Noticing the fact that the other assorted Pokemon gathered in the council room staring at her, the Deerling shrinks back even further. "Wha...what?" she asks, looking between Lewis and the other Pokemon, still looking very puzzled. "Why is everyone staring?"
"Perhaps," the Mayor suggests, speaking up for the first time since the impromptu meeting had begun, "you should simply explain what you know, Eevee, since our new arrival doesn't seem to attach much importance to...whatever else it is you have been whispering about."

Lewis nodded, although clearly uncomfortable with divulging the deerling's life story.
"As some of you may know, Spoink, Mawile, Cubone, and my self ventured into Sandfield Plains to rescue the Joltik who had wandered in, and ran into several groups of hostile ferals. Deerling here was one of those ferals. As for the rest of what I was whispering, I was simply explaining that she clearly is not still one, and noting that she would not be the first feral to become civilized in recorded history. In fact,we should send someone to the Celeste City Archives to see what specific data in this field we can collect"

Virgil's face scrunches as he thinks about what Kyria should say. "Errr....I dunno. Eevee might have been the only other one who saw you leave since there was so much smoke..." He pauses to think it over, "I'm not good at coming up with things...maybe you just got scared by Deerling." Ok maybe that was stretching it, Kyria wasn't afraid of anything...well almost. "Or or the smoke made you step out and you coughed so much you fell out the window!"
Then a thought pops into his head, "Oh, or did you mean what should you say? ...I'm not sure. I think they won't treat you any different if they know."

Melanie gives a quiet, approving nod at Eevee's speech... well, most of it. She's doubtful about telling the whole room Deerling used to be a feral - even if she's clearly normal now, she doesn't think singling Deerling out as different is likely to lead anywhere good (a tendency of large groups in general that Melanie's more familiar with when she'd like). But at least Eevee's placing emphasis on her being safe now, and the idea of finding out more.

Kyria groans at Virgil mentioning it again, quickly approaching the guild Hall. "I'll think of something" she says as she rushes to her room, pushing the door open with her superior strength compared to the other two attempts and getting her sword before rushing to the meeting once more.

The reaction from the assembled Pokemon is...varied, to say the least. Everyone starts talking at once, which makes it a little difficult to figure out what anyone is trying to say. You can tell at least a little from their body language, though. Zoroark, Granbull and Chimchar are all eyeing the Grass-type suspiciously. Fennekin is as well, though in her case she seems more scared than aggressive. Farfetch'd, Xander and Marowak all seem more defensive of the Deerling, while Numel and Snorlax take in the entire thing in with the same lack of concern as they seem to take everything. Professor Scrafty doesn't even seem to have noticed the revelation, still tinkering in the background with the device that had previously belched out a vast quantity of smoke.
It's this same device that interrupts the inordinate number of arguments, suddenly springing into life to project a map of the world. This map is immediately covered in all manner of squares of various sizes, and as each square appears it makes a faint chiming noise - or, at least, a chiming noise that would be faint if there were not about a dozen of them going off every second.
In this new cacophony, Kyria and Virgil return almost unnoticed.

Seeing an opportunity to switch focus away from the poor deerling cowering behind the Cubone a third of his size, Lewis spoke up "Good job, Professo- oh no. Guildmaster Snorlax, may I propose that we put a pin on this section of the meeting to discuss how we're going to respond to everwhere being on figurative, if not literal fire?

Everyone wasn't paying attention to them as they walked into the room, which was good. The cacophonous dinging however, was not music to Virgil's ears. He deflates a little; Kyria had been right about everywhere being in trouble. "Err...what do we do? Do you think the same thing really happened everywhere?" He anxiously scans the map, hoping that Sainok isn't one of the dots.

