"Yeah, probably not something I'd've chosen, but, eh... learn to use what life deals you. More problems for everyone if I tried to do something about it, and all for self-aggrandisement," she shrugs again. "What can you do, eh?"
"Been better. Pretty typical space fantasy schlock. Good premise, lousy execution, shoehorned in romance plot. You know the deal, I'm sure."
"But, this isn't book club. I'm sure you don't want to hear me ramble on about that stuff. You're here to fight." She smiles, and then tosses out a large top with multiple eyes blinking in sequence, and a strange... bird? Map

"I suppose not, I've done so much reading lately I think I'm tired of it anyway." Bee smiled, fishing two balls from her belt before releasing her partners. "Crassi, Limul, you're first string today, let's show Nova what adaptability can do!" (Crassi 8, Limul 5)

"Ah, that's a shame," Nova says. "Books take you away to magical places, would be terrible to lose it. But that's not why we're here. I need you to show me what you can do!""Okay, let's start things off with a little breathing room, eh, Rune?" she says, "And then blast the scorpion, Effigy. Gonna need to borrow a trick to get through that shell, though." The bird holds motionless in the air for a moment, not even flapping its wings, when glyphs appear in the air around it and the Claydol, whirling around in a protective barrier, followed by a second set as it seems to concentrate harder. As it does so, the Claydol spins a little, and a ball of purple light shoots from the bird to the top, before the latter begins to glow. It fires off a beam of purple swirls at Crassi, who seems to basically roll her eyes at the attack that... is surprisingly not futile. The exclamation the scorpion makes seems to be a mixture of surprise and pain. And a desire to make the offender pay. "It is as you say, eh?" Nova says, tossing her hair and winking. "Adaptability is a wonderful thing."
Sigilyph uses Reflect. Nova triggers Force of Will to let it use Light Screen. Sigilyph gains DR. Claydol uses Psychic Sponge to gain Miracle Eye. Claydol uses Miracle Eye. Crassi takes 39 damage from Psybeam. Claydol gains DR.

"You'll regret foreshadowing too early. Crassi, Pin Missile, Limul, Smack Down." Beatrice issues Iterative Evolution. A gulping noise from Crassi as she hunkers and raises her tail ferociously, launching a volley of spikes into the many-eyed top. Crassi gains 5 DR and a tick of hitpoints from Shell Bell. Crassi activates Black Sludge. Claydol takes 45 Bug Physical. Limul creates a hunk of stone and pelts the strange bird like creature with it, Sigilyph takes 37 Rock Physical and loses all Sky and Levitate speeds for 3 turns.

The psionic shields from the residual energy help to deflect the ranged blows some, but the Sigilyph falls from the sky... though both are still up. "No, funnily enough... I don't think that I will," Nova says, winking. "You may have clipped her wings, but Rune doesn't need to go anywhere."A glowing sphere makes its way from the top to the bird this time, and the grounded avian begins to glow with a brilliant light. An enormous beam shoots out of its eye, striking Limul, with even a glancing blow causing immense damage. His shell manages to save him from some of it, but it's still bad. The Claydol has a worse time of it, the rocks it summons missing Crassi completely. Oops. Sigilyph is hit by Smack Down. It's super effective! Claydol is hit by Pin Missile. It's super effective!
Sigilyph uses Psionic Sponge. Sigilyph uses Psychic Hyper Beam. Armaldo takes 64 52 damage and 2 injuries from Hyper Beam. Sigilyph gains DR. Claydol misses with Ancient Power.

"Limul's got an armor more ancient and powerful then many modern Pokemon can boast, you could even call it plot armor." Bee quipped as the psychic burst petered out and her Pokemon was still standing albeit not in the best health. "Crassi, Aqua Tail, Limul switch targets, after an attack like that I've no doubt Rune will need time to recover, and we can't risk her pulling more power from her teammate like that." Crassi recovers 13 Hp from Black Sludge and lands Aqua Tail on Claydol for 48 Water Physical. Crassi's Temp Hp from Shell Bell refreshes (10 Points). Limul lands Bug Bite on Claydol for 41 Bug Physical and gains 5 DR plus its digestion buff if any.

"You have astute observations," Nova comments, as both of Bea's Pokémon begin to batter the Claydol, the barriers around it briefly absorbing the blows before shattering. It doesn't look like it's doing so hot. "But there are always... things that you cannot expect. Let's bring this to a close, Effigy" There's a glint in her eye. As the bird seems to regain its strength... the claydol spins, faster and faster, eyes glowing with energy... which it then releases. As the light clears, everyone has fallen... except for Crassi, who still stands, though battered. "...oops, minor miscalculation there," Nova admits, biting her lip. "I don't usually have to pull that out with Rune there."Claydol takes an injury from Aqua Tail, expending Reflect. Claydol is hit by Bug Bite, spending reflect.
Sigilyph is exhausted. Claydol uses Self-Destruct. Crassi takes 91 damage and 3 injuries. Limul takes 45 damage. Sigilyph takes 4 injuries and Faints. Limul… really isn't able to do anything with no targets on the field, besides reposition. Nova takes a moment to consider, before releasing a floating starfish and a brown floating humanoid onto the field.

