"Well... hopefully in that case it's done, and there won't be another again. I'm... very happy not going extinct."
"I really don't know what options there are to store things. Except for the computer, I really just know of books and talking, and neither of those are very practical here. One takes up too much space, and the other not enough." She giggles a bit.

"Black box could do it... An electromagnetic shielded box that are well armored against impact, it will either need to physically write to a drive and be unpowered, or need an external power source, barring a battery equivalent that would be extreme and hard to get materials for. Solar power might work the best, but the panel getting destroyed ruins the option."
Tapping her foot restlessly, she chewed her lip. "In a vacuum free of moisture and air movement, books will last virtually forever provided the acid free paper, but the transcription would take weeks, if not months."

"Keep in mind, too," she says, "that we need to figure out how to keep it safe, and a bunch of books probably would be awkward to find that much space. It's a conundrum-"
"You want a box?" Yellow interrupts. "Like the case, I can get you a box. As long as I don't have to listen to this for days on end."

"..." Beatrice considered Yellow for a moment and couldn't help but laugh a little. Impractical solutions for practical problems, I like it. Alright Yellow, I wish for a storage medium that will last Millenia."

"Is it really impractical if it saves you a lifetime of trying to runaround finding something that actually works?" she asks, before concentrating. There's a glow in her hand, before a rainbow-faceted gem necklace materializes. The girl looks tired, moreso than Bea's seen before. "Here you go. Concentrate on it, and it will record your perceptions and feelings while wearing it. So... do be careful with what you would be fine with another person getting into your head about." There's a sly smile and a wink.

"... Not terribly I suppose, but I'm not used to being able to ask for the impossible and just receive it. Are you alright? You look physically winded." She considered yellow with great concern, arching a brow at the playful warning. So, some sort of rainbow gem that recorded thoughts and feelings. The occult would certainly be outside her field of expertise, and Yellow was definitely capable of creating something that didn't exist yet. It meant much less time in intense study then it did in rigorously transcribing materials into a capsule that might not otherwise survive the passage of time. "Thank you Yellow. It means a lot."

"I'm... fine, probably..." she says. "Probably just gonna find.. a place to lay down. And/or get... something to eat. I'm usually not hungry, but I am now... Uh, anyways, I'll just... catch up with you later, if you're wanting to... get a jump on things."
Rainbow looks at Bea for confirmation, an eyebrow arching.

The girl shrugs helplessly and turns the item over in her hands. "Should work... I just hope Yellow will be alright, I have never seen her tax herself like that before... I get the impression there is a bit of impatience, or maybe she knows more then she is letting on, but he has always kind of been mysterious that way."

"I mean, they've only been around, what, a week?" Rainbow says, "I dunno if anyone can really find themselves properly in that time. Even to themselves."
"So... where are you wanting to start?"

"We'll be spending a great deal of time in the library still. Let's have a meal overlooking the bay, and then I want to settle into Maxie's records and test out the gift Yellow gave me... I'll help with your reading of anything that draws your interest too of course."

It's easy to find a spot overlooking the bay, given that pretty much everything is able to, once you get past the biggest buildings on the outer rim where they'd landed. There are probably a bunch of Pokémon in the water, but the only ones that are really discernable are big ones like Gyarados, Milotic, and Wailord.
"It feels weird to have the sky just be a... circle above you," Rainbow says, as they eat. "Or is that just me? I wonder why people settled here in the first place. Was there a deliberate reason? Because it seems very hard to believe that getting into and settling here would be easy, after all. Heck, it seems hard enough to discover in the first place. I know I sure wouldn't want to go flying around cratered mountains. Even if they were filled with water."

"It does feel strange to have a more limited scope like this." Bee commented in reply as she considered the view. "Of the regions I'm aware of, Hoenn consists of the most small islands, and is also the only one with a town built entirely on the water, being Pacifidlog to the east of us." She pokes her food around with a fork.
"If I had to take a guess, it has to do with one of the previous iterations of Kyogre and Groudon, before the written record, but there is probably information here on its formation. There is a name for this kind of isle but if escapes me."

"Weird?" she suggests, laughing. "Regardless, it certainly does feel like people of the past were a lot more... adventurous."
The library is easy to find, being a massive towering building, with statues of long serpentine dragons, with jewels on their body and horns on their heads, spiraling up in front of it, watching over. The book that Bea wants to find is easy enough to find, with a robust cataloguing system, and easy to use computers.
"The Life and Regrets of Maximilian Matsubusa." It's a decent-sized book, might take some time to get through it all.
The Foreword reads "When I was young, I hoped that I could change the world. Have my name remembered. And, in a way, I suppose it has. Just not in the way that I thought I would. That's something that I wish I could tell my younger self. To not get so caught up in things that you neglect to see the bigger picture. I feel like that's something that affects everyone - we don't spend the time to truly reflect on our feats and failures until they are past, and there's nothing to do about them. I do not make excuses for my actions, though. While everyone makes mistakes, not all of them are on the magnitude of mine. I do not write this to ask for forgiveness, or even necessarily acceptance. I do not write this for money. I write this simply to get the words out of my head, and focus my thoughts. Anything this book makes will go towards restoration work for the places that people and Pokémon live. It is not equal to what I have done, but if you don't do anything for it not being equal, you will never begin. -Maximilian"
Bea can see that Rainbow, reading over her shoulder, is struggling a little, but trying not to show it.

