"A dragon? Huh. Well I'll be."
Brooke fidgets when asked if she knows what this means. "Not really," she confesses, sounding a bit embarrassed. "I reckon it'll go in the Poketome sooner or later?"

"Well, an entry will be put in the Master Tome soon enough, yes. Just as soon as I can gather my colleagues to announce this discovery." He lets Quiver out of the chamber after ensuring all energy emitters are turned off. "You may have your Goomy back, naturally. We'll inevitably send someone out to see if we can find and study them in their natural habitat in order to fill in the various details of its species."

Brooke nods. "There oughta be more of them in there somewhere. They're pretty shy, though. Water an' berries worked for coaxing 'em out, but I'm pretty sure they'd run if anyone tried catching one the usual way. Careful who you send in there, though, there's..." she hesitates... "Other stuff in there that's pretty dangerous."
She bends down to give Quiver a pat on the head for cooperating with the tests, but doesn't call her back to her Apricorn yet. "About that... I was wonderin' if you knew of anyone who might be willing to take her in? A collector, or a scholar, or anyone who doesn't go trompin' around the wilderness fighting things for a living. She's just not cut out for that kinda life. Be nice to find someone who can care for her properly."

"Well, if you wish to give her up, I can certainly put you in touch with people who'd love to study her. She'd be well looked after, I assure you. I myself am far too busy with my research projects to care for a Pokemon, but I know of people who could." He pauses, looking down at Quiver. "However, I suggest that you not be so quick to give up on 'Quiver'. If she truly is a Dragon-Type, as I believe, then you might be surprised at what she's capable of down the line. Though if you're set on it, you could always simply release her back into the wild."

"It's not that she's no good in a fight..." Brooke pauses, looking a little shamefaced, and admits, "well, it's not just that. She doesn't like fighting. It's not like the rest of my team - half of them are real competitive, and the other half don't seem to mind one way or the other. But she gets spooked easy, and whenever she loses a match it makes her more nervous come next time."

"Ah. So she doesn't quite fit with your team is what you're telling me." The doctor continues. "No shame in that, all Pokemon have their own personalities, after all. That being said, I stand by what I said before: it may be best to simply release her back into her natural habitat."

"Well, maybe." Brooke frowns, contemplating that idea. "I wouldn't like her to be on her own, though. 'specially not in that swamp. If I ran into another bunch of Goomy, I guess that'd do, but I reckon we were pretty lucky to stumble across one bunch."

"I'm sure that there are more out there that would find her. Plus, she lived there just fine for who knows how long before you came across her. A Pokemon like this probably doesn't have a lot of natural predators."

"Guess that's so. I'll think about it, anyhow. There's no rush." Brooke gives Quiver a pat before returning her to her apricorn. "Thanks for the help, doc. I'll come back if she evolves, or if I find somethin' else I can't figure out on my own."

Doctor Calthor nods curtly and shows Brooke out. She's free to return at any time.

Brooke thanks the doctor, slightly poleaxed at the amount of money that just changed hands. This is more coin than her family's ever had at once, she's pretty sure. Instinct tells her to spend some of it on supplies, send it home, anything to keep from having to cede a couple hundred in a lost match. Maybe eventually she'll be able to risk that kinda money, other trainers don't seem to worry about it much, but... not now. In Saffron City, she'd just head back to the Guild and buy from them. In Celadon? City this big, she figure's there's gotta be shops. She just needs to find them. Can't be too hard, can it? So, before shopping, I want to have Brooke run into a wild Pokemon. Brooke moseys on over to the Dark Branch, probably in search of a certain purple-shirted girl. Instead, she finds an empty common room. Not that this seems too out of place for the notoriously small Guild Branch.

Not one to let this dissuade her, Brooke calls out loudly, "Scuse me! Anybody home?"

A slightly harsher voice echoes Brooke's words. Glancing around for the source, she spots a Murkrow in one of the upper corners, peering down at her. As if to prove that it's the one that spoke, it mimics her again.

Brooke scowls at the bird, remembering its cousins in the swamp giving her a hard time. She raises her voice still further. "Helloooo! Anyone here?"

The Murkrow cackles when Brooke scowls at it, and again nobody answers her call. They must all be out or something. It did seem like a pretty sparsely populated Branch the last time Brooke was here, after all.

Brooke sighs - figures she vanishes the one time I do want to find her - and departs.
