The bird hit by Starmie's bubbles manages to have one of its shields avoid some of the impact, but it's still knocked about a fair bit from the force of the blow. The two of them turn their attention to the more pressing threat of the Marowak… but still manage to not hit at all. Bubblebeam hits S2. S2 spends a Light Screen. S2 misses with Gust. S3 misses with Psybeam. Map

"What d'you figure they're protectin it fer anyway? Not like Pokemon built it, or there's nothing they'd figure was dangerous. Dex says they're psychic, maybe it's one o'them Aura things."
Ranger, having locked onto its target is absolutely ruthless, water spattering the sands around its target as it hammers the avianoid once more. (62 Water Special)

Kai shrugs, avoiding grumbling just a bit as he fetches another ball from his pockets. "I mean, Pokemon have had temples built for them. Would it be really strange if they could build them themselves?" Maybe if they caught one they could figure it out, Kai wasn't entirely sure he wanted it permanently on his team, but maybe. He tossed a ball at one of them, hoping to make purchase this time. Meanwhile, the bone dancer let out spectral waves at the avian it missed, letting off it's annoyance through the waves that soared on past the creature. The bubbles from ranger batter the bird it's targeting, with Kai's ball hitting afterwards, enough to ready to capture when the avian finally falls. The one being battered whips up more wind as the current breeze seems to flag, while the other directs its psychic powers to refreshing the defenses of its fellows. It seems as if they may be hurt, but aren't quite going down yet... S2 takes an injury from Bubblebeam. Hex misses. S2 is hit with the Pokéball. S2 uses Tailwind. S3 uses Light Screen.

"Yeah kinda? There are a couple that use tools but they aren't super common. What would a Pokemon's temple even contain? Is that something they have over in Aloler?" Starmie misses with Brine once more, while Theodore is distracted by the conversation with Kai.

Kai would normally have wanted to focus on the fight, but talking about his home was kinda a topic that easily got him invested. "Oh, the Tapu's all have temples, dedicated to the concepts behind each of them. It's said the Tapu's still visit them to this day, even without the worshippers and all that!"Puraha glanced at the talking duo, before turning back and trying his best to wack the thing out of the sky again. At this rate he might have to wack the trainers instead. His annoyance seemed to finally find purchase this time! Puraha's wrath is enough to fell the bird, it de-energizing to be sucked into the ball that Kai had hit it with earlier. But, its companion doesn't seem to want to let that act go unpunished as it blasts the Marowak with a psychic beam, knocking the new companion out. There remains only one bird left in the sky, though. S2 Faints from Shadow Bone. It's super effective! Marowak takes 26 damage, an injury, and Faints from Psybeam.

"They are certainly taking their toll. The heck's a Tappuu? Ranger, don't stop firin' till 'es still." The Starmie re-orients itself and unleashes another torrent of bubbles. (6 on an AC 2, for 48 Water Special)

"Tapu's are... well they're the guardians of the islands, deities that have protected us since time immemorial and stuff like that" Kai glanced over at the catch, and grimaced at Puraha getting creamed by the psywave. He reached over and returned the bone wielder, glancing around and releasing Coronet, just to ensure victory. "Freeze it's wings solid!" Coronet span trying to find it's target, before firing off a beam of bright lights straight at the Avianoid. Aurora Beam AC 2 Acc 9 52 Ice Special

The combined force of the star and fox are enough to strip the bird's defensive shields, but it's still barely up. It seems this will probably be the end of it, but it does make an effort to take down Ranger with it, not backing down. S3 takes damage from Bubblebeam. Spends Light Screen. S2 takes an injury from Ice Beam. Spends Light Screen. Ranger takes 17 damage from Gust.

Ranger spins into the wind, turning and firing a volley of stars at the final avian to put the conflict to bed.

