Finally at the shop with the poles and the things to go on the poles. Terra had picked up each one, testing how they felt in her hands. Once the best feeling and looking one was in her hands, she gave a few test motions like she had seen from the shore. Not actually casting though.
At the comments about not using a pole and first times, she looks at the store owner and nods. "Yes. I wanted to do the job that was advertised, and I need one of these to do that," Terra states straight forward while pointing at the rod in her hand.

After a brief tutorial on casting and reeling, and the requisite upsell on bait and lures, Terra and Muku are well on their way. They find a pair of scruffy looking men in waterproof coveralls hauling traps, tackle, and gear aboard. This seems to be the boat the job was advertised for, 'The Tailwind', but the men seem to pay the girls no mind as they approach.

The short lesson is appreciated before handing over the money for just the rod that she had picked out. While Muku was generous, she still had some stuffs that she was sure would work for tempting bites on the hook. Pole settled over her shoulder as she carried the fancy tool curious and somewhat excited to try it out.
At the arrival of the dock where the boat was being loaded, there is a pause as she gives the water a slight disapproving look. Then a short moment to regain herself she walks up to the men who hadn't given them notice. "Hey. This is the boat that had the job posted, right?" Terra asks them in a tone that demanded attention. It had to be, had the same name on the boat. That makes sense.

Muku hangs back a little bit, keeping an eye on things and generally more nervous about this entire endeavor than she thought she would be. It was just a boat, right? A boat doing boat things. Which was... Kidnapping? No. That wasn't right. No, that was EXACTLY right. Only like, this was for fish. Fishnapping. From the ocean. This was something that other birds also did.
So why. Why was she so nervous?

"Tis, but I weren't looking to pay no scrawny girlies ain't never touched a rod before." The first commented, spitting overboard. "Fiberglass rod's pristine." He sniffed without so much as looking up, having already verbally dismissed the pair.

Muku stares at him with genuine confusion. This was the right boat. These clearly were the right people. Her head cocks to the side as she called out to him, "You requested help didn't you? Why do you put out ads if you don't want people to help you? Are you stupid?"
Moving to step aboard the vessel, Muku handles herself with a self-assurance matching the salty sea dogs scowl. Her face is flagged with irritation, but she's determined not to let this upstart sailor man get them down. "I'm strong, she's stronger. If a fish bites, we'll pull it in. Terra's wrestled a whale and we've both been attacked by a shark thing, so it's fine. That's really all there is to it."

"What's being a girl got to do with anything?" Terra demands with a raised eyebrow, tone souring some. Before glancing at her rod and swinging it forward some since it was pointed out. "Yeah, its new, so what?" she adds. She isn't discouraged, after all, female Larvitar can be just as nasty as males when fighting for the best rocks or for territory. So that didn't make sense to her. "Or are you just stupid to not hire help when its in front of you?" Terra asks flat out with a cold hard stare with those red eyes at the fisherman. The girl stepping up to the boat and waiting for a reaction first. Intimidate while calling the fisher an idiot: 16

"Oh sure ya go hiking and maybe hit the gym and you think you can haul traps fer ten hours, I bet!" One of them bites back but the other one swats his middle and gives Terra a sideways glance, a look of hesitation about him. "Friendly wager then, girlies. You catch what you can with yer fancy rod and those muscles of yours. If it outweighs our total, you can keep your catch and we'll pay you. You lose, and we keep what you reeled in."

Muku leans on the boat with a nonplussed expression. "Listen, if we were looking to go catch a fish, we'd just go do that. We don't need you for that. Money is all we really care about, and maybe the joy of stealing something from it's natural habitat to eat it. Natural joys. The good kind. So. You're paying us either way whether you like it or not. People who don't pay? They get to meet my Talon."Narrowing her eyes, she shoots them a glare. A meaningful glare. A threatening, terrible glare. But her expression softens slightly as she adds, " But I do like the competition. If we win, we keep one we like. If YOU win, you still have your pride intact because you didn't lose to two girls? Honestly not sure what your hang-up is there. It's pathetic that you feel threatened by us, but you know? That's fine. You get to keep your pride if that's what matters to you."Also rolling intimidate, to INTIMIDATE.

Result on this side is a 15. Forgot to add bonus onto the roll. Tragic. 5d6

She handled rocks before, and both her and Muku had broke rocks. Traps couldn't be that much more trouble, right? There's a look of some satisfaction at getting one of the fishermen to react to her previous expression. Especially when Muku adds in her own logic. Smart bird for certain.
"I can agree with those terms," Terra states with a nod to the other beside her. While they wait for the other two to respond, she pulls a toothpick from her pocket and sticks it into her mouth.

"Great. The Pier is at the south end of Cianwood. Good luck." The men wave them off and return to their business of preparing to cast off. It is immediately clear they have no intention of having the girls along in either regard, but the wager has been made.

"Come on Terra. Let's go snatch some fish. I didn't care much before, but I care now." Muku snaps, turning on a heel and moving towards the piers. Her hands float beside her, arms outspread in a territorial splay as she walks down the pier. "Stupid sailors, stupid fools. I hate them. I don't think I even want their money now, but I do want them to suffer. Maybe we can find the big guy who said 'Broooo' a lot, and ask him to beat them up at sea."
She pulls her fingers through her hair come in frustration. "We still need to decide what to do about them too, don't we? I like Chuck, but this feels like something that we need to settle ourselves."

