Coles cheeks went red when Theo found him outside and said something about him leading going forward.....Was this....what had he said when he was on fire...
Shaking his head Cole hesitated "I'm not really sure what you mean by leading. None of us lead the others. Not since we left Littleroot, remember. I'm not gonna voluntell you anything anymore" the fire trainer laughs a little "Besides, Kai wouldn't like that. I don't think he really likes the idea of travelling with me at all anymore, you know"
Standing up and stretching, Cole places a hand on Cayanne "I know its gonna be hard to trust me from now on, but it just hurts when I watched him forgive Holly and Ruby without hesitation. But now he decides to hold a grudge" Cole glares at his hand and hits the wall behind him, a small stream of smoke rising from where it was "I don't know what I said yesterday, but I guess it must have been pretty bad"
With a smile, Cole pushes away from the wall and starts to head towards the wilds "Anyways, thanks for listening. I'm gonna go get the team ready. Good luck on the apricorn hunt!"
Once he was away, he looked down at his hand, ash from the wood he had burnt just a moment ago on bottom of his hand. It looks like he was wrong. It WASN'T just going to go away. Turning his attention away from that, he ran his team through their normal drills, before spending a little extra time with Cayanne, testing out how much he could still do with flames since she could stop them from getting too out of hand

Kai got up last, grumbling a bit audibly in the morning about how he could barely sleep. Despite his apparent rough night, he makes sure to thank Lanette before he heads out after Theo.
He wanted to get training over with, running Coronet, Kele, and Wela through some routines with less energy than he normally puts into it. He does seem annoyed, but with how tired he was and the pains from yesterday still aching, who could really blame him.
Whenever he finally gets a sight of the others, he offers a curt "Mornin'" to them.

"Easier, not harder." Theodore replied with an earnest smile and a twinkle in his good eye, the other still closed for the time being. "Once everything is laid out and people get the fight out of their system, you know they ain't hiding anything." He gestured back towards the falls. "Near as I can tell, the plates grab something deep and important in you, and they force it to the top."
Fred sniffed at Cayenne as she walked past and turned to follow the fox. "Holly was 'bout nature. Ruby was 'bout her place in the world and her pa. You was about being strong enough that you didn't need to rely on us anymore. To protect us." He gave Cole a squeeze of the shoulder as Fred took him past the pair.
"I would say that is a mighty fine thing to keep close to your heart, and I ain't holding it against you." Theodore called over his shoulder without turning, giving Kai a wave, hips rocking slowly in time with the steps of his mount as he rode off into the sunrise (in search of apricorns).

While Theo's search nearby proves fruitless, he fares better along the route ahead. The group leaves Lanette's and heads up route 114 towards Fallarbor, a river to their left, mountains to their right. At times, the river brushes right up against the mountain, but thankfully there are sturdy bridges built to allow the route to continue. The river does seem to allow for some fertile growth, as Theo discovers, picking out a couple of trees along the way with Apricorn growth. By lunchtime, he's gathered up a handful of Apricorns. Theo gains 2 Black Apricorns, and 2 White Apricorns. Getting a further distance up the river, the group is suddenly interrupted by the sudden sounds of tussling in the brush off to the side. Suddenly, tumbling out are a pair of Pokémon. A snakelike one is trying to whip a bladed tail at a biped, which is in turn trying to claw at the snake.

"Sakes alive, that looks like a fight to the death if'n I ever saw one." He scratched his head under the brim of his hat, but didn't move in immediately to do anything about it. If they had a grudge with each other, the two pokemon would work it out, or they wouldn't. He pet Fred soothingly, tousling the thick mane.

Kai tensed up at the sight of them, fights tended to get out of hand fast, and he was plenty sure they'd get caught up in it if they weren't careful. He began fishing up a ball, grabbing Wela's after a moment. "If we wanna avoid it, we probably want to back off a bit... at least until they get off the path"
He stared at the two creatures, trying to figure out if either had any ranged attacks. They didn't look like it, but Pokemon could deceive you about that.

Cole shrugged as well "I think they're gonna do this no matter what. If they get too close we could knock some sense into em, but I say we just go around"
Hating each other and fighting to the death, as barbaric as it seemed, was just the natural order of things for Wild Pokemon, and Cole really didn't have the energy to stop them right now. He just wanted to get as far from the Falls as possible right now and put that chapter of his life behind him.

"No real reason to risk going off trail, we weren't lookin to do anything but rest today anyway." Theodore pats Fred's neck affectionately. "Just give'm a scare boy." Bounding forward, Fred issues a fearsome roar, but it seems to leave the other two Pokemon less phased then it would have.

The two Pokémon don't even look up from their deathmatch at the roaring, and continue to claw and tail-blade at each other. They don't even look up as the Trainers make their way past. The remainder of the trail is uneventful, and there's nothing much of any note until the path comes to make a sharp turn, next to a waterfall.
Directly forwards just runs into mountains, but a little to the right is what appears to be a house set into them. A fair ways beyond that, but still in sight, is what appears to be Fallarbor town.
Taking a look at the house as the group nears it, it seems to be a dusty, almost run-down place, with an ill-maintained sign out front with what's probably a picture of a fossil carved into it, judging by the words "Fossil Maniac" that lie below the image.