"This is the forward, which is like a letter from the author explaining the goal of the book, rather then the prologue which gets into the history leading into the events contained in the book. Are there any words you need help with or... would you like me to read it aloud for you?" Beatrice asked shyly, color flooding her cheeks.

"Oh..." Rainbow flushes. "N-no, that's all right. My mother was always very adamant that it's wrong to be loud or talk unnecessarily in places of knowledge. I couldn't. You just... do what you were doing, and I'll... do my best to follow along. B...besides, I wouldn't want you having to talk to me on record for anything..."

"Ah, right, of course... I should turn it on. Nearly forgot to..." Bee replied in a whisper, reminding herself libraries were indeed places to keep one's voice down. Focusing her thoughts on the pendant around her neck, she waited a moment for any sort of reaction, a tickle of silliness in her head over the idea of what she was doing. With or without response, she returned to her reading.

She feels a little whisper in her mind, a thread, a cobweb hanging there that she could just mentally brush away. So... that's probably fine, right?
"It all began when I was a teenager, fresh out from school for the summer, where I met one Archibald Aogiri. It was happenstance, really, overhearing him complaining to a friend about the state of things..."
"...we knew - or, rather, thought we knew - that the world needed to be changed. Within two or three generations, the expansion of our cities would begin to threaten many habitats of Pokémon, and require more destruction of land to fuel our ways of lives. Hoenn had thus far avoided industrialising too much, but we figured that it wouldn't last..."
"...while we agreed on the broad statements, the details were things that we squabbled over. He believed that the future lay in Pacifidlog, expanding further and further onto the sea. Self-sustaining with hydroelectric power. I felt that there were better ways to tap into the land, and avoid encroaching further onto our valuable ecosystems. But, as we had not yet found what we should do, and heady in our fervor, we continued on..."
"..it was then that we started collecting around us those who wanted to change the world. Some, like my soon-to-be good friend Tabitha, were minds who helped us to gain alternate perspectives. Others were go-getters. It was an incredible collection of talent and energy - though the most talented and energetic were probably intelligent enough to see the flaws in us and do something else..."
"...it was only when we realized that we needed to expand our gaze did we hit upon our realization. We were looking to the future for answers. But what we needed was in the past…"
"...research took a long time, as what we needed was incredibly obscure lore, at least to the layman. What's now well known about the orbs and their relation to the Legendary Pokémon was previously mostly conjecture, and legends passed down by those in sacred places. It was only by collecting it all together, and feeling the information to each that we were able to paint a good picture of what we needed to do. Arcane rites that needed to be satisfied. Despite the orbs being shattered, though, I will not elaborate on them here. The knowledge need not spread, to prevent someone from making our mistakes again..."
"...with knowledge in hand, thus began our fracture. We had two paths - the land and the sea. As long as we only woke up one, we foolishly figured that we were safe. There would be none to fight, so we could control it. The issue lay in making a decision. And it was in that moment that the schism formed. Team Aqua followed Archie's banner, while Team Magma were those who remained true to my vision. Both flawed in similar yet opposing ways..."
"...and so it became a race. A race for a power source using Mount Chimney and a meteorite. A race to locate the ancient Pokémon. A race to get transportation to where they needed to be..."
"...it essentially ended in a tie. And that's when the fighting began..."
"...only through the heroics of certain members of the populace, who wish to remain uncredited, were things able to be stopped..."
"...and in the end, Archie and I stood together once more. Knowing what we had to do. Knowing that we were mistaken. Knowing that we had to do what we could to atone, and try to make things as right as we could."
The last bit of the book is mostly just a summary of time in prison, difficulties afterwards, and the following opportunity to work at Devon.

Closing the book slowly, Beatrice mentally brushed at that cobweb and sat back with her eyes shut, just taking a moment to breathe. It had been quite a long time since she had settled and really taken in something of that scope. There were definitely lessons to be taken away from Maxie's writings, friends and rivals turned opponents, striving for a greater good but only doing greater damage. After a few moments of rubbing her eyes to clear the settling mental fatigue from the intense study and, presumably the recording device about her neck, she rose and stretched vigorously. "We should go check on Yellow, move around for a bit and maybe get something else to eat. That was heavier reading then I was expecting. This evening we can probably check out some relevant subjects for the history capsule, and a few books that you might want to help your reading along."

"Are you feeling okay?" Rainbow asks, quietly. "How was it? And is that heavy? I saw quite a few much-weightier looking books when looking around." She looks carefully at the tome.
"Also... there are books specifically to help you read books? How... how does that help if you can't really read books in the first place?"

"Mentally fatigued, but otherwise fine, the book itself was a series of topics and ideas that were... How to explain it. Emotionally stirring and sombering. The contents of the book were mentally 'weighty'." Bee explained slowly, smile spreading across her face as Rainbow asked about books that helped you learn to read. "There are levels of reading, and you get better through practice. Once you know your alphabet, and basic words, you can read beginner books that use lots of small words and simple sentence structures. From there, there are steps up, and you can keep learning new words and honing what you can read while you gain speed at it."