Kyria blinks, drowning out the bleeping pretty easily, her eyes turn to the cowering deerling and she sighs. She then walks over next to it, going to put a hand on its back and comfort it. Looking over at the machine and the others she takes a deep breath and looks straight at the guildmaster. "What do we do, it's as I expected and we can't just stand around, every second we wait could be another's life." Now that the mood in the room has turned more serious, kyria wasn't paying around, she needed to act. "The deerling is not our enemy, she's scared and doesn't know what's going on, the least we can do is help her, or some of us can, the ones who won't be fighting. Do we have a volunteer?"

Melanie winces visibly when the arguments start erupting. Yes, that's just about exactly what she was afraid of. She steps up to stand with Eevee and the other Cubone, though she doesn't start actually taking part in the arguments just yet. Everyone else is almost certainly doing a better job than she possibly could anyway. Under all the ruckus, she murmurs to Deerling, "Try not to let it bother you too much. I know what it's like to have people be suspicious of you." She's rather hoping Deerling doesn't remember what she did in the fight, if this really is one of the ones they fought in the dungeon. Charm Roll: Comforting Deerling: 3NqFGO2i2d6 And... then Scrafty's invention puts an abrupt stop to the debate. The chorus of frantic chimes isn't really a remarkable improvement on the argument for noise level, but it's a little less hostile, at least in any sort of directed fashion. Melanie's eyes widen as she realizes what the chimes and lights must mean. "Those are all requests, aren't they?"2d6

Kyria's speech goes without a response, and for a few moments you might think that it simply hadn't been heard, but for Granbull pausing in his own argument to glare at her. Almost unheard over the noise, the Deerling looks up to Melanie. "Thanks," she says quietly, seemingly more reassured by her than by Kyria's attempt to do much the same thing.
"Yeah, they are," Xander replies, answering Melanie's question. "Though most of those are way away from what we can deal with here."
"May I have your attention?" Snorlax booms, rather abruptly, sounding fully awake for once and cutting off the last of the arguments. "According to the reports, what has happened to us has happened everywhere. Totems exploding, Mystery Dungeons disgorging hordes of ferals, and a large number of Mystery Dungeons simply appearing out of nowhere. The Explorer's Guild - those of them that are left, at least - are rallying to respond to the various requests for assistance, as are a number of retired Explorers. As such, many of those requests -" he waves a massive paw at the projection "- are either being handled already or are too far away from here for us to usefully contribute towards. This leaves five requests in the vicinity. Two of them are located in Sandfield Plains, and I suggest that what remains of Team Flash Fire attends to those. And, perhaps, does better than blindly following a leader," he adds disapprovingly. "There is one request from the Sherrif's Department, which I shall attend to. Granbull and Scrafty, stay here to coordinate the other teams, and try to find out more about what is going on. As for our newest explorers, I leave the decision of which request to undertake to you."
"The rest of you, I suggest you return to your occupations, and fix them up as best you can. We may need them in the future."
He folds his arms, or at least puts them reasonably near each other.
"Any questions?"

Kyria steps forward, "Two, actually. What do we do about the deerling, and what are the two remaining requests? We could watch over the deerling if we have to, or rather, I would, as i can't speak for the others. Anything we can do we will." Kyria holds a more formal stance than her normal slouched and rough stance. She has quite the eloquence when facing authority it would seem. If someone ought to watch over the former feral, it should be someone in the exact same situation.

Snorlax yelling is way worse than Granbull Virgil definitely listens attentively to the guildmaster speak. Another adventure so soon? Well...they could handle that. Even if Kyria was pretty beat up from the fall. "Y-yea, we could watch after her..." Virgil adds nervously. He'd almost forgotten the Deerling in all the excitement but she would probably do best here since they were bound to dive into danger. At least, the others had asked about the missions for him. Snorlax almost seemed even bigger after his outburst.

