Benji curses as Yash suddenly attacks the geodude, getting too close to comfort to a bunch of wild pokémon. The rest of the trainers immediately get on board, taking position, and unleashing a variety of attacks and taunts onto the creatures. Benji shivers watching Jean-Marie apparently manipulation of shadows, but magic comes in many forms and the girl is on his side. He thinks. Focusing back on his pokémon, he notices Yash is the closest and most likely target for retaliation, so he immediately draws a sigil in the air and holds an orange bead tied to his hair. The bead is carved like a small yungoos' face, and it represents his connection to Yash. As soon as he finishes the incantation, a shimmering transparent field surrounds the bead and, consequently, his pokémon. Actions: Benji uses Sage on Yash, granting him DR 8 until the start of Benji's next turn.

Vess glares out at the rocks for a while, evaluating. When she has evaluated enough, she steps forwards leveling the glare as intimidatingly as possible, leering at the rocky bois and girls. "Try not to knock out both the small ones, I want to capture one of them." Vess shifts in front of Roggenrola 2, unleashing a Leer on both Roggies and Geodude one. Neat! 6CfITTnS1d20 On hit, defense of all three targets is lowered by 1 stage!
Assuming it hits, Vess will spend 1 AC as a swift action to activate Roughneck, lowering the Attack stages of her targets by 1! 1d20

As the battle begins, Yash rushes in, heading towards a straight collision with the nearest Geodude. However, it seems he couldn't build enough momentum to really hurt the rock type, and he bounces harmlessly off of the rocky skin of the Geodude. The frosty projectile Sapphire sents hurling at one of the other Geodude seems to have more of an effect, even as its sturdy hide takes most of the blow, it still seems to have felt the Ice Shard chip off some pebbles. Suddenly, a tinny voice echoes through the chamber. "Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. In rest, it is hard to distinguish from a normal rock. It has been known to attack people carelessly stepping on it." Orianne's Pokédex screen shows the average height and weight of Geodude, the height and weight of the targeted Geodude (the weight seems to be slightly above average), as well as the moves they ordinarily learn. Robin's initial words seem to have an effect on the Roggenrola, as it seems to calm down slightly, but it doesn't seem to be too fazed by her tricks, and it just keeps staring at her (as much as an eyeless entity can stare at least). Jean-Marie manages to conveniently stand in front of a lamp built into the wall as she goes in for the attack, and the shadow she casts falls directly over two of the Geodude. As she growls, her shadow seems to resonate with the sound, rattling the two rock types and chipping off some significant shards off stone of the skin of one of them. Benji's mystical protections shimmer in existence around Yash, it's subtle shine obvious in the somewhat dimly lit cavern, and just enough to draw the attention of the Geodude who Yash had bumped into, who had been distracted by the tag team of Jean-Marie and Cheri. Speaking of Cheri, the small bird waddles up to the Geodude in question, striking at it with her sharp beak, managing to get into a crevice that Jean-Marie had rattled loose, and chips off a chunk of rock, even as most of her blow is absorbed by the stony skin. Vess's glare seems to have a decent effect, as all three of her targets cower away from her slightly. This does not seem to stop the Geodude from retaliating however, and it rolls closer to Vess, quickly picking up speed and smashing into both her and the now slightly less little Rowan behind her. One of the other Geodudes seems to have a similar idea, and rolls in a straight line toward Cheri, crashing into, and over, the small bird, landing besides a feral looking Sapphire and grumpy Citadel. The final Geodude keeps focusing its attention on Yash, and slams bodily into him. Geodude 2 and 3 have taken 1 Injury each. Geodude 1 uses Rollout on Vess! AC4: YlN1R_HZ1d20, DB5: 1d8+19 Physical Rock Type damage. Geodude 1 uses Rollout on Rowan! AC4: 1d20, DB5: 1d8+19 Physical Rock Type damage. Geodude 2 uses Rollout on Cheri! AC4: 1d20, DB5: 1d8+20 Physical Rock Type damage. Geodude 3 uses Tackle on Yash! AC2: 1d20, DB4: 1d8+18 Physical Normal Type damage. On a hit, Yash is pushed back 2 meters. Citadel sees the Geodudes spin up and bash into his (begrudging allies) and decides that seems like a good idea. He extends his spikes out and begins spinning in place, gathering up rocks from the floor before spinning forward, attempting to smash into the Geodude that tackled Yash. The Geodude doesn't seem to be too bothered by Citadel impacting it, the rocks bouncing off harmlessly and the spikes not really impacting properly to do any decent damage. Even as the spiky ball is slamming into the Geodude, the Roggenrola in front of Vess, still looking somewhat shaken, slams its body into her. The other Roggenrola, meanwhile, is focused more on Robin, and moves a bit closer and kicks up the gravel and dirt on the cave ground, sending it in Robin's face and eyes. Roggenrola 1 uses Sand Attack on Robin! AC2: _2tRkIqA1d20-2. On a hit, Robin is Blinded until the end of her next turn. Roggenrola 2 uses Tackle on Vess! AC2: 1d20. DB4: 1d8+17 Physical Normal Type Damage. On a hit Vess is knocked back 2 meter.

