitimately caught was in a HG/SS competition. It was a Kakuna. It was green.

I forgot about this earlier, but everyone gains 3 Trainer XP for competing in the Bug Catching Contest. Jax gains 2 additional XP for getting 2nd place. JoJo gains 1 additional XP for getting 3rd place.

Just so I am certain, what is the party dying? Wild hunting? Progress through the first? Return to the city?

Even though nobody rolled to find a Wild Encounter, I'll drum something up soon. Just needed that clarification.

Would you like some wild encounter rolls? Can we treat it like we all split up but still stayed rather close to each other so that we can inform each other of what we find and whether or not we want some help?