It's enough, and the final bird falls under the hot desert sun. Kai's able to pick up the ball of the one that he caught, while the sands sweep over the bodies of the others in the wind that begins to die down. You caught a Sigilyph! Level: 25 Gender: Male Nature: Serious Abilities: Magic Guard, Tinted Lens Moves: Reflect, Light Screen, Air Cutter, Psybeam, Tailwind, Gust You each get 200 EXP.

"That was intense.". Theo breathed and stretched, wiping sweat from his brow. " You still good to continue Kai? Tower ain't far off now but who all knows what'll be in it. Not that I want to, but we can still turn back if'n we need."

Kai whistles for a second as he considers switching something off his team... Puraha did just get busted up, but he was newly joined so... Send the Sigilyph away it was! He nodded to himself, before turning to Theo. "Coronet is still fine, probably should have led off with him anyways, so, I'm good to go on in. Besides worst case we can just tail it out of there if we find something too big to chew on!"
Kai made to start heading towards the tower, he was curious what the ancient architecture was like over here anyways.

"I don't know how well Lucille and Six will be able to fight in a place with a roof not meant for a three story neck, but I still have two fresh and we might have an opportunity to catch something that isn't birds, I'm in.". Dusting himself off, he fell into step beside Kai.

The group enters, the cool interior of the tower seeming a lot larger than it appears from the outside. And it looks very strange. While the walls are still yellow, it looks more like gold leaf instead of sandstone, and there are channels of blue energy running across it. Stairs seem to spiral up the center, with floors upon floors visible as the shaft is glanced up.
Walking around are Goletts, much like Cole's, plus a variety of other Pokémon - pale tops, and shiny mirrors - float through the air. None of them look to pay any attention to the interlopers, instead peering at spots on the wall, or brushing at places, or just... wandering.

Theodore considered the upward path and whistled appreciably. "Alright this was some trip, and there ain't no spooks about no-how. I'm all fer seeing what we can see, so onward and upward fellers." He casually greets a few of the Pokemon as they pass to mount the stairs, with a tip of his hat, or a respectful nod of his head. His eyes gravitate to the lit lines up the tower walls. "This is like somethin' out of one of them ski-fee films."

Kai twist his body around as he tried to take it all in, there was a lot of cool stuff here, from the ancient pokemon to the architecture. It was pretty interesting how it all blended together. Weather it was built by man or pokemon it was surely a marvel. "Ski-fee? Oh, Sci-fi, Yeah I can get why you'd say that. Though maybe Fantasy would fit better, I mean it looks like we walked into the past just a little bit, don'tcha think?"
Kai waved at the first few Pokemon he saw, but when he realized they weren't reacting at all, he just stopped, trying to take note of what each one was doing. Maybe they all had specific purposes or something?"

None of the Pokémon seem to react much to the Trainers, besides to walk or float around them if they happened to be in the path that they were going to take. There are runes on the walls in places that look to be stared at, some glowing, some reshaping, some flashing, but none of it really making any sense.
So they climb. And climb and climb and climb. Up and up and up, floor after floor of the same but different things. Sometimes there are larger Pokémon - giant colossi, multi-eyed tops, bells - but still none of them pay the visitors any mind.
After what seems like an eternity of stairs, they end. There's still more to the tower... just, uh, no stairs. Or Pokémon on this floor. There are some windows looking outside, though, staring over onto the desert, and the lands beyond... though different windows show different things. Like green fields, flooded ocean, or dead, cracked lands where the forests over the mountains would be.
There appear to be a few gilded chests scattered around, just asking to be opened.

"If I don't never have to look at stairs again it'll be too soon. This place's been something else. The Pokemon we's finding ain't normal types sure as shootin'" Theo scratched under the brim of his hat. At least it was cool in here, he couldn't imagine climbing all those flights in the desert heat. As was, his legs were burning.
"Seems a bit strange with how little was out this way watching this stuff there's be anything of value left..." Leaning down, he experimentally tried to open one of the chests.