Benji breathes in relief as Yash dodges the geodude's attack, but winces as Vess is hurt instead. He didn't expect the pokémon to attack the people, to be honest, and while pokémon are easily healed, humans aren't. Breaking his focus on the protective spell on Yash, he starts drawing a new sigil, only to remember he hasn't finished a bead for his companions to serve as conduits. With a curse he walks ahead, trying his best to keep the enemies at a distance before getting close enough to Vess. "Yash, keep them off us. Excuse me, Vess," he says, before briefly touching her back and immediately stepping back again. Between the two, an invisible thin thread of energy serves as a link for his defensive charm, the shimmering field now surrounding the girl. Meanwhile, Yash does his best to do what Benji asked, growling and weaving around as he tries his best to headbutt the geodude, but always keeping it close. Actions: Yash uses Tackle on G3. Tackle! Attack: eWgroGgY1d20 vs. AC 2 Damage: 2d6+1d10+19 EDIT; 2d6 + 1d10+19 Normal, Physical damage. If hit, Yash will push it 1 square to I8, then shift to J9.
Benji will use Sage on Vess, granting her DR 8. He moves to L13 (fluffing it as to L10 then L13 so he can touch Vess, which he doesn't mechanically need to) 1d20·2d6+1d10+19·2d6·1d10+19

Orianne takes a half step back from the scuffle developing near her, and glances at Sapphire, who is hissing in rage at the Geodude next to her. "Stay on task, Sapphire!" she calls out in a strict voice. The Meowth seems to calm down slightly, and once again draws in moisture from the area around it, freezing the water and sending the icicle at the rock type in front of it. Orianne uses Focused Training on Sapphire, giving her +1 Accuracy and a +2 bonus on SKill Checks. Sapphire uses Ice Shard on Geodude 2! AC2: j0AOP|1v1d20+2. Robin takes a few steps forward towards the Roggenrola who just missed him. "Hey, don't feel bad, that was the right move, definitely. Really felt the strength of that one, no need to feel bad."Without warning, he dashes around behind it and flicks it on the back. Cheri bats at the Geodude being harassed by Yash as it is pushed past her. Then, her trainer takes over the attack. The sunlight pouring in the mouth of the cave appears to dim slightly for a moment as Jean-Marie touches the wall of the cave, as if a thick raincloud obscured the sun for a few seconds. She brushes the tips of her fingers against the wall as she approaches the Geodude backed into the corner, and the shadows cast by the rocks near the entrance dance excitedly, shuddering and contorting before being wrenched from their owners and coalescing as a craggy mass of black energy around her left hand. Approaching the Rock Pokemon, she brings her fist down onto its skull without a moment's hesitation. Meanwhile, Cheri has refocused her efforts on one of the Roggenrola, maneuvering behind the one challenging Vess. She makes another peck at it, although is now a little less certain of her efficacy. Actions: Cheri is attacking Geodude 3 with the [Pack Hunt] ability, Jean-Marie is attacking with Geodude 3 with Faint Attack, and Cheri is attacking with Roggenrola 2 with Pluck.

