Goomy falls from the biting, and Tempu moves in for the flex... which is immediately retaliated against by the Axew striking forth with a vicious blow with each tusk, punching straight through the bug's additional buzzing defenses, and only the shimmering shield put up earlier saves the flexing bug from severe bruising of more than pride. "I wouldn't count your Torchics before they hatch," Yvonne says. "That's how you get sloppy. Even if your position looks good, you might regret it."Goomy Faints. Tempu takes 58 damage and 2 injuries from Dual Chop (or, more likely, 29).

"Stand strong Tempu, and both of you together now! Axew is powerful, but we are many and prepared, let's goo!" Bylii gave a trill of excitement, moving into position a short ways behind Tempu, the pair unleaching attacks one after another into the little biped.
(Reflect activated. Tempu connects with Bug Bite for 44 Bug Physical. Bylii connects with Fairy Wind for 35 Fairy Special. Bee issues Focused Orders at the top of the round for Bylii).

Tempu gets in a good hit, but all it really seems to do is enrage the Axew, who lets out a roar that really doesn't seem like it should be able to come from such a little dragon, before rapidly ripping into the Ledian and knocking it from the sky. It doesn't seem to appreciate being flexed on, and does a little triumphant roar of it's own over the bug's unconscious body. ...until Bylli takes the wind out of its sails, knocking it out with glittering wind. Axew is hit by Bug Bite. Tempu takes 69 damage and 3 injuries from Frustration. A critical hit! Axew Faints from Fairy Wind. The crowd applauds and cheers, Bylli bouncing around in the air, while Yvonne recalls the dragon. "Congratulations, challenger. I am glad that you have shown dedication to improving your skill. It is something that will serve you well." She gives a slight bow. "My assistant out front will give you your winnings, a copy of Frustration - an attack which serves to focus punishment you receive into retaliation - and the Drake Badge. It will aid you, should you choose to use it, in forcing through even the strongest defenses. I am sure that you will know how to use all that is granted. Now... I wish you luck in your future battles. They will only get more challenging." And with that, she twirls around with a flourish, and vanishes into the back of the Gym. Bea is met back in the front by Maddie, Rainbow, and Jasmine. "Oh, congratulations, Bee!" Rainbow says, "You did it this time! I knew you could!" "Glad you came when you did," Jasmine quips. "I forgot to bring a book or something, and was dreading having to wait hours to see your battle. Principal Madison here wouldn't give me a pass to leave in case I missed it." She giggles. "Knock it off," Maddie says, raising an eyebrow. "You make it sound like I forced you to come. Anyways," she turns back to Beatrice, holding out a small bag in one hand, and badge in the other, "these are yours. I still think that Yvonne should change the Gym so she can walk across and present this stuff to challengers herself, but, eh, not my call. I guess that's what minions are for." She chuckles. Bea gains 1 Milestone, 700 EXP to spread amongst her 'mon - with a cap of level 20 - the Drake Badge (grants Mold Breaker), $2000, and TM 21 Frustration.

Color spread across Beatrice's cheeks. She hadn't expected Jasmine to come too, much less be so happy to see her. A smile broke out across her face and she adjusted her glasses with a finger. "Thanks Rainbow, it all just fell into place this time. Glad you came Jasmine, didn't really expect to see you again, we were going to head out in a hurry after this, might not have gotten a proper goodbye."
Accepting the packages from Maddie, she turned the badge over in her palm a few times, considering, before attaching it to Limul's ball. "I'm guessing Yvonne just likes the dramatic flair, that and if she gets along well with something as proud and strong as dragons, she must be pretty proud and strong herself. She won't change for someone else.". The girl parsed out thoughtfully. "I should get Tempu to the center for his injuries." Her tone shifted towards somber.
Having friends was new, nice. A sedentary lifestyle was not for her though. She held out a hand for Maddie to shake. "Thank you for everything. I promise if I am ever in town again we'll get together sometime."

"Eh, y'know, it's a change of pace and all," Jasmine shrugs, "support those who support you, and all that jazz. But, regardless," she laughs, "I think there was a good enough goodbye as it was. Riding off into the sunset and everything. So, I won't hold you back from your wandering ways. Ciao," she says, giving a little wave as she heads for the Gym door. "Don't be a stranger."
Maddie rolls her eyes at the other Altered, before shaking Bea's hand. "Well, you've always got a place to stay if you need it coming by here. Good luck on your journey ahead. And stay safe."

"Riding off into the sunset" certainly sounded like someone's romantic fond farewell, but certainly not hers. That meant travelling after dark which was uncomfortable and I'll advised both. With Tempu dropped off at the Center, Bee went shopping for supplies for her chemistry kit, as well as pokeball pieces wholesale, then to a quiet space with enough room for her to restock her medicinal supplies, brew repels, pack pester balls, and assemble Pokeballs properly. After Dewford, she wouldn't be caught under prepared, or just barely prepared again.
Once Tempu had received his proper and due treatment, she considered the rather rough treatment he had received at all stages of the last few days, and decided to leave him to rest in storage, retrieving her hungry grub for the next leg of the journey.

