The leader takes no pleasure in this? This wonderful combat? His body was wracked with pain from her sudden jab. This form was weaker than he'd imagined. Perhaps that which had some merit in saying that their power was stolen. But the woman was still staring at him with regret in her eyes or perhaps something else. "You need not take pleasure in combat. It makes one prone to mistakes."The sting in his side showed that all to well. He might be unused to this form but that was no excuse for carelessness. Digging his claws under the cobblestones of the road and flings them at her. It was a tad sloppy but the crush should serve to slow her marginally. Rock Tomb vs Miss Leader
Ac2 vs 9 27 Rock Physical damage

Huh. That was easy enough. Lootbox stared down at his now-dead critic, nudging the corpse a bit with his foot. On one hand, he was hoping for a bit more time to fully taste the man's regret in attacking his betters. On the other, it WAS a peasant militia. What could one truly expect beyond an easy pocket to pick.
Oh well; onto the next one! Sandile seemed to have the best idea in its choice of target. That shield-bearer was acting as a nuisance with all his intercepted hits meant for more-prime targets. It was time to see how much his shield could chew before choking! A quick slash would make short work of this.
Lootbox uses Thief (Weapon Move) VS Shield Man Accuracy (AC 2): 5 [Flanking Hit (Sandile)] Damage (DB 9 Dark Physical): 34

It was quickly becoming clear that the three that remained were no strangers to combat. Despite the weight of Crimson's assault, the lone spearman stood though he bled for every inch he'd gained against her. Desperation weighted heavily in the psychic air about the three, so palpable that Crimson hadn't even needed to delve to find it. Again, he lunged for her, taking a swipe with the bladed end of his weapon.

The shieldbearer was doing everything in his power to fend off assault from all sides. Lootbox and his minion both found their strikes against the brunt of that shield, but even still its bearer waned, fresh enough to keep going, but still sweating even after pushing his superior aside to absorb the rocks Iwakashi added to the mix. She gave him a thankful, if apologetic look. "If I do nothing else this day, I will free you from it and them.", swinging the hoe high at Iwakashi this time, an attempt at a killing blow.

Not wanting to take another hit, but also wanting to show off a little bit, Crimson simply steps out of the way of the swipe, appearing a little bit backwards from the human, staring down at it. "Your attempts are futile. Amusing, yes, but futile." Well... futile in time, ideally. Unfortunately, that's a trick that she's not able to pull off too often without rest. Meanwhile, Viridian continues its buzzing around, attempting to psychically zap the pest. Crimson uses Teleport. Viridian uses Confusion on the spearman. 5 vs AC 2, for 32 Special Psychic damage.

INTERRUPT: DEFENDER Lootbox sidesteps around the Shieldbearer, shoving Iwakashi out of the Leader's attack and taking it himself. His form buckles slightly under the halberd, but looks far from falling. "I'd like to say two can play at this game..." Lootbox mocked, staring down the Shieldman as he spoke. "...but I'm afraid I'm playing on a higher level than you could hope to reach."
The statement was followed with a lunge towards the Leader, blood-soaked blade aiming true. He grinned with an air of malice, watching the Shieldbearer malevolently even as he exchanged blows. Inviting him to take the hit again and seal his fate in the process.
Regardless of the outcome, Sandile continues to bite at Shieldbearer's legs.
Sandile uses Bite VS Shieldbearer! Accuracy (AC 2): 12 Damage (DB 8 Dark Physical): 34
(Top of Round 3) Lootbox uses Thief (Weapon Move) VS Leader Accuracy (AC 2): 5 [Possible Flank Hit with Iwakashi?] Damage (DB 9 Dark Physical): 35

The leader of the humans tries to stroke at Iwakashi again and her aim is true. This form was just too weak to endure it. He braced himself all the same but the blow never comes. Little Lootbox had come to his defense. He'd have to thank him once his breathe was less ragged.
He closes on the leader once more attempting to hurl stones at her. But he can't quite find purchase on the ground and only harmless rubble sprays at her.