Even as Cheri chips is in a quick strike, Yash manages to tackle the Geodude he's facing in the wall, the rock type leaving some small cracks in the wall face, the boulder low enough for Jean-Marie's strike to take it out, several cracks and broken off chips showing on its skin. Sapphire's attack strikes true, impacting hard on the second Geodude's skin, where it explodes in a shower of tiny ice crystals. The force of the frigid attack proves too much for the rock type to bear, and it too, falls down, knocked out. The Roggenrola Robin's interacting with doesn't seem to be too impressed by her attempts to make peace, and simple gives the young grifter another stare(?). Her attempt to confound it, however, seems more successful, and it moves it face back and forth, clearly disoriented. This situation isn't helped much by the sudden impact from a particularly large berry, and it's switching its dazed concentration between Robin and Rowan. Vess's attempts to blind an eyeless rock are unsurprisingly not too successful, and it simply stares back up at her, still a bit unsettled by her presence. The only remaining Geodude, still rolling around, banks off of a rock on the cave floor, jumps in the air and manages to reverse its direction while maintaining its momentum, slamming its rolling stone body directly into Vess's body once again. Geodude 2 & 3 have been KO'd Geodude 1 moves to M10. Geodude 1 uses Rollout on Vess! AC4: BPUwpeTy1d20, DB9: 2d10+21 Physical Rock Type damage 1d20·2d10+21

Vess takes the bash to the back, body rocking a bit, but taking it with little more than a pained grunt. That the best you got? Citadel, meanwhile, sees the geodude hitting is human and rolls around in fury, back and forth and back and forth and forward! Citadel's attack seems to barely hurt the Geodude, though it seems to throw it trajectory off ever so slightly, drawing the rock type's attention. Sapphire seemed proud of her knockout. She moved as if to claim her kill. Orianne snapped her fingers and called out in a stern voice. "The battle's not over! Keep your guard up!"
The cat growled softly, though it wasn't clear if she was growling at the Geodude still rolling around or her own trainer. Regardless, she obeyed the instructions and condensed more of the damp air into frigid icy shards to fling at the stone ball of an enemy.
Orianne uses Focused Training on Sapphire! (+1 accuracy and +2 skill checks)
Sapphire uses Ice Shard on Geodude 1.

Benji is glad to see their numbers being trimmed out by the group effort, but he winces as Vess takes a couple of blows. He could feel them through the link, but luckily they hadn't been as strong as he feared and the protective ward held. Still, he keeps his focus on defending the girl, quickly motioning towards his own pokémon for a wordless command. Yash understands the meaning, though, and immediately moves to the middle of the group since his last enemy had been defeated. His position is a little dicey, but it allows him to quickly pounce on the geodude attacking Vess while blocking the path of the roggenrolas. Actions: Yash will move to L9 (through K10 so he avoids AoO) and use Pursuit on Geodude 1.
Pursuit! Attack: J2IORmSf1d20 vs. AC 2 Damage: 1d8+17 Dark, Physical damage.

Seeing Rowan beginning to build up momentum, he glances up towards Vess, remembering her saying she wanted one of these ones if she could get one. He's briefly taken aback at the shimmering field enveloping her, but quickly shakes off his surprise before catching her eye and jerking his head towards the Roggenrola, silently asking, You want this one? However, he doesn't wait for a response - not that he'd likely get one, knowing Vess - before stepping back up to the Roggenrola and flicking it between where he presumes its eyes would be. "Hey," he says, his confident, confrontational smirk lasting just long enough to register before it shifts suddenly into a much more calm and respectful impression. "Nice move, there. You seem like a nice littly guy and I'm really sorry about this," he finishes sincerely as he looks up towards both Vess and Rowan, ready for either one to make good on his statement. 1d20·1d20
