This is the one week of the year in Sandy Bay where the ailing town resembles its old self. Assorted vendors and merchants have set up wagons and tents to sell various knickknacks to the tourists that have arrived. Farfetch'd is more or less run off his feet providing various refreshments, ably (and in some cases, not-so-ably) assisted by various young Pokemon who've been conscripted into helping with the promise of being able to get a snack afterwards. The Summer Festival itself is not the only reason that the town is so busy. For his own inscrutiable reasons, the famed Explorer Simisear has arrived in the town and been persuaded to give a brief speech on the Explorer's Guild. That is scheduled to occur in about half an hour, but for the time being, the five of you are free to do whatever you wish. OOCFeel free to interact with whoever you want; as well as the NPCs listed under Sandy Bay (and Simisear, of course) there are various other 'nameless' (so to speak) NPCs that you can talk to.

Lewis didn't normally care for the festival. Sure, the candy was tasty, and his mom was a lot more fun to be around after her third or fourth glass of pecha wine, but at the end of the day he'd always have a stomach ache and some jerk would always manage to step right in his ink pots. Every. Single. One. Every. Single. Time. But this time was different. Undine had finally broken down and let him join the explorer's guild. Sure, technically she'd made arrangements to keep him from being a full fledged member, but that didn't change the fact that he was around the real deal on the daily.
After finishing sweeping up the bottom floor of the guildhouse, Lewis scampered down to the inn. Surely the other townsfolk were too busy getting ready for the festival to bother SImisear....or not. The door to the inn had a crowd around it so big that one might assume the entire town was there.
"Darn" Lewis muttered under his breath. That was okay though. Lewis could wait.

Kyria bursts through the Guild hall doors, just having been accepted there with Virgil, she was full of energy and excitement. She finds herself staring at the crowds of the festival that greeted her earlier that day, glancing around at all the stalls, these kinda things never happened in Sainok. She would glance at all the different stalls as she passed, trying to see if anything caught her eye, she had a minor interests in certain things so why not take a look around? Its better than just waiting for the ceremony anyways. Her minor control in her jaws when distracted is quite relevant as they probably swayed, bumping into people as she moved through crowds. Looking for odd Trinkets that would catch Kyria's eye, and within price range, Kyria has 1500 spare. More than that though, looking for items that can be used to alchemy onto my weapon for bonus effects when i use it, again within price range, like mareep wool for a paralyze chance, whatever works.

Melanie leans on her long club as she surveys the crowd around the inn from another direction. She only arrived a few days ago, a little while before Simisear, and to be perfectly honest she's not sure how she feels about the crowds. But she survived a couple of months in Celeste City, even if she spent most of it in the library, so she supposes she can handle the festival.
She smiles behind her mask as she spots another Cubone among the crowd and wanders over to talk to him. After growing up almost entirely surrounded by her own clan back in the mountains, she doesn't see many other Cubone around outside of it, so this is an unusual encounter for her. "Good morning. Hoping to see Simisear before the big speech?

"Thanks again Guildmaster Snorlax," Virgil calls back before hurrying out the doors after Kyria. He surveys the crowd, had it gotten bigger from earlier? It certainly seemed that way. He tries to keep up with Kyria's strides as they dive into the crash of a Pokemon.
He tries to keep an eye on all the stalls as well, sometimes twisting mid-bounce to get a better look. Of course, he'd already spent most of his money before they'd left. Virgil would just have to convince himself with window shopping. Though there weren't any windows here. This line of thought was interrupted by the sudden spilling of a Budew by Kyria. "Oh. S-Sorry about her," Virgil says, placatingly, stopping too help him up, "First time to a festival. Hard to pay attention and keep the mouth in line."
After getting the Budew standing again he bounds to catch up once more. He just manages to duck under another swing of Kyria's mouth. "You need to be more careful Mawile. You're going to end up knocking more 'Mon over," he frets.

Kyria runs from stall to stall, she wasn't slowing down any time soon, "but Virgil, look at all the cool things! We don't have very long before the ceremony and i wanna see as much as I can!" She didn't even stop moving when saying that. Kyria lost where she was going long ago, and really didn't pay attention to where she was heading now, right towards a crowd of people around the inn. She charges through them and finds herself moving right at an eevee with a painted tail on the other end.