Business in Rustboro all concluded, the pair head out for the east exit of the city - back towards where they'd camped the last night - and on towards Verdanturf and the Gym Leader there.
The road leading out is very distinct, as it seems that the two cities are within less than half a day's walk of each other with the tunnel, so there's a fair bit of traffic. Besides that, though, it reminds Bea of the road around Petalburg - a fair bit of trees, open air, and longish grass rustling in the wind. The mountains are up ahead, though, reaching into the sky, denoting where the separation of cities truly is.
It's just over an hour in, though, that the quiet of the road is interrupted. From somewhere behind Bea, there is a strange, loud sound. Like a mix between a 'crack' and metallic peal. It makes Rainbow jump and flutter into the air, looking around, frantically.

Being a private individual, the populated roads see Bee in a quieter light, the tunnel interests her, but architecture being mostly out of her purview it only lasts so long. The silence interrupting her train of thought causes the scientist to similarly start, and whirl about to find the source of such a sound. It had almost been a declaration of something breaking. Whirling around, she finds... nothing. There's not a blade of grass or rustling bush or anything out of the ordinary. Hmmm.
And then the sound rings out again. And... once more, it sounds like it's coming from directly behind her. But she was just looking down that way, and it'd just been road...

There is a clear rising anxiety at the strange phenomenon, as the trainer looks up, and about to find the source of the sound. Failing immediate results, Solenoid is let free.
"I need you to locate that noise, it sounds metallic, so follow your magnetic senses, and we'll get this sorted..."
At the third instance of the noise, again behind her, Bee removed her pack and began rifling through it. "There's no way that racket is the egg I've been carrying about."

In fact, the egg does seem to be the source of said racket. Digging it out, and getting it out of her bag, it's very clear that there are two distinct cracks in the shell. A third one soon follows, along with another peal. The golden oval begins to shake a little bit, as smaller peals signal more cracks, until finally the thing explodes outwards into shards of shell, leaving a ball of energy that shoots up into the sky to coalesce into a small, vaguely humanoid shape.
A pale body, with two black eyes. Atop it's head, a three-pointed yellow crown, each point with what seems like a blue tag on it. And from behind, two ribbony-wing-things pointing out and down. It has a very distinct star-shaped silhouette, floating there in the air.
<<Ah, good, it was starting to feel real cramped in there,>> comes a voice inside Bea's head. And apparently Rainbow's, too because she starts backwards, a shocked look on her face. "I'm sorry, what, wha? Was that... that? What?"
The floating Pokémon cocks its head, before glowing again. After a moment, there appears in its place a young blond-haired boy in shorts and a t-shirt, looking to be only about ten, who falls a few inches to the ground. "Oh, yeah, for you especially, probably easier if I take a form like this. And less trouble in general." It's definitely the same voice that was heard before, just out loud.
Rainbow is just looking back and forth between the newcomer and Bea in absolute confusion.

The girl watched the hatching Pokemon in awe. It could speak intelligently, change shape, and held some measure of awareness despite having been an egg. Pinching the bridge of her nose for a moment, she steadied her breathing. "Okay, hold up, I am getting two things straight right now, before I explode with questions... Please be patient a moment."
Fishing out her Pokedex, she entered first "JIRACHI" then followed it up with "CELEBI" when the first entry finished vocalizing. "I had a lot of questions when you were just an egg, and you just compounded on that so much... I just can't even. Rainbow, this might be your yellow star..."

"Jirachi," the 'Dex displays - though, unlike most entries, it does not have a proper picture with it - just a speculative diagram, though it does look close to the creature they saw. "The Wish Pokémon. A mythical Pokémon said to have the power to grant wishes during one week every one thousand years, it supposedly remains asleep the rest of the time. No specimens of this species have been conclusively documented."
"Celebi," it continues, with the next entry Bea pulls up, which does have a picture, although it's not as clear as most. "The Time Travel Pokémon. A mythical Pokémon said to wander across time as guardian of the forest. Wherever it appears, trees and grass flourish. This species has not been able to be heavily studied, though, and is more likely to instead wield potent powers of precognition and teleportation."
"Hey, that's not right," Rainbow says, frowning at the 'Dex. "I can't teleport. I have to span elsewhen, walk, and then span back."
"Yellow star?" muses the boy, "that's as good a thing to be called as any. And that thing's wrong anyways. Wishes take power. We can grant 'em any time, but gotta build up for the big ones. Pretending to sleep is a good enough method of getting people to go away as any, though. And actually sleeping helps to pass the time." He shrugs.
"Wait... so..." Rainbow stammers out, "the yellow star might be... a person... a Pokémon... not a thing? I mean... I guess... I guess that's why I felt drawn to span to you, but..." She seems at a loss for words.

