"I may have used a blade or two in my time, yes," the man says, grinning.
"Yeah, but a giant blade ended up being too subtle for you," a scaled woman with sharp teeth says, grinning.
"Look, it's fun and all, but it's not visceral enough," Stormbringer complains. "If I'm not using my claws, then I need some real weight behind it." He turns back to Bea. "Anyways, who is calling upon my mighty prowess?" He grins.
"Mighty hubris, maybe," the woman says, shaking her head and chuckling. "Don't feed his ego more."

"I've never so much as held a sword before this morning, and a special one was entrusted to me, could you teach me... how to hold it right? And maybe how to pull it out? It's... really unwieldy and I have no idea what I'm doing." She admitted in a very small, embarrassed voice.

"Eh, sure, why not," he laughs. "I can always get drunk another time. Worst case scenario, we get some stories out of it. What's your name, o squire?" He grins, really seeming to get into this.
"Ugh, thanks for this," the woman says in an exasperated, though teasing, tone of voice. "Now we're going to hear about this for ages, about how he was the important one sought out and all that."

"I'm Beatrice Vespa Edward Melanie LaBrasta Fallarbor Magnezone Lorekeeper, pleased to meet you brave sir knight." She laughed at his friend's teasing. "You can always push back that I wasn't terribly particular." She grinned. "Also though, what is 'drunk' in this context? Wouldn't you have just finished drinking and your thirst slaked?"

He stares at her incredulously. "Aw, man, your parents must've been no fun. I'll bring you back here afterwards, and you can find out firsthand. All warm and good feeling. Great way to make sure that everyone shares their stories."
"Sometimes we wish he wouldn't."
"That's just 'cause you don't have any, Marian. All down at the bottom of the ocean. Swim swim swim," he winks.
"I'll shove you to the bottom of the ocean if you don't shut up..."
Stormbringer laughs again. "Okay, let's stop bothering her, and we can see if I can teach you how to not cut a cash in your foot. Sound good?"

She blinked uncertainly at the two. Death threats were idle banter here? This 'drunk' sounded nice too, but given the source she was concerned. "That sounds great... even just some basic motions and... how I'm supposed to pull a sword... four feet long from my back with three and some foot arms..." She smiled at Rainbow on the way by. "Found a gentleman to teach me."

"Oh, that's good!" Rainbow says, enthusiastically. "Uh, where to?"
"We can just go on the yonder hills," Stormbringer says, gesturing. "Close enough that there's people around if any trouble rears its ugly head. Far enough they can't hear us yelling." He grins.
"So, you've never really held a sword before? What's the reason for wanting to do that over something safe, like a bow? Or something meaty, like an axe?" he asks. "And, also, first things first - you don't wear it from your back. As you've learned, that's an exercise of frustration to draw at best, even if it's nicer while travelling. No, you want it at your side."

"My side? Won't that be harder? Or have it dragging on the ground?" Beatrice removed the scabbard from her shoulders, and slid the blade free of it. "And... I want to learn how to use this weapon, and it -must- be this weapon, because of what it is made out of..."

"No, it means you don't need to awkwardly bend your arm to get it out. You can pull it across your body, getting more than a full arm's length of distance," he explains. "Oh, that is a beaut. Looks like a lot of time and care went into that. As well as a damn lot of Aetherstone, geez. Seems like a waste to put it in a sword of all things. Rather than, like, using it as power, or boosting people up in tight spots." He shrugs. "Ah, well, not my sword. Okay, now, try holding your sword out like this..." He makes a stance, and holds out his claw-hands like he's holding an invisible sword.

"Alright..." She looks at how he holds his legs, back, shoulders, and feet, slowly adjusting her stance to meat his, brow furrowed in intense concentration. It was -a lot- heavier when she was holding it. "Okay... so... now what? ... Do I... just drop it on things?"

Even as she asks the question, holding the sword, she almost gets an idea of how to stand, and what to do. Almost unconsciously, she begins to swing it a little bit in front of her.
"No, you swing it... like that, really," the 'knight' laughs. "Except with more follow-through. Now, come on, Squire Beatrice, are you just pulling my leg here? Because that's an excellent stance there, I would swear that you'd have had at least a little training before."