The psychic assault is too much for Crimson's opponent, and he collapses holding his head, dropping into the fetal position. Similarly, after another assault from Sandile, and taking one remaining hit from Lootbox himself for the militia lead, the shieldbearer, too, falls. The leader looks between the two, and slowly lowers her weapon. "If you fell to her, it was a wonder we stood any chance at all. Go on then."

Standing over the now sole defender, divine ichor draining from his godly form, Iwakashi holds himself from treating the woman asunder. The thought is.... appealing but she was not wholely in error. Had his own wars in years past not also been to protect those that did not understand? She could live, at least for now. But she had still transgressed and a lesson was in order. With a spasm, his form shifts back into the more familiar and dour faced one. His weapon rests upon his shoulder once more. "How often must I say that my actions are my own? She," he gestures to the now crystalline Crimson, "Holds nothing over me or my mind. Nor do the others of her kind! We go to remedy this. To hold them in the times to come. Days of black and red are upon you. Tell my people that Iwakashi has returned. We will bring the Hive to heel. Be sure that the Earthenborn are ready to fall into step as well. "
He strikes out to punctuate his words. A mighty blow that should have filled the woman. But that was not his aim. Thudding into the fallen sheildbearer, ensuring they will never defend anything again. His voice rings out, talking directly to the leader but reaching the ears of those that hide in third hovels "Bring us supplies and we will take no more from you. We have higher things to worry about." They would fall in line. He starts to turn away. Preparing to wait for what meagre offerings the villagers could produce.

Crimson looks over at Iwakashi, perplexed. It apparently was not onboard with continuing and just razing this insignificant village to the ground. As she takes it in, though... it's perhaps not a bad idea. Continuing to press the point may just cause the humans to resist even more, and perhaps manage to grievously wound them. Well... moreso than already, that is. "Very well," she says, returning to her accustomed form, ground shrinking towards her. Ah. All limbs present and accounted for. Excellent. "If you insist, they can live. So long as the proper deference is shown." She debates recalling Viridian, but decides to leave the insect out as a warning for the humans to not try anything further.

Wait, that was it? Killing half the town's militia then leaving enough around to name who did it? That seemed rather brazen, especially given their current position. One angry mob of sufficient size could wipe them out at this state!
Lootbox would reign in his frustrations for the moment, changing back to his bard persona for the time being. No reason to advertise his continued existence yet; not till they reached Valora. "The standard affair will suffice. Food, water, a bit of currency. What you'd be able to earn with a bit of work, though I believe we're past that now." Not that he intended to work very hard. Maybe a bit of a performance to loosen pockets enough so that he could steal the rest. The standard affair, as he called it.
"Oh, and a journal if you have one. I seem to have misplaced mine. With today's date marked if you would."

The impromptu leader, with none left to lead, looked from Iwakashi's stoic expression, to the man he'd just killed. Her attention lingered on the corpse for nearly long enough to try one's patience, before she offered a slight lilt of her head in penitence and began moving towards one of the storehouses littered around the town proper. When she returns, she sets three sacks laden with food on the cobbles at Iwakashi's feet, with a singular ledger on top. Wordlessly, she hefts the corpse of her friend over her shoulder, and begins moving towards the nearby lichyard.

Well, everything seemed in order! Village subjugated, supplies replenished, no currency but what could you expect from peasants? And a journal to record their progress in! Just have to make the first entry; dated....
...
Lutebox squinted hard at the journal's entry date, first seeming confused as if he had misread. When it became apparent that he had not, the journal was quickly slapped into Iwakashi's arms in an act of incredible frustration. "Strike Valora off the list. Maybe the other two stops as well. We're not finding anything we're going to like."
Sandile would follow behind Lootbox in his sulk walk, although grinning from ear to ear. Solid ground and delicious munchies made this a good day.

"What do you mean?" Crimson chitters. This was one of the main problems with language. In the Hive, she would have known what Lootbox meant immediately. But, no, instead it's statement was just immensely vague. "We are going back to my home. I know that there are things going on there with an upstart that I do not like, but that is why it's even more important that I return."

