Ok, so I know that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a popular series. And Tabletop RPGs are a great way to role-play actually playing as the Pokemon themselves. Starman Theta was working on a PTU conversion to PMD, and while I like what he had done, I feel as if converting PTU as a system to PMD is flawed, mostly on account of PTU being a system designed to grant normally-powerless humans powers, and granting already-powerful Pokemon MORE powers is just asking for trouble, especially as a lot of the powers being granted are generally fairly Trainer-specific powers.
In short, I think if PMD is going to be made, it needs to be made with the role of "Being a Pokemon" being the most important aspect, and not just a gimmick.
I've said this in another thread, but I feel that the Ironclaw system is a great starting point if its going to be built. The Ironclaw Tabletop Game, for those who don't know, is a system where you play as anthropomorphic animals in a mythical world where humans don't exist. The system has its basis in playing animals to begin with, which is a great frame for a PMD game. There would need to be a number of changes to make it work though.
Now, I have to admit I've NEVER played a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon video game. But I like a challenge, and this sounds like one, and I've had my mind on it for a while. Its not something I can dedicate a large portion of my time to, so I'm asking if anyone would like to try and work on it in their spare time with me. I have a number of ideas for changes already (skills being an obvious one, as well as how to work Typing and Evolution into the system).
If you'd like to help, send me a message on Skype. If you don't already have me added, my handle is davidhilm@hotmail.com, and the picture is me wearing that Pikachu hat that came in October's Loot Crate. Just include that you're interested in working on the PMD system. I can get you a copy of the Ironclaw handbook, and I've played enough of the system to be able to explain and even run a demo game to get a handle on the system if its needed.