"I'm just copying your stance... I don't have to brace quite like this to use my tail, but I guess it is in some ways similar." She moved Solenoid into view, and considered it for a moment. She gave the large blade a swing to one side, overbalanced off of one foot and would have fallen over if she hadn't taken to floating. "Whoajeez..." It was a little more graceful then a messy fall would've been, and as she righted herself, she moved to return to her beginning stance. "I... should haul backwards on it if I miss? So it doesn't unbalance me?"

Stormbringer gently tries to correct her mistakes, and give her some tips, and Bea feels like, by the end of it, she's getting the hang of it. Faster than she would have thought possible. Well, for the basics, at least. As soon as they try anything a little more complex, it's just an abject failure.
"Well, that's a good start I'd say," the man says, nodding. "Now, let's head back, we can share a drink and all. You can join in the regaling of stories!" He grins at both Bea and Rainbow, who's been just sitting on a hill, watching.

"Oh... uh... sure?" Bee grins sheepishly. "I guess I owe you something for your trouble, it may as well be a story. Do you want to try this 'drink' too Rainbow? Can't hurt to make a few more friends, right?" Bee already seemed pretty sold on the idea, and was glad she could at least hold the relic Alyssa had given her without falling over.

"Yeah, sure," Rainbow says. "I'll just... follow your lead, really," she says, yawning. "Sun's starting to go down, so, probably don't want to be out too late, though. Been a long day."
"Got a favorite berry flavour?"

"...Are you going to be upset if I tell you I've never had a berry either?" Beatrice side-eyes Stormbringer. "I've always been fond of the smell of Sitrus, and acids conduct really well... so... maybe that?" She replies after considering the question.

He sighs theatrically. "Not upset, just disappointed. C'mon, kid, let's get you to live a little."
"Ah, the bigheaded warrior returns," Marian says, laughing. There's a lot less people in the place now, but still a fairly sizable chunk. Enough to keep up the atmosphere. "She didn't cut your arm off, or anything?"
"Nah, I'm too thick skinned for that," he chuckles. "Woulda just been a scratch. But she did well, for someone who's apparently never touched a sword before. Anyways, keep 'em company while I go bother Mallory about more drinks." He chuckles.
"So..." Marian says, looking the pair over, "looking to join the Sentinels? Or, I guess," she looks at Rainbow, "scouts maybe. You could probably do well as a Farsight, judging."
"That'd be my Dad's side," she says, quietly. "I'm not really much one for fighting, I'm just here to support Beatrice."
"Oh? Well, that's admirable. Always need someone to watch your back."

"Just wanting to make sure I can pull my weight going forward. Never a bad idea to know how to protect yourself and your friends better." She offered Rainbow a toothy grin. "Spent more time in libraries then I have anywhere else, but necessity is the mother of invention. Stormbringer is going to teach me about drinking? I have apparently not done it before, I don't know what is so special about berry juice, but he seems really excited."

Marian just raises an eyebrow, but then shrugs, laughing. "Well, you'll learn. We'll have a good time here."
"Alright," Stormbringer says, coming back carefully with an armful of mugs. "Sitrus for the squire, Leppa for her friend, a couple Enigma for me, aaaaand," he plops one in front of Marian, "Liechi for the person who has to put up with me the most."
"I'm trying to watch my intake, you jerk," Marian says, laughing as she mock-punches the Drapion in the arm.
"Ah, you know you love me," he winks, before turning to Bea. "Now, uh, if it's your first time, probably just want to sip at it to start."

Sniffing at the drink, there was the sitrus smell she would expect and a hint of something under the strong smell that burned her nostrils a little, but she did as instructed and took a sip. A smoothness followed by the acidity and a heady warmth slid down her throat and settled into her belly. "Oh..." She set the drink down and stared at it stunned. "I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that... It's nice." Taking another small drink from her mug, she spoke up. "So why did you two join the sentinels?"