Lewis's tail was twitching with irritation. Screw it, this mob isn't going anywhere, I'll just go look for neat stuff at the fair, maybe see what Mom's up to. The young adult turned to blow that Popsicle stand, only to find some weird yellow pokemon with giant steel claptraps hanging off its head coming right for him. by the looks of it the thing had clearly lost control and wasn't planning on stopping. Naturally, the Eevee would've simply sidestepped at the last second, but the pokemon behind him was a little Pichu that was not prepared to take a hit like that. So with a gulp, Lewis the Eevee steeled his resolve, planted his paws, and lowered his center of gravity, preparing to throw his weight against the oncoming ballistic Pokemissile. The two collided, the unstoppable force pushed back slightly, and the immovable eevee seeing stars.
"Wow, I hit you so hard there are three of you now!" There was exactly one Kyria

Virgil struggles to hop along after the exuberant Mawile. He notices the Eevee in her path and squeals, "Wait, look out!" But he's just too late to stop the mad-dashing Mawile. He winces as the two collide. Bounding over, he worries over the two of them. Well the Eevee at least, Kyria had a hard head. "Are you two ok? I told you to watch where you were going Mawile. Here let me help you Eevee." He tries to brush the worst of the dust off the two of them as he helps them get back up. "W-weren't you at the Guild house earlier?" Virgil isn't quite sure, he thought he'd seen the Eevee before but they hadn't been in Guild House very long.

Lewis shook off his mild concussion like so much sleep " Wha-oh. Oh Yeah! I'm totally an explorer. Anyway, Nice to meet you. So, which guildhouse are you guys from. You're adventurers too right?" 4hpJnaC43-18 3-18

Kyria groans, shaking her head, its a good thing they were in a more open space as her jaw swings as well. "Sorry about that, you have pretty good form!" She extends a hand for the eevee, "Kinda, but not really, we just got here earlier. I'm Kyria" She never cared for formalities, that wouldn't change now either.

Eevee was caught off guard. Not only did this for realsies explorer compliment his skills, but she was so impressed she regarded him informally mere seconds after meeting him. The guy was beaming, an anime-esque rosy red radiated from his cheeks. Then he realized how creepy that probably looked from a near stranger, so he willed himself to calm down
"So how about Mister Simisear coming to town, eh? Can't wait to hear what he has to say. I bet it'll be inspired!"

He doesn't seem like much of Explorer but I guess I don't either. Well at least they found a new Guildmate that could tolerate Kyria's rashness too. "We just joined today," Virgil chimes in. They were still novices really. At the mention of Simisear, Virgil asks, "Are they the speaker that the Guildmaster mentioned?

"Who's simisear? The person having the speech?" She headtilts, she didn't really pay attention to celebrities. Her jaws sway from side to side now that she's calmed down, glancing about. She knew not the lecture she was about to get

Lewis blinked for a moment. There was no way these guys were for real, was there? "You haven't heard of the most famous explorer of this generation?! How can you ca~" Lewis stopped himself short, and lowered his voice to the faintest whisper he could manage.
"Okay, look, Simisear is a famous explorer, with books upon books of his exploits, but none of his adventures have any corroborating sources. Now, this is just a theory, but I think that the guild lets his probable lies to keep what little public favor the guild still has. It's sad, but it needs to be done."

In the beginning, she had only wanted to stare in search of her missing grandfather but here eyes could only gaze in awe of the cheerful celebration she had found herself within. Staring from her perch atop of one of the tents, the bustling thoroughfare dazzled her eyes as the animated voices of a hundred different pokemon mingled upon her ears, her goal of finding her grandfather and the guild hall lost amongst the crowd. Perhaps her Grandfather wouldn't mind if she stayed within the Plaza a minute or two? The speech wasn't for another half-hour after all and there was so many tents and features she wanted to visit! Also, if Sandy Bay was to be her new home, she should at the very least get to know parts of the town, right? And being an explorer was about exploring everything, right? So, Franzeska wasn't going against any specific order by doing so. It wasn't completely imperative of her to go to the Guild Hall immediately, after all. With her reasoning made, the young Joltik happily spewed her thread of silk to the nearest tent beside her own and swung towards her first 'exploration'.

