While wandering in the woods, searching for a Joltik, Ruby stumbles across something even more impressive (if far less cute): a Heracross! It seems to be busy consuming the sap from a tree and doesn't notice her arrival (unless of course, she announces said arrival).

Startled from its feeding, the Heracross leaps off the tree and into a fighting stance. It hunkers down and raises its horn menacingly.

When Ruby doesn't immediately attack/launch a Pokemon, Heracross relaxes ever so slightly. It seems unclear on the question until Ruby clarifies that 'yellow spider' is 'Joltik', to which it indicates a negative. It has not seen any. Not that it looks for them.

"Huh...Now that I get a good look at you, you're quite impressive looking...Any chance you'd be willing to partner up with me? Whether you want food or are just looking to get stronger, I can promise you that I'll make it worth your while."

Heracross flexes victoriously as Ruby picks herself back up. She's obviously tough for a human if she can withstand its attacks like that and keep on going. If she wishes, it will join her and they'll grow stronger together.
Heracross is Female, level 10, Dreamy, with Guts.

In a less "woodsy" area of the forest, Ruby stumbles across a field of rocks. Just a field of rocks with a few scattered trees about. One rock in particular seems to be set just below a tree filled with tasty-looking berries.

There aren't any particularly rare berries, but a handful of Oran would likely be appreciated! Woops! Dropped one. Ruby looks down to see where it fell, only to find it slowly disappearing into the rock at her feet.
