Brooke keeps an eye out for the flickers of motion, but doesn't otherwise react. "Be pretty easy to lose our way down here," she says to Leon the second time they encounter a cross-tunnel. "You want to keep heading straight, see where that gets us? Or turn left every time there's a choice, or whatever that old trick for solving mazes is?"

Leon nodded "I'm fine with trying a different strategy, but I heard it's that you keep one hand on the wall at all times and eventually you'll reach the exit. Though that method could take a while depending on how vast the tunnels are." he said putting his hand on the right wall "So do you think Yue's father is into ghosts or sneaky people?" he asked referring to the flickers of movement.

"Better not be ghosts," Brooke grumbles. "Sure, let's try that. If the tunnels are that big then we're not gonna get out any faster wanderin' around aimlessly."

"Yeah I've had my fill of ghosts for awhile," Leon said keeping his hand pressed to the wall going forward turning right at any intersection they came across.

Leon gets the oddest sense of deja vu after a time, and between him and Brooke, they are able to tell that turning only one direction only led them in circles the past ten minutes, despite there not being that many intersections between where they initially landed and where they began only turning right.

Leon stopped "Hmmm, I think we're being moved around without knowing it. We've gone in a circle but we haven't taken enough turns to make a full circle yet," he said scratching his head.

Leon thought about it before letting out Rex "How about a scorch mark on the floor? It looks solid enough it won't burn. This way if there's a mark at the intersection we know we've already been through it. Then they'll just need to clean the mark up later" he suggested

Leon nodded "Rex use Ember," he said pointing to the center of the intersection, Rex complying with a spark shooting a fire ball at the stone floor scorching it, as Leon put his hand on the wall following the old strategy but having Rex scorch the floor of the intersections they passed through.

Following the same strategy as before leads to the exact same results. Leon and Brooke somehow end up right back at their scorch mark. Only this time, it's on the opposite side of the hall from where they turned. Somehow they've managed to pass it without noticing, get turned around, and then come back from the far side. Now suspicious of the nature of this place, Clefairy closes her eyes and concentrates, feeling for any sort of magical aura.
"Aha!" She cries aloud, turning to Leon. "This maze is mostly illusion. We've been walking back and forth in a circle this whole time. Now you must close your eyes and believe with all your heart that what your eyes see is not real. Only by fully disbelieving can you break free of the illusion."

"... okay then." Brooke halts, peering at the mark more closely. "You got any ideas how this could happen? Right now all I can think is that maybe they got some way to make scorch marks too."

"Huh...Apparently, this whole maze is an illusion we need to close our eyes and believe completely that the maze around us isn't real." Leon said as he followed Clefairy's advice closing his eyes tight slowly tearing the walls down in his mind until he was pictuing himself standing in an empty room with Brooke and their pokemon.

"..." Brooke closes her eyes and tries telling herself it's not real. That'd be awfully nice, wouldn't it? Maybe the swamp witch can turn out to be an illusion too.

Alas, Brooke's memories of the Swamp Witch for her to be an elaborate illusion. The maze, however, is no more than a handful of short tunnels up ahead, while the place they've been wandering about is merely a circular room with a mattress in it. Nothing accosts the small group of would-be rescuers as they make their way up from the 'Trials' area into a cellar. Now ahead of them stands what looks like a literal ninja, complete with face-mask, and... YUE?! Wait, no, that can't be right.. but it surely looks like her. The blonde girl and her ninja companion silently draw shoto blades, blocking your path forward.

Leon smiled seeing 'Yue' safe walking over toward her "Hey Yue, Are you alright? We got the letter from your 'real dad' but we wanted to come to make sure you were safe. Did your family dye your hair?" he asked noticing the blonde opposed to Yue's pink.

Brooke startles at the blond girl's uncanny resemblance. The hair is different - and she's not acting much like Yue, but then Yue wasn't acting like Yue last time Brooke saw her, so that doesn't mean anything - but aside from that, this girl could be her... oh. Twin sister. Right. This is s'posed to be Yue's family, after all.
"Don't think that's Yue, Leon," she comments, nocking an arrow. "This part of your Trials?" she asks the pair.

Leon took a couple steps back "What do you mean? It looks like Yue except for the Blonde hair. Though I guess it is pretty weird she held that sword up as soon as she saw us." he said taking a second look at the girl

The ninja girls say nothing, choosing to respond by sending out Pokemon to face you. It seems like getting past them is part of the 'Trials', for if they'd wanted to ambush you they could easily have done so earlier without revealing themselves.

Leon stepped back getting next to Brooke as he let out Puff looking at the ninjas "Can you at least answer us this. Should we be afraid for our lives here? I mean you guys did drop us down a hole and trap us in an illusion. Right now I'm not feeling the most welcomed or safe," he said.