"Effigy certainly had stage presence, good showing Limul, take a rest Crassi." Withdrawing the Drapion, she considered the ball briefly before trading it for another at her belt. She'd expected her strongest girl to last a little longer, but Nova certainly wasn't playing around with the tricks she was pulling out. "Nomus you're up, Limul a burst of speed into a pincer attack! Bug Bite and First Impression!"
(Beatrice binds Iterative Evolution onto Nomus. Limul activates Custap Berry to make Bug Bite priority, First Impression is also priority. Each gains 5 DR, Baheeyem takes 38 and 48 Bug Physical)

The alien hominid takes a vicious assault... but remains standing at the end of it. A burst of fire wells up within it, before unleashing itself on the surrounding bugs. Nomus takes it and remains standing, but it's finally enough to take down Limul. The starfish spins around, jetting across the sky before it sends a coruscating beam across Nomus. Beheeyem it hit by Bug Bite. It's super effective! Beheeyem takes 2 injuries from First Impression. It's super effective!
Staryu delays. Nomus takes 21 damage from Hidden Power. Limul takes 16 damage and an injury from Hidden Power and Faints. Nomus loses 30 Hit Points from Psywave.

"My turn to introduce a few twists." Bee grins wide as Nomus activates Spite in reaction to Psywave, sweats vigorously and disappears into his Pokeball, bringing out Bylii in his place. Beatrice releases Baied alongside her, swapping out the downed Limul. "Alright Baied, we're going to juice Bylii, Bylii you're on the offensive for now." Beatrice rebinds Iterative Evolution on her new lineup after Emergency Exit triggers. Bylii uses Silver Wind on Baheeyem for 42 Bug Special, gaining 5 DR at Initiative 30. Baied acts on 5.

The humanoid faints, damage too much, while the star fires more stars at Bylli. The faerie takes some hits, but remains up, and the pair of her and Baeid manage to avoid when it rushes into the middle of them and spins around like a buzzsaw. Beheeyem Faints.
Bylli takes 29 damage from PsySwift. Starmie triggers Starswirl… and then misses with Rapid Spin.

Scooting up beside Bylii as he was instructed, Baied bristles and gives a long wriggle, body wreathing in power as it ploughs into the poor Starmie, a little bleed of the energy boosting Bylii on the side. (Starmie takes 38 Electric Physical and is Paralyzed. Baied uses Battery to boost Bylii's next special attack.)

The shock seems to stiffen the star some, slowing it down. But it's certainly not out yet. And on the battlefield, another many-pointed celestial object joins it. This star is a little bit closer to home, though. Starmie is Paralyzed by Spark. It's Super Effective!

Bylii unleashes a powerful shockwave of sound across the starfish's body before disengaging (F8) and looking proud of herself. (Starmie takes 53 Bug Special after Battery,Bylii gains 5 DR). "Do you read much science fiction or science fantasy? Your Pokemon kind of give that impression."

"I read all sorts," Nova says, shrugging. "But I grew up in Mossdeep. Space is a common theme there. But here? I'm much more unique for it." She winks, tossing her hair back. The star shudders from the blow, but the runic markings from the Sigilyph cushion it some. It swivels to the side, before it begins to regrow and looks healthier again. The sun begins to spin, and rocks appear in the sky, falling towards the pair of bugs... but none even come close. Starmie takes an injury from Silver Wind. Starmie passes paralysis. Starmie Disengages and uses Recover. Solrock misses with Rock Slide.

"Alright Baied, give Bylii what spare energy you've got left and then Charge yourself. Keep on top of that Starmie, we can't let it get anywhere. Bylii, make some distance so the little sun has to make decisions." Baied sends another jolt of power Bylii' way (2nd use of Battery), and uses Charge, increasing SpDef +1 and doubling the base damage of his next Electric Move. Bylii uses Silver Wind for 53 Special on Solrock, +1 to all CS, and 5 DR.

The Solrock is hit, but the last of the runic wards stop it from taking too much damage. The Starmie's able to move, and it borrows power from the Solrock, before both of them charge at their opponents, wreathed in Psychic fire. Some of it eats away at the starfish, but the sun-rock seems unharmed. Solrock is hit by Silver Wind, expends Light Screen.
Starmie passes Paralysis, and uses Psychic Sponge. Charjabug takes 29 damage from Psy Blitz. Starmie takes recoil, gains DR. Ribombee takes 51 damage and 2 injuries from Psy Blitz. Solrock gains DR.

"Fallarbor attached a lot of things to mysticism, not as much as places like Mount Pyre did, but I definitely don't regret travelling and exploring. Books don't really do adventuring full justice. Baied, time to drop your charge, Bylii, recover what you can." The Charjabug wreathes itself in stored power and slams into the Starmie in turn, for 54 Electric Physical, Bylii falling back on giving the sun a gentle kiss in the middle of what might be its forehead? Hard to tell, 8 Vs. AC 2 for 47 Fairy Special, healing half.

The Starmie drops, which causes Nova to purse her lips, before releasing a moon-shaped counterpart to the Sun. The Solrock takes some damage from the energy drain, but it's not enough to keep it from releasing a psychic wave that fells Bylli. The Lunatone summons some crystals that rotate around it, before it shoots them at the Charjabug, injuring it. Starmie Faints.
Solrock takes an injury from Draining Kiss, Ribombee recovers 13 HP. Ribombee takes 34 damage, an injury, and Faints from Psychic. Charjabug takes 22 damage and an injury from Power Gem.

"Baied, try to finish off the sun, I'll have Nomus support you if needed." Beatrice released the towering Golisopod once more, after Baied lunged against and nibbled away at the floating rocky sun. (Bug Bite hits for 33 Bug Physical). Releasing Nomus once more, Beatrice gives him her usual instruction about Adaptability, and insists on a second First Impression, the towering isopod lunging in against the Solrock with a massive swipe of its claws for an additional 48 Bug Physical. Both Pokemon gain 5 DR.)