200 years. They had been gone longer than he had thought. Would there even be any Earthenborn left that would know him? Not from history but in person. 200 years was a long time even for one such as he. His home as he knew it was likely more stranger than friend. What good would this journal be? It couldn't hold his script. He goes to toss it away but stays his hand. It might prove useful. Iwakashi could write in the runes that humans used.
He lets both their words wash over him. Teetering if he should even respond. Eventually settling for a resigned, "Time wears everything. Things are not as they were but we must still right them." He trods on in silence for a moment more, "We should reclaim Crimson's throne as soon as we can. Stop this useless war before it claims more lives."

Cowed as they are, when asked to explain the map Lootbox had taken a rubbing of from the rest stop prior, one of the villagers explains the red area that is X'ed off are several portions of a falling front in the war against Crimson's hive. The humans and their Earthenborn allies have been progressively losing ground, more and more of the underworld being taken for Illusio by it's would be masters.
The party gains 40 God Experience, 10 Pokemon Experience, and 5 TXP for their first battle.

Crimson is of mixed feelings. On the one hand, there is pride in the strength of her race... but, on the other hand, unyielding rage at the fact that there is another doing it without her. That is her throne. At least the others here seem to be of a mind to aid her in reclaiming it. That is good. Deific powers or not, attempting it alone would be... foolish, to say the least. She knows that from experience.
Away from the townsfolk, she converses with her companions. It would be preferable to use mindspeak, but right now clarity is of the essence, and those without such skills do not necessarily grasp meanings in the mind straight away. "We should probably take our supplies and leave as quickly as possible, unless either of you have other plans for this village." She no longer cares enough to destroy it, her rage (at them) quieted. "I do not fancy any of those humans getting ideas and attempting to slay us in our sleep, or anything."

Nodding gravely, Iwakashi has to agree. "They should pose little threat to us now. Distance would make it harder for any others to follow after." He didn't want to meet any of his people at this moment. They sounded hard pressed and holding back from aiding them was....difficult. He'd dedicated his life to this land's defense. Abandoning it....felt wrong, even though his goal was the same. "A pity we couldn't convince them of our sincerity. My people would have made sturdy allies."

"...well, that one shield guy would have." Lootbox commented. Not much to say of the rock thrower, but this country's shield bearers sure pulled their weight! Not to Valoran standards, but sufficient enough.
Regardless, there was more important buisness to discuss than the validity of dead soldiers. A plan needed to be crafted. "So, miss former/future mindqueen. A question for you; if everyone in that insect colony is linked, how are we going in undetected when one set of eyes alerts the rest of them? And in that regards, how do you intend for us to NOT be mind-controlled once they DO know of our presence?"
It might have been keen to swipe one or more of those mind-blocker trinkets, though Lootbox wasn't keen on being the one to suggest it. But neither was he keen on walking into one giant trap of a nation without some kind of prior plannings or protections in place. "Need I remind you that we don't have an army either, and have enough collective control over our divinity to BARELY stop a handful of peasants. This queen, meanwhile, has a 200 year headstart and one or more countries worth of resources. And, if that Time Witch truly seeks enjoyment from this quest, one or more shards of our own divinity in her pocket." All the while, this group ran on a budget of stale bread and a couple pets on the side. Kingslayers they were not.
"So what's your plan? Because we aren't going to have a profitable venture without one."

"That is not... exactly how things work." Crimson says, struggling to try and put things into words for the other. "There are two minds, the conscious, and unconscious. Conscious things are spread instantly from mind to mind, with a recipient or recipients in mind, that all will know what is meant. Unconscious things are spread throughout the colony, if there is enough will behind it. So, that usually means the queen's will, to all others. Alerting one member won't alert the rest, unless their duty is a watcher. Alerting enough, though, especially at once, will begin to spread that knowledge throughout, as more and more learn it."
She pauses, before gesturing to herself. "And then there is me. I am a force of will. I gathered parts of the colony before. I should be able to aid us in not being noticed. That is the first thing that a prospective queen learns. How to not do the laborious work, while making those around you believe that you are. However..." she takes a moment to word it properly, before chittering on, "I do not know what has changed. Before, the hive only extended to... well, my people. So, if they have been able to bring the Hive to others, this may be a futile attempt. I cannot say. And I am sure that there is no army around here that would even begin to follow me. Not now."