The information of where the pier was made Terra furrow her brows some in distaste at this not so subtle brush off of having their company. "That's fine, boat looks small anyway," Terra states while she turns away and joins Muku's side. Just as much frustration in the strong steps she takes away from the boat.
"If this weren't new, and if I didn't care if I broke it, I'd give them a taste of it," Terra comments holding the rod in front of them while they make their way towards the southern side of the town. At least the two of them were fast on their feet. The mention of Aqua makes her frown some.
"You aren't wrong, we can't just stay here and wait for Chuck to do something. He's strong, but also still got pretty hurt," Terra replies with a sigh while looking upwards.

"And that's with sea-horse creatures' help. I mean, we 'beat' it, but I kinda got the idea that it was a bit stronger than it was letting on. And that's not counting it's partners, green deer, brown bull, and cobalt horse..."
Muku's feet keep moving, closer to the ocean as she lets her hands fall to her side to catch the sea breeze. "I don't hate them. I mean, like for the whole grabbing you and doing the whole whale-ship thing. It was scary at the time, but I don't think they ever intended to hurt us."

"I mean I can certainly hate that they had a whale put me in its mouth. And stole me from where we were." There's a bitterness in her tone at that memory. But gives a slight nod.
"They did give me a lot of good food, even better than what you got to have when you got there," she comments. "He said that he didn't want the ones they're fighting get me. Or, was it can't?" she thinks some while kicking some of the sand her mind now shifted from the fishermen that had got her heated.

The girls reach the pier as they carry on their conversation, Terra moving into position with bait/lure and rod in hand.
(For each half hour you intend to fish, your opponents returning at dusk, you may roll three bait checks. On a success you hook a Pokemon. You may choose to keep it, or mooch it, using it as a bait for a larger catch. Catches you choose to keep will have to be fought and subdued. Being hooked in the face is unpleasant and they start with a disposition of hostile. Dusk is in 6 hours.)

Having reached their destination, Muku tears off her feet prisons and hangs her feet over the edge of the pier. "Yeah. They aren't working together; that's for certain. I'm pretty sure they hate Team Magma as much as I do."
A soft sea breeze blows in, chilling her and causing to her to shiver. "I don't know about you, or where they kept you, but I can still remember the room they kept us. Cold, dark. Hard and metal, nothing to perch on, and not much to eat besides. They kept doing the shocking things and if it wasn't the shocking things, it was the tests, and you could never figure out what they wanted because they never made sense and... And it was awful."
"At least if you're caught in the wild, it's over. She continues morbidly. "An owl catches you, and probably eats you. There's no suffering involved there. Owl just does what owl does. Something dies for something else to eat. But I don't understand, and I will never understand what they did to us or why. Even if I could, I don't think I would want to..."

Stepping onto the pier, there's a moment giving the wood beneath her feet a few experimental taps with the toe of her shoes. "Its surprising that this feels this sturdy..." she mutters walking out a fair bit and beginning to bait the hook as she had been shown. Silence stretches between the two as Muku recalls the prison she was kept in. A grimace slowly forming on Terra's features. "I... I try not to think about that place," she states honestly. "No earth beneath you. Just metal, and the hard flooring. Was it... concrete?" the last bit muttered before shaking her head. "I tried to eat through the bars. But was hit for that or got the water each time," scowling at the memory of the pain. "I won't forgive them for what they did. But I won't let what happen keep me from getting stronger," she tells Muku with certainty. "We were left behind when those explosions and fighting happened first. How long? I couldn't tell you." The girl then raises the rod in hands and casts out the line into the sea. Bait Rolls for first half hour: 3ttJ__VA1d20 1d20 1d20 1d20·1d20·1d20

Silence reigns for a moment as Muku lets those thoughts fly through the air, her eyes fixating on the bobber floating out there in the ocean spray as it is dragged out to sea. She lets herself remember. The fear, the panic, the confusion and pain all contained in that explosion of light that heralded this impossible mode of existence. She was an impossibility rooted in this twisted reality.
She was using that existence to fish.
The young girl sits up straight, straining her gaze across the waves. There was something 'right' about that. Dropping their shared experience for the time being, she pointed out over the waves, saying, "Try casting it out to that shoal there, I think I see something hiding out in the waters over that way."
"Humans used to fish all the time near the nest. The fishers were all kind of chubby and looked alike though. It was weird now that I think about it, but I couldn't really think about anything then, you know? If I was thinking, it was mostly more instinctual things like, peck this or peck that. Beat up a Pidgey. The Staravia were the only birds that needed to think, so I let them tell me what to do."
Her mouth twists into a smirk. "I- We do need to get stronger. Once we're done fishing for today, we should let Chuck know that we're going to go follow our Pokemon to that weird spot they keep wanting to go to. Then, when we get back, we should challenge him. Maybe not even a full challenge, cause' we both have Team Aqua to worry about. Just a test. Something to let us know that, yeah, we're ready. Let's go meet them. Fight them. And, and whatever we have do, we should do it. Whether we have to kick them off the island or ask them to help us or I don't know. Maybe we'll all learn to like fish and we'll solve our problem that way."

Initially Terra pulls in a Magikarp from the little shoal Muku pointed out. Casting it back, there is a period of waiting while Muku considered the universe. Then the line goes powerfully taut. Hauling with all of her strength, Terra watches as an impressive beast surfaced.
A shock of red hair with black roots hair bound up in pearls frame fox like features. A grayish hide leads to two flippered forelegs and the creature's lower body is scaled in midnight blue with sharp red protrusions from it. The tail ends in a heart-shaped tuft. As it throws the hook, sharp teeth glisten in the sun. It towers over the largest things Terra has seen, ad to Muku is comparable to the rock snake.
Initiatives please.