Melanie raises an eyebrow when the Guildmaster actually takes charge. Well, she supposes he has to have gotten his position somehow, or Granbull would have been in charge in title as well as just making things happen day to day. As much as her initial urge would be to help everybody, he's right - there are other explorers, and most of the crises would be over with well before a team from Sandy Bay could reach them.
That doesn't stop her from looking a little distressed as she glances at the part of the map showing the northern mountains. She knows the Guild in Bagdoral was practically falling apart before she left... she just has to hope some of her old friends are still up to the task of making things right there.
"I'll be happy to assist with the missions however I can," she says, raising her voice loud enough to be heard by the meeting in general for the first time. It's targeted as much at Mawile as at Snorlax, just to let her and Eevee know they're not the only ones ready to help.

"Do about me?" Having already been startled by Snorlax's shout, the Deerling seems more nervous than ever. "Oh, okay," she sighs in relief after a moment, as Virgil (albeit slightly unintentionally) clarifies Kyria's statement. And then after a moment's pause, she suddenly looks over to Virgil and says "Hey, I remember you! Or...your voice, anyway.""Well, time is not exactly of the essence, Mystery Dungeons being what they are, but certainly I expect anyone on the outside would appreciate their friends or belongings being retrieved as soon as possible, and we don't want them cluttering everything up. As to the requests themselves..."Snorlax gestures to Scrafty, who carries over a selection of odd-looking gizmos, only dropping about half of them on the way, and distributes them to all the Explorers in the room. "I have been, ah, working on some improvements to the conventional Exploration Gadget. While they have not been, er, tested, they should perform adequately and in the, um, circumstances the Guildmaster decided to have them distributed now. Primarily, they should improve upon the, ah, default synchronisation method, which might be a comfort to some of, um, you after your misadventures yesterday. In addition, they will be able to pick up missions from the communications, er, console without you having to come all the way back here, which should help to, um, avoid incidents in which you return to receieve a request only to, ah, learn that the mission is precisely where you just came from."Remarkably for the Professor's gadgets, these seem to be actually user-friendly; slotting your existing Exploration Gadgets into the upgrades immediately causes them to bring up a list of five requests. It looks like they're being automatically filtered to discount far-away missions, though there's probably a way of changing that. - 7-2-039.052.003.033.059.101.122.118.011.012.112.

Looking at the list of options, well, two options given that three of them had already been dibs'd.
"As much as I love me some artefacts, historical or otherwise, I can't help the feeling that Pansage might need our help more. Who's with me, guys?"

Melanie makes a quiet noise in her throat as she looks over the list, padding back over to Eevee. Yeah, she's glad the Guildmaster called that outlaw mission. An A-rank job, against an evolved outlaw, is enough to make her nervous just seeing it on the list.
"Seconded. Looks interesting, but not urgent. Especially since Castform looks like a talker." If somebody can't keep their help message down to a hundred and forty characters, they're probably pretty verbose in person, too. Especially if they say "good morning" to the submission form.

"You do?" Virgil asks, a little confused before putting together the pieces, "Oh...yea. I, uhhh, might have been the one to knock you out. Sorry" This was shaping up to be more awkward than he had hoped.
Trying to avoid it getting even more awkward, he tries to focus on the mission. "Err..trying to find Pansage would probably be best. Who knows how long they could be stuck down there otherwise." He takes a look at the map again, "Errr, how do we get to Floral Fields?"

Conveniently, the Exploration Gadget map includes a global scale as well, which makes it fairly easy to figure out how to get to Floral Fields. It's a few hours' travel away, so with luck you would be able to travel out there, retrieve this Pansage and their basket of flowers and get back home all in one day. As the other explorers - and assorted other Pokemon - depart, Fennekin leaves her group and approaches you, bringing with her a reasonably sized bag. (Deerling even more pointedly stays behind Xander as the fire-type gets closer.) "We never really thanked you for helping us. I know you didn't...actually come to rescue us, but I'm glad you did. We, er, borrowed this from Simisear's supplies. I'm sure he won't mind," she says, with a mischevious little grin, pushing the bag towards...well, mostly towards Lewis, but obviously intended for all of you. OOCThe bag contains 4000 Poke.
Also, everyone gains a milestone, and an additional 5 Texp!