Kyria, Lewis & Virgil
Every stall seems to sell a marginally different sort of trinket. As Kyria wanders through, leaving Pokemon in her wake ranging from 'upset' to 'annoyed' as her wayward jaws smack them, she sees everything from berries to strange beaded bracelets. Almost all of it within her price range. Apparently the stalls are tailored to tourists without much money - or possibly tailored to encourage people to buy lots of little things.
As she is momentarily waylaid by Lewis, the nearest stall-owner (an Espurr selling the aforementioned bracelets) takes advantage to call over to the three of you. "Would any of you fine young Pokemon care to purchase a Nightmare-catcher? Guaranteed to keep your dreams peaceful!" His sales pitch is only mildly hindered by the snort of disapproval from his neighbour, a Houndour who appears to be selling pieces of string in small bottles.
Melanie
Further away from the centre of the town, the Cubone Melanie is talking to scoffs somewhat. "Yeah, the great Simisear!" he drawls sardonically. "Who wouldn't want to hear one of his oh-so-famous tales? Morning to you too," he adds after a moment, less sarcastically.
Franzeska
As you land on a tent, you hear an "Oi, gerrof!" from the Miltank that owns it, though he makes no move to dislodge you, grumbling to herself as she continues stacking boxes. From your position, though, you can see over most of the crowd that has formed around the inn to where a Simisear is the centre of attention. He seems to currently be talking to a small Azurill. "Tell me, little child, why on earth would I -" He pauses, looks around, and clears his throat. "Ahem. That is to say, I will of course venture into this local dungeon of yours to look for your toy. And may I remind you all that Mystery Dungeons are dangerous places. If you're not a famous explorer like me, the Great Simisear, of course!" he adds with a chortle, seeming to get into his stride somewhat in the latter parts. You can almost hear the capitals.

Kyria glances over at the espurr then sends a scowling look at the houndour who gives its disapproval, her jaws would follow suit, looking menacing. She bounds over to the espurr, her face turning into a friendly grin, her jaws again follow suit, "sure i'll buy one, how much are they?" she reaches into her bag for the poke, something about the espurr calmed her, it seemed nice and she definitely didn't want bad dreams! Kyria's smile could brighten anyone's day. Intimidate ability to make the houndour back off Totally not a reference to my other PBP character being an espurr with gentle vibe. tooooooooottaly not.
Charm to cheer up the espurr j2oUUHZT3d6 3d6

"Well surely some of the tales must be true?" Virgil asks the Eevee, while he thinks the matter over. "I guess anything is possible with how the Guild Chapters have been shutting down," he says a little dejectedly. Oh right! Shopping. He gives the Eevee a nod ans says cheerfully, "Well I think we have some shopping to do. You're welcome to join us though."
He then turns to inspect the Espurr's bracelets. He didn't have trouble with nightmares usually, Virgil was a heaving sleeper. He could still help Kyria pick one out. Looking the stall over, he eventually points to one with more red beads than the rest, "That one would look the best for you. Probably."

Melanie rolls her own eyes. "So young, yet so cynical. How sad." Cubone are pretty good at sarcasm, apparently. She lowers her voice a little more. "Between you and me, I wouldn't mind a chance to put a better face on the Guild than him. But at least he pretends not to be just sitting around. More than I can say for the rest of the continent."
She sighs a bit wistfully, rubbing the back of her neck. The motion rattles the beads on her necklace lightly. "Way I've heard it, the roof collapsing was the most exciting thing to happen to the Guild here in a year. And this is one of the branches doing well. 'Course, I'm not a native, I suppose I wouldn't know. But it's worse up in the mountains."

The Eevee simply gave a shrug. He wasn't in the most lucrative field, nor was he in the mood to beg his mother for some pocket money. Still, he was bored, and it's not like there was anything else to do.
"I don't think I'll be buying anything, but I guess I could tag along. Not like there's anything else to do."
