Well that was easy! Let’s hope the rest of the zone is like this! She continues on.

She tries to get closer, see if it’s awake or not. Usually they are sleeping but gtfo once you get close, so she’s gonna make sure!

Abra are notoriously difficult to catch. It's said that if you see it, it already knows you're there and is just waiting for the right moment to disappear. Starly, on the other hand, like that one in the tree there, are super common and even competitive sometimes. Pokemon in the Safari Zone are a lot more used to humans, however, and tend to be less hostile on average.

Well now she approaches the Starly and leaves a piece of bait out for it and see what it does.

Starly eyes Victoria suspiciously, then boldly flies over and snatches up the bait before returning to the tree tops.

Well there we go! It'll certainly need some help, but she's got a viable flying mount. Onward!

Next up is a rare Alolan Pokemon! It looks kinda like a praying mantis, but the 'Dex says it's a Grass-Type called 'Fomantis'. Oh! 'Fo' like 'Faux' or 'false'! It's a fake bug! It's just sunning itself right now.

Doesn't have to be a real bug to get Victoria's attention! It's still very cute. She doubts 'bait' will help a pokemon that like photosynthesis, so she decides to slide up next to and say hi!

Startled from its reverie, the little not-a-bug hisses defensively. When Victoria makes no move to attack it, it slowly begins to relax again and resumes "eating" sunlight.

She decides to lay back and enjoy sunlight next to the creature, relaxing for a moment.

Fomantis side-eyes you for a bit, then relaxes again. Then it starts to walk away once it's finished with its meal of sunlight. Or at least...you think it eats sunlight. Then you see it snatch up a small non-Pokemon insect and chow down.

Vicky, laying down at this point, looks and sees as it eats something. Oh so it WILL work! She rolls over on her stomarch and then rolls a piece of bait over to the Fomantis!

Maybe it was standing in the sunlight because it liked the warmth? Hm. It finishes off the cluster of bugs it...mysteriously acquired...and slinks over to investigate the bait. It decides that this bait is kinda nice, and picks it up to begin eating.