"After I met Rainbow I was certain some future iteration of herself had left me your egg, but now it seems more like it might have been you, yourself." Walking a slow circle around the boy, she looked him over. "It's fascinating, you can appear human, speak our language, are aware even as an egg... but why was I the one to find you? Where did you go in those moments you suddenly disappeared? For that matter, what do I even call you?"
Casting her attention back to Rainbow, she folded her hands over her middle. "Jirachi's head is shaped like a three-pointed yellow star, and it has the power to grant wishes. It is highly probable that this moment came about to secure a better future for this place then the one you've lived in... "

"Nah, wasn't me," the boy says, "woulda been my parent. When we grow old, and weary of the world, we create a new, fresh Jirachi or two to take our places. A general impression of memories, but with enough room to grow and experience life again with fresh eyes. And those eggs are sent to a place where they'll be cared for and safe before hatching, while the one inside gets its bearings. It's nowhere intentional... just whatever will be, will be."
"As for where it went?" He shrugs. "Somewhere. Nowhere. Betweenwhere. Safety. All I know is that it broke contact with the outside world. And why you?" Another shrug. "Fate, I guess."
"I mean, you already called me something," he grins. "'Yellow', wasn't it? You've had enough people with chromatic names running about that it's not like it's out of place."
"And the wings add two more points," Rainbow says, slowly, as though trying to still process it all. "It... makes sense, but also... I didn't think a Pokémon would be the way to save things. The whole point is that they're symptoms of a problem!" She looks at the boy. "Is it true? Can you really grant wishes?"
"Well, in a sense," Yellow says. "It's more that we can do stuff, and people asking for wishes happens to be an easy way for all the information to get across. Plus people seem to be more accepting of the whole 'three wishes' thing, rather than 'no, I'm exhausted, go away'. But, here, here's seeing is believing." He snaps his fingers and holds out his hand, before two plastic cards appear in it, one of which he hands over to Rainbow. "There you go. Rainbow Callista, Citizen of Hoenn, legally registered Altered. ...for all general intents and purposes, at least." Bea catches that he has one for himself, too - for one 'Yellow Starr'. "You wanted to be able to stay in the Centers, eh? Real beds and all."
Rainbow blinks, and seems speechless, before saying at last "Uh... oh, uh, thank you. I, uh, I see..."

"I don't have the words for how happy that makes me, Yellow." Bee smiled in spite of herself. No more camping! Or mooching. Real beds! Yes! "Thank you so much!"
Exciting as it was, wishing seemed like the sort of thing that was steeped outside of the realm of science, but both Jirachi and Celebi were the stuff of legends. In a way it made sense. "So... Rainbow is here from a not so distant future where everything goes wrong because of these meteors that emit radiation and make Pokemon go berserk, that part might have happened while you were still an egg." At this she tapped her temple a few times.
"Is... Fixing something world-spanning and across time something you are capable of? Or even just... Removing the restrictions on altering the past? It can't be this simple."

"I was aware of what was going on while I was still in the egg, if not fully," Yellow says. "It's how I was able to nudge you a ride to Dewford and whatnot. So, I know all that stuff you talked about around me."
"As for me being able to fix it?" He thinks. "No. Not here, and not now. I do not yet have the power to do something like that. And as for time... that I have no power over. Even making someone young is more rebuilding them from their memories than actually turning back the clock."
Rainbow's face falls. "So... we came all this way for nothing. And it's hopeless."
"No, I didn't say that. I just said neither here nor now. You yourself don't have the power to get back home as it is, no? That's possibly something that could work for me, too. No guarantees, though."

"We have a fragment and know a potential place to purify it." Bee mused, starting to pace as she sifted through her thoughts. "With how strongly immutable time is, Rainbow's future has to come to pass and resolve properly. We can't just wish the meteors away, or you'd have never come back, and I'd never have known of the event to make the wish. It would all snap back to this moment."
Following that train of thought, her shoulders visibly sagged, and she bore a deep sense of melancholy. "That future isn't safe for Yellow though, nor me... Not without being an altered. It would be a very final goodbye I think. Before then, though... We'd need to assure the machine is there, and that you have enough purified aetherstone to take two people that far into the future."

"As long as things are resolved quickly," Yellow says, shrugging, "It should all be fine. Probably. As long as you don't want me to touch any of that gunk. And if not, well... it'd happen at some point anyways, eh?" He gives a bit of a sardonic grin.
"I'd... rather not think about that," Rainbow says. "It has to succeed. Has to." She does look at Bea with a bit more confidence, though. "If it does work, though, there'll be no need to worry about 'final goodbyes'. If I can take you forwards, I can take you back, too. There'll be no need to worry about that. If everything goes well. And it will. I have to believe." She looks at Yellow. "Belief and wishes and all that have power, don't they?"
The Jirachi grins. "If that helps you sleep better at night, then sure."

"We have been a bit rude in making assumptions that you'll help, and I feel bad asking so much of a newborn? If I can even call you that, you are very articulate. Will you please help us Yellow? I know it is asking a lot, and I haven't really given you good reason yet, but I am very earnest in saying that I will do whatever I can to help Rainbow, and by extension you."
A smile stole back into her expression. "Already carried you around for most of a week, besides."
