Adventure Thread - Group B

Leon went back to the guild, spending some time trying to get the smell of the swamp out of his clothes and himself. After that, he went to bed. Waking up the next morning Leon got dressed in a spare set of clothing. Not sure if the clothes he wore to the swamp last night were still usable. He let out all his pokemon giving the Corphish the name Ida, then giving all of them a quick pep talk. After which he returned them and went out into the main room, going over to D'Mara's office to see if she was in.

Not seeing anyone at breakfast, Alex grabbed a bit of eggs and stuffed them and a sausage between two pieces of bread. He went outside and decided to see if anyone else was up and about. Just outside the guild, there was a gathering of off duty guards. One in particular looked bored. Alex offered him a friendly 3v3 bout to warm up with. The guard clearly lacked sleep or something because Alex won the match quickly. That was the beginning of the end for him today. The guard paid Alex for the loss and thanked Alex for showing him that battling right after a shift was an awful idea. Watching the match was an older man and what appeared to be his son. The elder approached Alex and offered him a full battle. Since Alex was already riding the win, he said that he would take it, but at a handicap. He would do 5v6. The man agreed since it was in his favor. Alex battled hard, but the number advantage just proved too hard to overcome in the end. He lost to the man who only took 67 Crowns. The elder told him that since he was at a handicap, he couldn’t take anymore. Alex then saw the youngster had Pokémon of his own. Alex figured that this boy would be worth his time for his last bout of the morning. The elder quickly healed up Alex’s Pokémon to do a 3v3 against the youngster. The boy showed that he was just as fierce as his father and ended up winning in the end. Alex made sure the boy got his reward even though the father tried to refuse. Alex wanted to instill proper battling etiquette into the boy and quickly paid him 60 Crowns. 

Alex returned to the guild after his matches. It was a nice change of pace to battle for fun rather than survival, but Alex knew that the swamp was still waiting for them tonight. He wanted to be ready. To further that end, Alex wanted to go to the Grass Branch to talk with Sage. Alex wanted her opinion on the samples he’d found, and on the little ball of goo that he thought cost him his matches today. Whenever he sent Miry out, he had no idea what to tell her. She just Bubbled things over and over. No matter, it was still fun to practice. Alex palmed Miry’s ball and went towards Grass Branch.

"Hi, Alex." Brooke slid into the seat across from him with her own plate, Sharp perched on her shoulder as usual. "How'd your morning go?"

Alex quickly chews and swallows before he addresses Brooke. “Hi Brooke. Sorry about that, last time we went to the swamp, I was starving when we got back. Trying to avoid that this time. My morning went okay I guess. Had a few matches, but only ended up winning one. This goofball here.” He said pointing to Miry. “She decided to only use Bubble. Refused to do anything else. I don’t know her enough to know any of her other moves. I hope you guys had more luck. Did you do alright? Anything you need to do before heading back to the swamp?” Alex continued to munch, but he wasn’t shoveling food in his mouth anymore with Brooke there. 

Alex snapped his fingers and replied, “Ahh yes! The supplies. I’ve been thinking about that. You see, I totally forgot an old remedy my father used back when we were short on supplies. It’s a series of breathing exercises and gentle massage of pressure points to release toxins and cure short term paralysis. It even helps with burns. It’s just,” Alex trails off for a minute and looks down. “You see, it causes temporary muscle ache to the point of causing your Pokémon to become Vulnerable. I would never suggest it in a real fight, but if we have to, it doesn’t last too long. Ten seconds at most I’d guess. It’s great out of combat because we can care and look after them. If we’re in a fight though, I’d rather the ailments personally. It’s up to you. Our biggest setback in there was the poison. Luckily, I’m all rested now and ready to cure that right away. I’ll make a quick stop by the infirmary and grab a bottle of antidote for my kit again. It’s not the spray kind so it’s much cheaper to produce. I’m sure they won’t mind me taking a bottle.”

Alex looks towards Miry and then says, “I’m sorry your having the same trouble as I am. I guess I got so used to the tomes telling us everything we needed to know, I forgot how to be a real trainer. We’ll have to redouble our efforts in morning training to figure out just what these little ladies can do. I went to talk to Water Branch and the Leader wasn’t in. Her daughter, Callidora, however was there and she told me she’s like the unofficial second in charge. Callidora looked her over and said she wasn’t like any water Pokémon she’d ever seen. Doesn’t surprise me, if the Tome doesn’t know, then I doubt anyone really would. We got pretty lucky. She didn’t have any tips for me so I think we’re on our own on this one. Guess now, we’ll just wait on the other two and see what they’ve learned. We can’t really go shopping now without them anyways. Even after a couple times out, I think Leon would pay way too much for what he’s getting. Yue might also.”

(So I was reminded about the “Take a Breather” rule that gets rid of nasty effects. That’s what the dialog above was trying to say. I tried to make a good in character description for it, but yeah, we would have been just fine if we remembered that rule. We could have cleared it the first go around I think. Alex is still sitting on multiple potions unused. Now with our mini armies, it’ll be slightly overkill.)

Alex finished off what was left on his plate as Yue sat down. He said, "I'm ready now. That meal hit the spot. If we don't leave soon, I might have to go take a nap. At least I won't be hungry when we get back again. Before we head out, I do want to go shopping. I need a couple antidotes and such. A quick stop by the infirmary to grab supplies and I should be set. I would like to wait on Leon, but he's awfully late. He may have had something come up. I'm sure we can leave a message so he can catch up to us if need be. Do you guys need anything before we leave?" Alex was doing his best to judge time. It looked like if they left soon, that they would make it back a little sooner than they did last night. With just a little left to explore, they should be back much sooner than last night.

When Leon caught back up with the others he had something special for each of them, a satchel worth 250 crowns, though Yue had come up and taken her share suddenly before running off earlier that day. After that, he went with the others to get supplies, he purchased a second lantern remembering the troubles they'd had when Alex or Yue had run off, a handful of antidotes, some enriched waters and another basic ball just in case he needed to deal with multiple wild pokemon again.

(Leon Purchases another Lantern 600, 4 Antidotes for 800, 5 Enriched Waters for 375, and a Basic Ball for 250, 2025 Total)

“You’re welcome Yue, now does anybody need some water? I bought another case at the market today” he said producing a case of enriched waters from his pack.

Alex took one of the enriched waters and gave it to Squirt. He was hurt and needed a pick me up. Alex took note of the little creatures playing in the water and had an idea. “Hey Squirt, these guys look friendly. They also look like they love playing in water. Let’s give it another shot. Let’s try almost the same thing we did with Miry. Here.” Alex began to dig out a small hole next to him so that Squirt could fill it with water. Once he was done, he finished, “Let’s try it again. Fill the hole up with water. I have another idea this time though. Tighten up your beak and spray a mist into the air. Not the mist move we’ve been working on, but like a playful fountain.” Squirt tilted his head to the side questioningly and Alex sighed. “Just spray a fountain in the air first.” Squirt shrugs and begins firing a water gun into the air. “Okay, less water, tighter stream.” Squirt does his best to follow the orders. He turns down the water until just about a foot of water rose into the air. He tighten up his beak and made the stream into a small cone shape at the apex. “Yeah! Yeah, just like that. You’re doing great Squirt. Keep it up. They should love that.” Squirt gave an odd look to his trainer for making him do this stupid stunt, but continued anyways.
