The trainers return to the trail and walk on until they reach the point Adri had spotted before: At some point the beasts they were trackign had looped back upon themselves, creating a crossroads of tracks. Luckily Conner doesnt have too much trouble working out which set of tracks are newest and in which direction to follow them.
The tracks lead them between some hills and then finally up one. It gets a bit brighter again as they climb the hill and catch more of the setting sun. The tops of Petalite reappears to their left, closer than when they set out but still a ways away. As they reach the peak of the hill Conner sees that the tracks lead down into the next valley.

Zach takes a look from their new vantage point, curious. And there was Petalite! They could head there whenever, but this was pretty fun! Lots of exercise, and a new companion! He'd chalk this up to a good day.

Adri wiped a bead of sweat of her forehead and stared at the sprawling mass of buildings that is Petalite. The city seemed opposite to everything her hometown of Amberleaf was. She wondered the kinds of things they'd find walking through its streets.
Stretching a bit to remove some tension in her arms she took a peek around the group. To her left Ilyanna seemed to also check her surroundings.

Amidst the shadows and bushes in the valley Adri is able to pick out the forms of several bulls, resting on the ground.
These are likely what they were following. She can see 4 of them from up here.
Nobody else spots them.

Zach thought a moment, looking past to the wilds. "Or something else might come... But I'm for it. Gimme a moment to get it set up." He pulled a bit of bait from his pack, and set it out in a nice, clear spot where they could watch it.

The trainers hide off to the side and Zach's prediction comes true. Two small rodents come out of the bushes on the far side and start sniffing at the bait.
As the trainers are about to react to these however, louder footsteps echoes up the hill, and both the rats perk up and look down towards the Tauros approaching them, both tensing.