Now that the day had passed a bit Kai was starting to look better, certainly less tired than when they just set off. He still seems on eggshells, but it certainly was a sight better than yesterday. He walked on up to the sign, staring at it closely for a moment.
"Fossil Maniac?" Kai scratched the back of his head, his confusion evident. He knew that people revived fossils and all that, but... was this a good place to find them? He turned around to look at the others, flinching for a moment when he looked at Cole before he began speaking. "W-wanna check it out? It sounds interesting, and he has a sign up... so think he likes talking about them or... maybe he has a restoration machine or whatever it's called?"

"Feller probably likes his privacy on account of being a bit outta town, but that looks like a shop sign if'n I ever saw one, sure. In ya get Fred." Theodore recalled his enormous hound, and moved to try the door.

Cole shrugged "I don't really know a lot about Fallarbor, other than its out of the way. But I'm fine with stopping in here if you both want to"
The way Kai would look away after even a glance in his way made Cole sick. It kept reminding him over and over of what he had done, even if he couldn't remember it. The incident at Lanettes this morning had proven it though, without a shadow of a doubt.
He forced a smile and waited on the other side of Theo, so Kai wouldn't have to see him.

There's a little sign on the front door saying "Fossil Enthusiasts Welcome", which seems like an invitation enough. Opening the door, the inside of the house seems all nice, neat, and orderly. There's a place for everything, everything has it's place... and most of those places are filled with diagrams, dioramas, and pictures of Fossil Pokémon.
The main part of the house seems to be a living room area, with an open kitchen and dining room (which looks to be set for only one), with a dark doorway leading to the back which looks to be a bedroom area.
There's a very odd part of the house, though, with a hole in the very middle of the back wall that seems to be cut directly into the mountain that the place is pressed against. Braced with wooden beams is a fairly sizable well-lit tunnel, descending into the mountain. There doesn't seem to be anyone in the house itself, so the occupant is probably down in the tunnel.

Kai glanced around the house at first, feeling a bit weird intruding in someones house, even if the sign said people were welcome. "Anyone home?" He checked around for a minute, peeking into the main rooms, but otherwise staying away from the rest. He did glance at the... quite frankly horrifying hole in the back.
"...You don't think he's down there, do you?"

"Hard t'say, m'curious what kinda feller has a mineshaft leadin out of their sittin room though." Theodore eyes the supports for a moment, before plodding down into the tunnel, straightening the lapels of his vest as he goes. "Looks well kept fer an abandoned place."

Cole reaches down to his belt and is about to send Cayanne out to provide a bit of light, before realizing that might not be a good idea with how little he's trusted right now.
He quickly follows after Theo "Maybe they have a really big fossil and needed more space for it? And this way they could find more"

The tunnel goes down, and down, and down, winding all over the place. Judging by it all, it all seems to be chiselled out by hand, depressions in the wall likely where things of interest were. The walls are mostly barren now, though there is occasionally a carving on an area that tends to be flatter than others. Whether this is older than the rest of the tunnel, or carved by someone who dug, it is unclear.
A good way down - though, thankfully still well-lit by electric bulbs - the tunnel becomes a bit wider, and the group becomes aware of things watching around. They're black Pokémon with a single giant eye and line-like protrusions in various shapes off of that mostly-central orb. They just float around, observing the newcomers, not acting hostile. Each one only momentarily stares, before flitting off or turning to stare off into space, or something. They just seem to be a general part of the atmosphere here, floating every so often in the air, uncaring.
The tunnel itself still winds ever deeper into the mountain, though a faint taping sound can be heard from far away, like someone chiseling.

Eyes watching him. Hundreds of them just staring....Cole didn't know why but it sent shivers down his spine and he sped up his gait, eventually overtaking Theo. Maybe if they made it to the end then they wouldn't show up anymore.
"Looks like the person who lives here is up there" He says, nervously watching the eyes.

"Yeah... place is right spooky with these floatin letters kicking 'round. Least I think they're letters, if'n you squint attem good." Theodore gently shooed another away. "Tunnel's all man made, you wouldn't think there'd be any Pokemon but they're everywhere." Pulling his vest a little tighter, he continued towards the soft sharp sound of tools on stone. "Mister Fossil Maniac, Hello?"

Kai glanced around, a bit unsure if the flying things were normal or not. The reactions of Cole and Theo seemed to lead him to believe otherwise. They were strange, made him a little bit uncomfortable, but so did stepping foot near the ruins back home. "Ya sure the tunnel is man made? I think part of it is, but not sure all of it is... unless those are man-made Pokemon?"
He trudged along after Theodore and Cole, not sure what to make of this.
