Episode #1: The Beginning

"Hmmm, not much of a party with just the three of us. We should hunt down the Cubones, and Fenny, and Numel and Chimchar. But for now, RAMEN! Ooh, and some Pecha Noire"

Melanie sighs a little and heads out to start working, since she's clearly not going to get anything else useful out of Scrafty. After a couple of tentative tests, she discovers that the device does actually seem to work - even without the bits that fell off.

Getting the normal Pokémon she finds back into the clinic winds up being a bit of a trial, though. She does her best to move them along without aggravating their injuries too much, but unfortunately she's both rather short and not the strongest, so there's only so much she can avoid dragging them.

Despite the chaos of the day, the evening goes by in relative peace. After quite some deliberation as to what to do with the rather large number of unconscious and injured feral Pokemon that had been littering the town, it is eventually decided to just throw them back into the entrance to Sandfield Plains and let the Dungeon deal with them, which it seems to do, given that it swallows them up as readily as anything else.

Nonetheless, despite a guard shift being set to watch the Dungeon in case any more ferals attack, the four of you get a restful night's sleep.

The next day, though, all the Explorers - including Lewis, in his newfound status as a full member of the Guild - are summoned to an emergency meeting. The operations room looks much the same as it did the previous day, though some of the assorted debris and smashed furniture - presumably some of the fighting had made it in here - has been tidied away. As well as Granbull and Snorlax, Zoroark, Marowak and Farfetch'd are present too, despite not being actual explorers. Fennekin, Numel and Chimchar are all there as well; Fennekin waves at you as you arrive. Xander is there too, oddly, with an unfamiliar Deerling...sort of hiding behind him. (Sort of on account of the fact that the Deerling is slightly bigger than him.)

The last member of the impromptu council that you notice is Professor Scrafty, who is tinkering with a large device at the back of the room. Unfortunately, you don't get to see much of him before whatever it is he's doing emits a vast cloud of smoke that covers the room.

"Not to, ah, worry!" Scrafty's voice echoes through the smoke, amidst various exclamations of surprise, including an "Eek!" that by process of elimination those of you that know the residents of Sandy Bay would assume to be the Deerling's. "I must merely have included too much of the thingummy. Or perhaps not enough of the whateveritis."

After a scrumptious bowl of noodles Virgil had been more than ready to clock out for the day. He had spent a little bit of time helping out before then but he really was tuckered out. Luckily sleep had come easily.

"An emergency meeting?" He says to himself as he prepares himself for the day ahead. Best to make himself presentable. He tries to be a bit understated. Something that would be easier to maintain than yesterday's style.

It all comes together flawlessly and Virgil hops into the meeting with the rest. "Why do you think the others are here?" He asks softly. Did prominent towns members often sit in on Guild Meetings? Well maybe there were exceptions. He's just about to ask Eevee if Deerling was another local when the room is blanketed in the ashen cloud. "Wuh, awww man I just got this right," He pouts as the smoke clings to his fur.

 He'd pout more except Kyria just disappears. Barely catching sight of her as he turns around, Virgil calls, "Mawile?", but bounces after her as he doesn't get a response. "Err..I'll go see what's up," he says over his shoulder. His coat could wait. With the sounds of a hastily erected barricade, Virgil knocks, "Kyria, what's wrong? Why're you hiding?"

As it turns out, hauling injured Pokémon is tiring work... and therefore very good at procuring a good night's sleep, so Melanie was rested and ready to go when the emergency meeting was called the next morning. After the exploding totem and the feral invasion, that's no surprise, nor is it that most of the other prominent residents of the town are in attendance, too.

Melanie's eyes skip right over the Deerling, assuming she's another explorer she just hasn't met yet. Cubone's presence is much more interesting (Melanie is politely ignoring having overheard Eevee calling him by name before), considering how set his mother's been against him being an explorer... she wonders if something happened to change her mind, or if he's just here with Marowak.

Her attention is rather distracted from that puzzle by Professor Scrafty's latest bizarre device starting to belch smoke. She hears a good deal of confusion - including somebody actually leaving, quite fast - but she figures the best thing to do is to stay put. No point in dashing around when she can't see where she's going, so she just rubs at her watering eyes and tries not to breathe too deeply. Hopefully with the door open the smoke will dissipate a little faster.

Kyria hears the knocking and the voice of two others, oh no, how did they catch up so fast? She has to think fast, think... She has one option it seems, she looks at the window and sighs.

The next thing people will hear is the windows flying open as kyria soars through them, using her training in acrobatics to soften her fall, running through town to flee.

Lewis heard a dull thud from the other side of the door. At this point he just shook his head and turned to Virgil.

"This has officially become outside of my depth. I'm going back to the meeting, if you need my help wrangling the wild child later on, hit me up."

So he did. As the newly minted explorer re-entered the main hall, he decided to swallow his misgivings, and finally approached the cubone.

"Hey man, just wanted to say congrats on making it into the explorer's guild, you really earnedit. And sorry if I was a bit too happy for myself when I made 'junior explorer'.

Melanie shrugs her shoulders helplessly in response to the Deerling's question. "Not sure. I only met them yesterday. Hopefully they'll be back."

And then, as it turns out, only Eevee is. She follows him over to where Cubone is standing and taps his shoulder gently. "What was that all about? It was just smoke." She's under the impression that all three of them decided to decamp because of the malfunction... never mind that Eevee's come back and the other two haven't. "Where'd Mawile and Spoink go?"

Melanie is silent for a long moment. "I'm sorry, I must have misheard you. I thought you just said she jumped out a window." Melanie's really confused now - it's not as if anyone was even chasing Mawile, except for the other two of course.
