Jesse looks over the recipe by concept and seems to mull it over. "This is fairly cheap to make... Comfort food, haven't seen too many looking for this sort of thing. We can take a few minutes after dinner and whip this up with stuff we have. Maybe make it better. Could be a fun experiment."
The instructor chewed on the other idea. "Stir frying is easy, the noodles have a particular texture. Might take a little trial and error, but we'll get it. I like to learn too, Thel.". She winks.

The cooking proceeds apace, with Thel being introduced to something called 'tofu'. On its own the texture is a little odd, and it is mostly flavorless. Jazz explains it is made with beans, and is a vegetarian substitute for meat.
The stew itself, once finished, seems to be mostly tubers, and more fibrous green that soften when heated, and lend a pleasant crunch.
When the bread is finished, it is a matter of removing the top of each bowl, scooping the warm bread free to eat then or offer on the side as a dip, and filling the crust with stew. The room is full of heady aromas and much bread is had by all.
"I'd call our meal a success!". Jazz cheers as she wheels another cart out to the dining room.

The warmth and the smells, it really rejuvenates him. This is all new, every taste a discovery. Doesn't hurt that it's really warm, he can almost forget that it's cold and raining outside.
"It seems that way!" Thel says, enthusiastically. "It's been great working with you through this. Definitely been learning a lot. And it's all so simple... just need a place with an actual kitchen." He laughs. "But, that's a thought for the future."

"Hey if all your meals come out this good, Mom can always use practiced cooks. Recommendation goes a long way in this business even if you aren't classically trained. Can't wait to try one of these myself, but I am already pretty full of bread.". Jazz giggled as she parked her cart in the lineup with the others.
There is curiousity and confusion about the meal. Bread is an extremely uncommon thing in the diet of the rich. After a few try it, word gets out it is actually quite good most of the room falls to content silence. The cold and wet appreciate it the most.

"I'll keep the offer in mind, though, thanks!" he says. "Have no idea what I want to do yet exactly, so... I'll definitely remember that."
He's glad that the meal seems to go over well. It's like Jesse says, there's a joy in making food, and seeing others eat well.

With their task done and delivered, the culinary team settles in for their meal and some light conversation. "Well Jazz, Thel, it wasn't the fanciest choice but it was probably the most appropriate. Our guests appreciate the food even if it doesn't line up with their sensibilities. I'd call it a pass! Round of applause before we tuck in?"
There was some assorted clapping for the pair, then quiet as the room savored their hard work.

Thel flushes at the praise. "I'd say that sensibilities don't matter too much after being out in the rain," he laughs. "I look forwards to whatever we do tomorrow."
But first, food. He wonders if there might be enough left over that he'll be able to run some over to Patience...

Being that the cooking has been well beyond the needs of the school, there end up being plenty of leftovers. The conversation about food designed around environmental wants instead of sensibilities carries on in earnest between the students and Jesse. As Thel goes to excuse himself, Jazz steps into pace beside him.
"Taking some to Jasmine? Or uh... You having seconds? Not judging, just after all the bread we had it seems like a lot."

Thel shakes his head. "No, I've got a friend who's staying in town for a bit that I usually cook for. Jasmine asked me to check up on the lighthouse, so between that and everything else tonight, I don't really have much time. So I'm just going to quickly run this over to her, so that she can eat at a reasonable time. Since I had to leave early in the day to check on the lighthouse, too, it means that she wouldn't be eating for over half the day." He shakes his head again. "I very much don't want that to happen."

"Well here, don't want to get the bread soaked, and your hands are full.". Jazz pops open an umbrella as you reach the doors and holds it over the pair of you as you make for the gym. Once inside again, Thel finds Patience relaxing in the lobby, as it is warmer then downstairs and the gym is closed anyway. She looks comfortable at least, idly petting Serenity and watching the rain out the doors.

"Oh, thank you," Thel says. "You don't have to do that!" He is thankful for it as they walk, though, keeping the rain off them and the food.
He greets Patience once they get to the Gym. "Hi there, Patience. Brought you some food before I have to head back. Should hopefully still be warm enough. Hope your day has at least been warm and dry?"
"Oh, I should make introductions. Patience, this is Jazz, she's my partner for the cooking we're doing at the school. And Jazz, this is my friend Patience. And on her lap's my other friend, Serenity."

"Oh, she's super cute! The Ninetails is nice too!". Jazz teases as she shakes out her umbrella and Thel presents the meal. Patience stares, not at all sure how to take it. "Ah, I get it, she is shy, that's fine though, I don't mind talking a little more. You said you had to head up to the lighthouse for a little while? Been curious what all you get up to over here."

I was staying at the Center that night, and had run into Patience, who found herself in town. The Center... isn't necessarily a great long-term option, so Jasmine offered to let us stay here." He shrugs. "It's not the comfiest, but it's quiet and there's a lot of space and Pokémon around, so, it works."
"The plan was going to be help out around here, but, uh... the rain kinda squashed that plan." He laughs. "Since the Gym's closed. So, helping with the lighthouse is what it ended up being. Can't just coast off the generosity of others."

"Keep you company on your chores? I got nothing better to do tonight, and tomorrow we have most of he day off with the whole battle lab being cancelled."

"You guys are roughing it some hard though compared to us at the school.". Jazz plants her hands on her hips. Giving up quilts and memory foam mattresses for a few knits and a stone floor? The center's gotta be better then that. I don't mind hard living sometimes, but that's pushing it."
"This is really good Thel.". Patience says in a soft voice, a pleased expression on her face but she won't look up from the meal, her cheeks warm. "Nice and salty..."
